At least they're acknowledging how stupid "Booyakasha!" sounds right off the bat.
I really like how they move, especially the expressiveness of their mouths. Gonna take a while to get used to the new voices (too used to Raph sounding tougher)

Eh….unless I start hearing certain people saying it's worth watching, I'm going to skip out on this one. Can't say anything about it looks/sounds good to me.
Why are their calfs so big?
Why is everyone crossing their arms?
Must they abuse my turtle love?

I've seen both the anime and Next Mutation. Turtles are fine in any iteration, no matter how weird.

First impressions…I with you.
It'd probably look good for a video game though.

Amen, Robby. I mean, really, Archie!TMNT had a giant alien cow-head acting as space transportation. A series with teenage mutant ninja turtles and 'Weird' pretty much go hand in hand.
As for the preview? I'm quite pleasantly surprised.
~ It's definitely stylized, but the animation is crisp and flows well, and it's got a neat blend of bright colors vs dark shadows.
~ It's going to take some time to not hear 80's!Raph in 2012!Don's voice, but I can deal with that; that other voices work just fine for me ATM.
~ I'm hoping the comic!moments (ala the "SHHHHH!" moment) aren't overused to the point of being annoying.
~ "Booyakasha!" The next 'Cowabunga'? Or a riff on it, to eventually be dropped?
~ "Saving the universe"? Hello, off-world shenanigans!
My brain is kind of putting TMNT'12 next to Powerpuff Girls in terms of stylization/feel right now. I don't know if that fits, but hopefully it'll have the same appeal to audiences in the end.
waits for the premiere with a bit more eagerness
If anything I'm disappointed they're going straight to the Shredder well again.
I know, he's as iconic as the turtles themselves, and new show for a new generation (The previous show will be ten years old by the time this one hits!) but, the turtles have soooo much more variety its a shame that he's always the default… and will no doubt carry most of the villain weight for the first year.
In the Mirage comics he was killed in the first issue! And in the Archie he sort of became an honorable character who was only brought out maybe once every 20 issues after the first few and so was always an event.
Oh well, karai is already confirmed, so maybe they'll move through him quickly. If nothing else the 2K3 show was about as accurate to the Mirage book as one could ever hope for.
I'm upset we didin't hear the turtles talk more. That's main thing this show has going for it is its amazing voice cast. And I wanted to hear more than just quick whips and one solid interaction with Ralph and Mickey. I really want to hear more of Rob Paulson's Donny.

I was just making a joke about the promo images and everyone crossing their arms.
Elephant calfs are still odd though, the trailer has peaked my interest, I'll give it a shot.
and the anime was stupid awesome.
I like the trailer. Shredder's character designed looked awesome.
Oh! Before I forget; any other Canadian TMNT fans in the house?
Select Cineplex/Silvercity theaters are going to be showing the ORIGINAL Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie as a part of their Family Favorites movie showings!
It's going to be playing July 21st at 11am, one time only. It's kinda early, yes, but it's only $2.50 to get in!
Frankly, I wish I knew about this sooner; I missed seeing Iron Giant, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, and Hook before seeing the TMNT promo with Brave. weeps
To see the original TMNT movie on the big screen would be awesome. I forgot that was one of the really first comic book movies back in the day.
It's that time of year again; COMIC CON, which means NEW SHOW/SEASON PREVIEWS!
And of course, Nickelodeon's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon is no different (mark your calenders, September 29th is the premiere)! You can catch the actual Nick!TMNT panel video here, but we've also got a few better clips of the show on Youtube, including the new opening!
So in the panel video, we see clips/drawings of:
! - The Turtles
First, the opening, with lyrics.
!
! Here we Go! It's the lean green ninja team
On the scene, cool teens doing any thing
So extreme, up the sewers like a laser beam
get rocked with the shell shock pizza kings
Can't stop these radical dudes
The secret of the ooze, make a chosen few
emerge from the shadows to make their move
The good guys win and the bad guys loose
! Leonardo is the leader in blue, does anything it takes to get his ninjas through
Donatello is the fellow, has the way with machines
Raphael has the most attitude on the team
Michealangelo he is one of a kind, and you know where to find him when it's party time
Master Splinter taught them every single skill that they need
to be one mean, lean, green incredible team
! So…is this the new Ninja Rap now? XD
! But seriously, I actually really like this opening. It pays homage to the original cartoon AND the Mirage comic style all in the same breath. The Kraangs look awesome, and we got to see who may-or-may-not be Tokka and Rahzar in the Shredder cameo. Also, I REALLY want to think that 80's April in on that 'It Came From The Sewers'(?) comic book new!April is reading.
Now for clips!
!
! …Okay, I'm totally convinced now. The random anime faces/effects are going to take some getting used to, but I really think the personalities are going to make up for it. Also, I love how Splinter moves in this one. He's still wise and all that, but he moves like I'd assume a sensei would, with grace and purpose in his steps.
! Still weird hearing 80's!Raph in New!Donny's body though. But again, I'll adapt.
And one more!
!
! God, I hear so much of Teen Titan's Beast Boy in this clip. But again, the Kraang look amazing, and it was both scary and hilarious at the same time, so I'll get used to it.
Yeah REALLY liking what I'm seeing here. It's funny what you brought up about Splinter. He's always been this hunched over old dude, here he's got this noble stance and a presence. I liked his chuckle also, reminds me of the Live Action version a bit.
tnjsklnhfjklaflsljfs Rob Paulson is the perfect Donny. Oh god. He can do no wrong. The weapon animation and overall product is good. There's a lot of campy 2D effects added that doesn't really work. Which is the theme of this new series. Everything has a good overall appeal; but there's a few things off putting; the designs are great, faces don't work etc etc.
The theme song is okay… I kind of prefer the rap parts over the chorus. The theme song is so... dramatic it feels more like a trailer than an intro.
funny epic. teen titans and tmnt not bad
I'm vaugley reminded of the opening theme from the last season of the original show, where they tried to go a bit darker, but were still keeping the basic theme… only not.
CANADA'S GETTING THE NEW NICK-TMNT CARTOON!
I just saw the opening playing on YTV, with the 'Coming Soon' announcement after it. I hadn't even heard anything about YTV getting the show, so I did a quick Google search. I__t's actually premiering on the same day as it is in the United States (Saturday Sept. 29th, 11am)
So lemme get this straight; not only am I getting to watch TMNT on my TV instead of my computer, I don't have to worry about an episode delay like with…well, all of the other US cartoons I watch?
EEEEEEEEEE!
In November, there is going to be complete 1987 TMNT Series boxset that will contain all 10 Seasons of the 1987 TMNT series that will comes in a Turtle Van box.
Definitely sounds awesome, though I'll probably wait till X-Mas for it.
We've got another couple of clips from the new Nick!TMNT cartoon; one is what looks like the official 'Meet the Kraangs' clip making it to the show, and the second is the guys introduction to…well, see for yourself:
!
!
…Can we just fast-forward through the next 20 days and get to the premiere?
In November, there is going to be complete 1987 TMNT Series boxset that will contain all 10 Seasons of the 1987 TMNT series that will comes in a Turtle Van box.
checks Amazon Huh, $90 for 23 dvds? That's not too bad. I'm wondering how big that Turtle Van box is though; it looks kinda clunky.
Meanwhile, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation - Volume 1 was released this past week. It has 13 episodes on it, and Volume 2 will finish the series in December. With all these TMNT dvd's coming out I'm getting my hopes up for a release of Season 3 of the 2K3 series. Maybe even Back To The Sewers?
I kinda hoping for rerelease of the entire 2003 series. I only got Season 1, and Season 6 (Fast Foward) on dvd. Because I couldn't find ether the Season 2 dvd sets or the Season 5 dvd sets in stores. I still need to pick up Season 6 - 10 of the 1987 show (Since I already own Volume 1 - 6 (a.k.a Seasons 1 - 3 in invidual volumes ), Season 4, and Season 5).
Just a friendly reminder to everyone that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon premieres on Nickelodeon (and YTV) Saturday morning at 11am EST!
The first two episodes of the new series were pretty great. I can't wait for the next new episode.
Yeah, I really dug what we saw. April's a little "eh" right now, but I'm sure she'll have some time to develop.
And her dad is TOTALLY Joss Whedon.
So I'm pretty much in love with the new toon.
The anime expressions are still a little jarring, but I can get used to them. But the humor! The timing! The voice acting! The personalities of the turtles and Splinter! I'm going to run out of exclamation marks soon!
She didn't get much to do/say this episode, but I have high hopes for April too (she still looks like Penny of Inspector Gadget). And I didn't expect the Kraang to be so…well, funny! But still scary at the same time.
More spoilery stuff under the cut:
! ~ Already shipping Don/April. Stupid Rob Paulsen making smitten!Donny adorable… grumble
! ~ Leo's a fanboy, and wants to be a great leader like his animated hero! I like this addition to his character, gives him a bit more depth than just 'the leader'. Also, if the guys actually get to go into space, I want him to geek out.
! ~ SnakeWeed (official name?) is going to be a recurring villain, obviously. But the question is, how many more mutation 'accidents' will be coming after him?
! ~ Calling it right now; Shredder saved Yoshi's daughter from that fire and raised her, naming her Karai.
Only thing that would make this better for me right now? Getting Casey Jones sooner rather than later. But that's not gonna happen, so.
! I also have the feeling that Splinter's daughther is going end up being Karai as well. I like the series so far is a mixture between both the 87 series and the 2003. The animation for the new show is very nice and slick. Pretty much, I can't wait for the next episode.
! I like the first episode. Yoshi actually was Splinter. They've done before, right? Interesting, nonetheless.
And, whoa, Michelangelo is Beast Boy!
I like it!
but…yeah... so Donny liking april is weird... I hope this series doesn't get weird.
Nick renewed TMNT 2012 for a 2nd season.
Yep, pretty much that.
Considering Korra didn't get renewed for season 2 until this past July, that really is fast.
Here's the story on TMNT being renewed:
Season 2 is set to air next year, meaning there hopfully won't be too many long breaks in season 1 (also 26 episodes).
Saturday's premiere was the week's top childrens tv show on broadcast and cable tv with kids 2-11 and boys 6-11, as well as a ratings high for Nick with boys 2-11. They estimated the premiere reached over 12 million viewers.
The new Playmates TMNT toys are on both Toys R' Us and Time To Play's "Hot Toys for the Holidays" lists.
Considering Korra didn't get renewed for season 2 until this past July, that really is fast.
Here's the story on TMNT being renewed:
Considering only two episodes aired, isn't that unusual?
Wait, Korra was renewed for a second season before the first season even aired… They added additional episodes just after the positive response from the announcement of the new series.
For Korra, they already announced Season 2 before the show even aired. The July announcement for Korra was for Season 3 and Season 4. But still, this was pretty quick announcement for Season 2.
Before this weekend, the toy stores were stocked with TMNT figures. Now: Only non Turtle figures remain!
I like it!
but…yeah... so Donny liking april is weird... I hope this series doesn't get weird.
gargoyles went that route. it was still good.
Gargoyles also handled it pretty maturely too.
who's to say this won't either. gonna have to wait and see.
who's to say this won't either. gonna have to wait and see.
We've already seen within the first two episodes their not.
On aside note apparently the following are confirmed to appear in the show;
! Metalhead, Fugitoid, the Flaming Carrot, Ratking, and in Season 2 we'll get Casey Jones.
some shows start off silly and go serious. look at Trigun. hell look at one piece. the first 2 episodes are not going to dictate the entire series. :)
! flaming carrot huh. that one's new to me
So….yeah. Anyone else here don't like Donatello's voice?
some shows start off silly and go serious. look at Trigun. hell look at one piece. the first 2 episodes are not going to dictate the entire series.
One Piece was a bad example since the manga didn't start that way.
Yu Yu Hakusho still has to be the most "whoa, whoa, how did we get here?" plot. A story about a Highschool delinquent doing good deeds to get his body back turned into fighting Demons.
I'm have faith that they can handle the romance angle well. I'm just saiyan.
Remember how Bleach was about a kid in high school who protected the real world from "invisible" monsters only he and some of his friends could see?
I'm not going count out stuff just cus of the first 2 episodes. Besides, for all we know April could friendzone him so fast his head would spin.
Before this weekend, the toy stores were stocked with TMNT figures. Now: Only non Turtle figures remain!
The Target I go to had turtle figures left but they were bigger ones and I think they only had Donatello and Michelangelo (or Raphael).
I saw the first new episodes of 2012 cartoon and it was awesome :D
The CGI looks good,I enjoy the action and funny scenes,The voice actors are great
My favorite parts are Michelangelo eating a pizza for the first time,Michelangelo with Krang on his face,Splinter picks Leonardo as Leader, and Leonardo making hand signs XD,I also like the new villain Snakeweed
The only thing i have mix feelings about is Donatello falling in love with April
I know that they made April a teenage in this series but still i prefer April to be with Casey Jones,i wouldn’t mind if Donatello fell in love with a different human character or even a animal character
I can't wait for the next episode tomorrow
does anybody else kind of pee themselves at 3:39 when they see that on tv
if that isnt a rape face, i dont know what is
