Ging has been to the DC right? What if that is where Gon's mom is from?
I thought I explained the York Shin thing earlier.
The reader's involvement with that arc was mostly through Gon's story. Gon met and interacted with the Phantom Troupe in a completely separate manner from Kurapica. His goal was still Greed Island at that point, so when the Troupe started fucking with the auctions and got bounties on their heads, they became not only his problem, but his solution. When the bounty was revoked, it became a matter of loyalty and through his supporting Kurapica, he revealed a lot about his character and learned a few important things, too. Even though Kurapica's character development was at the center of the arc, Gon was still an important focus and the way through which the arc became part of the story.
I must have missed your post on it earlier
I see what you're saying I think. Gon had a goal that went along with the story of that arc (getting the GI game). Gon was a part of the arc. It's not like Gon was missing for 4 or 5 volumes
I suppose I just disagree with anyone that feels HXH can't handle, or that it would be poor story telling, for an arc similar to the Genei Ryodan arc to happen; an arc where Gon isn't absent, but he's more on the backburner compared to another character who is more the main protagonist for that time.
I'm not necessarily arguing for Gon to not be featured in the upcoming arc. I just feel HXH has set a precedent (Gon was gone from most of the election arc, though a lot of that plot revolved around Gon. We already discussed the Genei Ryodan arc) that shows the story would probably be fine with Gon taking more of a support role for an upcoming arc
Assuming the trend of HXH's serialization continues (10-30 chapters every other year), I can see how people would think it's an awful choice for Gon to not be involved in the next arc at all. Whether or not he's the main character of the next arc, I don't think Gon will be missing from the story
