What do you want? For him to break character completely and kick her ass without hesitation? Where's the suspense in that? I'm waiting to see how that one will turn out because I have no idea how Oda's going to do it; Sanji's never shown any inkling of ever fighting a woman no matter what her intentions toward him were. I'm excited for all these fights, actually, I really wasn't expecting these matchups at all. Yet another reason I love Oda; he consistantly surprises me.
I've been wondering myself when the time would come where Sanji would have to fight a woman. This is his ultimate challenge and I'm looking forward to it. :happy:
The Sogeking (or Sugee King? Hee, I'm so clever) versus Jyabura fight should be pretty awesome too.

It's been quite a long time since I've posted and it is really hard to keep up with these threads because they expand so quickly. Regardless, I just wanted to say "thanks" to the folks that linked the chapter and the usual crew of translators. Four hundred chapters means four hundred translations. Translation work is no small feat and people like stephen are dedicated beyond words to this effort.
Anyway, I'll try and post my thoughts on the battles at some point, but I think Chopper will be matched up with Spandam or Lucci's pigeon (it may know CP9 techniques). Either way, I want to know if Chopper can communicate with the sword/elephant if he does fight Spandam. It would be awesome if Spandam tried to slice at Chopper and he kept getting diverted by Funkfried.

I think that the Sogeking fight will start like this, he will grab the key while he is sleeping , but as soon as he grabs it Jyabura will wake up. He won't transform until Sogeking starts using stuff like impact dial. I also think what Chopper is doing suring this will be said in 401.

Don't underestimate that Pigeon. It's the brain behind CP9 with a Douriki of 20.000. It just controls Lucchi. :biggrin: :wacko:

i still think that copper should have gotten a real fight with one of the cp9, i mean spandam is weaker than the average marine soldier.

Chopper will probably end up fighting Spandam… hmm, I guess he has to fight someone. Chopper fans will hate me for this, but I'm still hoping some day Chopper will develop some healing and supportive techniques, or apply his knowledge of medicine in combat, but, oh well...
Nami-chan! Love her pose. She's finally become enough of a fighter to have an enemy who uses her same weapon (minus weather magic), just like Zoro and Sanji!

Hey…how is "Funk Fried" spelled? I can read a tiny bit of Japanese and read "Fuanku Furiido". Is this a correct translation or is my reading off?
It's "Fanku", not "Fuanku", 'cause the katakana for "a" is smaller than the others kanas in this text. So, when an "i" or an "a" is smaller and is just after a "Fu", then it is pronounced "fa" for "fu+a" and "fi" for "fu+i"^^
Back to this topic, I really love all those "Sentai Stances" that Franky shows when he is serious(like versus Nero^^). This guy has something that makes him a Straw hat pirate: he plays the rude and rough boy but in his heart he is full of sentimentalism. And his emotions are shown by music and tears^^

I think the fights will take place simultaneously in the story just like they did in Alabasta but wed see them in the same order the matchups were shown.
Franky first, Soge next, then Nami and Sanji and Zoro.
Sanji and Zoro being just before Luffy is somewhat obvious, unless of course Oda invents new twists where opponents are switched or Chopper comes into play somewhere.Its gonna be fun =D

for my first post here, I would like to thnx everyone for all the chapters you bring and specially poeple who traslate all this japanese for us …
You remember all the battles in Arabasta, like Ussop was supposed to fight Mr 2 but he exchange his enemy with Sanji, and finally fight against Mr 3 ans Mrs Merry Chrismas, so I think that Calipha real openent will be Nami, also for Fukaku "Mama mia what I'm seeing, a bottle of Sake, so we will see for sure a Drenkun Master Fight" and I think I t will be against Sanji "Kunfu Style vs Teakendo", That's what I think, coz' Sanji is the third most poewerfull member in Mugiwara crew and Fukaku too in CP9 so ...
Let's see what Mr Oda reserve for us. :wacko:

And yes, I enjoy the theory of Soge holding an Impact Dial (maybe he stole the one from Waipa)

i don't understand why you all like that stupid side of his character, in my opinion it detracts from a wonderous and otherwise flawless character, it's my only gripe about Oda, the "soft/laughable/lovey dovey" side of his character isn't needed, he needs to grow out of it. i mean serioulsy basically this is Arabasta all over again, why isn't Sanji evolving?

I don't think there is a reason to worry, once Kalifa turns her devilpowers on

A really interesting chapter…
It's really good that Sogeking got to fight Jabura. I was afraid they'd make him fight the 'weakest' enemy and barely beat him... Now Sogeking will have to show some good stuff against the transformed Jabura. It's also high time to top Usopp's Most Badass Moment from Alabasta.
We already saw Franky fight against a four-form user, so I'd rather skip the Franky vs Chapapa for now (or interrupt it somehow, since the Teawase needs to be used on other SW members too) and get on with Nami's trial by fire. I really want to see her and Sogeking kick some CP9 ass! Nami might actually be quite strong against at least some DF users if the Dial-powered weather staff can be used effectively in high speed (Soru etc.) battle. She could create conditions that are especially bad for the fruit user to make the special power more of a hindrance than advantage. Sadly Yoyoi doesn't have any fruit ability...
Sanji's fight is a disappointment for me. How does this differ from the Bon Clay fight? That fight was very cool in my opinion, but it has already been done once... Maybe if Califa's fruit transformed her into some kind of hideous thing that Sanji can kick without remorse -- but that's really just a small variation of the Alabasta fight...
I think Chopper wild end up against Spandam as well, but with the additional prediction that Lucci will be most interested in another Zoan fighter. If his statement about the Zoan having virtually limitless potential for growth is true, then this fight could evolve Chopper's whole character in a very fundamental way.
Robin's DF ability is somewhat cheaty, as seen in her beating down a Zoan user in seconds (back in Alabasta). She got a bad matchup at Skypiea (how fast would she have finished any/all of the 4 priests?) that stretched the match needlessly, and now she has a strength check on her that could limit the combined battle prowess of the SWs. By this, I mean leaving the Seirouseki handcuffs on her until they can be removed in another arc. :o

Looks to be a good chapter, didn't spandam carry a normal sword back when they were talking about douriki so I wonder what's so special about this elephant sword. I mean it's nice to turn your pet into a weapon to carry around but I wonder if it has any special, special abilities.

There's no better chance for him to evolve than this. He's got beat Calipha without getting all soft on her.

Anyway, thanks for the dose. The whole key thing felt a bit forced but it's an enjoyable chapter. At least I got my SanjiXCalifa and Spandam will be kicking some butt.

he will, and he is. he always has and now he's just taking another step further. that's why he needs this fight, a fight with someone that's 100% his weakness. he'll realise it and overcome it and he'll evolve. i don't think his casanova side will absolutely disappear, though. it's comical and one of the things that's so interesting about him. but he will evolve into knowing which chick is kick-able and which isn't. XD

The other rooms seem interesting as well, Jyabura's room looks like small jungle I think.
I think it looks more like a zen garden, which fits Jabura. Though, Usopp is easily at his strongest over distance, I wonder how big this room is? Looks like this fight could be mostly close-quarters combat, which would be a huge disadvantage for him, not even considering Jabura's DF ability on top of that.
Usopp's really got his work cut out for him.

My only wish: To have Jabura do the ultimate 100% beast form shigan on Usopp, only to have it absorbed into an impact or reject dial. Plus, to see his shocked expression when Usopp gets no damage.

Something to keep in mind, recall what happened during Alabasta what with Usopp meeting Mr. 2 but the fight switching.
And by that I don't mean it will happen to Usopp again, but we could be in for more than X VS X.

As a tip for those who can't wait the translation, just go to the spoiler thread and read the spoiler translation. It helps understand what characters are saying. I remember last week, when people here were throwing wild speculation regarding events, when the spoiler thread already had them partially translated.

Also, Sanji's fight will be sooooooo cool against a woman! And a rokushiki martial artist, thorn-whip master, devil fruit user woman on top of that! I think he will have the hardest time in all of the fights.
Wano predictions: There will be 5 acts; All Straw Hats will get fights, some in Act 4; Big Mom Pirates will arrive; Carrot will have her moment, but won't join; Yamato will be a Kouzuki samurai and Wano's Guardian; Shanks will visit Luffy in Act 5; Next arc is Mary Geoise.
