Okay, I really like the setting, the technology descriptions that usually take up a page and the giant designs. Great stuff so far.

So, after seeing all the hype for the anime, I decided to give this series as shot and I was not disappointed.
I hate that I'm hooked on yet another monthly manga, but shit happens. I look forward to the new chapter this month and the anime premiere later this week…
-
Here's the second PV above, but subbed. Can't wait, Titan airs in 11 hours!!
-
First episode looked really nice. No ending theme this week but I liked the OP a lot.
! Eren's mother's blood spraying everywhere was a really gorgeous touch good god.
-
Solid first episode.
Adapted the manga perfectly.
Some gorgeous backgrounds as well.

Thanks though! -
OP:
I fucking love it. -
Yeah, that opening is fantastic. I hope the show doesn't let us down.

Love the dynamics and camerawork of it.

Just had to post it twice, amirite?
Anyone know who's subbing this? There's nothing on the usual info sites.
-
Oh I found out evetaku is subbing it but… one of their key staff is on a college tour >.>
So Shingeki's gonna be delayed. T_T
This is why I need to learn the language. -

Noes!
Well, as long as the subs are good, then I can wait a bit longer (not that I have any other choice)…

off to watch the episode
EDIT:
Just finished wipes tears from eyes Beautiful.
because the first episode is rather slow, they conserved a lot of animation and used a lot of still-frames though.
Instead, animating the action packed scnees fluidly. This is a good thing, they need to balance it so they can keep up this stunningly beautiful art through out the series! -
Skimmed over the raw, mostly checking certain scenes, seems really, really great.
Just to make sure, they didn't at all lessen the scene where Eren's mom has her self-sacrificial resolve broken at the verge of death right? She still calls out to them, begging them to come back?I couldn't tell for sure because I was watching the raw.
I could however tell that they executed the other key moments flawlessly. The sense of "we are all so thorougly fucked",the atmosphere of despair that is pretty much inseperable from Attack on Titan, is there. Here's hoping they keep up the wonderful job and the last of my at this rather minor worries of them glorifying human fighters in the face Titan threat can be put to rest.
-
Yes, although she says it very faintly, like choking on it.
There were censorships as expected, I don't think a lot of the visual gore is going to be depicted.
-
That OP was sex. SEX.
-
What a debut !
-
GG released it, apparently. Haven't checked the file to see if it's a troll or not, but here it is:

I really hope this series doesn't meet a similar fate to the Magi Anime.
-
I have only one word for this first episode, BEAUTIFUL!!! :'( :'(
I have only one bad thing to say, I WANT MORE! I CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER WEEK FOR NEXT EPISODE!P.S: Well, I can't watch next episode until next week so after watching Azazel Z I'm gonna re-watch this episode!
-
I really really love the choice to use the information diagrams as the eyecatches. I adore details like that, thank you anime staff.
-
oh my god the OP is so good
Revo is so good
-
Loving it–-but some of my friends don't like Kaji Yuki no matter what he does, so the only real complaint people have is with his voice.
The sound direction is superb! When the titan was about to show up, everything got super quiet... and then you hear thunder and that sign squeaking on its hinges. More silence, and when you FINALLY see the titan, you hear that nice choral piece with the bells. I'm impressed. \o/
-
OP is awesome.
Everything's awesome.
-
I like where this hype is going. I can't wait to check out the episode later today…
-
Oh wow this was just beautiful. I read the first few chapters of this manga a while back and everything seems as I recall, the desperate, hopeless feel in particular.
And yeah that OP really gets you pumped.
-
Dayum.
I've stopped reading the manga ~2 years ago. Not, because it's bad or anything, but I just dislike reading series like that online. Also I found it a little bit annoying that I couldn't tell any character apart (besides the main three). I will carry on with it, if it's going to be released in my country, but until then I could not see starting with it again.
But I just decided to watch that episode on a whim, although I normally don't watch any anime versions of manga I read (OP being the exception). Heck, I normally don't watch any anime.
But that episode really was magnificent. I probably will continue watching it, but I hope they have a proper conclusion after the 12 episodes. I also would've watched Deadman Wonderland else, but they left out way too much and just ended on an arc that does not conclude anything really… -
2 cour,dudes,2 cour!
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-04-07/attack-on-titan-anime-to-run-for-half-a-yearWell, I should've expected that YouTube-people tell lies… :D

Fantastic first episode.
I trust Production I.G. to faithfully adapt this manga. They were smart with Kuroko's Basket. There's no reason to drop the ball with one.
If it's really 25-26 ep, I believe that a good way to end this season would be to stop at chapter 33.
! End of the Annie's fight and Mikasa discovering Titans inside the wall
Weird decision by Commie to translate Kyojin as Eoten. I may have to switch to another group.
-
That's good then. I was getting fearful we'd have a 12 episode with original ending in there.
The episode…everyones said what I thought really. That opening is too good.
-
I guess we have the "winner" for the spring season, though i don´t know how they will handle the pacing. The first episode adapted almost 2 full chapters, so if they continue with that, problems could arise.

Fish. Barrel. 16 chars of shooting.
-
lol, I just noticed: Are they singing "Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger." (German for: "They are the food and we are the hunters.") at the beginning of the opening? xD
-
Even better than what I expected, and I had really high expectations. The anime has the mangas hopeless feel, and gorgeous art. Great job so far.
-
Well, that leaved me depressed.
-
^Same here.
Fantastic work as expected from Production I.G. The first episode was really awesome.
-
Wow… simply wow. I need more of this show.
-
The first episode definitely lived up to the hype in this thread. And while we didn't get to see Eren's mom actually hanging out of the titan's mouth, her death was still plenty brutal.
This is definitely going to be my JoJo (pleasant surprise) of the season, though I've actually read all the current chapters of Titan…
-
I wasn't actualy going to watch it, but then I find this one by far the most depressing one, the rest are downers, but not as heavy as this one.
-
Wow… that's... one way to close out an episode.
It was amazing.
-
This post is deleted!

Ironically that's probably the "cheer- iest" note an episode will end on. The fact that she was killed so fast before she was fully really introduced, saved us from getting that close to the mom. The stuff with Armin , and the rest that comes next will probably make her death seem almost 'peaceful' in comparison.

It was a bit more like 1 + 1/2 chapters, really wouldn't worry though, the action picks up after the 1st 4 or so chapters, and with the 'workings for their machinery'; both the explanation and the actual usage of it when avoiding giants, (as I suspect they'll stick to canon moves but go a little more detailed then they might've been able to go in manga form), should make the action sequences balance out the pacing quite a bit. Guessing at some points, won't even be able to finish a whole chapter to it's correlating episode.

Don't worry it gets worse.
Feeling of despair in this series is rivaled by none.
