it did say there was going to be a fair amount of new stuff.
Put Akainu and Magellan in there and the game will make up for Gigant Battle.

Don't know how exactly to put it, but their are two threads for Unlimited Cruise… I was just wondering if they needed to be merged or what not...

You are mistaken. There's a thread for Unlimited Cruise in General One Piece, but this is the video game forum and this is for Unlimited Cruise SP.

Actually there is a topic for Unlimited Cruise SP in the General One Piece sub-forum: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=31463
It get's kind of confusing.

Yeah, that was the one I was referring to.
So we have three. Sooo… it was you who were mistaken, not I. :ninja:
I really hope they add Akainu, and then either Jinbei or Magellan.
and as someone said, it would be nice if they gave whitebeard his gura gura powers this time, instead of just using the polearm to smack people around.
I would love it if Magellan was added.
If this game came to the US, it would be enough for me to get the 3DS.
As I said in the other thread, it'd be great for them to add more moves to the non Straw Hat pirates….they had some pretty bare bones attacks. Adding more new characters is great, but I do hope they do something about the lack of moves.
So when I was in GAME at lunch making sure that solatorobo would be out friday, they mentioned that unlimited cruise would be as well(Mercs too, and we all had a good laugh about that).
Anyone know whether the combat is any more fun then the wii version? Or is this just a case of extra content.

It's the EU version of Gigant Battle that is out on Friday. And no changes aside from the card system for extra content being removed. So still no wi-fi, Robin, Franky, Brook etc that everyone complained about. It's in english tho.
As for UC. From what people have reported all they've done is slapped a rubbish 2 hour Marineford mode in and removed VS. (instead is one vs 100 and boss rush.) New chars are Akainu, Hancock, Ivankov, Jinbe, Jozu and Marco the Pointless. Nothing new in the main game. Oh and they changed some chars clothes like Croc, Buggy, Ace etc. Apparently there was supposed to be something from the new movie in but never heard anything more.
It officially got announced for Europe for November.

Why is Europe getting everything these days while NA is getting shafted… ITS ALL BACKWARDS! XD
Why is Europe getting everything these days while NA is getting shafted… ITS ALL BACKWARDS! XD
Actually not, we have less games then the US, we are getting them sooner, the ones that are being released in both places, One Piece got released here in the WII so it was expected already, one exception doesn't make our offer better, I'm talking about the 3DS only.
I mean Nintendo games these days as a whole lol… I think everyone knows what specific games im talking about XD

I think with Nintendo everyone out of Japan will eventually get screwed always, its just how it is and they don't seem to be worried to much abotu changing it.

I say this is vengence. You got earthbound and we didn't so we retaliate by getting all the games you really want. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
We didn't get Super Mario RPG till 2007/2008 too… It almost took as long as Duke Nukem did to come XD
Europe didn't get Kirby's Dreamland 3 until 2009.
Europe didn't get Kirby's Dreamland 3 until 2009.
I hope you're joking. No seriously. That's one of the most fun games ever.
Nope, that's right. We missed out on quite a few AAA snes games, apart from the ones above Chrono trigger and FFVI spring to mind.
europe trailer:
We got Chrono Trigger. Unless the one Gamestation was selling a year or so ago was American. :/ Seems strange.
Apparently Gigant Battle Hasn't been released in the UK. Despite the game being in English…. yeah. I don't get it.
No, it never came out here. Gamestation used to sell all kinds of cool stuff, including import games, before they got taken over by Game.
Looks like Gigant Battle 2 is coming out this year. Hopefully it will be bundled with an apology for the roster of the first one.
YoiYoi posted a scan which confirms these as playable:
Luffy, (2Y)
Zoro, (2Y)
Sanji, (2Y)
Chopper, (2Y)
Robin, (2Y)
Nami (2Y)
Akainu
along with Usopp, Franky and Brook seen on the page too. (Although I don't want to say these are playable cus…you know. Gigant Battle 1.)
It's supposed to have 40 chars but who knows if that'll be 40 chars including the supports or 40 playable.
Levels look like Luffy Flashback and Fishman Island (Giant Squid I don't remember the name of.) If they're doing flashbacks I hope this means we'll have proper levels for Skypiea, Thriller Bark etc too.
Hopefully this will be the game we were supposed to get last year.
Well, based on recent patterns, I would assume that it is the EXACT same game with a couple new sprites and backgrounds.
They should make it for other systems like ps3 and the 360
Or I don't know, HOW ABOUT A FREAKING PS3/XBOX360 GAME ALREADY LIKE MAYBE STORM 2 OR SOMETHING THAT COVERS THE ENTIRE SERIES ALL THE UNTIL THE TIME SKIP WITH AWESOME GRAPHICS, ONLINE, A HUGE CHARACTER ROSTER, ETC! THAT'S NOT TO MUCH TO ASK AND IT WOULD MOST LIKELY COME OUT IN AMERICA TO! ALL ANIME PS3 GAMES THAT I'V SEEN HAVE COME OVER TO AMERICA INCLUDING STUFF LIKE FIST OF THE NORTH STAR AND GUNDAM WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HARUHI GAME! Keep in mind that i'm saying those are bad anime's (I haven't even seen ether of them) but they aren't popular anymore especially compared to stuff like Naruto. Also it should be the best anime game ever created and the most amount of effort put into it as possible! Look at Storm 2! It was a great game and one of the if not the best anime game ever created so why not make a One Piece game like that?! I mean don't you guys want to see that?! I CERTAINTY do! And if it had online all of us One Piece fans on here can fight against each other and many other One Piece fans around the world! Wouldn't that be awesome?! All of that awesomeness in one single game! Also Oda should work with them on the game since most anime games that are made without working with the creator tend to suck. Who would guys look forward to playing as most? And what should the name be? You guys are the best ones to ask something like that. Also out of all of the gaming company's in Japan that you know of, which do you think should be the one to make this game?

Because they're making the game for Japan. NOT America. America hasn't even had a One Piece game since Unlimited Adventure. I seriously doubt it'll come out anyways. You're forgetting that Funi would probably have to dub it etc. It's not a case of simply translating like they did for UC/Gigant Battle. With this DS one it also means you can import too.
We don't know if Gigant Battle 2 may be online yet. It's certainly possible.
And the DS/Wii are still the biggest selling consoles in Japan. (or they're at least the ones with the most units shifted) Why would they go to all of the trouble of making for a different system to possibly sell less? Especially when they can just take an existing game and update it with new chars/supports/backgrounds.
Didn't Oda work with them for some stuff in Gigant Battle and Unlimited Cruise too? (Gabri and SW Ace/Shanks. The latter made even more money with merch.)
It could also be that Nintendo have an agreement that One Piece stays exclusive to Nintendo consoles.
There's many reasons. Personally I'm happy since the last two OP games have been kinda meh overall. This just seems like a big apology for Gigant Battle 1 (and with the missing stuff people even said we'd get number 2)

They don't bother with effort because the dross sells. We only get lucky when they toss a license to Treasure.

Not even close.
Whats your favorite anime game then? And what I meant was that it told the story of the show extremely well and was way better than in the anime and manga (though that isn't saying much) and with a pretty decent fighting system at that and to top it all off CC2 actually LISTEN to the fans and when they here complaints about their game they try their best to go back and fix it. And the developers of the game actually like and care about the franchise their basing the game off of. Most company's aren't like that. And honestly what was wrong with storm 2 other than the spamming of certain characters?
The easy test of an anime game is : if you took away the license would anyone remember it.
Off the top of my head, the bleach DS games by treasure were good, and Astroboy : omega factor(also by treasure) is easily the best anime game ever. I still go back and replay that.
Kinnikuman's Generations & Muscle Grand Prix 2 were fun, although nowhere near AKI's earlier WWF No Mercy.
I'v never heard of any of those games except the Bleach ones (you mean Blade of fate and Dark souls right?).

I recall people who barely knew One Piece saying Gigant Battle was a fun game because it felt like a portable Smash Bros. I think it was in a magazine. Most of the hate that game gets anyways is due to the roster. Something which somebody who doesn't know One Piece wouldn't care about.
Of course then you also lose a lot of the fun extras like seeing various chars as supports etc.
Not played it yet. Heard good things about the Jump games, which it apparently comes from though.

yes.

who cares what system they make it for, or what new one piece game they make, cause they aren't ever going to bring it to the U.S. anyway

Well. If it's DS or PS3 you can at least import them and play without much hassle.

i find not knowing the language a hassle
i find not knowing the language a hassle
I don't know the language and didn't have much of a problem playing JSS, JUS, Gear Spirit and Gigant Battle. Was a lil bit of trial and error but they're not exactly difficult to understand games. Even so. The internet usually has a translation to help you figure out what to do in each battle if you are really stuck.
Not to mention Gigant was released in english in Italy anyways.
The best anime games are: (these games are so good even reviewers can't hate them)
Yu Yu Hakusho Gaiden. (It's a fighting game for sega genesis)
Dragonball Budokai 3 (the unique fighting system and balance)
Bleach DS 1 and 2
Astroboy
FOTNS
Shonend Jump's One Piece (Game boy advance)
Dragonball Advance Adventure (one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing)
Ultimate Muscle games were okay.
There's apparently an awesome FMA game never released here called FMA Dream Carnival.
The Naruto games are by no means bad, but they don't hold up well against technical fighters.
Besides, even the gamecube series is better than this. The only problem with that game is the damage scaling is way too high. (but you can turn it down).
The OP unlimited series is the perfect genre for One Piece, since the shounen isn't about fighting. It's about exploring with some battles in it. Could they balance out the fighing system in unlimited though? Yes, and they should.

Missed DragonBall Origins 2
oh god yes. That series was also delicious. Very nice use of the touchscreen too.
Also, if someone says J!US I'm going to pop them in the mouth. The only people who think that game is good, has never truly played it. I've never seen a fighting game with good hit detection and physics have such terrible fight mechanics.
Haven't seen YU YU Hakusho and don't have a Genesis. I thought Budokai was pretty good to. Isn't Burst Limit like it to? I liked Blade of fate but didn't like Dark Souls, mostly due to the crap story and and the lack of any actually new good characters. What about Bleach the 3rd phantom? I really liked it. Haven't seen Astroboy or FOTNS. Is that the One Piece GBA game that came to America? I really don't get what was so good about Advance Adventure for the GBA. Never seen Ultimate Muscle. Also for anyone saying that the reason there is no One Piece game for the PS3/Xbox 360 is that the systems aren't very popular just look at the storm series and soul ressurection. And no its not because their popular in America because One Piece is also one of the big three and its popularity in Japan would easily make up for its lack of popularity in America.

Like it or not. Naruto is quite a bit more popular than One Piece in America. If One Piece was popular enough America woulda gotten Unlimited Cruise, Gigant Battle anyways.
In Japan the DS (and back then the Wii) is still selling more than the PS3 and 360. Why would they want to put it on another system and probably sell less? (I'm not counting UC Sp cus it's just a port with minor additions) Especially when its so much easier to use the existing games and improve on them. (UC was based on UA, Gigant was based on JUS/JSS)
While all of this is true, I'd like to mention that when you make eye-candy of the recent PS3/360 Naruto games caliber, even a non-Naruto fan like me (I liked it before, but I dropped it recently due to it's shittiness) finds it interesting and at least worth to check it out.
Or games like ultimate ninja hero 3 on the PS2, it was filled to the brim with characters, a story mode that was fun, arcade mode, mini games, unlockable stuff. . .
Or, like people said, the two Bleach ds fighting games, they are realy good, in fact, much, much better than Gigant Battle (which isn't a bad game at all, just vastly inferior). And everyone knows Bleach is crap, for someone to realy like a game based on a crappy franchise. . .
And that takes me the point: If a game is realy good or have an incredible production, it will catch the big public's eye, even if they aren't fans of the franchise in question, be it One Piece or wathever. Of course, it is a risky move, since games for the 360/PS3 are expensive to produce, and in the end it all may be for nothing, but hell, I'd like them to try at least once. As I said, if it looks good and/or it's gameplay is realy good, it will probably sell.
I'm sure once the Wii U comes out fans will get the HD One Piece game they've dreamed of. I'd rather have a sprite based Platform game on the NDS but that's not going to happen either.
@Tamike:
Is that the One Piece GBA game that came to America? I really don't get what was so good about Advance Adventure for the GBA. .
No. This One Piece game was actually made in America. Easily one of the best platformers ever. Go play it. (even if it involves being a pirate)
Grand Adventure is also amazing, too bad the 4kids dub is plastered all over it. (However, they fixed Grand Battles awful battle system, and ignored the dub's show edits, like Kuina being dead. They also made Zeff playable.) If you play that game with the mute button on… it's fantastic.
How do you not like advance adventure? Multiple paths encouraging exploration, lots of abilities to handle just about every situation, different play styles to mix up redundancy, challenging bosses and obstacles, extra mode that lets you play as anyone, and the most important part, YOU FEEL LIKE GOKU.
I've never seen a game capture the essence of a series as much as that game has.
Advance Adventure is the most true to the manga/anime game you'll find. That they let you replay the game with, like, any fucking thing that's playable, was priceless. A flying cam? A random fodder soldier? Pilaf's robot? Piccolo's "sons"? You name it, you can play it.
I was specially glad I could play as Yamcha, and he was unique, with his bazooka, his wolf fang fist. . . Too bad he was totally forgotten for the rest of the game after his first appearance, he didn't even appear in the tournaments (I would've loved a Kame Sennin style Yamcha). But that's my only gripe with it.
I didn't know the GBA One Piece platform game was made in America. It was pretty good, too bad you can only play as Luffy. I was waiting to play as the rest of the guys. Wathever.
Well Yamucha never fought Goku again, so I guess that's why they chose not too? But they make you fight Chaozu, so I really have no clue what they were thinking in that regard.
But yeah, it's easily the best game manga/anime based game ever. Too much love put in there. And you can TAKE IT ANYWHERE. You couldn't beat that.
I didn't know the GBA One Piece platform game was made in America. It was pretty good, too bad you can only play as Luffy. I was waiting to play as the rest of the guys. Wathever.
The most disappointing thing about it honestly. Would've added a butt-load of replay value. And seeing how that game was made from sprites, stages, and music of the Grand Battle game for Wonder Swan Color, it probably wouldn't have killed them to program that stuff in. (they only made the enemies and NPC, aside from Tashigi and Smoker)
For good fun however, I had Zoro kill Hachi with Dragon twister, Sanji killed Kuroboi with Mutton shot, and Usopp stunned Chuu. (he doesn't have killing power >.>)
