I'm pretty sure Deers are more close to Cows and Goats than Horses.

So I've got some animation buddies who work on shows and are friends with Justin. They told me he was pretty upset that the episodes were leaked, but he also said those were his least favorite of the season. And they're pretty good, so expect great things.
-
EPISODE 3 IS OUT!
-
! holy shit, that failed suicide at the end, this show is consistently brilliant
-
While I like these episodes, they felt pretty much okay… outside that one murderer bug guy in episode 2, and pretty much the last act of the first episode.
They feel.. very "Futurama"-ish and less about a wild rapid-fire adventure that involves dooming things and alot of improv back and forths between Rick vs everything. Maybe it's just me... but these episodes don't make me feel super pumped or reminded me why I watched the show outside those random throwbacks in Ep2's closing credits.
But after knowing the first 2 weren't Justin's favorites, that makes me alot more hopeful things would get better.
-
I love this song. Though poor Rick.
-
I like that Summer joins more adventures with Rick and Morty now.
-
She fit's in easily. She's not as useless as Jerry or as much of a follower as Morty.
Besides the great overall plot which was hilarious and touching i loved all the throw away lines/ "your first race war" "9/10 times it's a bunch of dead aliens and free shit" Community being the show Rick made her cancel lol
That was also one of my favorite after credit scenes.
-
Soooo this episode 4 is a lot like another Rixty Minutes episodes but dear god it's another winner with all the random hilarity. And the ending…got me in stitches.
-
Mr. Poopy Butt Hole was a far better friend than Tsukishima
-
I think Summer's memory of Beth was my favorite thing. That's was just so messed up. I've seen fake clip show episodes before but this took it to another level.
-
I watched it. loved it. re-watched it. loved it even more.
Anyone else notice how the Amish-Cyborg didn't turn into a parasite when he was shot in the montage?
Summer's memory of Beth was soooo good. I wonder if Beth's alcoholism will become an issue this season. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree, right?

It has more in common with Community's "Paradigms of Human Memory" and "Curriculum Unavailable" both being parodies of clip shows. In the former episode the group talk about memories that were not present in the series proper but treated as if they were old clips we've seen before but were new; and the later takes it the step further by having scenes re-shown from the fake perspective that the study group is actual in in insane asylum.
But its great to see the clip-show trope running gag continuing in Rick and Morty where they can take it a step further with aliens.

Nothing is ever going to top the Clerks animated series clip show.
In their second episode.
-
I need time to forget about Sleepy Gary.
-
Best episode so far this season. Gonna definitely rewatch it again later.
-
Why did Summer kick Morty in the nuts and tell him to never go in her room again?
-

God that show was brilliant. White Lando, last starfighter and Egyptian building game…oh the moments.

Newest ep
! "wait who's that baby?" Wow….is the implication that Rick raised Birdperson? He was smiling in one of the pictures...
! ending with Ice-T was brilliant. -
! I think the baby was morty. It's got a yellow shirt and it looks terrified.
! Yeah I thought everything with Ice-T was great
! Don't be gross tammy. -
Gotta say, watched the whole thing today. Greeeeeat stuff.
-
Eh, honestly, I thought this episode was just okay and possibly the weakest Rick and Morty episode to date.
Just from the preview, the premise of this episode looked kind of thin and…yeah, it was. The competition between planet where the losers get blown up has been done before, and this episode didn't add much to it. And why did Summer join the cult? The rest of the townspeople I understand, but Summer's been around enough crazy alien stuff that she should know that the heads are just more crazy alien stuff. And why did Rick and Morty have to make up a new song anyway? Couldn't they just pick fromany number of already famous pop songs? (eh, I guess that last one's just nitpicking)
The stuff with Bird Person and Ice T was pretty great though.
-
They needed a live performance of a newly written original song to appease the big heads.
-

They explicitly stated it needed to be new and live. Not sure how the giant heads would recognize an old song, but they did cover that.
ANd yeah, Summer should not have gone in so easily on the cult. First half of season one, sure, but not at this point, she should be more seasoned by now and not give into nonsense so easily. If anything, she should have been the one questioning things while her parents just gave in and accepted it all?
I'm also getting kind of tired of the parents realizing they really truly do love each other despite what life has thrown at them and they are happier together than they would be in a famous alternate reality or when besieged by chronenburgs or violence from Meeksis or whatever… when they're going to be right back to the same bickering and not appreciating next episode. Yes, that reveal has been voided once by alternate reality or whatever and they obviously have problems... but they really have played that "discover your lost love and passion" card quite a bit now in quite a few different ways. For all that there's continuity, those two seem to hit a reset button every episode.

Alright, fair enough. I guess I just missed that line.

Yeah, that bugged me too, especially two weeks ago with their argument in front of the slug alien.
Anyway, thinking back to last week's episode, I can really tell that this show took a lot of inspiration from Doctor Who. I mean, aside from the general plot of an eccentric (albeit more cynical and immoral) genius who travels through space and time with a "Companion". But a race of aliens that can transform into new people and implant memories into your mind to make you think you've known them your whole life; yeah, that sounds like something straight out of Doctor Who.

This bugged me more than anything. I'm not sure if it's a joke, if they're both that capricious, or if it's bad writing. They better make it clear soon though if they're going to keep going to that well.
-
Really if you told me this episode was written and meant to take place in season 1 before the prom incident, I'd absolutely buy it and it'd fit just fine in there. (except of course for the birdman bits.) Hopefully they stabilize on the other three family members soon or were going to start running into the Futurama problem sooner rather than later. (Where they try to have it both ways with continuity and character growth but keeping everything basically the same no matter what.)
-
Seeing them stabilize and work well together has happened before in the alternate reality, where everything got cronenberged. In that, they were forced to find some kind of scenario where they realised just how important they were to each other. The other version of themselves have been slowly approaching that junction over the first and second season. When I keep that in mind, its easier to overlook the drama that's been occurring between them until this apparent epiphany in the last episode.
Plus you have to consider that Beths only just resolved her position with her father. I'd like to think thats allowed her to focus less on him and more on her marriage.

-when Mr. Meeksis threatens their life
-Chronenburg
-When they get alternate reality television visors
-this latest episodeYou can write off the first two by saying that was the previous universe, and that their realization from the reality tv was kind of minor and ALSO alternate reality… but its four times they've played that bit to the audience in what, 16 episodes? And they haven't even been in some of those eps, or not very much. So in the course of like, 5 or 6 episodes that focus on Beth and Jerry as any sort of subplot, 4 of them have had the same conclusion. It's hitting the same plot point and emotional cord a lot in short order.
-
Yep this episode confirms once and for all my humor is really fucked up, I laughed way too much at the horribleness o_O
-
YES! Now this was a GREAT episode!
-
Considering Rick and Morty are Adult Swim and all they get away with.
I am completely unable to fathom what they would do if they had been on Netflix with no worries about TV restrictions. This episode was brilliant - the Wood-Mech suits were brilliant.
-
I hope that the dimension they are in with the spiders will be a constant thing and not forgotten along the way
-

You and everyone else.
But yeah, this episode was pretty great, though it does make me wonder how much I can forgive Rick for all the horrible things he does.

Man I wish that was the case. I've found it's somewhat rare to find people that appreciate this kind of humor.
The plight of being surrounded by people that are more amused by BBT(not to dig on that it's probably pretty just not my kind of humor most of it). -
Colbert is in all the best adult swim shows
-
I find this episode incredibly messed up yet absolutely hilarious. What's wrong with me?! O.o
The "protect summer" scenes were just… -

Honestly, I enjoy that the series can just drop a massive storyline by simply switching to a different dimension or reality. Its nice having the relationship mechanics progress between rick and morty, but aside from that it seems like everything is either replaceable or interchangeable, which I guess allows the plot to not be pinned down or become stagnant.
That said…..I like to see recurring characters, as well as alternate versions of themselves.
-
So did adult swim explain why there were no episode this week? And if they did, was it as much bs as I suspect?

It's due to the holiday weekend, most likely.
Same reason they didn't air new episodes on Toonami.
-
I missed Jim Rash's screaming.
That was another great episode. I thought I knew where both storylines were heading but who could ever have seen Elliot Smith feels coming.
! Dealing with a marriage through the monsters they see each other each other as was really good. I love how worm Jerry just presented his butt at the slightest sign of aggression.
! I also liked Rick trying to break through via song and dance to get help. Also Morty's get your shit together bit. This whole episode is worth several watches.
! Also I think this is a pretty good answer to the problems that were discussed here earlier with Beth and Jerry being so back and forth. They're in a codependent toxic relationship. So we'll probably see them flare up and make up again and again until finally something breaks and they get the divorce. This episode didn't solve the problem cause the problem is them. Anyone who's been in a relationship like that probably knows how satisfying it is when its working and how infuriatingly miserable it is when it's not and hopefully eventually it ends but not without a major catalyst or change of self.
! I hope I'm not reading too much into it but thats how I saw it and I really liked that. -
If it wasn't for you commenting I wouldn't have known an Episode was out..thanks.
-
! I wasn't sold when I first saw the preview, I mean I figured tiny Rick could worth some zany actions, but it's the kind of thing you see all of the time…
! clearly not, why do I underestimate this show? His song lyrics, the teen angst over the fear of getting older and eventually dying, the point of it all….really not something you would figure from Rick on the surface, considering he's always doin' his own thing, consequences be damned.
! Summer suspecting the problem and jeopardizing her proxy popularity....at this rate she's gonna rocket up and take the helm as my favorite character. Loved the increased exposure the show gives her now. 100 awesome points for Morty's "shit together" scene, I gotta try that on someone now.
! @Taggerung:

! Interesting way of putting it. I kinda figured it's one of those plotlines that's gonna stick around for a while (before the show really feels like tackling it again), then….come back when it's "ready"? I'm poor at words here.
! Beth and Jerry's relationship has always come up in many episodes, but I dunno, I was really liking the creativity of how it was done here. Literal monsters based on how they envision each other, the monster Beth cooking up this rather devious yet ingenious plan to get more slug Jerries to control, rather than compete with more monster Beths in an army. Then Goddess Beth comes along…I loved it all. Great visual components. -
Hehe, I'm far more invested in seeing Jerry's and Beth's inevitable breakup and how long this is going to hold out than I have been with any will they or won't they get together in tv history. Kudos, Roiland and Harmon.
Also,
!
! btw, is it possible to resize images on this forum?and Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch guest starred, I think as the dude Summer was into.

Actually - I have been thinking about Beth and Jerry's relationship … What if Rick and Morty and Summer just keep changing to new universes with different Jerry and Beth's which is why they keep having the same issues and Rick's Garage is always a different design.
I mean it suddenly has a hatch - then its an elevator - I'm sure its been more.
They've shown precedence for it, and its not beyond Rick's morality for it - I mean after Morty had to bury himself he's changed a bit - I'm sure Summer has probably had a similar event by now.
-
There haven't been any hints about Beth's mom, has there?

There is this theory that we follow different Ricks & Mortys in different worlds. We only got to hear specifically which reality we follow in two episodes, but there is nothing that says we follow them all the time. Since the continuity isn't completely written in stone, there is a good chance that we've followed different Ricks from day one. Which in turn would explain why Beth and Jerry are in different stages in their marriage and why for instance Mr Poopy Butthole exists in one reality and we've never seen him before.
-
I like that Morty is getting a bit more savvy about sci-fi shenanigans he finds himself in.
Also really happy that the girl Morty has a crush on wasn't using him as a proxy to hang out with TinyRick, but seemed to genuinely like being with Morty. I was totally expecting the show to go in that direction (and thus have Morty join Summer in wanting to get rid of TinyRick). Kudos show!
-
i think it was more like by association. morty on his own is "lame" but hey, if tiny rick hangs with him and thinks he's cool, then he must be cool. (sheep mentality)
