According to EW, Sony is looking to get the show on a cable channel or streaming service.

Sorry but I can't say I'm sad or mad this show is gone. It spawned a huge amount of fans who bash on Big Bang Theory (while not in my top 10 I still enjoy watching it) because "nerds aren't represented right" or something along those lines.
-
Good time to stop.
-
True. It saddens me that it was cancelled, but I think it's better this way. I was a hardcore fan during the first three seasons, then the fourth came around and I stopped being in love with the series, and then Dan came back on board but still things didn't improve that much. So, yeah.

Oh, please.

Oh, please.
I think he meant to be funny, but just forgot to add in the laugh track so that we knew he was being funny.
-
It's been real everyone
-
Bad way to end, because it was the first season end that didn't tought that was the last chapter.
-
Y'know, Six Seasons and a Movie has been a bit of a mistake in terms of setting expectations. It's less a matter of it being shocking that the show has been cancelled as it is that it ever got to five seasons with low ratings and niche appeal. It's really a pretty significant success story.
-
#SixSeasonsAndaMovie wore out it's welcome pretty quickly for me.
Half shame it has to go really. It wasn't was it was, but yeah.
-
I know I'm in the minority, but season five is actually my favorite. Yes there's some bias, but overall I bough it was the most consistent season of the lot. Yes seasons 2 and 3 had higher highs (though the ACB episode is my absolute favorite) but the also had a lot lower lows. For me, every episode of 5 was at least a B+ (well with the exception of Networking which is give a B).
Also for those hoping to get their hopes up about a hulu deal or something, let me dash those hopes a bit. If it happens it won't be for a while, as, from what I understand, NBC will retain the rights to the show for a little longer. This could lead to a Chuck esque situation. Sony doesn't want to give up on it completely yet, but they're not going to go out of their way to get it.
There are two possibilities though: Comedy Central picks it up, if they can afford it, though this is probably not the best move as it will result in a somewhat large budget cut. The other option is of course Hulu. However this might not be the best thing for the show either. In my personal and professional opinion the show is done. It's heartbreaking, and not just because it means that all our favorite characters died via meteor, but because one of the most ambitious comedies and amazing ensembles to ever grace the sitcom stage is over.
Now excuse me while I go cry in the corner.

This truly sucks, I began watching this show when I was at one of my lower points in live. So having something every week to look forward to that made me laugh was something I truly appreciated. Not going to lie I've probably never been as invested in a show like this one. With all these truly weird and broken people gathering together it always made me feel everything was going to be fine even when I thought that I was broken and weird myself.
I still have fingers crossed for a kickstarter movie, but yeah I had a lot of fun along the way.
I still feel like season 3 had the ending that would have left me the most satisfied, but I'm ok since in exchange for the more loose season 5 ending we got the lie detector episode and meowmeowbeenz.
As for me I was looking forward for at least another season I wanted to see community finally getting out of greendale. -
This has been threatening to happen since like season 2. I'm surprised it lasted this long. I don't think that was the very best leg to go out on but i enjoyed Season 5 overall. I don't know how much more story was left to tell anyway. I'll miss it but I'm not heart broken. It was a good run guys!
-
About time as far as I'm concerned.
-
I'm really going to miss the cast and how much fun they had together on set Nex you know about that first hand. The cast carried this show no matter how good or bad the scripts were. Now let us dance and celebrate
-
We uhhh… saved Greendale?
-
-
Another layer of badness of that episode. I hope subway comes up with a comedy, that last 7 seasons and TWO movies.

Since the season is over… What was the shot that you advised the director and Dan on that was used? I'd love to know. :)
-
Well, I don't really have an opinion on another season happening or not. I liked S5 quite a bit(just saw the Nicholas Cage episode last week again) so I'd take another season, but I'm not really feeling the hope for renewal or the despair of it not happening.
-
This is exciting, because at this point I have been so shunted off to other Sony projects that I know as much as you guys. Though if a season six does happen, I probably won't be working on it. :(
-
Well Ladies and Gents, the show is officially dead. Contracts for everyone expired last night and Sony did not renew any of them even on a short term. After Hulu opted not to pick up the show, this was to be expected.
It's been a good run. I love you all.
Excuse me why I go cry in the corner.

Nex, don't you count us out yet!
YAHOO JUST RENEWED COMMUNITY!

It's inspiring how much times a show can survive death.
-
Lol wtf… I'm happy but lol wtf. I guess it payed off to not be overly hopeful.
-
That's some hell of a mood whiplash between those 2 posts. LOL
-
Wow just wow.
-
The perfect opening would be a TV showing a ruined small section of a city and the news reporter saying:
"After a direct hit on Greendale community college this is the first recorded meteor strike on a populated area in the US luckily it occurred at late last night and there are no fatalities to our knowledge.
such and such reporting for News channel Texas"Then zoom out to the group going
"Who knew there were 2 Greendales?"
And continuing on with their show. -
This is the happiest day of my life.
-
My reaction to hearing the news:
-
that which is dead can never die.
-
Yeah, call me Nostradamus.
Hilariously I got a call from my agent half an hour after posting inquiring if I wanted back on the show. I turned it down. I really just want to be a fan again. Besides, there's a certain VG project that I'm working on.
I'm still crying in the corner, but for a much better reason this time.

"Good news to my favorite group to actually save Greendale, both fincially and figuratively… we're now the best community college with the world "Greendale" in the title. turns to the tv... put his hand on the tv and soften his voice God bless their soul."
"DEAN!" The group shouts in shock and awe.

Some news, under the table.
As you may have heard, Yahoo wants 13 episodes this fall, so they're looking to start production literally as soon as possible–mid August would be my guess. From what I understand, they're looking for an October premiere date, but that is also subject to change, naturally.
Also, this is pure water-cooler speculation from what my agent discussed with me, but while it's only 13 episodes right now, depending on how things go, Yahoo may be interested in a back nine. It's not very likely, but it is on the table.
Oh, and the budget is pretty much going to be exactly the same, for anyone wondering. Yahoo is really putting itself behind Community (which is a genius move to really give Screen some publicity) in ways to no other company wanted to do. We all owe them a whole helluva lot of love.
For now though, I'm just excited that we get to see what Harmon and Co do for a 100th episode.
Oh, and to Yahoo:
-
Seeing as I live in Europe and have absolutely no idea how Yahoo does these things, is this for a paying service? Location doesn't matter since I'll be moving to America soon, but even if you have to pay for this I'd happily do it. A sixth season, with Harmon behind the wheel, with the same budget as before is just… yes please, yes yes!
-
It's a free service believe it or not. They don't even have ads. It's essentially their own attempt at Youtube.
-
Oh wow, that's pretty freaking awesome. This really is a dream scenario in that case, if Hulu or Netflix picked the shop up we would have to pay for it!
-
Oh yeah, now I can cancel my Hulu subscription.
This is a pretty interesting move for Community. The show that just keeps on doing unprecedented things.
Nex, do you know anything about how the season will be aired? (Weekly? All at once?)
-

Works internationally if you use Hola Unblocker too - well I think I might just start using Yahoo more.
They deserve something nice. -

It's going to be weekly. That's the only way they can start releasing this fall. Otherwise you haveto wait for the whole season to be completed. Which I'm ecstatic about. Binging shows is fun and all, but Community has always been one of the few shows I watch live* every week, so I'm excited that I can continue to do so and make it last as long as possible.
*No idea what live is going to mean though.

To be fair I would pay for this series in a heartbeat. And when the inevitable Kickstarter pops up next Spring for the movie, you can bet that I'll be donating every penny I can spare.
-
I hope it being on Yahoo makes it possible for international viewers to contribute when watching it.
It always irked me hearing about the low numbers when I can't even do anything about it.
So for me it's always been dvd releases and putting the show on in the background when the season airs a year later in German with horrible dubs. -

Oh heck yeah, I wouldn't hesitate to pay for another season in a second. To make up for this I'll buy any merch they'll come up with.

Info on the future of the show: http://www.avclub.com/article/community-movie-probably-also-happening-so-long-yo-206415 So crap, Hulu did want the show, but Yahoo wanted it so much more that they made an offer Hulu could not match on their own volition never having been approached. That''s some overwhelming confidence. We will never be able to thank them enough.

Still great that Hulu and Yahoo saw Community potential.
Also there's thisLast but not least: we're pleased to announce one more Reading Rainbow Live! benefit event. This one is a little bit different than the others, however.
If you're a fan of Community, you might remember that Troy (Donald Glover) was last seen heading for a year on the seas with LeVar as his erstwhile first mate. But as a friend of LeVar's, Donald still wanted to help, so we're doing something special:
Donald Glover will join LeVar for a special Reading Rainbow Live ONLINE event, where they'll read stories to you and children live over the internet, while broadcasting from a boat.
That's right: from a boat.
If you want to join in – either during the live event or a re-broadcast stream at a more convenient time -- just add $10 to ANY pledge to get your pass as an add-on reward.
-
That's Meta-madness! And I absolutely LOVE it!
-
Dan seems hellbent on getting Donald back. Also wants to return to the season 1 feel (which I wholeheartedly support as a writer) as best as possible.
Every nougat of info I hear about Community Season 6 is just icing. Delicious finger licking icing.

Got my DVD yesterday. Listening to the Commmentary as I work. Soooo much fun.
