Implying Mike Brown would have made any difference for the better in the long run.
More stability probably could have been better on them, but I think it's very obvious it wasn't his fault.

I just want to come out and say I'm in favor of New Orleans Pelicans.
But I like stupid/strange sports team names.
Keep on hitting dem milestones Kobe
It'll be a sad day when you retire. Even for the haters.
Hiring D'antoni was an incredibly stupid move. First, it's an offense that's best with four shooters on the floor and the Laker's roster is designed for three shooters and two bigs. Gasol or Howard shooting 3's? Ha. Second, there probably isn't a coach in the NBA who uses an offense that requires more energy. Pushing the tempo all game long is fun to watch and fine as a strategy, unless the average age on your team is like 58 and has depth issues. I don't really think the triangle is the way to go either, though. I feel like the team really needs a hard-nosed defensive coach who uses a slower tempo to maximize its roster talent.
And it's not as if the Lakers have a couple years to figure things out with that roster.
Gotta say, I love this season a lot. It's definitely reaching its lofty expectations
not even gonnabother anymore
lakers are done. they ain't going anywhere.
I would say calm down, there's a lot of games left. But Laker fans' reactions are too funny
Lmfao it's easy for non-Lakers fans to say "calm down, there's a lot of time left" Come on, you're not fooling anybody. Just stop saying that, lol.
Wow, grats to the Cavs on victimizing the Lakers for their 5th win all year. :ninja:
P.S. Howard led the Lakers with in assists with 3.

Meanwhile I was watching my Knicks win dramatically over the nets with Mello scoring what 43 points? Something like that.
I have to go powder my nose.
it's funny to see the (lol) beside the Knicks in the poll.
^Just goes to show how shitty my predictions are.
Funny how I didn't list the Grizzlies…
he mad. Can't blame him
Thunder have won 9 in a row. Lovin' it.
Thoughts on the year so far.
My surprise team so far in the East has to be the Knicks. I thought they would be in that role as the mediocre Eastern Conference playoff team again. I didn't think Amare and Carmelo could work together (maybe they can't, still haven't seen it yet this year lol). So to see them at the top of the conference!? Definitely surprising.
Surprise team in the West for me is the GS Warriors. They are 15-7 and 5th in the West right now, plus they just beat the Heat on the road. I am rooting for them now because I like seeing Mark Jackson succeed. I don't know if they can make any noise in the playoffs, but just getting there would be more than I thought possible for them. I could've gone with the Lakers as most surprising, but really, I'm not TOO surprised. Yeah, I didn't think they would be off to this bad a start, but I didn't expect too much from them. Takes time for new players to mesh and injuries right off the bat made it unlikely they would get off to a blazing start.
My favorites to win the West are the Thunder (shocker). But they look great and aren't showing signs of missing Harden.
In the East, it has to be the Heat. The East is, as usual, overall weaker than the West. I don't see anybody legitimately challenging them in the playoffs. I know they have been slumping lately, but we all know they will step it up eventually.
And speaking of the Heat, I read an article about the Heat's financial situation after this year under the new luxury tax. Basically it said that they will be required to pay and ungodly high luxury tax and that there would be next to no chance of keeping all the big 3. If that happens, it's hard to see the 20 rings LeBron promised to ever come. (it was 20 right?)
JR Smith's "hot streak" has lasted over 20 games. Color me impressed.
As for the Lakers, their offense is laughable. Maybe because I dislike MWP so much, but it's sad if he EVER looks like the second-best player on his team. Blame that on D'Antoni I suppose. Howard literally got no touches in that 4th quarter.
@Uncanny:
it's funny to see the (lol) beside the Knicks in the poll.
Seriously. I'm still in denial a little bit, but they are a very solid team without Carmelo on the floor.
I'm not a Lakers fan, but it does disappoint me to see them play so poorly. Howard in particular has been underachieving and then whining about it.
MWP is not a bad player. He was great during his first years, and is still valuable. He sucked last year massively, but he worked hard and trained hard, lost a lot of weight, and he's been one of the more consistent players on this garbage Lakers team. He's not missing as many threes as last year. I love the guy. I hope he stays in LA. I know he will. He loves it there.
As for Howard, I agree with Herodadotus. Where the hell is he? I just don't get it. People telling Laker fans to wait have no idea what this feels like. It was ok when they told us to be patient around the start of the season when the preseason was awful, but now? Come on.
Dwight's also at fault here, but he practically never got the ball in the 4th. D'Antoni is working with a team missing parts, but so was Woodson, who clearly owned him.
But what do I know, that was the only quarter I've watched the Lakers all season.
Seriously. I'm still in denial a little bit, but they are a very solid team without Carmelo on the floor.
What? Without him? He's been amazing this year. And putting in a lot of work defensively! Just look at last nights game he got the whole team going with a superb start shooting threes and cutting to the basket. He had 22 points in the first quarter and the knicks 41 points! He got injured in the 3rd and lakers were able to get back into the game. Still a comfortable victory for The Knicks though.
I don't think he's saying that they're better without him or anything. I read it as they're so good they can even be good without him. I really am impressed with the Knicks this year. But if I remember right Melo had his best year after the last Olympics, so there were a lot of people thinking he could explode this year (same with a few others like CP3 too). If Melo and Amare can devote energy on defense all year then they could actually contend for a title.
My bad, I shouldve said "EVEN without Carmelo…"

It's really hope Amare and Mello can get a good vibe going between them this year. If that happens and Amare works on the defensive glass they can beat anybody.
My bad, I shouldve said "EVEN without Carmelo…"
That makes more sense xD
Losing to the Wizards? Making the wizards look good?
FML.
I like Lin, but I think it is ridiculous if he finishes higher than Westbrook in the All-Star voting.
Yao Ming would still be the all star starter if he was eligible.
Very true. Yi Jianlian flirted with making it his first year too.
Westbrook's a flashy player who can get really hot from mid range and the paint when driving a lot of times. Big scorer but not a very substantial player. Sometimes it feels like he only passes the ball when he has no idea what to do with it. Not a "true" point guard but still better than Lin.
Westbrook is averaging 21.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game for the team with the best record in the league.
He has in the past had a problem knowing when to take his shots and when to look for others. However, he has really been better this year. He is distributing the ball well, evidenced by his increase in assists. The whole team is passing the ball a lot better and assisting more. Both Westbrook and Durant are more consistently finding their teammates.
Westbrook is one of the hardest PG to guard against in the game. He is bigger, stronger, and faster than most who guard him. He blows by guys to get to the rim and can post up smaller guards. His 3 point shot has really improved as well.
On the other end, he has become a great defender. Just like in the Olympics, he hounds opposing guards, getting steals and breakaway layups often.
He sadly doesn't get much respect because he doesn't play like a traditional point guard. It is true that he doesn't. But he does fill the role of a secondary option for the Thunder. He scores because the team needs him to, and because he can. He is a match up nightmare.
He was an All-Star last year. He is having a better year so far this year. He deserves a spot.
(This has been my case for Westbrook for All-Star and one of the best PG in the game)
I see. He has improved a lot then. I'm still just disappointed with his Finals performance, but then again, KD did pretty bad too.
Griffin better not win over Kevin Love for All Star. He will, I know it, but Kevin Love deserves the spot much more.
I do know where you were coming from with Westbrook. God knows I have been frustrated with him plenty of times. But he gets a little better each year and I love the guy. One day I hope to see those selfish moments and terrible turnovers erased completely.
The finals performance was pretty disappointing all around with the Thunder. Westbrook and Durant didn't take over in any games like was needed, but I felt they were ok. Not great but ok in the finals. It was Harden who inexplicably went completely cold and started dragging the team a bit. I'm still happy they got there though. I've been proud of them the last few years. They keep improving and keep gaining valuable experience. First they just made the playoffs. Big step in itself. The next year they won their first series and went on to the Western championship. Then they won the West last year. That next step will be tough but at least they have some experience going that far now.
I agree on Love for the most part. He is definitely the more solid player. I think the biggest thing hurting him is all those games he missed.
Anyone thinking that the frontcourt-backcourt thing thats implemented in the All-Star Game will also be used in the All-NBA teams? If so we could possibly see a first team frontcourt of Lebron, Durant, and Carmelo. As much as I love Howard, Melo deserves to be on the first team this year. Even if it is at the expense of NBA's centers.
There have been funky lineups before (A couple years I think it was Shaq, Duncan, KG) but having 3 natural wings as the frontcourt hasnt been done before. Think NBA would pull the trigger on fitting in Melo?
I see. He has improved a lot then. I'm still just disappointed with his Finals performance, but then again, KD did pretty bad too.
Griffin better not win over Kevin Love for All Star. He will, I know it, but Kevin Love deserves the spot much more.
I dont think kevin love deserves it more than griffin, although love played better last year, he missed a chunk of games and since he returned he is shooting under 0,4 in FG and 0,3 in 3p. That FG% is just too bad. Tim Duncan deserves it more than blake but he is old and has gone to few enough all star games so him missing doesnt really matter.
Westbrook is basically what happens if Dwyane Wade gets drafted to be a PG. He is a natural 2 guard, and basically started learning the position in the NBA. His learning curve for the position has actually been very good. Yeah, he's done some infuriating things as a point while he's learned, but he should be allowed those growing pains. He's as high energy and tenacious defender of a guard as there is in the league, and with his speed and athleticism he's basically unguardable if he's hitting his shots (which have gotten better every year as well).
As for Griffin, he's still a very good player but he also has the highlight reel stuff. Combine that with playing in LA, and him getting a ton of votes should be expected.
@Raging:
Westbrook and Durant didn't take over in any games like was needed, but I felt they were ok.
Didn't Westbrook drop like 43 in one of those games? The real letdown in that series was Harden. OKC expected to dominate with their bench but he didn't live up to expectations.
Points, rebounds, and assists for the Thunder's big three in the finals.
! Game 1
! KD - 36 8 4
RW - 27 8 11
JH - 5 0 3
! Game 2
! KD - 32 3 1
RW - 27 8 7
JH - 21 4 2
! Game 3
! KD - 25 6 0
RW - 19 5 4
JH - 9 6 6
! Game 4
! KD - 28 2 3
RW - 43 7 5
JH - 8 10 2
! Game 5
! KD - 32 11 3
RW - 19 4 6
JH - 19 4 5
So yes, both KD and RW did their part. I suppose in my mind I downgraded them from good to ok because they kept losing lol
But like Urouge and I both pointed out, Harden didn't do his part. In 3 games, he was pretty much a non-factor.
I thought for sure OKC had the bench advantage, but their guys got hot and started nailing threes and it wasn't close.
The Wolves did great yesterday with the return of Rubio.
Kevin Love has been pretty terrible for most of this season with two really good games thrown in. If there are complaints about All-Star Starters being selected on fan appeal/reputation instead of reality, think it'd be difficult to make a case for him at the moment.
Ricky Rubio, though…man, I'd only seen him in bits and pieces, but just the twenty minutes he played the other night were enough to make me a believer. More impressed with his defense than I was his passing, since he doesn't have much of a reputation there yet.
Pierce's shooting line last night:
13/16 FGs
6/7 3Ps
8/8 FTs
40 points!
I wouldnt doubt it if that was the most efficient 40 points ever
@The:
When Nash comes back and they are still like these, I am just going to laugh hard.
Get to laughing.
Lol @ the production when kobe's sitting. MWP is good. I don't see why people complain about him. most consistently good player on this team.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
how did we win lol,
Oh gosh, why didn't they showed that game in my country?
Heh they actually won, good for Nash I guess. Now time to see what happens next.
LBJ foul and Lakers at .500?
CHRISTMAS FUCKING MIRACLE
I hope the Clips win so my Cs can end their streak on Thursday :)
EDIT: Nice job Clippers, even if I like the Nuggets more….
Anyways, whatd you guys think of the xmas uniforms?
Other than Miami, Brooklyn, and Boston, I think they are garbage
They were pretty meh
Surprising how there's no NCAA threads on AP, at least, none that I've yet to find. Some people love college more than pro.
Anyway, it's been a while. Clippers wtf amazing victory streak was killed by the Nuggets (these guys never lose at home, it's ridiculous. fucking mountains) and they lost big time against the Warriors today. These guys are looking great. Lee is putting up All Star numbers. MVLEE. Seriously. Should totally be starter in the All Star over Griffin. Mark Jackson COTY? Heh. Not to mention DAT CURRY AND THOMPSON BACKCOURT.
Lakers lost at home to a younger more energized 76ers team thanks to Jrue Holiday. isn't he like fourth or third in overall assists right now? Kid is fucking good. Kobe said we're too old and need to find the right pace. He's right. They're too old, and at least with SA and NY, those two have a deep bench. The Lakers don't. Howard is looking so bad, and Gasol is a shell of his former self. Stoudemire indirectly criticized D'Antoni saying he's never found defense until now, lol.
Lakers could not afford losing against the Sixers. They're going against the Clippers on Friday and are facing OKC, Spurs, Rockets, Nuggets, and Heat in January. Might as well prepare myself for the impending losing streak and going big time under .500
Boston has been doing pretty shitty too, worse, even. Not keeping up too much with them. In other news, KD was ejected for the first time in his career today from some colorful vocabulary while calling out a bad call, just as the Nets owned the Thunder at OKC. We have DMC absolutely beasting with the sucky Kings, and as such, the trade rumors have been pretty active as of late. This guy is good. Real good.
A lot has been happening lately. All I can do is hope that my Lakers can somehow turn things around, at least after the All Star break. Come on guys, even you haters have to acknowledge it'd be great to see Nash win his first ring :( Obviously not happening this year lol, but still.

If there was an NCAA thread, all I'd do is celebrate Purdue upsetting Illinois and wonder why New Mexico can beat a top 10 team on the road and then get whalloped a week later.
On the NBA, a lot of good teams have been doing poorly recently, but Boston always plays mediocre until the playoffs. Just like the Giants in the NFL. If Boston gets in, they'll be a contender.
Going back to the Lakers, the only reason I want them to do well is Steve Nash. If he could win a championship, that would be awesome.
Boston hasnt been doing well, Ive hung my head for the past week lol. But unlike the Lakers, we have a somewhat favorable schedule coming up, so that should help. Also, starting Jan 15 trade rumors are going to explode. Cs need a decent big man to play with KG

I don't think that there is any sane person out there who wouldn't want Steve Nash to win his first (and probably only) ring.. much like Vince Carter! heck even though James is in beast mode right now, I wouldn't mind them loosing against the Lakers in the Finals.. just imagine the entertainment
Despite the Cs having to play in Atlanta and New York the next few days…I'm a HAPPY camper right now. The green dudes just outrebounded the Pacers! This tops Kobe getting a twitter account ;)
I feel management and ownership are in part to blame for this god-awful Laker team
Jim Buss didn't wanna hire Phil because OH NO I WANNA MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS
Well look what that's done, douchebag. Phil WAS WILLING TO GO TO THE LAKERS. Now Nets are begging for him and he doesn't want to.
Ridiculous. This is like 2005 2006 Lakers all over again. Kobe absolutely beasting with a shit team. We have the talent. That's the difference. But no idea how to use it. Dumbfuck Coach Pringles Guy over here has Pau Gasol shooting 3s. HE WANTS HIM TO SHOOT 3s. He has Howard posting up. HOWARD IS A BAD POST PLAYER.
Halftime show went IN on the Lakers HARD. Magic completely shat on D'Antoni. And he's right. This is ridiculous. You guys were right. LA Ironies. Mike Brown would have probably been better than this Pringles idiot. We have no patience. 23 MILLION DOLLARS FOR HIM AND MIKE BROWN. Lmfao.
This is sad. One of Kobe's best seasons, but what an empty season for him and the Lakers. Sometimes it feels like Gasol doesn't even try anymore. When's the last time you've seen him post up? Why are you shooting 3s, Gasol? It was nice for the one fucking time you hit it in the 2011 Playoffs against the Hornets, but seriously, it got old quick.
God damn. I'm sorry for bitcihng so much guys. I'm sure you're getting a good laugh out of us Laker fans being completely miserable but I know at least a few of you are sympathetic. "Wtf is with the Lakers?" etc.
In other news, Gay might be traded since Hollins isn't too pleased with his low efficiency lately, and DMC is beasting. Kings don't wanna trade him. Willing to trade Tyreke tho.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
howard's hurt
Howard is hurt.
He's hurt.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Lol why didn't we trade Gasol when he had the chance. He's done. His soul is owned by Griffin. He's garbage. Biggest pussy in the league.
I love Bulls-Heat games. They always have a more intense playoff like atmosphere whenever they play each other. This rivalry may have lost a bit of steam with Rose being out, but I still mark these games down on my calender.
This was a big win for the Bulls. They completely owned Miami on the boards, outrebounding them 48-28, and that was the main key to winning this game.
Big night for Boozer. Dropping 27 points and 12 rebounds, he played great physical ball throughout the game. His fourth straight double-double.
This bench may not be the bench mob, but they still get the job done.
oh my god clippers are just straight fucking shittin on the warriors. is this nba2k13? holy shit 100 points before the 4th quarter
oh my god clippers are just straight fucking shittin on the warriors. is this nba2k13? holy shit 100 points before the 4th quarter
I think the Clippers forgot they were bound by reality.
