He feels no remorse for the ship of innocent people blown up, but the trees deserved better. As Fleet Admiral, he has a strict policy, kill people and save the trees. If you harm a tree, you get a lava fist to the chest. This is the real reason he killed Ace. Ace destroyed many trees with his fire power, which Akainu got angry at.

Well those people made boats and books out of innocent trees, he had no choice really. With all the tribal and flower tattoos you can tell he was just a peace loving hippie before the harsh expectations of an Admiral was thrust upon him. He just really cares about the environment thats all.

What's worse it he was just having a peaceful protest when the WG came and game him the Magma fruit in hopes of silencing him, but his will was to strong. He mastered the fruit and didn't burn any trees. Because of this, he was made Admiral. Everyday he goes to a tree sanctuary to remember the trees that were sacrificed to destroy the evil of Ohara. He wants to believe the trees were glad to die for an honorable cause, but he can't. Instead he must learn from his hero Aizen, that all people are trash. Instead of using a sword to stab people in the chest, he prefers a Magma fist through the chest, that way he knows he took out the heart and knows the person is dead. He must be an Ulquiorra fan.

Well to me tha bonsai looks really bad It should reflect care that person is taking with it and how person wants it to look like.
Here it looks like Akainu did absolute justice to all leafs and branches beside very top lol he just cares for main branch and few leafs at the top- just like he cares just for main marines that share his points of views
Just like he wanted to cut off "leaf" that sticks out that Coby was during war or marines that he killed because they were afraid to die and he didnt wanted their families to be ashamed of cowards- sticking out of his vision leafs that needed to be cut off same as Coby.

I really want to see a team-up of Aizen and Akainu now. They would have parties where people would have either a fist or sword through their chest. They are so alike in that they have no regards to anyone, and will take any opportunity to hurt someone for reasons.

Lol doesn't sound like a fun party XD Aizen seems to take joy in killing, but Akainu seems to just kill people if they go against him.

I'm going to assume Kizaru saw Funkfreed didn't have an owner after Spandam was hospitalized, so he gave it to Akainu. Akainu took to it quickly since he's are Marine environmentalist. If real life environmentalists had someone like Akainu on their side, I think everyone would stop harmful practices and go Vegan out of fear.

Maybe Green Bull gave Akainu the elephant, and when he became Fleet Admiral, he promoted him because he was touched by the gift. We will then get a cover story of the adventures of Akainu and Green Bull, as they go off to save the environment while killing anybody who uses anything from a tree. Akainu's biggest goal as fleet admiral is to go paperless, and all buildings can't use wood.

Strange how different people see the same things.
From the leaf structure I thought he'd chosen to grow some variety of desert tree, to reflect the heat and severe volcanic plains of his nature, rather than one of the more traditional delicate-leaved Japanese species.

Check out sides of that tree- it has visible signs of cut of branches- where they were.
So for me he clearly cut off all that was sticking out on sides- look again if you didnt seen it at fist.

As for leaf structure it looks like desert plant even though still there are signs after cut off branches as I said.

I think Monday, July 21st is a holiday in Japan and that's when Shonen Jump issue 34 is supposed to come out normally. Meaning they will be published on Saturday July 19th.
By experience when something like this happens, the chapter comes out online on Tuesday.

But who am I to know all this lol. Don't hold your breath.

Agreed. It's pretty clearly a representation of Akainu's philosophy, IMO: he believes that anything that deviates from the straight and narrow path must be culled. Hence his bonsai (where every branch has been trimmed except for those on the main branch) and his 'absolute justice' philosophy.

This is what the chapter thread has devolved to with a break, talking about Akainu and the possibility of him being a tree hugger or if the tree represents his philosophy on life. Such a deep and meaningful discussion that wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the break.
