Well if Code Geass and Guilty Crown are anything to go by this will also be garbage. A shiny, real pretty piece of garbage with great music, but garbage nonetheless.

The new inspector in Psycho Pass manages to piss me off each week, which made the ending of this week's episode much more enjoyable.
Still though, this season hasn't been as interesting to me as the previous one.
-
The two episodes of Parasyte were good. The school setting imho takes away something of the mature and seinen spirit the manga and anime gives me, though.
At this point I won't know what will happen because I stopped reading the manga back then for some reason, so I'm really excited of what will happen to Shinichi.

I actually kinda like the school setting, it takes away from the seriousness a bit.

While the last episode showed that there probably is going to be some fleshing out the other masters, this week's FSN definitely showed that it's more centric of Shirou and Rin.
I do like both of them, though. This week's episode was solid. I'm happy it wasn't as big of a drop in action as the previous fight was, while still adressing all the important stuff stemming from that. I wonder if I didn't know the deal with Shirou I could figure it out because the hints are really obvious. I'm also a little bit sad that servant is out so early since we didn't really get to know much about her, but so was Assassin in F/Z.
It's a competently told story so far. Maybe won't be as good as F/Z by the end, but so far it's still competent. -
! Shit, was she even still alive when she got her neck twisted ?
-
I don't think so. But talk about plot twist. Sorry.
-
Yohohoho! She will come back to get you for this, as a ghost…
(well she was already some kind of ghost to begin with) -
Striking difference in the way boss fights are handled between SAO and Log Horizon..
Anyway, what/who is Yuuki? Her character is puzzling.
-
This week's Bahamut slowed down again to explain some things. It was nice and a good episode, but I'm worried in that whether so many things still left unresolved could be resloved only in these last few episodes. There's still a lot to cover.
It feels like it's nearing the end of something like the first half rather than building up to the end of the series. -
What? Is Bahamut really only 12 episodes long? And even if it ends with 12 I could easily see them doing a second season provided this one is a success.
-

Yeah, I'm surprised, too. ANN lists it as 12 and there's still so much ground to cover.
-
So Beelzebub is the guy behind the blue flames that protected Amira here and there.
Lucifer is fabulous and he doesn't seem to enjoy the whole resurection of Satan thing.
And Jeanne will surely end up like the real one. Too bad.
4 episodes left LoL -
Up to episode six of Parasyte. Totally Tokyo Ghoul/Attack On Titan, except originally from the 90s, I guess? Always the mother.
But I'm down with more humans = animals. The soundtrack usage and in general is really odd. It's not that good and it's sometimes used very poorly. -
I've got the feeling that by the end of season 2, Akane's crime coefficient might actually get clouded. Though it hasn't even budged up until now so I'm probably way off on this.
Was a good episode tonight though, enjoyed it.

Its huge success set a an example for the rest to follow. That's cool! So, I'm caught up with the anime. The concept and horror aspect of the Parasytes and the dynamic between Migi and Shinichi and their development is what makes it work, really. Everything else.. meh? But that's basically what the series is about. All the girls are there to symbolize Shinichi's "change" or are there to fall in love with someone. The setting isn't that interesting. But the backbone is with Shinichi and Migi. I find it most interesting that while Shinichi is turning less human, Migi is kinda turning more human. Considering the themes, I wonder if it is a coincidence that the studio decided to bring it back after Attack On Titan happened? Hmm. How far into the manga is it right now with the anime?
-
Just wondering, is Madhouse also in charge of the soundtrack of their anime ?
Animation is great but Parasyte's soundtrack <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< HxH's soundtrackPS: crazy coincidence, long before the announcement of Madhouse working on Parasyte, I red Parasyte listening to HxH's soundtrack.
-
Hunter x Hunter's music was composed by Yoshihisa Hirano, who's worked for Madhouse as early as 2001. Parasyte's music was composed by Ken Arai, and it seems like he's an independent artist.

This week's FSN made me laugh, poor Issei.
My favorite trait about Saber has always been how honorable she is, I really liked how she called Archer out, I also appriciate how much more open she is in FSN. I liked her in F/Z, too, but she felt a little too stoic there. She feels more human here.
Then I liked how much of a pathethic child Shinji was being. It helps drive home that these are kids and the narrative acknowledges that. Kirei is basically manupilating a bunch of kids. It's in line with the down-to-earth nature of F/Z.
The bit with Rin referring to Sakura made me sad, I kinda forgot about what went down in F/Z with that, it's kinda sad, but also gives even more depth to her. It's just a incredibly strong episode character-writing-wise.
-
The forest setting in this week's Bahamut looked great. Really pretty. I was worried last week, but this week sort of simplified it nicely. After this episode I sort of can see how everything could be wrapped up with another three episodes. At least I can see the main points nicely covered. Finding Amira's mom, the situation with Jeanne, the situation with Rita and finally Bahamut are the four main things that need to be covered and I can see it all covered in another 3 episodes.
-
There were a few cheeky cameos in the latest episode of Inou battle. Trigger pls
!
-
Top one is obvious, but lol, is that the alternative universe Ikari family I see on the bottom?
-
That scene with the Yakuza on Parasyte was gruesomely awesome, things are getting very interesting now.
-
Great FSN episode. The action scenes are always breathtaking. I love that. I also did not expect Kuzuki to be all that interesting, but he became pretty interesting and a pretty crazy threat, plus the "blonde foreigner" showed up again, for some reason he's always fun to watch for me now, even if the first time I saw F/Z he was one of my least favorite servants. It's all very solid. I'm pleased. If you really pick it apart, I feel like what Shirou pulled could be taken as an asspull, but I know what the eventual reveal is, so this came across as just more foreshadowing - to add to that something's been up with the circuits imagery since the start, so I feel like it's been foreshadowed enough to indicate that somethings up, so this works for me.
-
So Kizuchan, your weekly post about Bahamut ?
-
Didn't feel like doing one, but it's a great episode. Everything is literally going to hell. The stuff with Amira was really sad, the stuff with Jeanne was pretty tragic and the scene after credits is just the cherry on top of everything going to hell. It's a simple series in terms of pretty much everything - there isn't much to chew on thematically and despite being entertaining and decently written the characters are pretty simple, along with nothing really new in plot that hasn't been seen anywhere else, but the execution continues to be top notch. Probably one of my favorites from 2014.
It's a really good fun adventure fantasy overall and does that really well.

No Parasyte today?

No.
16 characters. -

So what is it about? I looked up some pictures and saw monsters, soldiers, fanservice and comedy?
Is the manga finished and has it some risque content in terms of violence or fanservice that would be censored?Edit: So the japanese self defense force fights against monsters from an alternate world and there are shenanigans with elves etc.?
Please tell me the plot is actually good and not some otaku bait, like sao and many other visual novel adaptations are, lol.
-
So, kinda related to this, but I gave in and watched the Unlimited Blade Works movie. The second half is unboubtedly gonna be amazing if what the movie contained is only the bare skeleton of the story and even skipped some stuff. The Archer/Shirou rivalry solid even with being crammed into a 2-hour movie and just imagining all that's coming up with Ufotable in charge is exciting.

If you consider brutal rape and violence as fanservice, sure, why not.
To me the best fanservice in Gate was when a squad of Apache mowed down thousands of marauding bandits besieging the city walls, while jamming to Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. Apocalypse Now style.
Or if you consider a divorced soldier in his 30s as a protagonist as same thing as Kirito Stu in SAO, sure, why not.
In other words, no.

^
Good, now I am looking forward to checking it out, but it will definitely be censored considering the stuff you mentioned. Although look at Cross Ange, everything's possible I guess. -
Is shirobako worth continuing? I'm on episode 4 and it's kinda interesting but sooo slow at times

Awesome News! Next year gonna have some great anime series! :D
-

Personally I love Shirobako, but if you're not enjoying it that much now it doesn't really change its formula so you'll probably feel the same about the later episodes. If you're finding it slow maybe you should just leave it for a while and come back to it when it's finished and you can marathon 20+ episodes.

This week's FSN was okay. I liked it, but I think the series is at it's weakest when it comes to the SoL stuff, but at the same time all the stuff that develops relationships is good and IS important for everything that comes later to have weight. The stuff between Shirou and Rin and then at the end with Archer was good. But still very much a lot of foreshadowing and set-up. Next week is the cour's last episode and apparently it's also gonna be an hour long, so looking forward to that.
-
Well, that episode of Bahamut definitely felt like a lead up to a finale. One thing that bothered me about the animation was the saturation. It's been there and noticable in the "heaven" and "hell" scenes throughout the series, sometimes it's a little difficult to tell what's going on because of that in those scenes, mostly it bugged me a little occasionally, but it was really prominent and really bugged me in the first half of this episode.
-
Caught up to shirobako, the characters really started to grow on me and made it a lot more enjoyable
-
Well, that's all for FSN for now. I thought this episode was okay. Knowing what I know it all was just more set-up, plain and simple, to get the players where they need to be.
General thoughts - I'd say I actually like it just about the same as the first half of Fate/Zero. The only difference is that F/Z does set up with simple talking heads and FSN does it with slice-of-life. It was good, but that's it - had a couple of great high points, but so does this series. It's the second half where it shone to me and made it a really great package as a whole. I hoping something similar for FSN maybe not as good because it's a lot simpler in it's themes, but knowing what the source is, I think it's a miracle something competent was made out of it at all, actually. Well done, Ufotable.Best Urobuchi sequel so far, though. Madoka Rebellion was really nice visually, but very unnecessary, kind of a mess of a story only for the sake to make a sequel. Psycho Pass 2 was a mess to the point where I dropped it. This is actually good.

Oh nice, did not hear about it. I hope they will have good seiyuus for Itami and especially Rory.

I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying has once again proved that short series is what will save anime.
And it even gets a sequel announced to save anime some more.

This is where we laugh and point fingers at you for watching Funimation releases which ruin both video and audio settings to the point where you wonder how this can be an actual professional release.
No, but seriously, compare it to the raws or fansub releases using proper raws, the difference is stunning. You can actually see the angel character designs or the spells effects, and even hear the benefits of the 5.1 surround sound.
-
I feel better watching the official releases even if it's not on the original site, kinda dumb, I know. I'm not sure, Funimation and Crunchyroll have some series that are up for completely free too, right? Most of it has a US restriction, though, I think? I can read recent manga chapters on Crunchyroll for free, at least.

I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying has once again proved that short series is what will save anime.
But have seen Pupipo to truly realise this?
-
and that's it for Bahamut. That was a solid finale. The animation was really good, though I still think some of the episodes from the first half looked better, I liked the resolutions for the characters. Well, that's all for stuff specifically from this season I've been following. Parasyte and Log Horizon are still on-going, but here's some finishing thoughts on everything that I picked up and what finished this season.
Fate Stay Night - As said in my previous post, it was good. It had it's problems with uneven pacing, that was the most visible in the final two episodes of the cour, but animation and music are excellent and the characters good. Looking forward to the other cour.
Rage of Bahamut - Excellent adventure series, nothing new, but great execution and consistency in what it sets out to do, the characters are fairly simple, but loveable and memorable, the animation and music is gorgeous. Great stuff.
Psycho Pass - Dropped this one. Pretty awful, but in a empty, uninteresting sense. By episode 6 or so it essentially just boiled down to shock value, maintaining nothing interesting from the original series.
Sword Art Online II - This one continued to be awful, but in an entertaining way. The action scenes always looked nice and sowas the music; everything else followed the trend of the first season.
Log Horizon S2 - This is similar to Sword Art Online, in that it maintained what it was in season 1, a solid series with good characters and story, using videogame concepts in a inventive way.
Parasyte - With last year's Attack On Titan and previous season's Tokyo Ghoul I've discovered that I've grown to like series like this. Parasyte does what it sets out to do well and I think it's good, but my biggest problem with it so far is that Shinichi and Migi are the only interesting characters; it's kind of the point, but there's literally nothing else interesting about it. I like AoT because it has a interesting world and mystery, plus a solid cast; I like Tokyo Ghould because it has great characters, but to me all of Parasyte's story beats are pretty predictable and world not that interesting, so the only thing driving it right now are Shinichi and Migi. That said, they are a solid driving force, making it still a good series, and I do appreciate that it's apparently the inspiration for many similar stories. This also marks the end of 2014 (as a year at least), so the three that stuck with me the most this year are Tokyo Ghoul, Noragami and Rage of Bahamut. Former two also for how much I grew to like their manga counterparts. Looking forward to what 2015 brings!

His/her ranking judging by the quality/enjoyment the shows were for him/her I would guess.^^

I only picked up two shows this season, and only one of them ended, so…
Psycho-Pass 2 Well, this was what I'd call a frustrating watch. Not necessarily a wholely bad one, but it definitely needed the extra cour that the first season got. It did good in that it furthered Akane's character arc from the first season, Kirito did a decent job differentiating himself from Makishima by the end, and they brought back Saiga, who pretty much killed it starting from episode 5 or so. But on the other hand the episode count didn't do it any favors as there wasn't really enough time to flesh everyone/thing out, making the shock value stand out more as empty shock value, and I think there've already been enough paragraphs written on Mika to add to them. Hopefully the movie, when I can finally watch it sometime in most-likely 2016 or something, will be worth the second season's blood sacrifice.
