@Noqanky:
On the other hand I'm tempted on picking it up and doing a silly run-through, either what I would do as an 8 year old and just choose the cool pokes and blaze through the game without a care
That's the best way to play it.
for IVs or EVs or moves or balance,
I know that's some people's bread and butter, but I can't see the fun in doing that for a playthrough. Nonstop breeding and planning takes the spontenaity out of it… save that for post game when you're doing the high end challenges or player v. player.
or do that challenge in which whenever a pokemon faints you have to release it, which forces you to really care about healing, defense, and catching.
You alos have to catch the firs thting that shows up in an area, and only that thing. I want to try a nuzlocke challenge at some point myself, but I can never bring myself to just start the new game and delete all the old data.
Alternatively, I would also find it amusing to just choose all the cute/interesting pokes I never used due to them seeming useless stat-wise and winning the game with them.
Thats fun too. Thats the great thing about the franchise. So many critters there's near endless ammounts of ways to play.
Also, finally beat the game. Ferrothorn was my main beast. Ended up 10 levels ahead of everything… and once he ingrained and had a couple defense boosts up, he just couldn't be hurt by much of anything... while they all killed themsleves hitting him. Between his thorns and a rocky helmet, it just destroyed everything.

Nami, Merry, Makino, Zoro, Franky and Luffy(was named Scruffy originally) I also had a staryu named Usopp along the way. Eagle Sanji, Marril Jinbe, Jellicent Perona, Sawsbuck Chopper.
Liepard was one I found in a hidden hollow and its prankster ability intrigued me so she stayed in all game at the front of my party… The Golurk was a late addition on victory road, because I couldn't remember its typing the first time I saw it and he happened to be immune ot everything she threw at it (thunder wave, attract, fake out) and I realized with each attack "immune? oh okay, must be ghost type.... immune to that too? wait, must... also be ground type!" So it impressed me and I had to catch one... and then upon looking up its move set discovered it can learn FLY!
So he's stuck in the party now. And Stoutland just proved to be a beast that could survive bad situations the whole game, totally earned his place in a couple spots where everything else had been killed but he kept on trucking.[/hide]
Gonna switch the team up a little bit for the post game (I no longer feel guilty about using legends or traded critters)
