It's not really news that persona 5 is in production they already said that they've begun work on it around TGS last year.
Since Atlus is a company that deals with their financial limitations very well (compared to squeenix whose FF division indulges way too much in their freedom)
it would've been shocking to hear if they were still after more than half a year in pre production/planning.
I think the best we can hope for this TGS may be some concept art on P5.
As for Kaneko I'm pretty sure that he won't touch the persona series character designs anymore. Since Atlus seems to have decided since P3 to move on to a less bleak design direction with a little more mass appeal for their characters. And I think it's fine that Persona and SMT can be their own thing.
At the end of the day it really depends on the tone they are shooting for, I'd have a hard time imagining Kaneko's character design fitting with P4's tone.
Also let's hope that they decide to keep character portraits and improve them instead of having everything be displayed through the ingame models like in catherine.

Interesting currently at rises dungeon seems like the translators tuned some sentences down (really not a whole lot) to suit american content rating sensibilities, can't blame them for that but things like this just make me all the more motivated to get to a level where I can enjoy stuff in its original language.
