Who is that guy?
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
-
Who is that guy?
-
Eww that was a really shitty asspull.
Why an asspull, didn't Ichei helped kenichi & others in tidat kingdom?
But still I was very very disappointed…. -_-"
Even though I really don't care about the story in this manga, but come on that's way tooo cliché to ignore.... -
-
That guy is apparently the secind master of Satomi, the guy Kenichi is fighting.
-
I'm cool with Mui's father not being the murderer, it was kind of weird how he went out of his way to save her in Tidat, and then all of a sudden was trying to kill her.
What I find baffling is, what was the point of that guy pretending to be Miu's father, and what was the point of Miu's father hiding his identity until now? Plus the fact the author didn't foreshadow any of this ahead of time, including introducing this guy to the story before this surprise reveal.
Maybe he was trying to hide his identity in case she freaked out like she did now, but I'm sure Saiga could have explained this all to his father and got it cleared up(the belief that he killed Miu's mother) before any of this was an issue.
-
I'm thinking it's entirely possible that Saiga really DID kill Miu's mother. but for some bs reason or another, it was actually the fault of this new dude. ninja hypnosis, body control, trickery, blind rage, something like that.
So her father DID leave, out of shame and regret and stuff. that's why he's remained hidden.
but I have no idea WHY this is happening, I was perfectly happy with a evil daddy endboss. also no clue how long they've been impersonating eachother or whatever. did the evil ninja start Yomi, or did Saiga? it's crazy and while things will certainly get explained, I'm not sure I'm going to like any explanation.
-
Kenichi pulls some Naruto-ish last second final villain introduction - meh! I also don't wanna see Shigures tits and ass anymore, there are more than enough reasons to actually devote a LOT of pages to the current fights. Tease the fights going on outside in 2-3 pages instead of showing more needless nudity. I just hope next week's focus is on Kenichi's fight.
-
Well…umm...ok...
-
Well, by Kenichi's standards a plot element that doesn't involves tits is unheard of so i will give it a pass for now.

I laughed. Kudos!
-
Newest chapter is out and I gotta hand it to him. Keneichi looks pretty BA on that last page. I'm hoping the next chapter will continue with this fight.
Wait, wasn't Keneichi's hand broken and then it wasn't?!
-
In the last pages he looked like an adult, i don't know why, maybe the drawings or just that attack's impact….
It was cool.
-
Don't know if it's just me, but this whole fight between Ken and Kajima sucks, in general.
-
Don't know if it's just me, but this whole fight between Ken and Kajima sucks, in general.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. It just doesn't have the same feel as Kenichi's other fights.
-
I don't see Kenichi using the fruits of his labor, just waking up from time to time, when he remembers he wants to protect Myu.
Then again, it's quite busy there. Too bad the fight itself can't be given more focus. It could have been handled differently.
-
But that's all Keneichi has been doing since the beginning of the fight? Using the fruits of his labors and everything his masters have taught him just to stand up to this guy who like him has had more than 1 master and was "talentless".
This is what I'm loving about the fight. Just 2 martial artists who love the art and are beating the crap out of each other but are enjoying it nonetheless. It's a pure and simple fight even with the world on the line and these 2 are enjoying themselves. It's not every day we see Keneichi like this.
-
I have mixed feelings about this arc now, but all of them are tinged with confusion. Is this the final arc, or near that? It seems like Yami is nearly done, and their disciples have mostly defected. Kajima is the only disciple left, and it looks like this fight is going to go all the way. I cant help but feel disappointed.
Kajima's made several appearances beforehand, and I personally expected something big out of him the more time when on (yet he's easily forgettable,) but he was just kind of thrown into this arc. Remember Miu's fight against the ninja girls? How they briefly exposited dialogue to establish a relationship with their enemy? Remember how they're two throwaway characters? Well, it doesn't seem right that Kajima is basically just like them so far. It's not right that a guy that's been foreshadowed (albeit halfassedly) for so long is just so disappointing.

I'm saying the whole fight sucks?
It's poorly executed compared to some earlier fights Kenichi went through. Don't think I need to number them.

The whole fight sucks how? You gave a reason beforehand about Keneichi not using the fruits of his labor which was incorrect so I pointed it out. Now you're just saying the whole fight sucks because it's poorly executed. In what?
In what? The setup? The fight choreography? The dialog? The timing? The motivations? The characters and personalities involved? Everything?
Are you going to say everything?
-
The setup is bad because there's too much stuff going on and the fight constantly gets breaks due to Saiga, Myu and those 2 ninja hotties distracting from it.
Not much to say about coreography, excapt that the fight is mostly turn based. Kajima attacking, then Kenichi managing to defend, than Kajima attacking again, then Kenichi realizing he has to protect Myu. There is no real flow and it's boring because of it. Boring to me, anyway.
There's too much dialogue and it distracts from the fight. I get it, Kajima has his motivations and Kenichi has his, no need to feed us with the info again and again.
Timing for the fight is not too good, but again, the situation is what it is. It would be better if the fight didn't get all the breaks with Saiga, Senzui and Myu. Like if they were going one on one undistracted, like in some previous Kenichi's fights against Yomi.
Motivations are fine, but we knew all of those since the beginning of the fight anyway.
Kajima is an ok character and it's interesting as rival for Kenichi, because they are two faces of the same coin, essentially. I just wish it was executed better.
Hopefully I made myself clearer now. It's not like my view can reduce your enjoyment of the fight, so just accept that I'd expect a lot more from the fight in which Kenichi fights the #1 Yomi.
-
I agree the fight can be executed better on the grounds of reducing the breaks in the fight, which is why I've been saying I hope the author continues to concentrate on this fight. In previous fights there might have been 1 or 2 other fights going on but in this war there are perhaps dozens so I understand the author will drift from one to another, but he has been doing well recently on focusing on Keneichi and the recent pacing has been relatively well handled.
-
I expected more from Miu's mother… and Saiga just randomly walked into the Kuremisako village and decided to participate in their martial arts revolution because... what?
-
This was pretty bad writing even for Kenichi's standard.
It feels so rushed and badly put together.
-
Uh…i don't care about this flashback at all.
-
I expected more from Miu's mother… and Saiga just randomly walked into the Kuremisako village and decided to participate in their martial arts revolution because... what?
Because he had a relationship with Shizuha, as is clearly depicted..
-
Because he had a relationship with Shizuha, as is clearly depicted..
Well, "clearly depicted" is a little stretch. All that's shown is her blushing in front of him and Senzui releasing her from their arranged marriage by the Kuremisago village. I find that a little thin for him to participate in a complete revolt against established martial arts ideals, along with Shizuna's former arranged husband, which he became best buds with in a matter of pages. The whole thing with Miu's mother and Saiga was always a major plot point, and I just don't like the way it is currently being explained.
-
Didn't Miu's mom look completely different in an earlier flashback? Maybe it's just a style change since then, but it's so drastic. Also, yes, I can believe that this is Miu's mom. I liked her better when she was a quiet ninja-lady standing on a snowy landscape. This lady is annoying and boring.
This setting meanwhile, is boring. Instead of a flashback, I'd like to see the conclusion of the master's brawl a distance away. The possibility of every remaining Yomi fighters getting their asses handed to them is too interesting, especially those two who've killed characters onscreen. You know the ones.
Semi-related, for the past few arcs I've wanted to see some development from Shinpaku Alliance, but I don't think it's ever going to happen now. Most of guys have been denied progress, and floundered in the face of a challenge. With Yomi defecting (a series of disciples with masters and an easy ticket to keep getting stronger) I fear these guys will fall to the wayside. These guys are a series of Yamchas and Tiens with few exception. I'm so disappointed. For me, that's a recurring theme of this arc.
Lastly, I got a laugh at that second page with Shigure. It's just funny seeing the naked lady telling the two teenage boys to look past her, and watch two dudes fight in the sky.
-
Oh good. We're getting one of those endings aren't we?
-
I've never seen more rushed flashback for plot development, ever. In this chapter Saiga comes out of nowhere and falls in love with Miu's mom, fights and becomes pals with Senzui, we learn Kuremisago Village is a place where martial artists suppress their emotions and breed for stronger fighters, Senzui kills his father, a whole revolution is begun and ended, and Senzui turns to the dark side.
Wow…lol, wow.
-
I really don't like that this Senzui person just comes out of nowhere.
-
Matsuena: Well, i will use so much cliché in this flashback that the readers can fill the hole by themselves. Fuck pacing…Wait, am i not compromising my storytelling by this?
puts down the pen
Matsuena: This isn't Kenichi at all! There's something missing. I'm capable of more. My readers expect much more from me!
picks up the pen
Matsuena: I will do it. I will excel on this...FOR MY READERS!
Adds Ginormous tits on Miu's Mother
Matsuena: There we go. Instant classic Baby! -
That flashback did feel a bit rushed, but it's nothing "new". I'm happy it was short, i wanna see the rest of the Kenichi fight.
-
The newest chapter is out. Realize it's probably a big mistake to use mangapanda's translation as fact, but there's a line about the history of The One Shadow Nine Fists that confuses me.
! The idea of a non-agression pact and no reason to attack other organizations line seems very unlike the group's ideology, even if the group is meant ultimately for peace. Did Saiga join the group before their turn to Yami? Or were they a more benevolent group back in the day, which given the turn of most of the masters might be the case?
-
Caught up again, mmmh you know never mind Senzui's whole story being kind of lame. There's lots of that in this manga.
But it's kind of sad that the big baddie here is so lacking of any kind of charisma/presence. The design feels somewhat uninspired, same with Saiga somewhat.
Maybe it's because of lack of shiny master eyes? :ninja:
Dunno even the Indian master guy who we know almost nothing about has more going on for him than random super ninja dude. -
Wow, am I tired or does this chapter seem a little stupid? The clearly evil master is arguing that stabbing people made the world a better place, meanwhile Miu's dad disagrees. Also, Shigure doesn't even get to keep her coat apparently. This is a real low point for this arc, but at least the flashback is over.
-
It's really bad.
Saiga didnt killed his wife but he did created the One shadow nine fist, which practically works as a terrorist organization. Are we supossed to believe that all the shady works of Yami were done at his back, that he believed he was running a NGO all this time, that he is after all a nice guy? What a load of crap.
-
It's hard to take murder seriously when the focus of the scene is on the victims naughty bits.
-
it's not really the best plot in the series, but it works because… masters.
if anything, we get to see a bit of background on the one shadow nine fist organization. (though albeit small) -
It's hard to take murder seriously when the focus of the scene is on the victims naughty bits.
It's hard to take the character seriously when they are all in skin tight spandex with 32 J cup breasts.
-
Yeah, can we go back to just Kenichi training and fighting other disciples?
-
The flashback ended like it started: very bad. Shoe-horn a bit of "exposition" about the One Shadow Nine Fists into it, get it over with the murder scene in a single page, and basically provide no further information at all. Senzui said he killed Shizuha before the flashback and we could have just left out the flashback after this because it didn't expand on anything. Not even on how every martial artist is able to get his hands on costumes that apparently imitate persons on cellular level…
-
I'ma gonna ask the stupid question. What was with that one ninja lady in the skintight outfit with ridiculous curves? I thought she was Shizuha at first, but no, she's a whole new character. Yet, she's dead in like two pages. I probably don't want to know the implications, but why draw attention to this character, give her a line, only to kill her in such a lazy way? You had Shizuha in the same chapter, and these characters look very similar…give her more page time!
-

I think Matusena simply liked the design but it would be too shameful to keep copying Jun Tsukasa style after so many years, that's why the muscle ninja girl only got a brief cameo.
-

Yeah, but the absurdity hits a new high when the image on screen is a woman getting stabbed, but the eye is lead straight to her scantily-clad booty. It's as if our takeaway from that scene shouldn't be that some dude is killing people, but that butts are cool.
-
I never thought I'd see 2 masters fighting and wish it'd be over with sooner.
-
So did I just watch Saiga show up at the super secret hidden village, but somehow as the guest of Shizuha who was already crazy for him, then he meets Senzui who he becomes best buds with quickly even tho its his girls fiance, then Senzui decides to just start a rebellion out of nowhere and Saiga says "ok i will help", then they fight and kill the guy who appears to be king and is Senzui's father so you would think the coup is over but nope stil going on for some reason because this tiny hidden village seems to have the population of a large city. Now with no preamble Senzui decides to change sides cuz hes worried about people dying. So he puts on his perfect replica gear and goes about killing and ends the rebellion.
But oh wait the guy who was wanting to prevent deaths is now trying to destroy the world with the yami plan? Also, Saiga's wife was killed and it WASNT by him so he hasnt tried to find who really did it or tried to see his daughter or make up with his fahter and explain how he was framed why exactly? And hes allowed this dumbass darkness plan to go forward for what reason because his character so far sure hasnt seemed "ultimate evil bad guy" it seems more like Elder.
This shit is dumb. This series needs to end.

That about sums it up.

So this series now has officially jumped the shark, huh?
-
@Bartholemew:
So this series now has officially jumped the shark, huh?
Crap on these levels usually points to the series getting the axe.
Kenichi is a veteran manga, its hard to believe thats the case but it wouldnt surprise me at this point.
-
I usually defend this series, because I like the fights and tits, and still care about the characters and their interactions and stuff.
but this big reveal is pretty shit. also Kenichi's fight has been pretty shit. at least the ecchi game still strong, but a man cannot live on pan(ties) alone.
