Anyway, wow, three hour long original cut? Well, obviously they had to cut a bunch of stuff, but it would still be great if they could include the most glaring omissions in the DVD release (mainly Tex Richman's backstory and resolution)
Just got back from seeing the movie. I thought it was a pretty great movie.
! Jim Parsons cameo made laugh very hard And I'll admit I did cried during Rainbow Connection. And I did kinda mark out at The Muppet Show intro during the final parts of the movie begin.
The Muppets did a special segment for Children in Need. I'm sure UK viewers will find this especially hilarious.
I was fairly pleased by the film though I was surprised by the lack of a musical number from Electric Mayhem as well as Steve Martin not showing up after they mentioned him by name.
And people don't know who Uncle Deadly is?

Considering the sheer number of cut footage, there may have been one that was eliminated by the montage though it would have been without Animal.
Electric Mayhem got in on Kermits song and during Rainbow Connection, but yeah, nothing of their own.
! They probably should have been the ones who did "We Built This City" instead of just overplaying the original song.
! As for cameos, it reeeeally seems like there was probably an extended scene where they approached a bunch of different celebs before settling on kidnapping Jack Black.
Just saw it, I loved it. And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who teared up at the Rainbow Connection number… >_>
The movie was awesome, the call backs to the Muppet show were great and I love how the original Studebaker from The Muppet Movie was there when they got Sweetums.
The only part I didn't like was the bad guy's Musical number. The rap element of it didn't fit with the Showtunes in the rest of the movie and it was so short it was just like "Why did you do that?...".
Also, Now I also wish Electric Mayhem had their own number, but they were in it plenty otherwise I thought. I loved their part in Rainbow Connection. I don't know why, but Floyd's rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" from the Muppet Show was one of my favorites, and for some reason I really wanted them to make a call back to it. But I guess that would have been hard to put together.

Because that song was actually three times longer, included more jokes, and the villain's backstory originally. Its complete on the soundtrack, and will pesumably be restored on the DVD… but his backstory was pretty much cut from the theatrical version. (Both there, and from the ending, are at least two scenes we know of)
Oddly, if it was still a 3 minute song it wouldn't be out of place at all, but as a 30 second song its just too random... since it left out the important verses.

There's like a solid hour of material that was cut apparently. And while we're never going to get all of it (Every movie starts out way longer in the rough cut) we'll hopefully get more of it eventually in deleted scenes or a director's cut.

It's the general consensus that Fox News is a bunch of idiots. But they are the main media for the Conservatives in the country, so they survive. Idiots.
I want to watch this movie so bad, what the hell were they thinking when they decided to release the movie on February 2012 for the rest of the world?! If they had a worldwide release date for the movie, maybe it would have taken first place on the box office instead of Twilight 4.

Well in the past few years it's been common for Disney to release their new films in the early part of the year. At least Tangled, Princess and the Frog and Bolt all did it.
I think the idea is that instead of fighting against other things they can release it in a period where it's up against nothing.
Unfortunately for me it's went the other way. Instead of paying to go see it at the Cinema and then buy on Blu-Ray if the option is there I'll just import the American blu-ray since it'll probably be out at the same time as the UK cinema release.

Initial pre-order prices usually drop a ton by day of release on Amazon, often by as much as half. And because its Amazon, whatever the lowest price is along the way, they'll honor it.
Whn things get initially put into their systems they start at full market price, rather than what they're atually going to sell it for.
And with ALL movies, they're cheaper the first week of release to try and drive sales up so they can be number one on charts and stuff.
Its a weee bit late in the season for this, but its still timely for a few more days, I think.

Notably, this is lacking the Toy Story short that appeared in front. Hrm. Well, its got deleted scenes, so, thats the important part, about 20 minutes all told. Not integrated into the movie, nor "alternate ending", which is a shame, and not the near hour of stuff we were teased about (but presumably a lot of that was easily cut and we're just getting better stuff) but its there.
Wonder how long the "longest blooper reel ever made" is. Curious that its the only thing that doesn't get a time.
And all the spoof trailers, that's good. Not unexpected, but good.
Could do without Ms. Poogy (fell flat in the movie, don't need more) and more "Forget You" (was pushing the limits already), but the rest looks fantastic. Though Muppets blooper reels that show the puppeteers are always a bit jarring.
I hope when you click on "Longest Blooper reel" it just sends you straight to the movie.

I think its best to never, ever read Youtube comments. Theyre just…..dumb, most of the time. This video is hilarious, though. It`s funny how a bunch of puppets, one of them a female pig, come off as more reasonable than anyone on Fox News.
Am I the only one who went to see this in the UK? Thought it was absolutely fantastic, wasn't so sure it would be too kiddy from the start but soon changed my mind.
My only problem like people said was Tex Richman, his song was terrible (and felt like it had been done elsewhere….with Gordon Brown) and I agree the final shoulda been the alt version people spoke about. But the others were great, especially liked the one with the paintings.

! with Tex Richman discovering the joy of laughter (the third greatest gift) and finally appreciating what the Muppets do and then giving them the theater. (Also Statler and Waldorf going "well, that wasn't so bad!" and providing the last dollar.)
! But they opted for the "well, as long as we're together it doesn't matter where we are" ending instead and that cut it right out… and his
"brain damage" got wedged into a half second gag in the end while the credits were rolling instead.
! So a lot of bits got changed because of the alternate ending they went with. I can understand why, and the message was good... up until they called it off at the last second.
Yeah it was a pretty funny gag I admit, just kinda wish they'd had enough time to put the rest in.
But there was some great small gags I can't quite remember atm. Like Fozzy's 80s haircut. Wayne and Wanda (my two least fave chars after Miss Piggy and Pepe) making out in the dark, Sweetums running after the car and Beauregard not realizing everyone else has gone

A deal has been reached with The Muppets director James Bobin and original co-writer Nicholas Stoller to pen a sequel, but insiders also tell us that Stoller's original collaborator, Jason Segel, won't be returning to the keyboard. Segel, a star of How I Met Your Mother — now in its eighth season — has a burgeoning film career, and Disney insiders tell Vulture that between his commitment to the CBS sitcom, his other feature-writing efforts, and promotional work for Five Year Engagement (due out this coming April) and Judd Apatow's This Is Forty (in December), there won't be time to collaborate on a Muppets sequel.
I'm sort of okay with this, but upset too. Segel doesn't need to actually be IN the movie at all, and in fact he shouldn't be. His character's story was done, and the Muppet movies were never about the human characters, and they always completely jumped plots between movies anyway. Though from everything we've heard, it was absolutely his passion and love for the franchise that drove this one to be as good as it was, and got it greenlit in the first place. Can it possibly be as strong without his heart behind the scenes?
BUT, one of the writers and the same director, those are both good starts. If they get the songwriters back too (after winning the awards they better!)… I assume all the Muppets will be available to return.
Well, it is what it is, I suppose. All we can do is wait and hope it'll turn out good.

Yeah. To that end it did exactly what it set out to do. Kick started the franchise back up after nearly 20 years of nothing worth mentioning and quickly forgotten tv specials.
It's biggest victory would be to start a new Muppet show. A GOOD one. (sorry, Muppets Tonight)
Serioulsy, there are TONS of celebs out there who remember growing up with the muppets and loving them, there's a ton of guest stars just waiting. They just have to make a show that's a little truer to the roots. (Rule #1: Kermit is ALWAYS the host). The reason Muppets Tonight sucked was because hardly any of the old gang got screen time.
I mean, really, can't you imagine Lady Gaga just JUMPING at the chance to do some crazy shit with the Muppets?
