@Jonas22:
On the subject of things being too dark, I really do not understand this. People have been using Green/White on Black terminals for longer than most of you have been alive (I've been using them myself for around 13 years now). In fact, white on black was much more relaxing to the eyes compared to black on white on old monitors, and many sys admins have grown to prefer it.
As I recall it, green or amber on black were generally considered more readable than white on black.
I have a pretty nice monitor, and it's a bit strainy but still plenty legible; probably my resolution is beyond optimal for the monitor, and it's a bit old, so it might have gotten a bit off perfect focus. Also probably it's a bit of adjustment for the reader who's used to a black-on-white AP.
One thought: LCDs, since they work by darkening over a strong backlight, might do better with black-on-white than a CRT which has to work by lighting a dark surface.
One thing I do notice is that you don't see the borders of buttons as readily as before.
