The four-beast was fodder from the very start, even the main body. The story-telling formula is so cliche that it's a cause for reflection upon the reason an adult enjoys Shonen manga.
I continue to enjoy it because of the monster designs. I'm quite entranced by them, even though most of them are fan creations. The story is basically Dragonball, which wasn't original either (Journey to the West). The villains and heroes are rehashes of older heroes and villains, such as those from FotNS.
I know there is a riveting discussion going on here, but the Daz is points out the obvious, and he is right.
Unless it's proven in the next chapter that the four-beasts really did get KO'd from the 4 Kings' attacks instead of KD'd, then I disagree.
-
I'm glad the 4 beasts haven't actually been creamed so easily, we might actually get to enjoy the battle now (fancy that)
-
I believe this calls for a quote of one of the great thinkers of our generation.
@Nelson:
HA HA !

Awwww, crap. Why did I check this thread out just before the chapter comes out? Well, not a big spoiler anyways.
I just hope that the trend of "bigger is better" doesn't continue for long. Most new world class beasts have been HUGE, and I want to see some fights with creatures somewhat similar to the Nitro and the GT Robots.
Does anyone have any idea about what the heck Zebra's new attack is about? It just looks like a first thrust, and one would think that it would be more effective at close range (like Toriko's fork and flying fork). It's nice that he's actually using his huge arm muscles for something instead of his lungs, but I don't get where the "sound" plays a part of it. I kind of expected something like The Hulks clap attack, lol. -
Pics of the raw.
-
Jesus Christ, best development for the 200th chapter.

Was that Uumen in the shadows behind Mansam?

And now we can say it for sure: the Human World is completely screwed.
-
-
Well done Shima. I gotta say everything went down as predicted, but deer god. It went down GOOD.
! How many hundreds of people got eaten already? In a train i'd say at least 200?
Lets do a human snack count. -

Thanks, I was trying to think of something along those lines. But having someone elses take on this helps a lot.
It sure is a weird type of attack, but I guess they all are.My favorite powerup so far is Coco's. A bow and arrow as a standard weapon to send out his poison fits him perfectly. And the spear too.

Is it just me or are others also thinking the 4beast will pull out something like this?

I have pictured something like that many a time.
-
Did you all read raws and transcripts or was the chapter released somewhere?

raw + script, chapter has yet to be released with the translation, but we already have the two parts of the puzzle so we can see the picture P:

Kind of the same way we used to read OP chapters in the elden days.
-
Chapters up, thanks Kewl.
Now THIS is what I've been waiting for. Finally some actual tension in the air.
-
I already printed the colorspread as a poster for my room x3 finally i have Toriko posters (°ω°;)
-
And here I tought that One Piece heve silly Dockings.
-
Looking at the explaination, i think it'd have been better if the beasts were called fruits instead of limbs.
I mean it's just like beasts growing on a tree.
-
Mansam looks pretty evil there. :S
-
We need Gourmetzord power, NOW!!! :ninja:
-
I really hope that once the main body absorbs the limbs, that it transforms into a cooler looking beast. Right now it looks like a giant root or wrinkly carrot or something. Probably one of the least imaginative designs in all of Toriko.
-
_The silhouette certainly doesn't belong to
Joa…It does look similar to Zaus, though:
-
Looking forward to this, hopefully it'll turn out good and give a good showing before we move on to the Gourmet World.
-
Great job, Zebra, look what have you achieved.
-
That guy could be a lotta people really. I'm hoping it's someone we've seen before, though, because Toriko's got like, 20 or so characters who have only had really short appearances. And those guys being expanded apon is usually the most interesting.
Some connection with Joa seems unlikely since he's supposed to be in Gourmet World. Using that book to learn about God or whatever it was… -
The main body kind of resembles Jack Skellington.
By the way, is anyone keeping track with the anime? The recent episode is a tie-in to the Toriko: Gourmet Survival 2 game for the PSP.
-
I translate the anime, so yeah. The current arc is the filler arc made up of beasts sent in by fans which are all puns that are really annoying to trasnslate.
It works as like "generic Toriko arc" though. Which are usually okay. They're basically always modeled after the Galala Crocodile arc. Like there's one big thing they need to find, and there are some sciency natury things that go along with it. And usually they also include some cooking element or something recently introduced in the anime at that point. Also it's used as a time for lesser-seen characters to make an appearance, and they're given some generic reason for why they're there. This one has Rin because Rin barely ever does anything. -
Maybe is it time to see Mansam going berserk?
-
I liked this chapter. Glad I waited to see it in one place. Someone on the last page had a panda man with a mustache jacket lol.
-
Just noticed Teppei´s missing his scar on the chapter 199. It´s not uncommon for mangakas to forget details like this once ina while, but the scar is missing in all the panels that show his face :C
-
So you think that was not Teppei?
I still remember Oda forgot to draw Whitebeard huge scar on the chest on chapter 551 of ONE PIECE, so it's not so uncommon. -
Teppei does chill on the island of healing quite a bit. Maybe he took care of it at Life.
-
@Area51: Nope, i thought either Shima forgot badly, or he got it healed.
Tho he had it on the Dodurian Bomb chapter IIRC
-

Tho he had it on the Dodurian Bomb chapter IIRCI think it's more likely he just forgot, it would be weird to randomly heal a scar that's a distinguishing character feature of screen, i mean it wasn't a debilitating wound or anything

What I wanna know is where the hell is Shigematsu. He's supposed to be the 2nd in charge of the IGO and apparently the successor to Ichiryuu, but he's not shown up once since he and Mansam went after that GT robo.

Of course it could be anyone else too.

Anyone else think that Shigematsu is Komatsu's father and the main reason he hasn't shown up more is because Shima wants to hold off on the reveal for now? Either way, he's long overdue for a return, since he's one of the few minor characters that hasn't shown up since his initial appearance.
-
Thing is Shima's been acting like Mansam's the no 2 ever since. Hell I don't think he ever even had a line.
-
Maybe is it time to see Mansam going berserk?
I hope so, he's underused in battle. Come on, he has gourmet cells way before Toriko and the rest, and he doesn't seem the kind of guy that doesn't train ( he was seen doing pushups with Rikky ).
-
I see Mansom taken out by a sneak attack.
-
He also explicitely states "Mansam is the #3 man" right before he's originally introduced. The #2 man is Shigematsu.

I know that, but so far it didn't seem like it.
-
I think both Mansam and Shigematsu received orders from Ichiryuu to not interfere but in hopeless case. But, hey, I want to see them fight with something really strong. I think both of them are stronger than the Four Heavenly Kings, Shigematsu at least.

Just read kewl's translation on mangahelpers, and looked at spoiler pics.
