the Aokiji "code" is literally just a series of islands you have to travel to in a specific order on the world map that automatically unlocks the Aokiji event.
if you actually bought the game it should be right there on the slip of paper.

Kaitouu, are you using cheats or are you just grinding for hours?

Yes and no.
For recording purposes, I was using cheats to get through the game fast and provide the full playthrough. (Although using cheats is now kind of moot since I fallen behind do to holidays)..I'm almost done with the game though
And no, because I'm not using cheats on my save for fun.

I figured. I was watching your playthrough to try and help my friend beat the Alabasta stuff and we saw how good you were doing and we were wondering how you did that without grinding for years or using cheats. lol.
Regardless, from what I played of the game, it seems like fun but a bit too much on the difficult side for my taste, especially since you literally have to start all over on a level to grind.

Not to mention if has Metal Gear Solid 4 kind of cutscenes, except they suck.
One Piece: Texture Dawn.

One Piece: Texture Dawn.
Not to mention every map is just a simple maze with absolutely no creativity; a start point and a end point with tresure chests and simple battles in between.
IMO this game can't even be called an rpg, you never get to exploxe ANYTHING!!
No walkin' around Loguetown and talkin to the owner of the sword shop or visiting the gallows. No riding yagura in water 7 or spot billed duck in alabasta.
I don't know why they didn't use songs from the anime(there are Plenty of good ones), but the opening song is the only song in the game thats memorable.
Is it me, or did Bandai just spend time on the battle system/Boss fights and give the finger to every other aspect that makes a good RPG.
-
How does the game far up for character choice? One you unlock say….Chopper and Robin can you use them permantly on the team (imagine you lose control of Robin during W7) or is it like the other OP games where you can play them every now and again but uiltimately they'll force Zoro and Sanji on you over and over

Thing is, a sequel could happen considering how well it sold.

I'm a bit late to this thread discussion, but I finally had some time to play this game and I beat Morgan on my first try! He was a bit challenging, but I had Luffy with Gomu Gomu Pistol Lvl 2, and Combo leveled with 3 combos for the triangle attack. Zoro was the one who was getting his tail kicked, but I kept him alive and actually finished Morgan with Zoro, just like in the manga!! So far the game is very fun and since I have some basic knowledge on katakana and hiragana it's really not that hard to understand most of the items and menus. If they do a sequel, what would they be able to add differently from this one? I was thinking they wouldn't make another game like this until the manga is really far, close to ending, or has ended. It would make so much more sense to call the next one "One Piece Romance Dawn to the New World".

English translation project :) it still in beta though.

Just a little spam here, me and Jason from the OPP started playing Romance Dawn for our Grand Line Gaming stream, unfortunately we had to do a cheapo webcam capture so the video and audio is crappy, but hey this game sucks anyway. Watch and listen to us make fun of this and talk about OP and shit.
Oh and Greg shows up partway through to talk as well.

Sorry for the bump, but did anyone ever figure out the item fusion system? Or have a link to somewhere that does?
I can read all the Japanese text just fine but this particular mechanic is still completely cryptic. -

Bumps..thread..is the psp version any good?
If its good might as well get my psp which is somewhere laying on wardrobe ..xD -
I´m not 100% sure but I think this text announced a Nintendo 3DS version of this game, on sale 8th August in Japan. I hope someone could confirm it ^^
-
Woohoo! Chances are this game will be ported into English if it reaches Europe, which is quite likely! Not that I'm terribly excited as the game doesn't seem spectacular, similar to the GBA and GBC RPGs. Perhaps some fans will translate them someday?
-
I'll buy and beat any game that comes out in English. Be it US or Europe. I bought a Europe 3da, so I certainly hope someone comes out with the unlimited game. I wouldn't mind playing this psp port, either.
-
Honestly the PSP game was a pretty bad game IMO (the only good thing was the battle system). So, unless they completely remake it, I won't look forward to that game.
-
Yes, this was a bad game. Unless they are entirely rebalancing it and adding new features it's a waste of money.
-
Tell me about it. What was bad and what was good about it? I haven't played or seen much of it. The graphics looked shitty, but that's about all I saw.
-
- RPG progression, learning moves from the story as you level up and being able to power them up with skill points
- it covered the story more comprehensively than any other OP canon game
- the newly reanimated classic scenes look nice
- battle system has potential for good ideas (moving around, attacks have various ranges, etc)
- graphics aren't awful for a PSP game
- all you do is run down identical corridors and fight enemies, the environments are as flat and cookie-cutter as you can imagine, the levels are huge and you run super slow so everything takes forever
- squanders the battle system by having the exact same enemy groups that can be defeated with repetitive simple patterns (i.e. use Luffy to beat one guy, then have Zoro and Sanji take down the tougher one, etc)
- no voiceover for dialogue
- story scene pacing is atrocious and either edited not enough or way too much–many scenes are taken verbatim from the manga and are far too long and awkward for a game (text) format, some get abbreviated into a single narration sentence (i.e. Luffy met Laboon and Crocus! moving on...)
- there's RPG equipment but almost none of it is reflected in your appearance and it doesn't FEEL like you're upgrading
- item synthesis system is awful, incredibly confusing and not explained at all by the manual and in-game help
- game balance is terrible, some story levels are super easy until you get to a ridiculously hard boss that is impossible to beat without grinding
- grinding is only done in side maps that consist of nothing but endless, empty corridor environments (see above)
- "towns" consist of a shop menu on a world map, there is no strolling around and talking to NPCs of any kind
-
Good :
- Battle system
- Anime cutscenes
Bad :
- Bad level design
- Unbalanced difficulty
- Boring and repetitive dungeons
- Boring story mode (biggest con for me) : not really interesting since you already know the story and you can only play as the characters that were doing things in the manga which basically means 80% Luffy and 1% Brook
I could continue with a lot of bad things.
-
Thanks, guys. I'd buy it to support the series on 3ds. I'd even play it to completion, probably. But with unlimited games I've sunk about 150 hours into each. Doesn't sound like I'll sink half that into this.
-
New Jump scan.
What is that? A sequel?
-
-
-
From what I can read… it looks like there is a new costume option? what will differ from PSP game?
Anyways, I will buy this only if they'll fix the major problems that where discussed earlier...I couldn't bring myself to finish the psp version, once I heard that a port for the 3DS is coming, because of the slight chance they'll improve the game.

I guess with the way they are going it we can expect Red to come out next year too
-
Hmm I might get this then! Probably not on its release though.
-
Huzzah! It'll be nice to play a One Piece RPG in English for once XD
-
What scares me about this is that it isn't a great game. If sales are bad it could hurt the chances of the next unlimited game coming out , which I want so much more.
-
"Good" news! Namco Bandai is sending Europe a giant wooden horse…
-
I'll be playing it, regardless. Must support. It can't be too much worse than pirate warriors.
-
Well that's good news, I guess we'll be getting World R too then, either way I'll buy it to show support
-
This makes me hopeful that J-Stars Victory will come over too
-
This makes me hopeful that J-Stars Victory will come over too
Not happening. That's a whole different story there (too many licensing issues).
-
So only us Europeans get this shitty game?
-
woah niceee, never new about this.

No go for America http://www.siliconera.com/2013/07/08/the-love-affair-is-over-one-piece-romance-dawn-isnt-coming-to-north-america/
! At Anime Expo, we asked Namco Bandai if they will bring One Piece: Romance Dawn here since other titles have been confirmed for North America. Unfortunately, a representative said to Siliconera there are "no plans" to release One Piece: Romance Dawn in North America.
One Piece: Romance Dawn is slated for release in November 2013 in North America.Well, that's an interesting error.
Oh well. I would've bought it if it came here, but that isn't happening.
-
I wonder if enough people bitching about it would get Namdai to change their minds and at least put it on the eShop. Once the actual localization work is done, digital publishing costs practically nothing. They have nothing to lose, except maybe the privilege of giving North America the finger.
-
I made a petition to bring One Piece: Romance Dawn 3DS to NA:
All the details are in there, but in short, Namco Bandai was REALLY impressed with the Dark Souls PC petition that reached 65,000 signatures.
Hopefully you guys can help spread it to as many other fans as possible.
