Yeah, chapter made as much sense for me as all the other late ones. But it looks like a quite nice setup here…
Soooooo... how could the samurai use his powers back when he made the clothes for everyone if his upper body was underwater?

True but what about "I need to be strong for the New World and protect everyone and stuff".
Simple, he can't do that if he can't breathe. He will simply have to recover and fight back…just like he always does.
If he goes down that easy on the first island of the NW then what's gonna happen next?
If its a sleeping gas then its not going down that easy, even stronger people will go down then. As for what happens next, same as he did when he first entered the Grand Line=recover, fight, win, learn from it and become stronger. Remember that he wasn't as storng as some opponents when he first arrived in Grand Line but some even weaker than him took him out of the fight on the first island with the 100 bounty hunters. Zoro took the Bounty Hunters out, making a win for Strawhats, they learned for the experience and moved on.
Same here, its a new experience, a villian who uses gas instead of physical combat. We thought that Luffy could even the odds agaisnt him with Hakai, but this chapter shows it was out of Luffy's favor since CC also has haki and seems to have a backup plan (like maybe sleepign gas as some guess). Somehow the Strawhats will win and will learn from it. But it no way takes away from Luffy's desire to protect everyone… he's always wished that.
You know I said "in this chapter" right. Also, the ambiguous use of CoC was the shark fainting.

The shark fainted because of the slime's poison.

I thought it's because the shark got poisoned by slime
EDIT
damn akagami beat me to it.
a few seconds late

His upper body wasn't underwater back then.
Here is a wild one!
http://www.booktopia.com.au/yo-ho-ho-a-pirating-we-ll-go/prod9780140569377.html
A poem named "Yo ho ho! A Pirating we'll go"
yo ho ho = Brook
Pirating = duh
We'll go = Welgo
Absolutely no work in office for me today…
My disbelief is now suspended.
If Luffy can't beat this guy, then how the hell would they stand a chance against anybody else?! CC Should've been just another fodder! But no. We have crappy DRAMA because we know that Luffy will get out of this. But how?
I kind of agree, but we know so little about what happened…
The REAL question is, why doesn't CC just kill everybody? He's tying them up... Why?

Caesar was in the bag up until Velcro got involved
so(as I said before), two years of study/training or improvement for Robin and Franky = taken out by a logia user without a fight?
never expect them to pose any serious challenge agianst logia user or carrys out counterattack to inflict any notable wounds upon logia user
but not like that–--as they were powerless when they confronted Kizaru two years agoand this is the first offical campaign for straw pirates since they entered New World –--a Logia user(not even be confirmed to posses any sort of haki) dispatch them so easily?
if this is the truth , I would say that is poor story plot
If Luffy just strolled through the New World beating every opponent with ease the plot would be even worse.

when he first arrived in Grand Line but some even weaker than him took him out of the fight on the first island with the 100 bounty hunters – filled his stomach with 20 rations of food means being taken out?
I thought the word "combat" in op is defined as a contest/duel/fight with martial arts/physical strength/firing power/devil fruit's capability?
I kind of agree, but we know so little about what happened…
The REAL question is, why doesn't CC just kill everybody? He's tying them up... Why?
He wants to do experiments with them, and is interested on franky's laser

The shark fainted because of the slime's poison.
That's why I said it was ambiguous. It could be argued that Sanji looked at the shark, the shark stopped and then got poisoned in the next panel.

What didn't make sense? Or are you referring to ambiguous stuff like "S.A.D." and "Dress Rosa" as the confusing parts? Oda's panels have gotten more packed if that's what you mean. For example, CC (if it was him which I think it was) taking out all of the other players besides Luffy happened with no build-up at all, it was a really sudden page that slams you right there with the outcome. So the sequence of events can indeed be confusing.
But if you need any help understanding some things we can help you out. One Piece ain't the easiest manga to read out there, that's for sure. This is not meant to be condescending at all by the way, sometimes my posts accidentally come off that way.
If Luffy just strolled through the New World beating every opponent with ease the plot would be even worse.
Please, when I wrote down the word" them" ,I refered it as Franky and Robin
If Luffy just strolled through the New World beating every opponent with ease the plot would be even worse.
If so then why the hell did law try to attack Velgo even though they're (most likely) on the same side?
Why do I feel as if Oda is trolling me? :( First this insane cliffhanger for two weeks, and now the fix to that is about as bad, if not worse, than what we had already. I want answers, not more questions! ;_;
Epic chapter though. I just wish we saw how C.C. eventually got the best of the strawhats.
If so then why the hell did law try to attack Velgo even though they're (most likely) on the same side?
Just because they have a history together doesn't mean they're on the same side…
It's pretty obvious that there is hostility between them.
Holy crap! Great Chapter..!!
Velgo/Welgo is pretty bad ass, looks like Strawberry if you ask me..It's weird that they have tankers that are on route to an island that's strictly WG and illegal to enter at that..Him vulcanizing his armament haki is very odd as it's very similar to Luffy's, which raises some questions..Unless it's a DF ability
Hopefully we get Chopper exploring the lab next chapter, and an update from Usopp and Nami
Caesar is massive, I pointed that out in a previous chapter but man is he large..
Kinemon…What can I say, he's just too amazing. It's as simple as that.
You know I said "in this chapter" right. Also, the ambiguous use of CoC was the shark fainting.
That's why I said it was ambiguous. It could be argued that Sanji looked at the shark, the shark stopped and then got poisoned in the next panel.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that, it was a bit odd. Could just be COC..
And on top of that..Showing Sanji has it, before Zoro..!!
Using it in Nami's Body…
Here comes the Zorofan-rage..!!
...Too bad there's a skull an crossbones above it indicating it's been poisoned..
Don't know if anyone has said this yet but is it possible that Welgo isn't using CoA but instead he has some sort of "grill" power (as evidenced by the meat on his face and crosshatch pattern on his clothes) and instead his bamboo and clothes are charring from being burnt?
 I really thought mysterious man is Vegapunk( Instead he looks like Strawberry twin brother. I got the feeling that Law and this guy were in some sort of organization when they were kids. Sort of CP9 children training. And then Law escaped from there, and became a pirate.

Seems likely, given the vulcanization bit of CoA is more a Luffy exclusive. Oda's such a troll with these things sometimes.
I'm surprised you didn't have some sort of gif prepared of someone getting hit in the face with a steak.
Law has no Haki, it seems.
I'm surprised you didn't have some sort of gif prepared of someone getting hit in the face with a steak.
Ok then
I think it's extremely likely that what Velgo did was use Armament Haki. Like, extremely. He just used a wooden flute to hit a Shichibukai in the head so hard he fainted. It would just mean that Luffy isn't the only person in the world who uses it that way, and that Oda drawing his limbs turning black is to show us when it's being used… both of which make perfect sense.
Law has no Haki, it seems.
What? It's already confirmed that he does. What in this chapter ever indicated otherwise?
One word: Doflamingo.

I think you're a bit too confident on that, given that other haki imdued objects (such as the Amazoness arrows) don't turn black. The black (as I've come to interpret it) is a special property of Luffy, wherein the rubber in his body is temporarily vulcanized, something that's unique to rubber. I'm sure that if this isn't explained, it'll show up in an SBS somewhere down the road.
Okay, what the hell is this?
http://mangateers.com/manga/one-piece/672/3/
Big fucking deference in translation between mangapanda/reader and Mangateers, the conversation between Law and steak face is a mess.
Right.
My.
I don't even.
Right.
[/ahem]
[/flips the fuck out]
[hide]- people are STILL connecting Welgo/Velgo to what happened to Luffy and the others and not purely the fact that CC is a logia and could have done something with his ability? REALLY? Why the hell would Velgo be helping CC if he made it clear that CC wasn't trusted? REALLY?!
secret agent Monet… I approve.
Everyone seems to think Velgo has grilling abilities... I think he's a sticky man. Like. Velcro. Y'know. That's why it's STUCK to his face. Grilled steak does not simply gain sticky properties from being grilled yknow.
Well shit seems velcro guy (I'm sticking to my guns, he might not be a velcro guy... a part of me wants him to have a venus flytrap devil fruit tbh) knows haki...
...
...KFWUKJGAQKFWGFLKLKWQGRGWK [/rough translation: NONONONONNOWLWAWLALWLLAKWLKAJWELAROVALWF ; yeah…]
Pft. Bitches got knocked out. CC's work, not Velgo, seriously. SE-RI-OUS-LA-HAAAAAY.
[/sorryforbeinggrouchybutI'msleepyandit'stoofrakkenhot]
I just… I don't understand why people are connecting it merely because Luffy and Law both coincidentally fell at roughly the same time as each other…
People seem to be underestimating CC... he's a GAS MAN. Not just ONE type of gas... ALL OF THE GAS'
Can I just- [/kidnaps Kinemon]
I don't know why. But. I like him better now he's all back together. fkawkwajfklw. such a badass.
:ninja:
He's only drawing at second with Apoo… Law is still one.

Waiting on Mangarule, CCC SAVE US.
I thought the group that Mysterious Man and Monet work for was called "The Adults"?

Ouch, that is pretty bad. But, that translation seems a bit sloppier, and less congruent with Aohige's trans.
other haki imdued objects (such as the Amazoness arrows) don't turn black.
The thing is that they don't necessarily actually turn black. It's something Oda uses to show us when Haki is used in that way (hardening). Consider that if he hadn't drawn it on Velgo, we would have had no possible way of knowing that he used it barring an extremely forced statement like "You can't stand up to my Haki" or "His Haki is so strong". It's a post skip thing, as well, since Haki was being kept mysterious before the timeskip.

I'd like to think that Oda can come up with something better than that, I was blown flat on my ass the first time I saw Luffy vulcanize his fists, I hadn't even though of the possibility and was really impressed with Oda's creativity. It would be a shame if it was an accident and he isn't actually vulcanizing them.

the mangareader one is better for me.
Let's wait for CCC's translation
I wont read all the pages but anyone else mentioned Welgo's Armament haki?

Luffy straight-up calls it "vulcanization", so I don't think it's an accident.
Either this was a mistake by Oda, or there's a reason why Vergo/Velgo can do the same thing.
@The:
I thought the group that Mysterious Man and Monet work for was called "The Adults"?
or just simply they should be addressed as "elders"(translated as "grow up" or "adult"–does make me feel strange)

Monet looks like…almost the same age as Law. How is she an Elder?
Zoro will get his fire sword during the wano arc plus i think that the fire sword is made from a real dragon's tooth which is why it's a fire type!
I was correct because i said that the person was either Joker or someone that worked for him also i hope the people that said it was vegapunk were trolling i told you it could not be him because vegapunk and cc hate each other!
I'm reading this thread.
And it's too damn hot.
And I just.
I wheep.
I WHEEP I TELL YOU.

I like the grill man theory. It would be an interesting fruit power.
@Law:

To be fair, Vergo/Velgo doesn't seem to be too enamored with Caesar, either.
I like the grill man theory. It would be an interesting fruit power.
It's a manly Devil Fruit. Every REAL man needs to know how to grill.

To each his own then as I always felt it was dubious if it was "vulcanization" to begin with and even if it actually happened. I'm most concerned about it being so unclear when Haki is and isn't used. A way of telling without it having to be awkwardly stated every time would be most welcome, and it seems the blackening is it.
And isn't "Hardening" usually thought to be the proper translation for what Luffy's technique? I know it could mean both, but I seem to recall people settling on that back during the debates and it's what I've seen used since.
I still think he's a velcro man.
It's in the name.
And that's how the steak is STUCK to him.
I'd love it if Oda proved us all wrong and he's just like…
Pineapple man... or something.
@The:

when Welgo says–-even if you hide things….the adults will find out–--I do not think that including Monet
