Chapter 657: A severed Head
-
Thanks KiShiDo you beast! off to read
-
Thanks.
Gotta love how Oda decided to feature two minor background characters (Lady Marmieta and her butler) plus a previously mentioned but never physically shown character (Bimine) in the cover like that.
And let the screams of "Bird Girl for Nakama" begin.
-
Kishido, is by any chance your refresh hotkey broken? Anyway, let's read this!
-
here we go!!
thanks!! -
Thank you so much!!! So much FUN adventures!!!
-
Looks interesting and loving this arc so far :D
-
The best series saved for last.
Damn, cold part. I was enjoying the shirtlessness..
-
Kishido, is by any chance your refresh hotkey broken? Anyway, let's read this!
No everything is fine =) I just wanted to enjoy you
Anyway… Chapter was great. Sanji puzzeling the head together was gold and Luffy centaur as well... Still dissapointed that he has a son...
But after cnets translation of chapter 655 it seems there were more than one Samurai... But no it turns out that it was lower half/head after all.
So there is only one as it seems now
-
What the~~ More questions, no answers. Nice chapter though.
-
"A.. a violent girl?!" "What a strong willed woman!"
Hahaha, welcome to reality Mr. Samurai
-
This guy si so pure awesome… that I'm really dissapointed that he has a son for a reason...
But I'm still suprised that cnet did a mistake with saying there are more than one samurai... Maybe ccc or stephen can look once again if in chapter 655 the guy really has spoken about more than one samurai.
-
I just noticed that the Samurai Head doesn't end his sentences with a "buh". He and the pair of legs are probably different people.
Also, the Law theory just got more and more likely.
-
Good chapter. Got some good laughs out of this.
-
XD Punk Hazard is so weird. WTF was that bird-woman thing?
-
Thanks for the chapter! Hahah. It was very funny, and incredibly weird. The Luffy-centaur thing was… XD There are no words for that.
-
Children in a lab. I hope this Arc doesn't take a sinister twist.
-
So Usopp was the only one to see the winged woman…..reminds me of Skypeida were he saw the klaubuttemann (yeah I messed up the spelling) and no one else did.
Loved the interaction of Nami and the Samurai head. esp when she asked if he liked her fashion.... "that was a trap" indeed
Interesting, at mangreader it reads samurai of Wu .... not Wano. Wonder if its a typo or if theres two countires of samurai, last chapter, Brook did say Wano was known for their samurai. But maybe its known for the qaulity of their samurai, like Elbaf is known for for 'savage' giant culture (the viking-like Broddy, Dorry, Oimo & Kashi) although there are other islands with giants. So maybe Wano nots the only place of Samurai, just the strongest ones... well I'll that answer when we know ifits a typo or not
-
Oh my god. This th this chapter…All the bizarre and the humor I sincerely am not worthy One Piece I love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I'm so ready for this arc.
@ They call me D: You said it!I wish I didn't have deadlines for next week hope there's good speculating during the break looking forward to reading it all. @Haki1234: I think it will,'abducted giant babies used as lab subjects' is the first sign. Btw does the PH facility stretch to the frozen side or is this another lab they've been brought to?What I also want to know is if
Lawthe shichibukai is trespassing and acting on his own accord in this closed WG lab or is he acting as their rep. -
The start of this arc is just so utterly fantastic.
We have interesting adventure elements full of surprise and wonder, many thematic elements surrounded by mystery thus far from many different organizations of the world, and great potential for a convergence of many powers.
So looking forward to this arc, and hope Oda keeps it up. It's sad we have a week off again, but if the quality and storyline are just as interesting or even more so then it is well worth the wait.

God bless manga zone

Quick things I thought of while reading the chapter.
! Nami is looking really cute here, even more than Shirahoshi, oh dear.
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/657/7
! I read this on Professor Layton's voice
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/657/8
! Yea, Franky isn't anymore just super, he's now RADICAL!
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/657/14So, now let's make sense of this.
The angel/bird person is just making my head explode. Maybe it's some kind of spy. But spying for who? Big Mom? Someone else? I just don't know… Let's speculate like crazy people as we always do.
The person that cut the samurai can only be Law or someone new (I like how they reference Buggy), since we didn't see before that Law's power could allow different parts of the same body having thoughts and talking on it's own. Of course, he could've extended his powers in those 2 years. But then we can see they talk in different ways, meaning they are different individuals, so it's really viable that the person is indeed Law.
The samurais bodies are still missing, they must be somewhere inside the facility they are, or abandoned in the island. The head samurai kid obviously has been KIDnapped (hah, did you get it? His kid, kidnapped...) to serve as a guinea pig to whatever they are researching in the facility. Giant kids. I don't know why they would research something like this, or how they are doing it, but remember the skull from 2 chapters ago? Maybe Punk Hazard is a facility that's developing giant soldiers for the WG. Again, it's just speculation and it would be really dark for One Piece. But maybe they are testing a way of making people giant. If so, then this could be related to the incident years ago. -
So after rereading it ocne again… Do you think lower half and the head are different people?
-
That room seems a pretty good place for kids. I wonder where they got them.
Maybe it's just a Giant Kindergarten…
-
Is it really giant kids, or have the SH all been reduced ? On the previous page it's impossible to compare their size with the "gazing" guys…
-
So after rereading it ocne again… Do you think lower half and the head are different people?
Definitely.
They don't talk the same way (except if the translation made a mistake); also, how could that pair of legs talk if the mouth is elsewhere?
-
No doubt in my mind, Oda has a giant fetish.
-
that reference obviously means it's Buggy. seriously. and props to Nami for standing up the sexist comment. that birdwoman looks really cool too.
this arc is pure awesome so far.
-
So
Lower Half = Son
Head = FatherBoth were "cut" by the same shichibukai… Where is the rest of them... But with this cnet translation makes sense cuz we have 2 samurais and I doubt there are more
-
After getting the "mythical" dragon (and centaur reference), I'm kind of hoping that bird woman is a harpy. XP
And Brooooook, please come back soon! Oh all the characters not to appear in this chapter, why does it have to be you?!
-
oho..page 12 last panel on the right.. seems like Dragon appears :ninja:
-
Great chapter!
I was thinking that maybe the room full of kids could be Bonney's doing? Maybe over the two years she's developed her powers more so she can now make her targets grow bigger but still retain the appearance of a kid?
Just a thought haha
-
I just loved how they tried to put the samurai's head back together~
Also Luffy with the centaur. Expected no less from him
-
Hmm, a so-so chapter IMO. Nice info about the island but nothing special.
-

Or, if Law was really involved with all of this, he can just simply attach wings on a regular woman.
-
This whole arc has been amazing! So much better than FI.
The severed head thing had me laughing so hard, and I like the whole "You were stripped of everything and are wearing a breast band."
That made me recall Pauly in Water 7Scene with Sanji talking to the Samurai was also good.
I don't really understand Robin calling Luffy vulgar though.
-

The father states that he came to the island to save his son, then why would his son go to Punk Hazard? I can just think that his son is a little kid that has been kidnapped and the lower half is a friend of the father.
-
Since Tonjit I didn't laugh with One Piece… but then THIS page!
Too bad there is a break next week because, damn it, I am loving everything about this arc.
EDIT: Yeah, I am pretty sure head and lower half are two different guys. The head doesn't have the "-bu" thing in his speech pattern.
-
So where is the part where it says "One Piece is going on a break next issue…"?
-

She's too pretty to be a harpy. More like a greek sphinx, they have the head of a woman, often said to be a beautiful woman

You know what ? WHAT IF Buggy got more or less tricked after the war to become a Shichibukai because they noticed his DF allowed him to survive so many attacks (explosions, freezeing, being cut by Mihawk, …) and then he was presented to VegaPunk who was able to extract/copy his power, as he did for Kuma ???
-

I believe it's called "wa no kuni", meaning the country of Wa (or something along the lines). People just tend to call it Wano but it's still the same place.

He attached some random dudes legs to his back so he can imitate a centaur. What would you call that?

He didn't copy Kuma's power, he reproduced Kizaru's laser attack on Kuma clones.

Origin of the Giant Squad and John Giant.
-
This arc has a really deviant beginning, the whole feeling just screams that it's about to pop off. The samurai seems like trouble and he's obviously pretty strong taking Sanji's kick and putting a dent into the wall. I can't wait to see how Zoro compares to the Wano samurai. Also this chapter is obviously going to have alot of Tashigi development.
-

Making use of a bad situation? XD

Not a typo. Wano Kuni is literally "Country of Harmony." Wa = peace/harmony/Japan, no = "of" and kuni = "land/country"
So it's the same thing whether they're saying Land of Wa or Wano Kuni, although perhaps it would be more appropriate to romanize it as Wa no Kuni.EDIT: ninja'd by Coookie!

That's a good thinking, but the lower half was attached. Buggy's DF didn't allow him to attach himself on something (I could be mistaken). And why would Vegapunk just use give those powers to the samurais? From what we know, the marines fears them and they are not affiliated with the WG. http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/655/6

Please someone make a recap of the things we've seen in the last 3 chapters, because I am lost. :S
PS Never mind I read them all again and I got it now
