@Foolio:
The mafia won't be able to influence the town any more than any other game, and as you just agreed we should keep scum hunting which directly leads to jailing (suspected) scum, which I might add will stop them from "corrupting" the town. Given what I said before, exactly how can we get deceived and confused by the reports? I don't understand your concern here.
Whoa are you flirting with me!? Hey I likes ya and all but that won't stop me from voting you! ;) It's basically your weird insistence on having someone trustworthy after everything Nectar said, and even now despite agreeing with me you are defending the concept and being vague about how it could hurt the town otherwise. Plus the day pushes on. We need to get things rolling because as I doubt anyone would contest, a no-lynch today would be catastrophic.
Oh, you know how I be.~
You really don't see how the reports can cause confusion? Okay, as long as we only jail Townies, we get a string of confirmed blues, all good. But as soon as we jail a Mafia - either by chance or based on suspicions - it won't be so easy to verify. Take the following scenario: we jail A, a Mafia. Next Day, we jail B, a Townie. We then release A and jail C, another Mafia. A will come out calling B Mafia. B will come out calling A Mafia. Then C comes out, and confirms A's story that B is Mafia, where it's not true at all! Then D comes out and tells us it's actually C who is the Mafia, and we'll have our two confirmed Mafs. However, this will be five days later, AND, even worse, both our Mafia will be out of jail and we'll need another two Days to confine them both. With seven Townies and one kill per night, it's pretty obvious how that will work out for Town. And yes, there's only a small window in which this can happen, but if the Mafia can play it that way, we're screwed.
@Nectar:
Bogart, how much time we got?
No, I don't. I want my top suspects jailed and he isn't one of them at this time. You didn't mention not wanting a no-lynch when you voted, just threw Galaxy under the bus and tried to justify it. Also, with all your talk on getting someone trustworthy why worry about getting boxed yourself?
And I am one of your top suspects? It should be obvious I didn't want a No Lynch, nobody wants that. Except for the Mafia but you know.
I'm not worried about getting boxed, I just didn't feel like it, because I know it's a waste of time for Town. But I've come to think of it and now I kind of want to, so that I can be cleared for the rest of the game, and it should be interesting to watch you guys play on from the sidelines.
@Foolio:
I'm not really sure what you're getting at. Yes, unfortunately the process is slow, but I can't think of a more efficient course of action. What's the problem with the first person having overwhelming probability of being town? They will be the first person released anyway. The hard decisions will come if the number of players grows small and no mafia claim has surfaced; we may end up having to abandon the methodical strategy and leaving the scummiest of the two jailed players in there (as opposed to automatically pulling out the one who was put in sooner) to increase our chances of keeping the mafia's win condition at bay.
It also makes almost no difference who the mafia kills as long as we more or less stick to this strategy. But I assume the point you were trying to make is that active players will be offed first and leave the town in a real tight spot if the lurkers won't vote and won't give us any info upon being paroled. This setup doesn't allow any room for lurkers which is really bad for the town.
<the following="" rant="" is="" not="" very="" in-game,="" sorry="" bout="" that="">Lurkers are always bad, and I hope if they get jailed they will at least come in to share their report. Otherwise they're just breaking the game. Like why would you even sign up if you know you're not going to be here and play (looking at you, Wooden_Giraffe). Same goes for Red Hawk, Galaxy, trapped, and Shuhan, who've been largely inactive for now. That just sucks and with the chance of active players getting offed, this game could just get stuck in inactivity limbo which would mean an almost automatic win for Mafia.
<here starts="" real="" game="" talk="" again="">The danger also consists of there being a lurker Mafia, so if we avoid confining lurkers, that's another shoo-in for the Mafia. I was thinking about making an alphabetical list for who to confine when, but I realized that's just leaving us to luck. In any case, we're done for if people keep lurking like this. We need to be able to scum hunt to get things moving faster and avoid losing by lack of time.
Now then…
