this will also connect to them going down the reverse mountain, where laboon (brook) and crocus waiting there…so luffy got the disease and crocus is roger's doctor...crocus will tell that story and maybe he just dont know how to make the medicine or what...which chopper will be capable of.

also, what are the odds of the guy crocus was talking to in the cover page back then be SCOPPER GABAN? could be he was living in raftel all along? (and helps the strawhats in there) reason why he can see crocus from time to time? because he is actually just near them?

you said some good things but this part doesnt really make sense to me.
Roger got sick even before he reached Raftel as far as i recall. if he had a medicine that could cure all diseases he would have used it to cure his disease, rather than just waiting for somebody to come find one piece, get sick and try and use the medicine for themselves.
I think the foremost reason why the Roger Pirates could not fight the government themselves after finding the Rio Poneglyph is because Roger knew he didn't have long to live anyways. This is why he left it at Raftel to let somebody else find it.
But if there was some medicine he could have used to cure himself i see no reason why not just do it and save the world himself.

yeah im just guessing…but im thinking the medicine that would be found in raftel (the one that could cure all diseases) is just a plant and is basically a main ingredient to form THAT medicine. so you would need a good chemist to do it.

i dont think crocus (seriously, all he did with laboon is pure patchwork and sedation...though its impressive) fits the bill thats why he cant cure roger. i think chopper will be a top-notch doctor at the end of the series so he can formulate it. that panacea stuff.

anyways, i never knew that...roger caught disease before finding raftel? i thought he contracted a deadly disease after reaching raftel. can someone please clarify it to me?

This picture shows that Roger got the disease 4 years before being executed.
In other words, 4 years before the GPA started.

I've re-checked Chapter 0 just now, which explains the timeline a bit more.
Edd War happened 3 years before his execution and the start of the GPA. Then two years later he conquered the Grand Line and the Roger Pirates disbanded.
Then one year later he was "captured" and executed.

So everything, Edd War and finding Raftel, happened after getting the disease.

Yea I do agree Chopper needs a moment to fulfill his dream, and that medicine would be a good way of doing it.
I'd like it if some of Usopp's lies came true (the medicine and other things i dont remember. I won't say Sniper Island because that definitely exists, proof included) so that would be a good way of handling it. Kinda depends on who gets what (incurable) disease. Maybe Nami again, as her getting sick resulted into the SH's finding Chopper in the first place back in the days.

about ussop's sniper island lie, i think it is connected to him still being known as sogeking in the bounty papers. LOL. i had that theory for sometime and i posted it on "katztarr's corner" wait ill look for it. LOL

EDIT: here it is: the sniper island actually exist and he will gain thousands of followers when they land there because of his alias. LOL. it would be super hilarious and ussop would get a powerup there to beat van auger.

i could see his 8,000 followers singing the sogeking theme while ussop is dressed as sogeking and staring in the horizon (of course luffy and chopper singing along haha)

I've always had the thought in my mind Oda might actually give us a Sniper Island arc, just for the lulz.

Usopp's dream will truly come true on Elbaf though, but maybe he needs a way of having his own arc before that, so maybe Sniper Island.
And in that arc he lets Sogeking come back in his mind one more time only to realize he doesn't need him anymore because he's become his own man.
Or, maybe that moment will happen in Elbaf when he accomplishes his dream, iunnolol.

I also suspect Elbaf to contain a poneglyph.

I have had the prediction in my head for a looong time that Kitetsu will be in Wano, and that Zoro will acquire Nidai Kitetsu there.
Most people think the same way I believe @ Kitetsu being there, or having something big to do with it.

Some people think that Zoro will acquire the Shodai Kitetsu there, because they feel like he needs to have a Supreme Blade, instead of three Great ones.
I do get the reasoning but I lean towards Nidai, because I'd feel it'd be kind of a shame if Zoro were to have a sword stronger than his Wado Ichimonji.
But I'm open for both options, really.

Damn guys, don't get me too hyped up for it…. I wanna get some pleasure out of this arc too :D

hopefully not like FI arc. but i think he has hyped wano more. presenting the wano hats in a cover story and ace making one after going to wano. the sword stolen from wano that zoro now has. the meeting of samurais. having two samurais help them, and helping those two rescue a third one. plus the best swords were made in wano. plus all the intrigue with kaido and DD and how they are mixed up with wano. should be epic

Fishman Island was a good arc because of the exposition and world-building, but the present-time content was admittedly pretty lackluster. It's not my least favorite arc or anything, though. I'm not bent out of shape over the "no Fishman Karate Dojo", LOL.

I'm betting that no matter the quality, the Wano arc will at least partially suffer from being set up too far in advance like Fishman Island was. People were waiting so long for Fishman Island that it just didn't live up to the years of expectations. It probably won't be the same 5(?) years like it was when they said that Fishman Island was their next destination after Thriller Bark, but I can see it easily taking two more years to get to that arc. People are already making lists of things they want to see there and fanficcing in their heads about how they want the arc done.

It's great that Oda is awesome at foreshadowing and setting up future events, but it can and has worked against him. That's not to say that Fishman Island doesn't have legit flaws(my only real problem was the structure of the fights). But along with the post Marineford slow down in pace/excitement, Fishman Island was mostly a victim of hype IMO.

Personally, I find that Punk Hazard is inferior to Fishman Island. Punk Hazard is an overly long set-up arc(for Dressrosa) and at only 5 chapters less than FI, it didn't accomplish enough. I think most people rave over PH because they are blinded by Law being cool and what not.

As a stand alone arc, Punk Hazard doesn't compare to Fishman Island. That being said, I really appreciate set-up and I think it will really compliment the Dressrosa Arc and other future arcs. Although, Fishman Island has potential to be a lot more important to the overall story than it currently appears. I don't think it is fully over yet. I think Madame Sharley's premonition will still come true in some form or another, Noah and Poseidon will likely be put to use, Fishman Island as a kingdom will likely be allies to the Straw Hats in the final war, and the Big Mam arc was also set-up. It's just that Punk Hazard's set-up is more relevant sooner and more straight forward.

If only Punk Hazard wasn't so long(for how little it accomplished), accomplished more(like characterization for Law), or didn't have so much blatant waste of space/time(Yeti Cool Brothers, Smiley chasing, shinokuni fail…). If it was more like Jaya was to Skypiea, and didn't even feel like a stand alone arc, then I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it.

fishman island is pretty cool for me to be honest. and im honestly confused with the guys who hated it….they cant decide whether because its too long or too short.

the fishman island dojo havent been shown but yeah. it was told and promised that the crew will come back there so its prolly gonna happen so we can get more world building there....and they promised to be back on one of the ancient weapon so eventhough they always promised to be back on places theyve been to, you just know coming back to FI is a must.

the fights, its just a showcase of two year training so what do you expect?...even hody's character and his motive/drive as an antagonist is quite refreshing to be honest.

people didnt like it because 50% wanted fighting all the time and 50% always want to see big time characters/cool looking characters.

just look at the reception at dressrosa now. i agree its gonna be a good arc, but most peeps like it because there are many cool characters and not because of the plotline itself.

~ Even the road to it was really nice to watch. Good views on the sea and the fishes, good crew interaction.
~ Some trouble getting there which is nice and keeps suspence
~ The island looked really fuckin nice, the sight was beautiful and the characters (mermaids, seeing caimie en pappag again, especially jinbei) were nice
~ Villains were nice and had the right amount of power (except Hyouzou), with the pills that made them stronger to actually make them a bit threatening even after the Timeskip.
~ The flashback was beautiful and really informative, maybe a tad slow but i dont care, it was good like this.
~ A Poneglyph and some nice insight to one of the Ancient Weapons. Also the prediction from Madame Shirley and the stuff with the Noah leaves us enough to speculate on.
~ Fights were over pretty quickly but come on, it was just after the time skip, it was to be expected… at least we got to see a few good things from the crew, while still leaving more than enough to show us later on.
~ Red Hawk. nuff said.

All this summed up while thinking back on it again I like it even more.
I don't really see what's to hate on it if you look at the overall view. "hurr the fights were bad" oh would you rather see the straw hats having trouble beating these noobs after coming back from 2 fucking years of training...?

Punk Hazard wasn't just a setup for Dressrosa, but for Wano and Kaido too.

PH, in a way, was more important to the current plot of Luffy trying to become Pirate King by making him ally himself with an equally as powerful pirate in order to take down one of the biggest obstacles for his dream. It also introduced great new characters like Kinemon and Caesar (who are still relevant) and brought back Law, Smoker, Tashigi, Doflamingo and Kuzan into the plot. Law might not have gotten characterization, but Smoker, Tashigi and fucking Brownbeard did. FI also had his own share of wastes of space, like Den, The Mermaid Quintuplets, Sanji's lethal nosebleed, Fukaboshi's brothers and most of the New Fishman Pirates.

My point is, PH actually contributed to the ongoing plot by being direct tied to it, whereas most of Fishman Island's plot points seem to be connected more with info about the past, like Skypiea, except this one actually had more adventuring and better plot.

agree with the bolded.see,the fights in FI were not supposed to be lengthy and elaborate,they were supposed to give a sneak-peek of the SH's impovement.in other words,they were meant to make Sh's look cool,which IMO it did.yeah,the villains were uselessly hyped but how else would you have it?
and punk hazard was also good.yeah,it had it's flaws.the problems i found with it were:
1)robin being hard to notice during the entire arc.i seriously wished she had done more.
2)monet and vergo being overly-hyped.i didn't have a problem when this happened in fishmen island,but then the same thing happened here.i mean,monet's snow walls could protect ceaser from a gear 2nd gattling with haki,which(without haki) took down lucci.and she was able to stall luffy.then,zoro half-shotted her,similarly to how he fought hyozou.it seemed repetitive to me.same with vergo,but still it was not as big a problem as with monet.
3)unexplained haki.this has been a major concern of me.even after timeskip,oda has failed to explain haki and as a result of that,it is still a highly vague power.
for example,is the blackness with haki just a visual cue or it indicates some advanced form of it.then there is vagueness about the combination of haki with DF poweres,like law).we still don't know how haki works with a logia/paramecia.
i seriously think that **from a story-telling view it's portrayal could have been better.
4)**and of course,pacing.apart from some ruuning from gas chapters(around 674-677),i found the pacing okay.only those 3-4 chapters were unnecessarily lengthy.and i'm not saying they were unnecesary altogether,i just feel their duration could have been easily shortened.

for me it didnt necessarily have to be immediately but i certainly hope we'll get one over time.

King Cannon, what you said about the alliance and becoming Pirate King reminded me of something I haven't posted here yet, which is that I like the way the New World is being portrayed up till now. Law said at the end of Punk Hazard that there are only two ways to survive in the New World. One is to ally yourself under a Yonko, the second is you try to beat all of them.
I like how this is really visible in the story itself too, with the two alliances both aiming to take down one of the Yonko, and X Drake most likely having allied himself with Kaido or working under him. Most of the Supernovas are following this role which Law mentioned, which I really like to see. Shit's getting serious.

Stronger or simply different. Invisible = like a shield, black = coating your body. But I agree that it definitely isn't the "new visual representation".

It is clear but the fandom just has to keep discussing everything and every possibility until one character in the manga itself has to spout it out.
There is no need to even look at other characters, the example of Luffy is the best of all. He uses Hardening in his base mode because it is superior than normal CoA, he uses normal CoA when in G2 unless he wants to use Red Hawk or a variation of it since Red Hawk is a combination of G2 + CoA Hardening. If it was just an indication for CoA or simply on teh same level, Oda would be really inconsistent post-TS.

and also one thing.vergo's ability to go full blackness mode means that his haki is very strong,as you say.so why was law able to slash him?technically,using weak haki also should render law's ope ability useless.so that would mean that law is using haki with his ope-ope,but it's not certain.but we didn't get a clear explaination about that.

I think Zou would be a small arc for Nami and co. Nami and co will use that vivre card Law gave her to head for Zou, her goal for going there is to bring Laws crew for an all out war on Dressrosa. Like some have said here, those card seat guys(Trebol, Daiment or whatever) probably have their own crewmates. So it will be:-
All 3 crewmates + Doflamingo crew vs Marines + Admiral vs Kinemo + Captured Samurai + StrawHeart pirates(Strawhat + heart pirates)on Dressrosa or green bit. Wish it happens, we get to see what all the Strawhats are made of and maybe this fight will take place inside the colosseum and we get our free for all tournament.

Reasons I didn't like it:
1-The bloody Sanji
2-The crybaby
3-The pills SSJ when it's suppose to be dangerous to take.
4-The absence of the place we should have visit(the cafe,the dojo…)
5- the non-wow feeling for a so long foreshadowed arc
6-The crybaby knowing and not telling who murdered the queen.
7-The punching-bag villain
8-The "nothing" climax.Which pretty much crushed all the little respect I had for the racist involvement(When stated some things became ridiculous).
9-The change from "My race is superior" to "I'm gonna kill everyone for the lulz."
10-And damn it's when I started hating Zoro and Chopper

Well I loved Fishman Island. Though I kinda get some of your points, none of them bothered me.
Maybe it could have been better and all, but for me it was cool the way it was. I don't know why everybody expected that dojo to be shown though.
What importance or relevance would it have to the story, too? Id Ofa wanted to do something with it it would cost him another 10-20 chapters, making the arc longer than it was. I don't think Oda wants to waste much more time. Not saying he wants to rush the story but not spend some chapters on something he might as well leave out.

The reason why I like Fairy Tail a lot more than One Piece is that Fairy Tail generally has more interesting villains while One Piece will follow some grand battle that stated to shake the foundation of the world by fighting some guy who appears to be on the level of guys they met before even reaching the Grand Line.

It would be like if Toriyama had followed the Freeza arc with the Red Ribbon Arc.

Seriously, the guy thinks the current opponents (and probably more directly the guys at marineford) didn't seem much stronger than east blue villains. It's actually hilarious considering how often it's been hammered out that the case is exactly the opposite. It's even more funny when you see the last part of the comment and realize Toriyama technically did follow the Freeza arc with a Red Ribbon Arc

See the problem isn't just dumb logic or ignoring bad writing here though. It's that they're blatantly making things up and saying things that anyone with half a brain could see isn't true. Liking style over substance is one thing, suggesting that enemies got weaker after they entered the grand line is absolutely ridiculous and I just can't understand how they got to that conclusion

hey hey, i take offense to that. I like fairy tail and LOVE OP, I'd like to think I'm not as bad as that.

on topic: I loved this chapter and I can't wait for them to kick ass. maybe the fruit contains the person's soul, like how a new fruit can be produced is by using the soul of the dead person to manifest the new DF.

B/c shonen manga makes a whole lot of sense. I'm all for acknowledging the flaws of the manga but your argument can be used against OP as well.
