I think an actually fairly likely possibility is Usopp/Luffy double team on either just Lucci or a Lucci/Spandam team.
Luffy might not beat lucchi

Nah, remember how Luffy got bashed hard when he tried to run for the door earlier in the Lucchi fight?
I'm predicting a series of good hits on Lucchi as the Straw Hats run past him and through the door, and every time he goes to stop one of them, Luffy hits him good.
Ussop v Spandam would actually be a fairly good fight since Ussop always tried to call himself Captain of the SH, and Spandam is the actual lead of CP9. Something somewhat fitting in that. And I don't think for a second, all strangeness and quirks aside, that Spandam is nearly as weak as he has been made out to be at this point. Physically, yah, but hes going to be tricky as hell with some powerful weapons at his disposal.
I think when its all said and done, Spandam (w his sword and whatever else he has) would be a match for one of the 800ish CP9 guys.

I don't get it. Why are people saying Usopp is no longer a fighter? Personally I think Usopp is destined to be one of the top fighters of the mugiwaras, just not a top melee fighter. Just like how in each arc Zoro and Sanji take the top swordsman and top martial artist respectively, Usopp will take the top gunman.
Why are we saying that? Because he spend an entire arc getting the ever living crap beat out of him everytime he's in a combat situation, no matter how worthless his opponents were (Franky Family anyone?).

That's because of the situations he's been put in. Usopp isn't a close range fighter. That much is clear. Give him a long range fighter, and I have no doubt that Usopp would be able to match the best of them. All the crap he's been put through in this arc, IMO, will lead him to this realization. I think it was pretty clear from the beginning that this would happen. When everyone thought Jyabura would be the one Usopp would be fighting, I knew that that wasn't what Usopp should be doing, but no one listened. I always believed that for Usopp to rejoin the crew that he would rejoin the crew not as another melee fighter, but as someone who sees himself as a top sniper.

You know, I'm starting to come around to this point. I mean, Usopp vs. Chuu was in some ways a long range fight.
However, he'll still need tricky moves and such to distract his opponents. He'll never be a "true" sniper, because they get to set up a place to shoot from ahead of time.

Don't forget the Mr. 4 fight. Mr. 4 was also in many ways a long range fighter. Yeah he's deadly at close range also, but he needed the help of Ms. Merry Christmas to get opponents within his bat's range.

Spandam isn't a long range fighter, and that's the only fight there's left for him.
And a top sniper/gunner is not necessarly a strong one on one fighter. I doubt Yasopp and Van Auger take on the most powerful opponents of their crew.

Spandam isn't a long range fighter,
u know i kinda had him pegged as a somewhat ranged fighter given that he is physicaly weak and probably goes down from a hit or two it doesnt seem like hes the type to charge in close range me thinks it should be best for him to keep his distance protecting himself and when attacking rely on ranged fighting using his weapons which has atleast enough range to stretch out and catch a fleeing robin but thats just my guess…..

Funkfried is a sword, not a gun or a bow. No matter how long it can extend itself, it's not enough to put Spandam in the "long range fighter" category. It's not because Ohm's sword could extend that Usopp fought him.

I have my own ideas of what may happen, but I say we should just wait and see how the story develops before commenting on this any further.

I'll just say this. Each fighter type has its own weaknesses. After all, a person can't be expected to do everything. And each fighter has their own strengths that when given the right circumstances, make them quite deadly for any opponent.
Am I saying Usopp could take on Zoro if given the correct circumstances? Maybe not now. After all, Usopp is still in the rather early development phases of becoming a top sniper. He's still yet to realize his potential as one. But by the end of the story, sure, if given the right circumstances like long range, etc… I believe Usopp could take Zoro on.
Hopefully this post doesn't derail this thread and turn it into another versus argument, nor a debate over which is deadlier, guns, swords, or whatever. But I have a bad feeling it will.

doesnt neccesarily have to be long-ranged it could be Medium-ranged all im trying to get at is that i dont think it will be a close-quarters duel (since IMO neither of them seem to favor that way of fighting) but rather a medium ranged fight but im not really planning to argue my point im just throwing my idea out there^^
also sry i didnt get that part about ohm fighting usopp clarification please ?

Also, if he knows Rokushiki, or even just some "hawk wave" style moves, middle-form Funkfried could turn out to be a long range weapon after all.

Arcs Usopp has had the crap kicked out of him:
Arabasta
Skypaiea
Water 7 TWICE!Quite a track record….
Anyway, Luffi is going to be Lucci, it's just a matter of how dramatically he does it, like Arabasta.

Lol. You can add Enies Lobby to that. Also he got the crap kicked out of him more than twice at Water 7. Poor kid. His character development really comes in a hard way.
-
7 times actually, it's fitting. Way to go Oda.
-
Because no one else has gotten their ass kicked more than once.
-
There's a difference between getting your ass kicked a couple of times and coming back with a vengeance and getting victimized half a dozen times and coming back with… being on the receiving end of another ass whipping.
-
Well, the arc isn't even over yet. Compensation victories don't sound all that great.

hilarious post.
i most also post in dismay at posts that mention Oda, saying "if Oda wanted Usopp to beat Lucci he would" is utterly ridiculous, after all the years we've been reading One Piece, we know the story does no take super drastic, out of the blue turns. I was personally hoping Sanji would take on Lucci, however Oda didn't because he has a pattern, he has rules, laws to his writing of the novel like all writers do, so no, even if Oda wanted Usopp to beat Lucci, it wouldn't happen because it would compromise the story.
