After last week's Mara Wilson scandal, Doug gives us another one of her "classic films." Here's A Simple Wish.

Oh, and we get a nice little surprise at the end.

Well…...this should be interesting. Goes off to watch
rofl Dough looked like a real life Dwight Schrute.
Adult Mara Wilson looks and sounds great. A shame she quit acting, she seems like she has some real talent.
Yep! That whole bit was great!
That ending was awesome. I'm glad to see something good like that came out of the events from last week.
Cue 87 comments of "It's the Doctor, not 'Doctor Who'"
Actually, with this cameo now, maybe he can finally get around to doing Matilda since it seems a big reason for not doing it is because of how well liked it is.
Mara Wilson is awesome. XD
This was one of the best endings to one of Doug's review in awhile. I was surprised to see Mara Wilson and Doug's home movies too. I mind is still processing this sheer awesomeness.
I wonder if Mara would ever do anything more with TGWTG? If Doug did do a Matilda review, a co-review with her would be pretty awesome.
MarzGurl demonstrates she has a decent sense of humor.

More of this please.
JesuOtaku begins her Month of Miyazaki with perhaps the most overlooked Miyazaki film, The Castle of Cagliostro.

Hopefully this'll go better than her "month-long" Digimon retrospective.
Interesting analysis of viewer sympathy
Did anyone else completely miss Bennet's anime abandon episode co-hosted by Spoony where they take a look at another completely horrible cheap as korean…..anime ? Is there a specific term for this type of korean animation, like you have with manga/manhwa ?
Regardless

Huh. it's already been written on wikipedia…
I'm almost 90% sure, that the whole Mara Wilson thing was staged, everything from "fans" getting her angry, to thel little mis-communication insults between Doug and Mara, just so they could do something like the end of this video.

No, the fans legitimately made her angry. But it's all better now as she posted on her blog. http://marawilsonwritesstuff.com/regarding-the-nostalgia-critic/

Nope, the fan BS is real. Because fans are stupid.
The end result is him making a public apology in the most self demeaning way possible to hopefully avoid any more such in the future.
@RobbyBevard:

No kidding! That was … pretty painful to watch.
It was painful. But its basically Doug going "Its just comedy, and I can take what I give. Its not personal."
While the whole fan thing was completely stupid, it did admittedly end in an interesting way now that it seems like NC and Mara Wilson are now in contact with each other if there's ever something they want to do. …...Completely different scenario, but what was that Tommy Wiseau thing all about a while back with "The Room"? Wasn't it something like some producer or someone else wanting him to take the video down?

He did his review of the Room. And apparently Wiseau (or his manager) can't take any form of criticism and demanded it pulled. Even though it was a review and fair use.
Which of course led to EVERYONE on the site mocking it in the following weeks… without using footage. And mocking him live atconventions. And other parodies.

Ah. Got it. Forgot if it had been for some stupid legal reason or something personal.
He should do Matilda with Mara Wilson. That would be the most fitting way to do a movie with such hype surrounding it. Mara Wilson can be the positive side to the movie.
Nah. Getting someone to spend 10 minutes doing something for fun, and as a big apology, is one thing.
Pulling them out of their schedule for hours to work on a scripted comedy bit, especially when its not something they normally do, is another.
Doug isn't the only one to catch ire from people in the movie industry. Obscurus Lupa did a couple videos about Scott Shaw, a writer/director/actor/etc known for his self-titled style of "Zen Filmmaking". She made a video explaining who he is and what he does since she planned to do more of his movies in the future, and followed up with a look at "Max Hell Frog Warrior". Shaw contacted Lupa and told her he liked the videos, but then backstabbed her by ordering Blip to take down the videos.
She's since reuploaded them to Springboard but that was a major dick move from Shaw.
Also Brad got lots of backlash from the creators of the low budget slashers he's reviewed while still mostly on youtube, namely the people behind Nail Gun Massacre, amongst others.
Eh, the comparison at the end was pretty week. There's a difference between criticizing someone's home movies and someone with a solid (if brief) film career and millions of dollars in advertising that millions at least have a passing familiarity with (and are still seeing it in syndiication). Sorry, if the kid's more annoying than entertaining and lacks any perceivable talent on film, it is going to be criticized. Though to be fair, it is more often the fault of lazy direction and dialogue coaching than the kid's ability to perform, in which only a veteran child actor could pull through unscathed.

Oh god. JewWario and Nella playing My Little Pony D&D.
Amazingness.
Everything about this review was amazing. Especially the ending.
Yeah that felt about right.
I just want to ask why the fuck he spent all that money to haul the house over to Pakistan of all places.

Of all the insane asinine shit he did in that movie, that's what you're curious about?
Of all the insane asinine shit he did in that movie, that's what you're curious about?
Yes. I mean, he's blowing his own money on this when there are many more cost-affordable ways of come-uppance availible.
Way to shoot a guy down before you even know what he's going to say. He mainly talks about the logical and motivational problems with the characters and how they were portrayed. His points include:
-The Man in Black really was kind of a sympathetic character since all he wanted to do was leave the island, but his mother and Jacob wouldn't let him for no clear reason. And let's face it, Jacob is kind of a dick.
-There seems to be no rhyme or reason for what the magic light at the center of the island does. It pretty much just does whatever is convenient for the plot.
-Why did MiB kill the pilot in the first episode anyway? If he wants to get off the island wouldn't it be good to have a pilot on standby? But whatever, I'm sure you're still not interested in watching it.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh, and here's another one, why did MiB sneak that bomb on the submarine in the last season anyway? (the one that killed Sayid, Jin, and Sun). If he just wants to leave the island then he could've just left with them. Yes, fine, he was betrayed by them and it's possible that he could have foreseen the possibility of that, but still, what does he gain by killing them? I guess the reason is that they were Jacob's chosen, but if they leave the island then they can't very well stay to guard the island, can they? So I guess the only real logical reason he would do that would be to spite them on the offchance they betrayed him.
I always found him to be sympathetic to a degree so I don't know why that is bad. And jacob was a dick, I don't the show tried to hide that.
My understanding was that he needed to kill those candidates to leave til he killed the island's power.
Sorry to bring this up again :p. I'm not sure I understand or care for phelous's brand of humor
Doug's review of the Avengers is up.

Heh, I remember reading Spoony's written review for Alien 4. Freakin' hilarious.
And did anyone else DOOOH uncontrollably when Lindsay was hugging Todd and she did this tiny squee? X3 So cute!!!
In anticipation of the upcoming Prometheus movie, Doug reviews Alien: Ressurection.
Oy, did he take a shot at Kingdom of Heaven at the end there? I'm just gonna assume he was talking about the theatrical version.
There's One Piece in Angry Joe's Risen 2 review, interesting.
More interesting, it's looks like a Kaizoku fansub and not from the dvd. Which suggests he either ripped it off youtube or he has these episodes from the fansubbing days.
As neat as it'd be if he was a longtime fan, I'm putting my money that he just grabbed any piratey background content he saw on youtube just for the review.
