I don't watch anime, but for this one episode made an exception. It was okay. Even nice. The start was slow for me, but it gets so dynamic and the score is right on spot that I wasn't paying attention whether there was blood or not. Three thing puzzle me though - they did not show broken fork when pinky was bit of(is that too much gore for 10yo?), I thought Toriko hit Tommy at different angle in the face and Leg knife was downwards, not upwards. But these are minorities. Fight was okay and that's all I need.
Toriko

Tina's puns at the end of these recent episodes has been irritating. It was ok for the first two but now I think Toei just gonna keep milking it until even they don't find it funny anymore. I don't think there was one last night but I had no idea what she was saying anyway.
I only saw Tina once, really. And her wide eyed ignorance and oggling around the "awesome" ingredients we got in that episode was just too annyoing to bear.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So......anyone could give me a heads up on what went down in the newest chapter that resulted in that thing with Toriko at the end ? I only saw spoilers in japanese.
-
Yeah, Tina in the episodes have added unwanted story that has almost nothing to do with the original storylines… she's just a bad idea in general.
I've only seen the spoilers too, so no clue..
-
Like HnK and JJBA were aimed for 25 year olds.
It's just that children these days are pussies…
I'd blame it more on parents not wanting there kids to see the shit on television, probably cause most shit on television is utter crap and has few rules there now trying to restrict the young ones in there shows
-
So we almost got 1 week behind with the translation. It's funny how every B category romance manga gets translated week by week but Toriko isn't (excluding Kewl and his team).
-
Seriously, I think you guys should give the anime a second try. I admit the earlier stuff was debatable at times, but these recent episodes have proven that they aren't going to censor the episodes in a way that changes the original story (Tina doesn't count). I have a feeling that the episodes coming up will be enjoyable. I can't see Tina in the Ozone herb arc since that was a bonding experience for Toriko and Komatsu. And there's no way in fuck-hell she's going to the Gourmet Pyramid.
! The ending sucks though
-
And there's no way in fuck-hell she's going to the Gourmet Pyramid.
I agree with you in general about the quality of the anime, but I really wouldn't put it past them to insert her in even the most dangerous/outlandish of situations. Not that it's really anything to rage about. She basically just provides occasional exposition; the other characters ignore her for the most part.
-
Checked out the anime again. Really wish I hadn't.
Somehow they got throught the entire Toriko/Tommyrod fight (including Toriko losing an arm) without a single drop of blood falling.Complete madness.

It's already been established that blood is not happening in the anime. Hoping for it is pointless at this point.
-
I seriously don't get how you could dismiss the entire anime because of a little filler comic relief and a lack of blood. The animation and action in the Tommyrod fight's been awesome. And the pace of the anime's slowed down to the normal 2 chapters an episode (has for a while now) and looks really good. It still seems very pedantic to me that you guys are still all outraged over stuff not being perfect.
The chapter should be done sometime tonight. Everyone's been really busy, plus we've been getting the raws late.
-
Really glad you keep this up, kewl! Thanks a bunch man you're a good guy. :)
-
Kewl could your team pick up Bastard!!! for scanlation?
-
Seeing that Tina made it in the Ice Hell, how's the anime gonna deal with her when the series enters the GW?
I can think of two ways:
She gets Gourmet cells and superpowers :ninja:
Or Toriko wears like a video camera on him so she can see what's happening and the show will still be able to pan onto her when she is saying her dumb lines in her slutty little outfits(which is why she exists,BTW)

Ah, Grinpatch was a great antagonist. The rematch between him and Toriko will be epic, it has to be.
You and me both!Grinpatch is my fav bishokukai and overall one of my top fav characters!
I think he's the strongest bishokukai and will be Toriko's only final sous chef enemy(I don't think that Toriko will fight Tommy an Starjyun. What will be the point of Toriko fighting them all, that's how you ruin a good series(ex:Naruto) There is Sani,Coco and Zebura, too. They need final bosses). The full fight of him getting really serious will be just too amazing. The little taste during the BB corn arc was antagonizing, cause I want to see him in full action
Plus,I wanna see his intimidation,I know he had one
-

It was hinted that Starjjyun is the most powerful Sous-Chef. Remember how he made just about every chef except Kuromado crap himself when he slammed his fist on the table? Tommyrod has definitely gotten stronger, though. My guess is that he'll be Coco's opponent, being that there are a lot of poisonous bugs out there. The Garcon Alfaro will probably be Toriko's opponent, being that Toriko uses "fork" and "knife" and he uses plates as his weapon. Grinparch… I'd guess that he'd be Zebra's opponent, since their abilities seem similar. That leaves Sani with Starjyun. We don't actually know what Starjyun's abilities are yet, so they may be something that is similar to or meshes against Sani's touch-based abilities.
-
@FFA: I think they were just surprised because he slammed his fist to get everyone's attention, which caused all of the food to rise from the table.
If anything, Shigematsu's comment in chapter 60 may hint that Grinpatch is the strongest since he was hoping for the other two Sous-Chefs to come instead of Grinpatch. -
Toriko is out on mangareader
Thanks Kewl team!
I](http://www.mangareader.net/toriko/166)t seems that all the cards have been shown.. I wonder if Coco is planning on a cooking showdown between Komatsu and Livebearer. I also see another possibility in making Komatsu cook a hard to cook ingredient, and forcing Livebearer to miss x times in a row, forcing a loss.
-
I really liked this chapter. Thanks Kewl.
Kinda saddened by the fact that Livebearer cheats as shamelessly as he does, but then again
-
Yeah, Livebearer's a bit of a bastard, but that face! Oh dear god!
-
Wisdom Panda rocks!
But it all come sdown to Komatsu
s cooking skills, seeing that nobody wants to eat thelast incridents and Livebearer can just sit out until they can
t eat one opf the incridents anymore. -
There is a limit to the number of outs you can have in a row though, so Live Bearer has to try the next turn if he wants to win
-
The Wisdom Panda looks badass.
Great chapter. All the tricks are out and I bet the secret to winning this match will be left to Komatsu cooking those tough ingredients and earning up small points, while Livebear continues to get outs because he's too afraid of the ingredients.

I've noticed that Starjyun has a sword on his belt, and I'm thinking that he'll be coco's enemy, cause Coco can 'see' how fast he his,and Coco now has the posion armor, plus,he can deflect fire(Like the explosion fighting the GT Robo at the jewel meat). And Coco's abilities are hax as hell, and he needs to go all out on a human enemy.
For Sani,I was thinking Tommy, cause of the disgusting ness of the bugs lol.
This is a stretch, but I was thinking that Jiro and Ichiryū would have a final enemy, too.I know this is a shouene manga, and the main character gets the big bad boss, but I honestly can't see Toriko fighting Midora.
ButI agree,I think(and hope) that Kuromado,Alfaro,Limon, and Niceny, all get an individual fight, and show off their strengths, somehow.
I think Kuromado,being a chef,has a crazy,super-powered insane over-the top knife,like even crazier then Komastu's.One that not even melk knows about :ninja:
I'm just going off on a tangent lol…I guess we'll be surprised
-
This arc is great! I've really enjoyed the imagination behind the gourmet gambling.
-

And yet some people complained recently about how "boring" these chapters are.
And note, I am considering making a colection of every creepy face Livebearer has done.

Was looking back, and noticed there were some other as-of-yet unseen Bishokuya besides Jiro:
http://www.mangareader.net/349-24629-15/toriko/chapter-60.html
Some of these guys have really cool designs. Hope we get to see some of them. Maybe they'll help out in the final fights, too.

Totally agree!! Epecially the guy with the wings on his helmet, and the dude in the backround who is holding a meat-tenderizer(which reminds me the the branch-chief Barrygama lol)
And speaking of characters I want to see play some role:The 0 biotope guys! I was thnking that maybe some of those guys that Grinpatch was talking about now work at the 0 Biotope. And with the 0 Biotope,to incorporate them into the story,i was thnking that Shimabukuro could have them be back-up to the heavenly kings when the story goes into the GW.Like, the heavenly kings will be as strong as the 0 biotope guys, but their hell scenses will be their uniqueness. We've seen a few 0 biotope people,so I'm sure Shimabukuro can come up with awesome desighns for the rest
-
Will you be translating that Saikyo Jump Oneshot Kewl? No need to rush it though, you are busy as it is.
I don't really get what it meant by "that legendary leader".

Starjyn has some sort of heat emission processes under control - remember that goblin turd and his butt-bug in Bishokukai castle in needle forest? He toasted that larva with his hand. It was further pinpointed when he lit the candle in bar.
And game just got interesting. Are there any cards unknown, or these seven are all what is left? Interesting how will Toriko's team get out of that pinch. Because losing memories, beating Livebearer with brute force and taking them back is just non comme il faut. -

-
Shimabukuro is amazing. I never thought I would see a game of drawing cards in pairs in a manga and LIKE it. God, it seems like he can make anything interesting. In a few years Toriko will be a huge hit. You'd better watch out, Kubo.
-
The game is definitely getting interesting. The whole point is, who gives up first or gets 10 outs. That poisonous potato looked really nasty.
-
Match - you picked the cards - why did you pick super deadly, poisonous things? I can understand picking a balance of small and large-point items, because if you picked only cards of the same point value, that would leave everything up to the jokers, and how well the house could cheat (which it will), but what was the logic behind putting in the poison potato and nasty scorpion thing? are you TRYING to kill someone, Match?
-
really can't wait to see what toriko and coco come up with for a combo attack, but who will they use it against, will liverbear go mad when he loses and they fight him, or will they have to go somewhere and fight something to get the metor garlic after they get the memories
-
The Saikyou Jump thing comes out in December. I might try to get it if I have a chance. If that legendary leader appears in it, I'd be really interested. And we all know who that is.
I'd really like to scanlate that manga, too, once I get caught up with Gintama and Doubutsu no Kuni. Also, there's a good chance a lot of those guys we saw quick shots of will appear later as members of the 0th Biotope or something. Shimabukuro REALLY likes foreshadowing. There's a lot. Some for stuff happening later in an arc, some stuff that's gonna happen waaay later. It always reminds me of that scenes from One Piece where we meet Whitebeard before the Marineford arc. Like where Shanks tells him Ace shouldn't fight Teach. But then they do and basically Shanks had predicted what would happen several years later in the series.
Earlier on in the series when they first meet Coco, they mention how Zebura is in Jail and they also mention the President and how they call him "old man" as in like "pops", meaning he's their father figure.
-
I was under the impression that their apparently is no meteor garlic currently in existence, so the only way to taste it is through live's memories. He could be lying though in order to get them to bet their memories. If they are only after one memory, I don't see why they each have to bet all their memories. AH,guess it makes it more exciting.
I was thinking it would be something like "We'll bet jewel meat, rainbow fruit, and mellow cola in exchange for Meteor Garlic."
-
I seriously don't get how you could dismiss the entire anime because of a little filler comic relief and a lack of blood. It still seems very pedantic to me that you guys are still all outraged over stuff not being perfect.
Tina aside. The lack of blood thing gets to me because these two guys are beating the living shit out of each other and literally tearing each other limb from limb.
Common sense dictates that blood should be spilled. It just looks wrong and wierd to have that level of violence without any consequence.
Its like they're in a Tom and Jerry cartoon or somethingNow I know someone will jump on me with 'well Toriko isn't realistic etc'. But if the author wanted comedic, no consequence violence, then he would have written/drawn it that way.
I realise I probably havent articulated myself well. I don't want bloody violence for the sake of it. The anime just feels wierd compared to the manga, that's all.
-
I'll just ask my usual question, anime or manga first? I prefer watching anime, but censorship really bugs me, how much is actually changed or censored in the anime? Is it only blood that is censored?
-
I'd really advise you to read the manga, it's pretty amazing overall. At least, I really enjoy it. This last chapter was incredible, I really like the premises, although I'm a bit disappointed at Lifebearer's cheating method… Also I can't really see how they'll win. But I guess Komatsu, Toriko and Coco are up for some surprises. Also, I liked the revelation that Lifebearer is only such a good chef because of the memories he absorbed... That technique/device is really creepy.
-

I'd say manga then anime. The anime just censors blood. And then a few wounds are toned down a bit. But overall the anime is very enjoyable too. Some people here would disagree but if you can get past the fact that there's no blood I think you will like it. There are more things than just the blood that make _Toriko_ great.

It was a killer waiting for Zebura.Like the foreshadowing, and mentioning him briefly on convos as this destructive last resort option. He was like Fishman Island.
But what I'm eager for Shimabukuro to show is the relationship between chef god Frohze and gourmet god Acacia in their youth.Like, how legendary they were in terms of their adventures. Now,I'm not expecting a One Piece-level flashback, but I'd be nice to see them in action, and fighting monsters.Maybe show bits of it when Toriko and co are about to find dishes of his full course,or something.Hunters and chefs form legendary partnerships,so I'd be cool to see the original one.
And to go with that, show what the relationship between Acacia,Midora,Jiro and Ichiuyu was like, like them being trained.
-
I really hope you get the chance to pick up that new Saikyou JUMP thing, Kewl. ;~;
What's going on in the anime right now? I haven't been watching it consistently. Is the main fight over already?!
-
With a name like Meteor Garlic, I wonder if they'll end up having to go into space to get it; as in, there's none currently on Earth. Watch the moon of the Toriko Universe actually be made of some kind of Edible Cheese and have a capture level of 100 or something…
-
They already explained what the Meteor Garlic is. It grows where meteors have fallen and stuff. They mentioned it back at the beginning of the arc.
-
The panda looks bad ass
-

what the hell are you on about
-
Maybe they will use memories of Garlic not because there are none at casino or in the world right now, but because it's illegal ingredient. A doping of sorts.
And if I'm not mistaken, Match only chose deck, not cards themselves.
Coco swam in the poison tide, stream that separates Gourmet and Human worlds in the sea. And yet he can't take the potato on. What an insane thing. With such simple name and looks. -
Maybe they will use memories of Garlic not because there are none at casino or in the world right now, but because it's illegal ingredient. A doping of sorts.
No, they never mentioned anything about it being illegal as far as I can remember.
Thee's restrictions on it, yes, but they never mention it being illegal or narcotic like say Electric Banana. Which reminds me, I was a bit sad that Komatsu didn't get to prepare it in a "good" way, but then again, he way have to soon.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, I don't get why the Bishokukai would want to enslave Livebearer, when he pretty much seems to fit right in, morality and power wise.
