gan forr is explaining the dials and sais that according to legend theres one called reject thats supposed to be 10 times more powerful and that it is exctinct
Chapter 400 "Key of Liberation" Discussion
-
-
They're "extinct" in a manner of speaking; they're no longer made by the Skypieans and exactly how they are made is forgotten. I think Paguya mentioned the "Jet" dials also being extinct, but Eneru mentioned Blica specialized in making "Jet" dials; when he destroyed Blica, he pretty much made them extinct, though Gedatsu, Nami, and Eneru (look at Maxim) certainly had a ton of Jet Dials left over.
-
Well some unexpected match ups here and there… but glad that the action will finally begin. The Zoro/Kaku "conversation" was certainly awesome.
-
Usopp does not need to use a reject or impact dial to beat Jyabura. If he utilizes the dials that create different smells (as many other people have stated) and the ones that record your voice, he can potenitally confuse Jyabura to the point where he could be knocked out from behind with a well-placec (and potentially new and improved) Usopp Hammer. Luffy's punch that landed on Lucci is evidence that 'Tekkai' only works when the user is prepared for the attack. Usopp has a chance to pummel him if he can keep him off-guard.
Also, the more that people mention it, I like the thought of Califa being wooed by Sanji and joining the crew. The other option is that they have a Pepe LePew-style chase scene though the CP9 tower, which I would enjoy to no end. However, I recognize the probability of this event happening is close to nill. Given the 'Oda factor' though, that 0.1% ain't bad odds.

Who sassed the mods? I'm way to lazy to look through this whole thread, but who got banned?
Phenomenol is their name.

Omae I'm almost positive that reject dials are in fact "extinct." That doesn't mean they still don't exist, I'm pretty sure it just meant that they were no longer being 'born' or however dials come into existence. In other words, no new ones. Waiper had a reject dial, so obviously some still exist.
I really don't care whether or not Usopp has one, so I won't enter that area of debate.
Phenomenol. Apparently, he's gotten bored with the website, so he masqueraded as his "brother" and held an adamantly dumb position on Luffy and Zoro's defeats. Though this point can be valid, he was also (repeatedly) offensive the the moderators, so he's banned…though how moderators can ban people is beyond me. I'm glad I didn't push that one incident a while ago when Carly wasn't having a good day... ._.;
-
anyonething Zoro will get funkfreed at the end?
-
Holy shit, OwnerZeff is back.
-
anyonething Zoro will get funkfreed at the end?
Not really. I just don't see that happening (but that's just me).
Oh, and the summary at the main site is up. ^^

But what if it is his brother? Anyway, saying "I'm glad I did not do that"; just to warn you, can be a mistake. Having to say proud word may betray you to do the same as the other person went through. PM if you don't understand, I'll explian more their.
Anyway, I read this chapter at the MSN scan site, and it was really heating up. I wonder if we'll see flashbacks in the Usopp Vs. Jabura(or Jyanbura) battle like what we saw in the Luffy Vs. Usopp battle?
If Jabura thrash Sogeking and starting insulting him and calling him weak and worthless, we might see Sogeking recalling his fight with Luffy and scream "I want to be the bravest warrior of the sea! I won't run! I'll face you like a man and beat you! I won't depand on people anymore! I WON'T RUN!!"
-
About Zoro appearing cooler than Sanji…well yeah, but hey I'd rather have Calipha's tea over Kaku's blood anyday ;)
Oh and from the looks of it, Calipha did use a lot of geppou and Soru at W7, Sanji gonna have to come up with something new to keep up with her.
Maybe a flashback with Zef telling him something about the possibilities of kicking or whatever.
still dissapointed with not seeing a pure martial artist vs martial artist fight. Jyabura has sake for crying out loud T_T -
That's too bad, I kinda liked that Phenomenol kid, even if he did spell the word incorrectly. Maybe he was pissed off at a certain member for making fun of his English, and the fact that the mods did nothing about it. Wonder why he got tired of the site and decided to troll.
I think Zoro will get funkfreed, from that manga scene where Spandam 'drew' him it looked like a really good sword.
-
oooooh ya! 400th!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Nah, Funkfreed is like a rapier. Zoro likes katanas, and I don't see him liking the idea of using a magical sword.
On the note of objects having personality… if you recall, Zoro said his cursed blade would act against his will sometimes. I kind of wondered where the intellect and personality of the animals come from when an object eats a zoan fruit... this is off the wall, but it might be that treasured objects have their personalities, and the zoan form gives them a way to express it. Yeah, it's silly, but i thought of it.
-
I don't think a rapier would be bad for his three sword style.
-

Interesting view. Now that I think about it, Funkfreed is often seen in various shots "kissing, sucking, e.t.c" Spandam. I'm guessing that as his sword, it's well-attacted to its master. Either in a "Oh master, use me!" or "Master, I want blood!" way.

Actually I'd really like to see him take Funkfried, but A: I can't see the SH's with a pet elephant and B: He'd have to lose one of his current swords.

This is entirely possible. In fact it's happened once already–the Klaubautterman, on Going Merry. That was a manifestation of the ship's personality, without even a DF. The 'treasured item" bit fits quite well with what we know.
It could also explain why Spandam's sword has a DF and Calipha's plate doesn't. If it was a zoan, then maybe an inanimate object can only gain that power if it is a very loved object, and also has a soul.
I seem to remember reading that Lasso was Mr. 4's "favorite" gun, even.
-
Seing Funkfried turning into sword and knowing he is a sword that ate a elephant akuma no mi
I wonder if Califa will gain any akuma no mi power, since she chopped the akuma no mi with a knife before eating (maybe the knife got the power and Califa only got the bad taste)
-
I am glad things are finally kicking off between both sides. The next few chapters will certainly be great. Not that I didn't mind the flashbacks with Robin, just that this is what I have been waiting for since a few months ago.
-

If you want Carly to have many more good days please buy her lots of vanilla sweets  Us super-mods don't have technical control. So we can ban someone if it's needed but we can't just go around screwing with their settings (unlike a regular mod who can only moderate the board itself). Phenomenol will prolly be back w/n the next couple days, being that before today he wasn't exactly such a frisky little guy, so he's got some credibility in that area.
I really, really like the idea of an inanimate object needing some kind of affection or feeling attached to it in order for it to be able to 'eat' a Devil Fruit. Granted it would still be immensely stupid to have a ship eat one, but the possibility is there and I like it. Mystery solved ? God I want an elephant-sword. Funkfleed was the cutest elephant ever anyway, now he's adorably lethal.

I really like that idea… Whoa o.o!
-
Guys, I tihnk it's a more complicated process than "object touches some of the juice so it gets power."
-
@Cap'n:
Guys, I tihnk it's a more complicated process than "object touches some of the juice so it gets power."
This DOES make me think of this:
"Once you take a bite of it, it becomes a terrible tasting fruit."
Does that apply when you CUT it?
What I mean is, once the fruit is no longer whole, can you still get a power from it?
-
It would be weird to make all that little scene of them eating a Devil Fruit, and then Calipha seeming all confident afterwards, just to reveal that she has no power.
I doubt she ate any kind of fruit that would make her ugly or manly. I think it will be a powerful ability just to show everyone that Sanji is not getting a weak opponent.
And I think Sanji will win over her using some loophole in his personal code.
-
hmm… a sword that turns into an elephant.
rather dangerous, don't you think?
that's the deleted scene from ch400. spandam said it's too embarassing. <_<
-
Haha thats awesome e1n XD
Also i was just thinking - Zoro's sword (the one with a personality Sandai Kitetsu was it? ) is cursed, the Devil fruits are "cursed" and seem to have a personality too (once consumed by an inanimate object and in some cases even by living being as is Chopper's and Lucci's case).
Is it just the cursed objects that behave like this?@ Battle Franky - Haha im glad were on the same page then
-
Hmmm… I wonder if the sword IS in the sword-beast form? Earlier we saw Spandam holding a normal sword, and this one has properties of the elephant and the sword... but... damn it, objects eating fruits is so complicated!!
At any rate, i can see the blade extending and waving like a trunk... kind of like a whip sword... awesome!
-
e1n, I was thinking if Spandam's sword was cursed he'd meet his end like that. Nice drawing.
-
Ok, I have a question.
How can a sword ´eat´ something ?
-
Answer: nobody knows. Try reading through thousands of speculative posts in the archives.
My reactions to this chapter and Usopp:
Usopp does have the impact dial though. And if Jyabura hit the impact dial with a rankyaku or a shingan and Usopp managed to fire it back . . . . that's a lot of hurt.
With the exception of Luffy vs. Lucci and Zoro vs. Kaku (which was predicted many times), these match-ups are utterly astounding. This is gonna be Nami's best fight since Miss Doublefinger, I'm really looking forward to it.
As for Sanji, it's true that Califa is the weakest of the CP9 members, but two things. 1. She now has a devil fruit. 2. She's a woman. For Sanji this is gonna be his toughest opponent yet, and I am SO looking forward to seeing how he deals with it. This is Sanji's "fighting my own weakness" battle. Yippie!
So unless Califa ate something like the gorilla fruit and becomes butt-ugly, it's gonna be a battle of ethics for Sanji. Although I was always under the impression that he didn't hurt women at all, ugly or not. Bon Clay doesn't count.
Afterthought: Where did Chopper go?
-
Frist a gun eating a devil friut, now a FREAKING SWORD. Now I seen everything.
-
Okayy. I have no idea how that reads in Japanese, but I know for a fact that's the Kanji for "wolf". Wonder what it's doing in Jyabura's room. -
i was hoping chopper would fight wolf dude. he prob will team up w/sogeking just like they did in alabasta.
-

-
Oh.. haha, nevermind.
I'm a little disappointed though. I mean, after all that unpredictable matchup stuff, Oda goes and pulls a very predictable Zoan ability for Jabs.
-
I don't see the point in misleading us about Jabs zoan, Phlemingo. He's been portrayed as a very predictable character from the get-go, it would be downright odd to make his zoan completely unexpected.
With Kaku, for instance, it wouldn't be, since he's been portrayed as quite the mystery character.
-
if you notice the enies lobby map that oda had back when sogeking was still separated from the rest of the crew, you'll notice that on lucci's profile oda put his neko neko no mi type as JACKAL instead of LEOPARD.
scroll down to lucci's picture and notice below his douriki it says: neko neko no mi: moderu jakkaru, not moderu reoparudo.
ocean told me about this and was wondering if oda had made a mistake and instead put jyabura's akuma no mi model.
-
Wait, wasn't the one guy in Alabasta a Jackal though?
Well, if he has the same fruit, the theory that we'd never see two people with the same exact fruit is blown out of the water.
-
but i thought the jackal DF was already taken. that bodyguard in alabasta, pell's partner. forgot his name. =P
i say it's a misprint.
-
Hehe….maybe Oda was thinking "Jaguar".
-
Chaka the Jackal.
I also say misprint.
-
Chaka?
I don't see the point in misleading us about Jabs zoan, Phlemingo. He's been portrayed as a very predictable character from the get-go, it would be downright odd to make his zoan completely unexpected.
I guess so, but it could have been some other canine, like a doberman or a bloodhound, which would still work.
-
Well, I agree with that. I sort of thought he'd be a rottweiler model to be honest.
-
-
I really doubt that he'd be a jackal after all the clues that we've seen. I think it's just a silly mistake, where Oda (or an assistant) got their exotic animals mixed up.
I'm ecstatic about Jabura being a wolf. My favorite CP9 is one of my favorite animals… oh yeah.
-
Yes, he already has the jackal.
I find it kind of weird that Lucci's freaking zoan is practically a half-giant, whereas other zoans in the past weren't. Unless their size is determinant on the strength of the user.
-
Well, all things considered Chopper's pretty huge in his human form.
I think it's possibly because Lucci has done a shitload of training, leopards are larger and stronger than jackals, and a mix of the two.
-
Lucci mentioned that Zoan DF powers can be developed - he worked and trained to get himself that big and strong and powerful.
-
I believe the strength is determinant on that of the user, personally. In human form, the muscles are all super packed, but in animal form, they are let loose.
-
Yeah, Crocodile talked about fully mastering a devil fruit's potential. I think Lucci achieved the equivalent for Zoans.
Ever notice how most of Luffy's major fights take place in phases?
