So… has anyone explained why there's always daylight in Enies Lobby? Our own poles go through long periods where the sun doesn't set. Could this point to Enies Lobby being the north or south pole of the One Piece planet, or at least very close to it? That would locate both poles on Grand Line and explain the flow of magnetic currents. After all, even though they're broken up, they still compose circles, which would strengthen the theory that something happened in Grand Line to alter the magnetic flow. The only problem is, One Piece cartography seems to contradict this. Then again, Oda could have invented a world with East and West poles, indtead of North and South.
And the name of that civilization is….....

Uranus rotates on such an axis; if I gather correctly, one pole is in the sunlight all the time.
Explanation B: Enies Lobby is constantly under spotlights; to monitor and destroy the will of prisoners.

What if Raftel had something to do with that ancient empire that the "D's" came from? And how do you think they could be connected if at all?
-
what if it was were the Grand line is now? It could have been destroyed in a war, and now there are only islands in there. The poigne-gliph could be on the Grand line's island because they were there even before…
What do you think about it? Two mega-continents orthogonal to each other in the past?!

the old civilization was in my neighbourhood until they moved some place else:happy: seriously man check the topics there's already a topic for the ancient civilization post there.

There's like five. I feel sorry as hell for whoever's gotta condense'em all later

and one point is that there was a poneglyph outside the GrandLine (Ohara's)

@omae:
Well, I dunno if I was just dumb that day but ultimately I think it was just a little hard to read (even translated). What Clover was trying to say was, the giant kingdom was actually an enemy of the country that became the World Govt. which is Mariejoa so it can't be that Mariejoa wiped out itself.
As far as it being Shandora, that's an intriguing thought and would tie in quite close to my theory of linking the people on land to the people in the sky (noting both had wings).
But I think it goes beyond that.
Oda said GIANT for a reason. I have a feeling the answer is and has been right in front of our faces and he's got to knock our underwear off with it.
Man, the similarities between freaking One Piece and LOST in how it builds upon stuff you think you know and whacks 'em around 180 degrees is amazing. Master storytelling.
I have a feeling that is theior next destination. Elbaf, since ussop did befriend the giants, that might not be a bad idea.
also, I know this might be obvious, but Elbaf is fable backwards.(take that however u want to, to me, oda t=just associted giants wit fables, and spelled fable backwrds)

It'll be nice if the old kingdom was something differant and not related to D.
-
Ah yeah, I remember that scene.
Hmm, it appears it changed it's target quiet fast. Skypiea seems to be an exception. On Little Garden it would take a year to get the next island's position and here it changes in an instant while on the sea… :blink:Maybe the logs focus on… uh i forgot the name... that strange mineral on smoker's weapon.
If i remeber correctly the clouds of skypea were filled with that thing. -
joekid, shit, I didn't know that Elbaf was Fable backward.
That story of the three animals that the admirals is based on, is a fable, right? And in it, they attacked the ogres, which someone said, would be the giants if you make it to the One Piece story. Uhm, can this be just me being crazy, or does it seem to much Oda to be just a coincidence?
I think this war between WG and giants seems more and more real. -

that fable is Momotaro:
Momotaro, a boy born in a peach to an elderly couple and goes towards Ogre Island to fight the terrorizing ogres. on his way there, he befriends a monkey, a dog and a pheasant by giving them dango (japanese bun). all four of them went ahead and battle the ogres, and won. they came back with riches and everyone lived happily ever after.

Somewhere on the forums there's a link to a full text of the fable….that's the basic gist, but it's a little more complicated. Also, keep in mind that like most fairy tales it's original version was dirtier-the old couple ate the peach, were magically turned young again, and from the hot passionate celebration love Momotaro was born. Either way, it's a fun fable ^_^

I think the Devil Fruits originated from whatever this civilization was. And are connected to those of 'D."

Oh, tony-kun, sorry, I thought it was joekid. :P
I wonder if Elbaf had some alliance with the old kingdom or something, feels like a thing that could have happened.
