! Yeah i doubt walt did it too. even if he wasn't preoccupied with his own family's safety and the idea he was going to be murdered in his own home, there's no way he could have gotten near Jesse, and there's no way he could have poisoned brock on his own since the cigarette would still have been in Jesse's pocket. It comes down to which black man do you think lifted the cigarette???
! Even outside of circumstance, this sort of planning isn't something Walt would do. He makes plans based on fact and certainty, while Gus makes plans based on manipulating people. I can't say I'm certain Gus did it, it does seem more like something he would do.

I rly think the first season was amazing but after tha tit got weaker and weaker..after the fly-episode i needed a brake and now i would like to know if it is rly worth to watch the rest of the season and to sart the next.?It's the best show on television hands down. I don't know what you look for when you're watching a show an "Fly" was a hard episode for a lot of people to swallow but the pacing, the execution, the acting, the plot, it's better than any other show on TV. If you think it's been getting weaker as it goes a long then i'm not sure what you'll think of it's current state. It's certainly got darker but i think everything about it's been getting better.
Just finish Season 3. If the last 3 episodes don't convince you to keep watching than nothing will and you probably won't like where it's heading.
-
I think it keeps getting better. Most of the people I know that no longer watch it couldn't really get past the first season (one and done).
-
I had took me a day or two after opening scene to watch the whole episode. Glad I did though because it really was a good episode.

This. Half and full measure are probably the two best episodes of this series.
-
As Season 1 was so short, some people might have gotten a wrong impression of what this show is about.
in Season 2.
Even though I can see how some could think that the twins were over the top, the show never got weaker. Too muchAlso, obligatory
Kinda curious how the plot will play out in Season 5, Ep11 of 4 felt liked the climax of the show is around the corner. Also hoping they won't cut it into two parts and show the second half in 2013 -_-
-
! RIP Gustavo Fring. Even with half a face you went out like a fucking boss. Also, Walt has officially joined the Dark Side.
-
I kinda was spoiled on the ending thanks to Cranston being on Letterman (watch it, he explains what the last scene is).
Now the part where
! Gus turns into Two-Face was crazy
-
! I don't think Gus is dead. Half his face may have been blown off but his head looked intact at least. He definitely got horribly disfigured and his empire is finished once the DEA poke around the remains of his laundry. Last season is probably gonna be about Gus's revenge on Walt and Jesse.
-
! I knew that plant was important, said last week walt wasn't above poisoning a child.
! I'm really sorry to see Gus go. He was so good at being bad but walter white just had to go and ruin everything for him. But what a way to go.
! Wonder what Mike is gonna make of all this assuming he's still alive.A.V. Club is doing a season walkthrough with Vince Gilligan. Part 1/4 is up

I called it was Walt last week. Kinda was wishing I was wrong but the episode was so good.
Remember when don eladio kills Gus's partner and not him he said something like "I didn't kill you because I know who you really are." I think Gus's past will be the main problem in next season.

! So? The media is hardly reliable when it comes to juicy stories. They simply rush out the news based on eyewitness testimony without following up the details. Hell, at first they said "may be dead". I wouldn't take a preliminary news report as conclusive. But we'll see in next season, I suppose. But imo, Gus is way too cool to be taken out just like that even if Walter attacked him from his weak point. He deserves better than that.

! really? You saw his face blown off. Salamancas whole body was in pieces. The only reason they let him walk out that explosion (because he was at point blank range and realistically should've had much more than only half his face gone) was to show you something really cool. Gus is dead. Just like Gale was dead. It's not open ended nor was it intended to be open ended.

! It was a good ending for a really great character. Just let him R.I.P.! People can survive with half a face blown off. What matters if the brain is intact which it was. I find the fact only half his face damaged suspicious insofar that he might get a cool mask to cover it phantom of the opera style. It's not like Gale where there was no other choice but getting him shot in the face. Gus can survive and do some wonders for the story and given that there are still some questions left about him like who he was and his relationship with Mike, I'd say his chances aren't bad at all.
-
! The explosion destroyed the room. He was directly in front of it. Did you see the shot of the room afterwards? There is no way a person can be that close to an explosion like that and ONLY walk away with half their face gone. Tyrus was farther away from the bomb than gus and had Tio's whole body to block it. He should be just fine? Realistically he should've lost an arm and probably that entire half of his body. Even his suit is mostly still intact. Nothing about that makes any sense in a show that has been consistently realistic when it comes to it's characters and consequences. The only reason why Gilligan would do something so out of character is to give Gus a great send off, which he did.
! You're obviously not backing down from this theory and if you're thinking it then that means enough others are thinking it. Gilligan will probably release a statement that Gus is dead just like he did with Gale, which was ironically even more open ended than an explosion to the face…but not by much. -
! Realistically? Realistically, Gus would have been in pieces. I know the scene was bullshit for all the reasons you mentioned but I'm judging from what happened in the show. He had enough energy to walk away from the explosion and fix his tie and the extent of damage to his face seemed mostly superficial. I know that's an odd choice of a word with him missing an eye and half his jaw but the cranial area seemed fine more or less. If Gilligan comes and says his dead, I'll accept it no questions. It would have been kinda a waste but I guess it was a good enough send off. But for now? It's open ended, way more than Gale at least.
-
! A guy gets caught in a point blank explosion that you even admit should've had him in pieces. That is more open ended than an unseen gunshot fired by a man who has never killed anyone at possibly the nicest man in the world?
! Neither of those were/are really open ended, nor were they intended to be. This conversation is madness. -
! A guy gets caught in a point blank explosion that you even admit should've had him in pieces. That is more open ended than an unseen gunshot fired by a man who has never killed anyone at possibly the nicest man in the world?
! Neither of those were/are really open ended, nor were they intended to be. This conversation is madness.! Except the guy caught in the explosion that should have had him in pieces was shown to be walking away and fixing his tie after albeit with half his face gone. The writer went out of his way to show that he managed to come out intact instead of in pieces. Plus the character can do more for the story alive rather than dead. Gale's story could not have ended in any other way than his death and we never saw him walk away from a bullet to the head either.
-
! I already explained why they went out of their way, completely going against their norm. People were saying this same type of stuff about the Gale shooting and that wasn't meant to be open ended either. It was done for dramatic effect. It was probably more the directors choice than the writers and breaking bad directors are all about style and what a more stylish way for Gus to end. Everything from the shot where he's leaving his car to the aftermath suggest that Gus is dead. He was going to his death. Walter won. He did it in a completely horrible way by poisoning a child but he won. That's what you're supposed to leave the episode realizing. Not thinking that Gus is alive and is going to be in season 5 with half a face plotting his revenge.
! This is not up to your interpretation. Neither was that flower shot at the end. I'm sorry that Gilligan can't just show Gus in a coffin or blatantly have Walt say, "I poisoned Brock" (tbh that shot of the flower was probably painful to include but had to be done to avoid discussions like this) or have a completely sloppy scene where Jesse just blast Gale in the face. Repeatedly ofc because you could survive a single shot to the head right? So he should've shown Jesse just blasting Gales face off. Can't use subtlety at ALL because everything needs to be laid out completely clearly or its then subject to interpretation.
! I just suggested that a guy getting his face blown off in a point blank explosion was the director using subtlety
! You are a crazy person and you're making me crazy. -
! You think a man with half a face walking to fix his tie is subtlety? lol
! The scene served to give viewers doubt that it really was the end of him. If it was just a purely stylish choice, then it was a pretty shitty move breaking the realism of the series for the sake of coolness. If they'd just shown us smoke and debris, I would think he was dead. At least if he survived, it would serve more of a purpose. At any rate, I think he's still alive. If he died, oh well it was a cool death at least even if it made no sense. But for now, it's open-ended and will be till next season or if Gilligan says something. -
! The scene with Gus tying his tie after having his face blown off was there to show that his cautious nature was there until his death. You must have turned the TV off after that scene, otherwise you wouldn't have missed the news report that said he died.
-
Th scene was to show two things:
1: To make you think he was alive until you see him completely
2: To show his two-sided nature. There will be no doubt that the DEA will probably link him after the fire at the laundry place and him talking to Tio.
Read any interview with people working on this show and they say he was dead from the start of the season. I think the parallel with the bear was also intentional. Also, the title of the episode (play on the words "Face-off").

Like I said, the media news is hardly reliable when it comes to juicy stories and it's that realism that could easily carry on to the show.

! he's dead…They said they planned him to die but they didn't say he was dead. Difference! They also said they planned for him to die in Season 3. Writers can get new ideas and inspirations and change things up if they have the opportunity. Until the next season or someone like Gilligan says definitively "He died in the explosion." I'm not believing it.
-
You can't possibly have listened to that entire thing. Even if you didn't they discuss his death in such length within the first 10 minutes it invalidates everything you've said. Gilligan even talks about how he told Giancarlo that he was going to kill off his character at the end of the season and how it was such a big deal for him to deliver such news because he thought Giancarlo had been doing such an amazing job.
I'm mindblown at your level of denial. It's past any form of logic and reason. You're the Juju of this thread now. Wear the badge proudly.
-
Wait, you do realize who you are talking to, right? You should have expected that response regardless of what thread you are in.
-
this isnt marvel or DC comics where he can just inject radioactive meth into his face and go on like some supervillian
DEAD IS DEAD
the important thing is that whatever Colombian thing that was keeping the Mexican Cartel from killing Gus is now probably going to rear it's ugly head and kill everybody
-
Assuming that the Chilean thing was some Pinochet gov't connection I think it's protection has worn off a bit after 20 years. I feel like Mike was telling the truth when he said the only reason the cartel wasn't just going to kill Gus was because now they needed his distribution network of Los Pollos Hermanos. Since Pinochet is gone and Gilligan has said he liked that so much of Gus's past was mysterious I doubt he's going to expand on it.
They mentioned a big Hank moment that they were going to use in the finale but put it off so i have a feeling whatever that is, it's going to shape the beginning of season 5 at least.
-

Even though Vince Gilligan didn't reveal much of Gus' past from his life in Chile, a lot of people believe (including Giancarlo Esposito, who probably knew from Gilligan a bit about Gus) was that Gus was either a member of Augustus Pinochet's Chilean government or had enough high ranking friends to where Don Eladio knew that it would be suicide to do anything to Gus.
-
The second option seems more likely to me. If it was the first it might be a little hard not being able to find anything on him.
-
Working my way through Season 4 (and dodging spoilers until then!), but I agree with loneassassin, this is one of the best dramas I've seen on TV so far.
-
Finished Season 4…
! Wow. The final moments of Gus were awesome, although realistically speaking I don't think he'd be alive long enough to adjust his tie… but I loved it anyways!
! Dead is dead. Now that he's gone, I'm curious as to what Season 5 may contain. I think it may go into Gus' background like many of you have said, and maybe it'll show Hank getting closer to finding out how close Walt was involved. Or maybe Jesse will find out Walt has that kind of flower and the season will show a growing rivalry against each other.
! I don't want to believe that Walt poisoned the kid, but I still don't know what to make of it... I'm looking through the previous episodes to see when it may have happened.
! Even though the ricin didn't poison the kid, where exactly did it go?? -
Walt did it. It's obvious. Also, Gilligan said so. But it was obvious anyway.
-

lol, reading fail. And I was acting like an asshole too. You have my sincerest apologies.
-
It's all good. I have the moments too xD
Also, I just remembered, the whole thing with Ted is still gonna be a problem. Does Walt have enough money to have a steady living now, or is he gonna have to do more than just run a car wash to make money?
-

At the beginning of Season 3 Walt says that he has more money than he knows what to do with and he has continued to make hundreds of thousands since then. Later in Season 4 Skyler says they have so much money that it would take years to launder it all. So, money-wise I'm pretty sure Walt and his family are set for life and he can live the rest of his life in peace. The show implies that Walt switched from cooking meth to support his family to cooking meth because of his pride for his recipe.
At least that's what it seems like to me. Interpret it how you will. Either way I love this show!
-
I don't think he has any money left.
After buying the car wash and giving all that money to ted I don't think theres much left over. Certainly not enought o live comfortably off of. His deal with Gus was for 15 million for the whole year. Assuming http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/07/breaking_bad_calendar.html is even slightly accurate he's only been on the job for about 5 weeks when season 4 starts.
Take 15 million divide by 52 and he makes roughly $288,461 a week. So at the start of season 4 he has about 1.4 million. The carwash cost $800,000 I think. Walt also bought an apartment, that car that he torched, they've been paying off Hank's medical bills which are enough to worry Marie, and then there's the $650,000+ she gave Ted. Thing move pretty fast in Season 4 time wise so i don't think Walt managed to earn a significant amount of money before getting fired and then killing Gus. Assuming all of that is in the ballpark of how much Walt makes at most they have a couple hundred thousand left over. Not nearly enough to live the rest of his life in peace nor is it a significant amount of money to leave behind which was the point of all of this in the first place. Not to mention that Marie will still expect Walt to be able to pay their medical bills as well.
If the carwash is doing as well as Skyler says then he could probably earn an honest living off that. It won't be meth money but it should be enough for the family to get by on in addition to what they have left over if anything.
-
I'm really trying to like Breaking Bad, love crime thrillers and chemistry so why can't i get into it? does it get better? i'm around ep 9-11
-
If you still don't like it, it may just not be for you.
By episode 9 I wasn't sleeping, just watching seasons like a machine.
-
Glad to hear that it gets good
-
I think, as Refii said, if you don't like it by episode 9, it's probably not for you. The show has had amazing episodes by then.
-
Just marathoned the whole serie. I heard there's going to be a season 5. Idk I feel like this was the perfect ending.
-
If I'm not mistaken, they're doing a 5th Season and stopping after that.
Which I think is good. I'm gonna miss this show to bits when it's over, that's for sure, but it's better than watching it go on for longer than it needs and declining in quality (I'm looking at you, Smallville).
-
I know this may be random but…
! =
Holy shit, I didn't have a clue. I haven't been this shocked since I found out House was Stuart Little's dad. -

Holy shit, I didn't have a clue. I haven't been this shocked since I found out House was Stuart Little's dad. That's actually the reason he did the show. Since after Malcolm ended he got offers to play the bumbling dad character, so when Breaking Bad came along he took that part, since it was such a different role.

I just watched the first episode and really like this show. Wish I had started it when it began airing on TV.
