I don't really know much about Funi's voice actors, as long as the voice fits and Funi doesn't repeat their VAs too often, then I'm happy!

You know, I think Olivia Armstrong's voice from FMA would do a great Hancock. Unfortunately, I think that's Clinkenbeard.
Damn.
I think this Jamie girl would work for Perona.

I might be mixing you up with another user, but haven't you recommended Vic for a few other roles recently, too? If so, someone's got the Vic fever.
But yeah; he does seem to fit the part of weird villains.
oliver Armstrong was played by Stephanie young and colleen was riza Hawkeye both voices could work but neither will probably be Hancock since their already straw hats
-
I know Mike has said he doesn't want to use any of the Straw Hats for other roles, but I think Colleen and Brina could be the exception. Their Luffy & Chopper voices are so different from the regular roles they play that most people wouldn't give it a second thought if they played two characters in the same scene (unless you're familiar with the work they do). But that would hard on them to keep 2 roles in check.

I doubt it. The voices for the Straw Hats in particular are meant to have the widest range, so double casting would just lead to Mike second-guessing himself on their takes and worrying about them dipping into another character's voice, no matter how slight. Seems like a bit of a slippery slope. Colleen did a woman's voice in Season 3 for a handful of lines and Brina did a filler character in Season 1 but I can't see that kind of thing happening again.

Nah, the only recent recommendation I made for any future TB roles is Tia Ballard (Megumi from Shiki) for Perona. When it came to TB, I do remember mentioning Vic possibly being a good fit for Moria, but that was quite a while ago, I haven't been casting him for multiple roles recently. I only mentioned it again, 'cause someone was wondering of others thoughts on the matter, so they probably never saw my recommendation. I'm gonna be honest, I like Vic and all, but Moria is as far as I'd be willing to cast him in a "big" role…but that's just me.
-
I was thinking more of Laura Bailey than anyone else voicing Perona.
Laura Baily is definitly a
! Hancock worthy for me

To be fair, this could be said of them tackling ANY other voice acting roles. Does it make a huge difference that that character is in One Piece instead of another show?

Colleen is an amazing actress. Both the voices would be so vastly different that one wouldn't be able to tell they're from the same mouth.

I just realized that I was actually thinking of Sean Schemmel (sp). He's good at crazy people, and I don't think that Movie 10 would hurt his chances.

Exactly my point.
Do Whitebeard and Blackbeard make an appearance soon? If so, what episodes? I know they appear post Ennies Lobby in the manga, but I don't know about the anime version (beside BB vs Ace).
-

If memory serves me right Riza Hawkeye is Colleen Clinkenbeard (Luffy) and Olivia Armstrong is Stephanie Young (Robin).
Either way, Funi has a big enough pool to have some voice diversity especially since they're being stickers for continuity and still utilizing VAs that aren't even local to their area.
O-chan

We should see WB (and Shanks) on Voyage 5. We might get BB/Ace on the same voyage as well if they put 13 episodes.

Toei will start releasing One Piece episode Blu-Rays starting with Episode 579: http://www.amazon.co.jp/PIECE-16THシーズン-パンクハザード編-piece-1-Blu-ray/dp/B00FQHLGCS/ Long way off for the FUNi releases, but I'd assume we'd get them here as well.

Y'know, you have a good point w/ Sean Schemmel. I kinda forgot about it, but yeah, since he's voicing in SW and hell, even Scott McNiel. Those 2 could actually work out for Hogback and Absalom respectively. I still see Vic as Moria since I'm pretty sure he'd be able to get the voice right. But w/ Sean Schemmel, Dr. Hogback seems like a interesting character for him to play. Plus, Hogback, to a degree, is still somewhat of a tragic figure that turned demented, so I'd actually love to see him tackle a role like that. As for Scott McNiel…his Picollo voice (maybe a tad deeper)...'nuff said.
So my casting for our TB antagonists would be:
Vic Mignogna - Moria
Sean Schemmel - Hogback
Scott McNiel - Absalom
Tia Ballard - PeronaNot sure if you'd all agree, but this seems like a fun combination. I do realize that having Sean and Scott as 2 antagonists in the same team might be redundant w/ SW coming out in November, but hey, they're actors and I know Scott McNiel wouldn't be needing an accent for Absalom. As for Sean playing another doctor...well, Hogback is way different when compared to Indigo, so hopefully they'd maybe consider it. XD
-
Scott McNeil is a bigger name in the industry, right? A movie is one thing, but could funimation book him for a 30+ episode arc. That's more than a few meetings.

We'd have to wait and see. It would be nice though. If anything, I still say he'd make for a good Absalom, though I'm sure some might say he'd be wasting his talents on him. But him and Eric Vale out-perving each other would be priceless. XDD

I think Vic and Sean are interchangeable on your list.
-
I think Vic and Sean are interchangeable on your list.
I can sorta see what you mean. But if we take the fact that Vic would most likely be able to stay w/ the show longer (since he is a Funimation VA), he's more of a shoe-in for a character that will reappear a couple of arcs later when compared to Hogback. If Sean tried doing Moria (like trying to be like the JP voice), then I just kinda hear a more evil King Kai…which could work, I suppose. But if Sean did play Moria, here's hoping that he'd continue to come back.
-
Sean isn't a 'funimation va'? I thought he was around almost as much as Vic.

Not anymore from what I believe. I think he moved outta Texas. The only times he usually comes to record (due to contractual obligations iirc) is to dub Goku for video games (and DBKai when that was being dubbed). But he hasn't really been in much Funimation stuff otherwise. Hence why a lot of people were very pleasantly surprised for him being in SW.
Again, I'm not 100% sure on this, but this is what I've gathered from reading posts on the forums. ^^;

Better late than never, I guess.
-
Heh, so PH is getting the BD treatment. Well, at least that arc is more worthy of HD than FI was. XD
-
The idea of Scott McNiel as Absalom makes me laugh. Just use his Silverbolt voice…but evil!
-
I like listening to the One Piece Podcast but I've been behind since the Japan trip episode. I admit my brain glazes over when they reveal the sales numbers but how have the Japan One Piece DVD sales been going anyway? I managed to find a complete season 2 voyage at a local bookshop for stupid cheap, it's also stupid beatup and scratched to hell. Now I just need to find a complete season 1 and I'm golden.
-
Fun fact. Sean Schemmel being in strong world will give him the unique status of being thr only actor to work on both the 4kids dub and funimation.
-
What do you guys think about Troy Baker as Trafalgar Law? Or is there another role that you think Troy would be better for?

I would actually prefer Micah Solusod to play law if troy was going to play someone maybe kizaru because of his range or possibly rayleigh
-
I kinda want to see Chuck Huber as Moria.

Not quite. You might not realize that Jamie McGonnigal, who voiced Kuromarimo (and Eyelash, I've heard) later voiced a corporal under Minchey from the Goat Island arc.

I think he'd be great as Helmeppo, if he ever gets back around to it.

Couldn't we have gotten the Blu-Rays with season 4? I don't think Japan releasing Blu-Rays starting episode 579 would affect us getting blu-rays for season 4+.
-
At this point, I'm fine w/ PH and beyond being the BD point. I know a bunch of people want Season 4 and beyond on BD, but I think Toei doesn't want to have to deal w/ printing out so many BDs just to catch up. Starting at PH gives them a modest amount to make and w/ the way Japan releases BDs (putting at max 3 eps per BD sometimes), PH would still take up a substantial amount of discs. I say let them start here and continue on so Funimation could actually get their hands on these BDs masters down the road. As much as I'd love TB and ID (and some parts of Marineford), the DVDs have been doing a bang-up job w/ the quality. Hell, watching the DVDs upscaled on my BD player on my HD TV actually looks better than when I watch episodes in HD on Toonami (still doesn't make sense to me, but that's how it seems).

Oh I agree about Micah as Law, I've said that him or JYB would be great.

At this point, I don't really care if OP gets the BD treatment or not, except for the movies. However if they did, I would think 517-beyond makes more sense seeing as it's the beginning of the time skip. I know FI isn't that popular but still…
-
I'm sure they'll go back at some point. I'm not surprised they'd put greater priority on their latest episodes.
-
Wow, watching that OPP interview with Ian Sinclair totally pumps me up for Brook even more!
So looking at Funimation's schedule at NYCC, they have their panel Friday (tomorrow) at 11:15 am. Here's to hoping for a season 6 confirmation.
-
I kinda want to see Chuck Huber as Moria.
That's actually what I was thinking too. It just…seems to fit for me. He hasn't had a super major One Piece role yet, has he?
-

No, because Toei won't license Blu-Ray releases to distributors unless a Blu-Ray has already been released in Japan (to prevent imports, since 4 episodes are ~$45 there).

Ummm… What about Movie 8? Dragon Ball Z?
-
@Vegard:
Ummm… What about Movie 8? Dragon Ball Z?
Guess they're just inconsistent about it then. Wasn't really stating a "confirmed" fact anyways, but rather just an assumption based on how I've usually seen it be done.
Although, what other reason would they have for not allowing any of the companies to release the episodes in the format?
-

So far, he only voiced Mohji and Kuina's father.
-
Tomorrow morning. Oh, man. I think this is it. We've been getting sneak peeks and hints lately. Woo. We'll see soon. Sure would be nice if they gave us a cast announcement, though I know that's never happened before.
-

That's right. And Mohji is very different from Moria. I'd picture him using more of a Garlic Jr. esque voice for Mohji, maybe a bit higher pitched.
EDIT: Err, Garlic Jr. esque voice for MORIA, not Mohji.
-
Thats what I kinda picture it as well, but with his Pilaf voice.
-

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand….no announcement. Not surprised based on what they have been tweeting about a surprise appearance at their panel and Ikki Tousen cast members saying they would be at FUNis panel. There are still hopes of Sailor Moon simulcast news at their other panel.
-
While I'm sure their dubbing thriller bark by the hints we've gotten I'm fearing we might have a hiatus after season 5 hopefully a short one tho
-
I've seen all of Voyage 3 except the last episode. All of the fights were very awesome and of course I enjoyed Sanji's fight the most. Still need to watch the beginning of Zoro vs Kaku and the On The Boat special features.
Loved Ian's OPP interview. He's been one of my favorite VA's, especially with Toriko. I'm glad to see he is passionate not just about Brook but One Piece as a whole too.
And I'm really hoping we won't have a hiatus before Season 6. Whenever there's a big break, anime or manga, everyone starts going crazy in between. Usually asking "When will Season such and such start?" I don't want more of that happening again.
-
I really wish I knew where some of you are getting this idea that a break is even a remote possibility. If anything, I've been wondering if they've started negotiations for Marineford yet…maybe even Fishman Island, too. Or if they're about to.

I agree their probably trying to get multiple seasons at once but getting thriller bark all the way to fishman island might be too much
-
I don't really have a problem if they take a break. Since I got a feeling they are going to do the collections right after Season 5 is done.
-

No break! Nononono. They can do this simultaneously.
-
I think the fact that they sped up the release schedule means they aren't gonna have a break. Otherwise, they would've spaced out season 5 more to minimize any waiting time.
-
Going on a break wouldn't be a good idea if they want to catch up to some of the later arcs and fill up the gap in the simulcast.
