Beat the game today. Hated it.
One Piece: Musou/Pirate Warriors - PS3

Just finished Enies Lobby. Right now, it's a fat 6/10. Kaku and Jabra's boss fights were too short, Blueno's was too long, they missed out on Kalifa, Fukuro, NO GIANTS, Kiwi, Mogu,or any of the Galley-La shipwrights….
-
FINALLY I CAN POST! (Sorry email issues) So i'm loving this game. It was definitely made for me. It can be a bit tedious with the puzzle sections and yes playing for like 4 hours in a row can make it boring but playing an hour or 2 a day the way i have been makes it endlessy enjoyable. Unfourtunately my save data got corrupted and now i'm back at drum island. I made it up the impel down btw beforehand. Anybody want to play co-op in an hour or so?
-
Oh, wait. It turns out that the reason Luffy's clothes didn't change throughout the main log is because I had selected "Luffy (Standard)" option instead of "Episode Costume" when I first started.
Silly me. Hahahaha….@Fuwa:

Blueno's wasn't too long. At least for me, I beat him in 3-4 minutes tops. The giants probably would have been too hard to have moving around the maps.
And Kiwi, Mozu, and the shipwrights aren't really necessary for the game anyway. -

Not as important as say… Syrup Village, Skypeia and Thriller Bark.

THIS. It's amazing how much i manage to like this game even though my second favorite villian (Kuro) and my favorite arc (Thriller Bark) are absent.

I actually raged right after Enies Lobby:
Brooke: "So where is my story?"
SABAODY TRANSITION
wut.

No Smoker!? Really!? Just started Alabasta arc. Fav game.
-
So.. Do the "Tears" and the "Nothing at All" skills stack?
So that i can get hit 2 times and not loose any beat.
And is there a best place to get the Boa Hancock Coin or is it completely random? -
Coins are mostly random, however playing as characters (or against them) seems to me to increase the drop rate. Just play as Boa Hancock a lot and it should eventually drop. For example when I was missing Magellan for ages, I just kept playing Jimbei's Impel Down stage, and after a few tries finally got it.
Not sure if skills stack or not, sorry.

So after more in depth play through yes, this game was made specifically for me and people like me. Dear god do I love this game. As of typing this I have had to play through the story mode up to drum island a total of 3 times. THREE times within the span of a few days I had to carry nami around, re farm coins and have my move set drastically cut as I was sent back to level 1. And you know what I would do it again because its the story of one piece I'm reliving and it's a dream come true.
The Musou style fits great and the boss battles at least in the main mode are varied and intense enough that it authentic. I adore all the little touches like sanji running the fastest out of the strawhats, zoro being able to charge his oni giri, Franky's hair drooping when he's low on coloa, and Laphin being stronger than some bosses. I played the impel down stage today and running up those stairs, mowing down guards as crocodile, jinbei, and ivankov send guys flying past me was just what ive always wanted from a one piece game. And then for me to reach the top level, only to find minatouros waiting for me, me to immediately use gear 2 and hit him with a jet bazooka and see how little damage it'd done… I just don't know how to explain it. Then there's the realization of diable jambe and monster chopper in all their glory and I HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED WITH BROOK AND ACE YET who are two of my all time favorite characters.
I can confidently say that I will be laying down cash for any sequels to this game unless they somehow manage to make a game with less content than this one. I also want to thank everyone here who bought this game and who will continue to support this franchise so that fans like me may continue to use monster chopper to get lucci in the corner and beat the ever loving fuck outta that pompous tomcat.
-
I do admit the game is fun for what it is, if you can look past the roster, movesets and repetitive levels its all good fun. Hopefully they'll announce a 2nd one soon, wonder if that will stay exclusive tho. Wii U seems to be getting Ken's Rage 2 and Warrior's Orochi. No reason for this to stay exclusive again.
-
How do u beat the main log episode wen u fitht franky on hard?
-
I found use bazooka to push him off the platforms up top quickly and then let zoro distract him on the ground and attack him from behind to work well.
-
Got the game this weekend! I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm having a blast mowing down enemies with gattling guns. 11Gig! This game must be Ginormous.
Can't wait to play as all the other crew. Buggy sure has a lot of crewmates. :) -
If you want to play co-op online add me. My PSN is in my sig.
Question now. I bought the download in NA and I also bought and had imported the special edition From Hong Kong So I could get the downloadable content from PlayStation network. In order for me to get the downloadable content that was inside the box I was told to create a Hong Kong location PlayStation network account which I did And it worked but that downloadable content was free my question now is "can I purchase the expansion packs that were released in Japan from my Hong Kong's PlayStation network account?" And "how do I do so?"
-
errrr. Why buy the foreign versions of the game when the DLC is up on regular PSN? At least its up on the UK one.
-
Since I went home and to a friend's house for Extra Life I finally got to download and start playing this game (was hoping to sit down and beat it all that day, but the Water 7 level got me nauseated).
It's a fun little game, I enjoy it minus the puzzles. I can see how they are fun, but I spent awhile flipping around Water 7 trying to get to Chopper and it pissed me off. I did the CP9/Enies Lobby and then Saboady last night (Kizaru was a pain in the ass lol). I'll pick it up again in a bit. I too was disappointed with what they cut out of the stories and the shortening of things, but yeah they weren't important or necessary to the game (they also glazed over Robin joining, which was kind of dumb, and then of course completely cut out Brook's story all together).
As a hardcore fan it's annoying, but I think they figured this would be a game that would mostly be played by big OP fans and they already know all the little details anyway. A few people who don't know anything about OP watched some of the cutscenes while I was playing and were really confused XD I don't think someone not in the know would really follow the story that well (unless they were just in it for the fighting)
Yeah it's definately fun playing an OP game in the musou style. It fits really well. I was doing really good at first and then I suddenly stopped getting trophies >_> Got to figure out where I'm sucking at XD

I bought both. Two reasons
1. To have a physical copy ( collectors like that)
2. To increase the sales of the game. -
Does anyone know or have heard of DLC coming to the US? UK has already gotten a ton of DLC while we got nothing.

My psn is kibajustin_2.

I've been reading the reviews on a ton of sites ( courtesy of gamefaqs) and its heartwarming to see that even the reviewers who game the game poor scores loved the one piece characters and story. It just goes to show how wide an appeal one piece has and how well Oda has crafted his story. Tear

The DLC is up in the NA store but you have to literally search for it. If you just go to new add ons it isn't there.
Edit: Also if you go through the game menu you can reach the DLC that way.
-
I'm biting my tongue and buying the dlc to support One Piece in the states. God, I hate this game.

Right. But it's also a good game if you consider counting steps a game.
EDIT: It's a good game counting steps-wise.
EDIT: It's a good game if you compare it to throwing rocks.
EDIT: It's a good game if you only watch the cutscenes.

No it's not. The level count is pathetic and unvaried, and the character roster is tiny and wildly unbalanced.
I normally clock 80-100 hours into musou games. I barely managed 20 on this one before I was bored with it, in spite of the One Piece characters.
-
Thats because of the low roster
-
@Money:

Not at all. If the levels were good, or the characters were balanced, if there was legitimate stuff to do aside from coin grind, 15 characters is plenty. Sengoku Basara did just fine with only a few characters, but they were all wildly different, and every stage was unique in some way.
OP… Luffy got all the development time and the others were afterthoughts. Chopper is practically unplayable, Franky has a horrible design decision, Brook is unremarkable, Nami is bleh, and Ace and Whitebeard are horrendously overpowered. (And Jinbe is too slow, but I won't hold that against them... much.)
-
Bought the DLC cause I was excited about it. Finished the first mission (Vs. 1000) after failing it once due to the time limit. Just tried the second mission. Failed as Usopp and Zoro so I defected to Luffy who was my highest leveled character. With Luffy I was able to get much farther into the challenge and even got to the boss fight.
So there we are, all the territories are captured and only one enemy remains on the map. Krieg, Arlong and I all rush to the area to face the boss Blackbeard. But before any of us can even land a hit, he uses his powers to recapture every territory. Then as if that wasn't bad enough, Wapol, Mihawk and Crocodile all return. They all return to the same area where we're fighting Blackbeard. Needless to say I was quickly overwhelmed. The weakened Krieg fell first and I was eradicated before Arlong met his fate. Hoo boy that was infuriating but at the same time kinda cool. I really enjoy being able to fight alongside enemies. Especially the East Blue big-bads which remain my favorite in the series (if only Kuro were there).
Anyway tomorrow night I'll return to tackle the rest of the challenges with the difficult turned down. Hopefully they won't be so difficult on Normal.
-
so you have to add people to not just play online to get the other coins?
-
I ended up really liking the DLC where you have to side with either Akainu or Aokiji. Its was crazy, I had Aokiji,Kizaru, Whitebeard and Usopp all following me to fight Akainu.
-
Still loving the stuffing out of this game. Haven't played in a few days and i can't wait to get back to it. I admit it was a bit of a chore leveling up nami to the mid twenties a 3rd time but despite not enjoying playing with him nearly as much as others ussop is fun as hell to mow through bad guys with. An his ONI mask from the DLC is awesome. Just begun leveling up my favorite character Brook, gonna so robin next and then Ace which I'm super excited for. Then begun the challenges! ^.^
-
I have to say Usopp is my favorite character. Was not really to much of a fan of him at first but once he got his Kabuto damn is he amazing. All that range, and once you get impact dial and breath dials those are amazing. Also his Sogeking powerup is insane.
Other favorites are Zoro, Franky, Luffy and Jinbei. I am not too much of a fan of Robin, Hancock and Chopper. Robin and Hancock seem good, but not my style. Chopper just ugh…

I walked through enies lobby like Chuck friggin norris with him. I also like that you can change direction while firing his square and triangle combos so you can always redirect your attack towards the guys charging their attack.
My favorites are Sanji, Zoro, Ace, and Brook
-
Just unlock Franky Robin n Brook! Franky's an unstoppable BAD ASS. Robin's good but playin as her in weird, her second ultimate is limited to one person. Brook's awesome , but wat does his R1 do?
-
Chopper's just pathetic in this game, but he was still more of a joy to play as than Franky and WB (and Ace. But that's due to me disliking him in general) his problem stems from that he's clearly half finished and missing half of his forms.
Most R1's are for counters save a few. IIRC Franky's makes him playable for a lil bit longer, Brook's keeps his music tempo up (I never really understood WHAT the point of that was) and Luffy, Robin and Chopper's blocks pretty much anything at the right distance. (That's right. Robin can block Magma with her hands.) Maybe it just depens on how you play. Robin's my favourite character so I went out of my way to figure out how to use her, her 2nd attack only targets one person however can do some lethal damage to them
-
Brook's R1 i think is the one where if the enemies are asleep if kills them instantly. I never bother with it, or is that his R2, i think his R2 gives him a meter and his attacks get better. Franky's R1 is Fresh Fire, and his R2 is cola replenish.
I agree Robin's second attack is insane. I got Kizaru in it and BAM! half his life bar gone.
-
You got Brooks's R1 and R2 confused. His R1 boosts his attack and defense and his R2 slowly does damage to everyone that's asleep. It does not insta kill. It would be so much better if it did though.

Idk I don't hate playing with chopper cuz I love using monster point. He's certainly one of the worst but up till enies lobby he's fine. I played with someone online who used chopper and we played the scaffold stage. He died in 7 minutes so I wouldn't use chopper on there or impel down.
-
Japanese ps3? Nah. Just buy this.
http://www.amazon.com/Warriors-Kaizoku-playstation-3-PC-Mac/dp/B008J4Q8D2/ref=pd_sim_misc_7
-
I like Chopper's monster point and some of his moves are ok and fit Chopper, i just hate how some of his forms are underused and some are not used at all. Also bugs me Choppers running animation is in brain point. Also jump point should have been used for some aerial attacks. I have never really been wowed by Chopper in any of the OP games i have played though.
Also if you guys wanna play sometime my PSN is Brokeslimjim, so feel free to add me. I don't have a mic, but can still play. I only have Luffy at level 50 and i think my next is Usopp at level 35 or so.
-
Why does Brook log have only 1 mission? What are all of choppers usable points?
-
@Money:
Why does Brook log have only 1 mission? What are all of choppers usable points?
Out of all the areas featured in the game, Brook only appeared canonically in one of them. Not that it really matters. You can just use him in another character's stages in Another Log.
Chopper uses Brain and Heavy points during his normal attacks. His first special attack uses Arm point. His second special attack uses Monster point. His R1 technique is Guard point.
-
Chopper is a useless support. Hes always dying, ALL THE TIME! I cant beat sabody cuz i cant leave him alone for 2 mins without him loding 75% of his health nomader what I do. How can I prevent this or heal him?
-
For me I leveled up Franky and got his second special attack so that Chopper would lose less health in the Franky/Chopper vs Pacifista battle.
Also, what difficulty are you playing on? I tried to play on Hard as much as I could, but I eventually had to switch to Normal on Sabaody when it became too much.
