Captain Rainbow. An obscure, Japanese-only Wii title made by the same guys who did Chibi-Robo.

Nice to see the Mac attack. I've lost hope for Ridley, but I'm still thinking a Custom Robo rep could be possible. And I'd be tickled pink to see Andy or Sami, but I know THAT isn't gonna happen.
To be fair, Little Mac being in this game should give hope to Ridley fans. The fanbase that had the greatest demand for Little Mac was the west, which is the same case for Ridley.
I also personally feel Sakurai has been too much of a troll through stages for us to think he'll fail to include certain characters. What he did when revealing Pyrosphere and Palutena's Temple was too much of a troll, and I hope he's not enough of a dick to tease fans like that knowing there's such a high demand, particularly for Ridley.
The one I have very little hope for myself is K. Rool.
We can't really count many people out based off stages. The Spirit Tracks level shows Toon Link as part of the stage, some thought he was out. Boom he's playable.
My preference of new characters to be announced aside, I'm a little worried about how gimmicky Little Mac is going to be. Despite some very unique individual mechanics in previous games (two Ice Climbers, Pokemon Trainer's cycling, Olimar's pikmin types, etc), you could always pick up any character and on the surface they'd play like any other character. You might suck with someone unfamiliar, but by a certain general skill threshold you can pick up anyone and be at least decent, and pick up the finer nuances as you go along. But Little Mac is the first reveal where I can imagine a play style that is completely out of sync with how most characters feel and play. Like picking T.J. Combo for the first time in Killer Instinct and realizing you can't jump.
I'm just realizing that we got 5 newcomers.. When we got brawl's first trailer, it had 5 newcomers. I'm guessing that the roster won't grow as much this time.
Maybe. Maybe not. I mean, they're doing things differently here. There's a possibility that they want to focus on veterans that fans want to return (specifically Roy and Mew Two), but it's not like the game has a release date yet. They're showing characters who were formerly unlockable. We're talking about Sakurai, so really, who knows what's going in that man's mind.

Foolio do you just not have the Smash spirit or what's goin' on.
Various characters in fighting games have various weakness and benefits. Hell, Street Fighter and Tekken both have boxing characters who don't use their feet to kick, and those characters are some of the best characters in the game. Honestly, hold out for the game. And even if you get the game and you don't like how Little Mac plays? Don't play him. I absolutely suck with Ice Climbers, and someone almost won Evo 2013 with them!
You're not going to enjoy every character.
I don't enjoy every character, but I respect every character's presence in the game. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't deserve a slot.
For example, I'm not a big Punch-Out!! fan, but watching Little Mac's intro made me super-hyped.

- This game is a system seller for me (though Kart will be even sooner)
- I enjoy playing every single character in current Smash games. I suck with plenty of the ones I don't put in the effort to master, but I never feel like they are inaccessible to me or that controlling them is foreign
- A character I avoid is a character slot wasted
I don't see why it's wasted if you don't play as a character since you can still always play against them

Good point. Not entirely wasted, but wasted in terms of my own gameplay variety.
Hmmm, I'm not sure if I get a vibe of a complete gimmick from Little Mac. He seems like a fairly normal fighter to me and the main gimmick, the KO meter, seems more like a Roy Flare Blade or a Donkey Kong charged punch. Other than that, seems like quick jabs and punches.
Little Mac's meter seems to be charged with hits that he dishes out, like in Super Punch-Out.
It's like an inverse Lucario.
Little Mac is Captain Falcon with crap air but an actually useful Falcon Punch.

Yeah that's more what I got out of it.
Really it's more like what Lucario should be.
can't wait to see a Captain falcon 'falcon punch' vs a little mac 'K.O hit'

Back then we didn't have Nintendo Directs or Miiverse to gradually reveal new characters/stages/items and so on (also that's only 5 out of like 16 newcomers).

But we did have the dojo.
That said, they're probably just going for a slower release of characters than many at once. Tbh, I don't think that bringing out Villager or Wii Fit Trainer along with three other characters all in one trailer would have had the same impact anyway as having individual trailers. I remember when Wii Fit Trainer came out without the footage and everyone including myself being like "WTF is Sakurai thinking?" then the trailer came out and then everyone was completely fine with it.

Yea, but we had the good old Dojo. I used to check that everyday to see the updates. And that had sections for stages, characters, item, and all. Lemme see if it's still up and running.
Yep, it is.
yes I'm well aware of dojo I was on there everyday back when brawl was still in development. But my point is he can now be more flexible with reveals with more options for doing so
can't wait to see a Captain falcon 'falcon punch' vs a little mac 'K.O hit'
each match would end like that

With how elaborate each trailer has been, im thinking 10 or so newcomers would be a reasonable amount. I cant see them making 15 or so intro movies of that quality, and im going to guess most series already represented will only get one newcomer if they do get one.
While I miss the loads of information from the Dojo, there's something exciting about knowing a newcomer is coming and then receiving an elaborate video focusing entirely on that character and highlighting their appeal. It makes every character addition stand out, instead of last time when we got five characters in one trailer and didn't really know much about how each played until months later.
As for the characters so far, maybe it's because of being a Sakurai fan girl but overall I'm extremely pleased. I'd argue the only ones missing for me are Ridley and Palutena, and then the game is complete for me.
Well hey, Koopalings just got added into Mario Kart 8. So it's now time for my obligatory torch carrying post where I openly hope for Koopalings as a single character sharing a single moveset, but models are swaped out like alt costumes.
We good here?
Yep, yep we are.
Yeah, I just was observing the quantity, but the individual quality of each reveal has been greater. The trailers for a character are great, I'd wish that the elders, I mean veterans got something like that, like "oh, there's the 3 zelda characters, here's their trailer" and so forth with the other seires, small series could combine thematicaly.
Someone has pointed out that the Paletuna leak might be real. The leaked image shows her standing beside a rock found in (I believe) the new Battlefield stage, and it is IDENTICAL! The lower chip is just blocked by Pikachu's head though.

Now, she could still be an assist trophy. She could still be in Pit's Smash. But considering that no one has ever seen this pose of Paletuna, there's a good chance she's either a character or an assist trophy. Fingers crossed!
I can't wait for this game
DAMNIT I promised myself that I wouldn't get hyped for this..

Now if only if they could put this on the OST.

Oh, so it doesn't replace his standard special, it just changes his standard special IF the meter is full. Good to have clarification.
I'm just going to shamelessly plug myself so i apologize to those who hate that but i got the internship for the fighter's corner and i'm going to be talking about super smash bros, probably a lot. My first articles online now and i would really appreciate it if people could give it a read and let me know what they think or how i could improve it. I want to improve:

Also i should've expected more Mac pictures to appear today. At least they confirm what i thought about keeping him on the ground
Megaman looks huge in that shot. Or is Little Mac suppose to look that… little? Looks more like an odd camera angle.
if you watch the video you can see a size comparison of little mac and Mega man and little mac is bigger. That is either a very odd angled shot or, the more likely imo, mega man has eaten a mega mushroom
Black leg:
When you say priority in your article, I think you meant super armor. Super armor is when you get hit but even though you take damage there's no knockback or flinching. Him getting hit and not reacting to then hit back tells us he has super armor for these attacks, not so much that they have priority.
Also, there's that move where he charges a punch then dashes forward quickly. He did it on villager and pit. It could potentially be the neutral B that becomes OHKO when the bar is complete. Likewise, there's a moment in which he leaps forward, dodges a projectile and hits Mega man … Some consider it's possible that's his side special since there's none of the usual flash from air dodging.
Oh ok. Thanks about the priority/super Armour thing. I knew about super Armour but not really when it happens. I Just know bowser has it :P
I considered his side-B attack. I'd heard about it but i didn't think there was anything that really makes it a definite for his side-B so i chose not to include it.
As for his B-neutral, when i wrote that i was thinking his move changes depending on how much the bar is filled with that charged punch dash being like half full. It looked really powerful. Now however i'm think there's only the two. That charged punch dash being the default and the uppercut happening when fully charged
Oh boy, looks like it's yet another game where I can harvest the life force of diminutive creatures to replenish my stamina!
oh… err, I mean. Yay fairies in bottles!
Huff… Why in the firey Hell isn't this game out yet!? [/whinybabyfrustration]
Seriously though, it looks fantastic.
I didn't play with healing items but it's nice to see a zelda item for once

Heart Container, Bunny Hood, Deku Nut, Hook Beetle…
alright fair enough. I forgot about the deku nut
So does this mean the heart container is gone? I'll need to check I my smash but isn't that what it did
I'd rather have this than the Heart Container, more true to the game.
Instead of the item faling slowly, main reason that the HC had some counterplay, you could take the fairy away like a goey bomb or something.

Also I just had a random thought. Maybe someone already came up with this ages ago. But Luigi's Final Smash could be an army of Dream Luigis with various dream transformations.
I wonder if the pic is a concious reference to 3D World, in which Bowser captures fairies in bottles.
Thinking about it lately, I also figured out who one of the newcomers should totally be by the way:
! TODD FROM POKÉMON SNAP!!!
! Seriously though, I want something Pokémon Snap related in the game. And I want Pokémon Snap 2 for Wii U.
So does this mean the heart container is gone? I'll need to check I my smash but isn't that what it did
The heart container only reduced damage by 100%, rather than reducing it all the way back down to 0%
So it cures 100% of damage. But it doesn't cure 100% of damage. :ninja:
Haha, yeah. 100% of the time it doesn't work every time.
What I wonder is if the inclusion of an item that heals more than 100% means that they expect some characters to last considerably longer than they would before. Perhaps the heavy characters will really go over the 200% easily as suggested in the Little Mac trailer.

I've never understood the appeal of pokemon snap, it seems like the most boring concept for a game ever.
Except a safari without pokemon, that would be more boring.
