Don't know how to say this, but, this is just stupid, and feels like the opposite of a time skip.
Normally time skips give characters the time to development, but instead no time passed for the Fairy tail main characters at all, and all their rivals got 7 years of experience on them…7 freaking years, that's a huge gap. It's kind of ruined the series form, because I keep thinking there is no way Fairy tail should be able to catch up to their rivals within 3 months,or even another 7 years.
That's like a teenage Carmelo Anthony trying to compete with the current Lebron James, he would catch up until Lebron hits his mid 30's and starts to slow down.

That's why we have power-ups, or the power of friendship.

I think FT sucks most of the time latly but this chapter is funny because every manga use timeskip the same way and it's rather cool to fool the reader in such way.
I like the way he avoied a big time skip cliché
That last page… What in G--
Screw that. That joke's worn out already. Just like FT's idea of rushing a plot.

i mean, i've read some trite bullshit in my time, i spent three years thinking that naruto part 2 was good, but this…
it's like, the strawhats get to fishman island and then enel blackbeard and crocodile show up, look all primed for a fight
...and then invite the crew to shank's birthday party
what the literal fuck

That would be funny.
This just isn't.
Curious though, what's the thing you guys most dislike about this ? I know what gets my piss to boil, but what about the rest of you ?
it's like…
mashima wrote up until the part about the SPIRIT REALM or some shit being in trouble, then realized he had to do three months of training, and just said "FUCK THAT" and wrote the narnia bullshit
There was a point where I wanted Fairy Tail to be the love-child of HxH and OP, but it was clear that Mashima couldn't pull that off.
Now I feel like it's trying to be something like the retarded offspring of Beel and OP, and hopefully that will be more successful. He can do comedy better than drama.

For me it just felt so rushed ever since the Dragon genkidama. Each chapter brings up and resolves a issue so fast you don't actually build any sort of sense of drama, interest, feelings one way or the other. We've jumped from:
Oh noes the main group is missing!
7 years later…
Oh we found em.
Party!
Debt taken care of.
Lucy deals with her father's death.
Rumors of stronger guilds.
All the nubs are stronger, let's find a quicky route.
That lady seems like a Dragon.
Oh she's alternate universe dragon.
Hey there's a tournament, wicked awesome!
Let's train!
Let's play first.
Okay time to train...Oh hey Zodiac guys.
Hey another party!
Mini timeskip!
Suit up!
So next chapter is going to be the start of the tournament I'm guessing.

Besides the fact that I saw this coming, even though I was joking… I guess because of the iminent power-up. Can't wait to see (insert element here) LIGHTING FIRE DRAGON!!! It was supposed to be a training for new moves, for them to get stronger. Obvious the others from FT trained, but they'll not be focused. They are never focused as Natsu & co. All our hope in this story is Gajeel.
Don't know why you guys care so much about a training arc. This is not One Piece. In one piece the characters NEEDED a training arc to be able to move on, they got spanked. they were own in the current time. They were weak.
In Fairy Tail, 7 years ago, the fairy tail members were the top of the crop, the bee's knees, the king of the crop. they were on top of the world. They were the strongest guild. They, with help, beat two of the biggest strongest dark guilds in the world. They beat Gerard. You name it. They did not need a time skip in order to train.
I found this chapter funny, first we see that if they train they would again be top of the world strong in three months, and then would seemingly cruise through the tournament. We are totally expecting that, but then ha, we get trolled by having a party for 3 months.
Also look at one piece right now. Don't tell me you guys are sick of seeing people bitch week in and week out about how super strong the strawhats are and its no fun watching them beat up on these fodder fishman. They keep hoping some super bad comes out of no where to be behind it all, or that the fishman all of a sudden try or ect. If fairy tail trained for 3 months then that is what we would see.
Also horrible comparison to say teenage camillo anthony versus labron james. Its more like Michael Jordan dissapears for 7 years and then Kid Lebron James grows up to be in the NBA now. Michael Jordan is still great and not overpowered, its just its not as insane as before. I mean look Natsu still beat whoever it was whne he fought him. It just wasn't so one sided as before. I repeat again, before this time skip, Fairy Tail was like the Whitebeard crew, they were not the strawhat crew. All this time skip did was bring the rest of the world to their level (don't know how, how come these older people were so weak before), and brining those around the fairy tail level to higher levels, such as say shirley or leon I'm sure are much stronger. But before teh time skip the fairy tail members were way above everyone else.
Fairy Tail did kind of a reverse time skip. Usually time skips are to let main cast train and get stronger so they can handle new upcoming enemies. Yet in Fairy Tail it seems that the main cast was sent forward in time at the same strength in order to have decent enemies to fight again.
I'm not going to defend whether the series is been good or not since the time skip, just saying you need to look at this time skip from a different point of view than like in one piece or naruto or ect. In Fairy Tail, the main cast is like the Whitebeard crew or the Akatsuki. They are the strong ones. The time skip, let the rest of the world catch up, and of course many surpass.
What the fuck is this?!
Fucking dinosaurs
Jesus Christ!

That basically describes my feelings with this chapter.
It does not make my blood boil or anything.
It's just…

Well that certainly sucked.
And all it took was one page to do it.

The dinosaur was clearly having a party in a realm where one day = 65 million years

I'm not really angry at manga ever, but I didn't like what was done with this because actually relevant members(Natsu's team) so far always have been winning with Power of friendship/random power-up. At this point there's practically no tension. If they had trained it would have at least reinforced that they worked for it and the strength isn't out of nowhere. But who knows, maybe the less important members will actually be important in deciding the outcome of the tournament and at least part of the usual main team will actually drop out. But hey this is Fairy Tail, I doubt that.

I actually don't mind that the Strawhats are steamrolling through the fishmen. It'd be weird to see them struggle right after 2 years dedicated to training. For Fairy Tail I wouldn't mind a training arc or if he decided earlier to not do one, but he jumps from idea to idea so quickly. This was such a random way of doing it. It's partially funny because he trolled his characters, but also a bit annoying because he seems like he wants to get to a certain point and doesn't care how spastic it makes the manga seem.

I don't think he planned on having a training arc. Last chapter was a purely set up for both the characters and readers to get trolled in this chapter. I found it quite funny.
Almost funnier reading your comments. Seems you guys all hated the idea of a training arc AFTER the time skip, and yet here he goes and skips it and you guys are having a fit that he did some unspeakable thing. You guys just are upset you got majorly trolled and in a quite well and funny way.

It's kinda hard take any struggle seriously when you know that every fight could end with a bullshit power-up anyway. OP is better with that because the crew have legitimately lost and even if Power of friendship is applied, there could be a drawback, like Zoro still being exhausted after the TB fight or Luffy unable to move after fighting Lucci. I can see what you are saying, though. This could be a good time to show the limits of the underpowered guild members.

I didn't say anything about them not winning with bullshit "love" They have been doign that since day 1, and I suspect they will continue to do that. The only thing I dislike about Fairy Tail is the arc ending boss fights. Like you said some bullshit powerup or love is almost a guarantee in every arc.
Who knows what this arc will show. I mean the only shot we got of that tournement showed mages holding up like bags of sand with magic staffs. And seemingly whoever could hold them up the longest or hold up the most won the event. So should be neat and interesting to see all the applications of magic and who does waht and what events. When it was first announced I was totally expecting a fighting tournament purely like DBZ or Kenichi, but looks like it could be something much more fun and interesting than just pure fighting.

In the end it all hangs on the execution, huh. We'll see how it goes.
I don't think anyone was especially pressed about the training. I mean Natsu's group doesn't even count among my favorite characters so I don't really care if they get to train or not. If they do the least amount of fighting in the upcoming arc I won't have a problem at all.
As long as everyone else in the guild gets to progress then its fine.
I liked how the Stellar Spirit World is a sort of backwards hyperbolic time chamber

I don't mind the BS endings in fights as much as you guys seem to.
Books a lot of times do this, and many great books do.
Examples
1. Wheel of Time books
2. Sword of Shannara books
3. Sword of Truth books
4. Hell even Lord of the Rings has an ending similar to Hades heart, destroyign one small little ring (of course that was known the whole time, but it still magically killed millions of orcs to save Aragorn and them)
many others, but listed some big name and some very popular books. Lots of times the main character will be this basically nobody the whole book and then the end they become some godlike character for a minute to defeat this unbeatable bad guy.
Now I don't want to compare Fairy Tail with those works in regards to quality, just saying I'm used to random god like powerups in stuff I read

I used to think like that. But besides the people that were part of the 7 year skip, who do you really care about? None of the remaining Fairy Tail cast is interesting at all. The 7 years took anyone who was even remotely interesting and brought them. We have the Laxus and crew. We have the Lissana family, we have the dragon slayers, we have lucy, we have the cats, and then erza and gray.
Do you really want to watch a shit ton about Jet or Droy or any of those other people? They are very well thought up and exectued BACKGROUND characters, but anymore than that and they will turn into hated people that are wasting panel time. You guys talk like Hiro is wasting their potential like the rookie 11 in Naruto, but he is smart in not fleshing them out more than background characters. That way we don't waste time on them and the background characters in the story are not nameless random NINJAS who all look the same.
I used to tolerate ft. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

Hoho, is that a Skyrim reference I see?
Well Luxus and Mira got to train for the 3 months.
Who knows maybe Gildartz came back
I don't really care if Natsu or Lucy get stronger at this point

Mashima, you really, really, really really really need to stop making both jokes AND plot points out of promising one thing and doing another. It's really annoying.
That said…a side arc into spirit realm would have been a good arc. I would've liked that, and you know what? I like a party at the spirit realm just as much (despite it, being a joke based on doing one thing and saying another). The character designs and backgrounds were interesting and the character interaction was great. It was stupid, mindless fun. Hell, I don't really even care about the end, but then again I barely care about the upcoming arc. It's like this chapter is a gift for people about to leave the series.
Edit: Oh, missed the chart. So...is the girl with the black hair ponytail Cana? Cause I don't get it.
Edit: Oh, missed the chart. So…is the girl with the black hair ponytail Cana? Cause I don't get it.
It's Erza, since one of the lines directs to the cow thing.
And anyway, too bad we didn't had many characters in this chapter, the chart would've been way more funny. But consider adding the two others that went to the beach with them… Jet and Droy right?
Edit: Oh, missed the chart. So…is the girl with the black hair ponytail Cana? Cause I don't get it.
Erza wore her hair like that this chapter.

When i saw the page showing little planets with its own houses and areas i tought we would get a training in sprit world which would have been awesome. Then i saw LETS PARTY page and pretty much guessed that they will go back exactly to 3 month into the future when they go back.
Chapter started sweet and ended with diherria. How the hell can he take Saving Sprit World + Training Magical Adventure and turn it into LOLZ 3 Month Useless Tımeskip. WTF
Come on guys, there can easily be a spirit world arc later in the series. Hell I would be surprised if there wasn't.
Just accept Hiro majorly trolled you this week and get on with your life.
