you should give it a chance
then maybe i'll watch an episode of buffy since ive never seen that
I'll watch a couple of episodes. Buffy is worth watching. My perception of its quality has probably been skewed by nostalgia, though.

I say we just leave things. The debate of it's existence is starting to repeat itself.
So… give us "staff and forum feedback" people.
Time will show if this thread is worth having.
Yeah, Buffy is pretty fun. I've watched quite a few episodes.
Not sure where this thread is heading now.
The tunnel of love.
EDIT: Dance Central workout! AWAY!
Not gonna say anything to the discussions going on here but will use it instead for what it was meant to be.
dirt monkey AL.
Your thread was tasteless and unnecessary. And it was even more tasteless to bring me into this after I NEVER voiced my opinion here in any way. I know, or better I hope, it was a joke, but this really went a bit too far.
Thanks Robo for deleting it.
Thanks for all the help i've had from the staff today. I know i offended you all earlier (unintentionally i promise) but a lot of you have helped me via pm, chat and whatnot to help me spot the errors and dumb comparisons i've made that caused such a ruckus.
Also wanted to especially say sorry to those members here that I've known for over 5 years or so that have been so good to me in all aspects of life. I didn't mean to make umbrella statements and brand people under some evil regime when i know its the complete opposite. Anyway as for feedback this is it you see….
....i was concerned a lot about the relationship between staff and members and today's episode proved to me that you guys are here to help and do it off your own back. Just sorry it had to come to this for me to realise it.
I guess it got too much for me and in my haste to answer questions I lost sense and track of it all and turned into a giant anus. My bad.
Anyway lets get some humour amongst my grovelling to show you I can change!

You need to put more effort into your campaign. Make banners and shit. I've seen more work being done to make <generic secondary="" character="">win rounds in the character tournament.</generic>
Holly, can I be your Secretary of Foreign Relations?
And if they say 'No', then just let it go. And if they attack you when you were asking nicely, either you did something wrong in the past or that mod is having a bad day and needs to calm the fuck down (you know who you are….Freedom).
That's because there was an episode of Glee that my DVR didn't record

Come on guys i can be cool again, honest.
Hey, I have a question! When you report something, does it go to the people who mod in that particular section or what? I'm kind of curious how it works, though I've rarely ever reported something myself.
A report is visible to all members of the staff.
I think one of you mentioned that the workload is different for each mod, so is there a system you have for dividing up who addresses each report or is it more like "whoever happens to be available" to deal with the issue?
I love reading the reports.
I'm reminded of how whenever somebody reports something on that other forum, it sends out a mass email to everybody in the staff that somebody just got reported.
So I get a big beep on my smartphone informing me that I received an email, I rush it out of my pocket, check what it is, and get a face full of "you ain't shit shame on a nigga for tryna run game on a nigga." and I don't think anybody, any time it happens, realizes how many people actually get emailed about their joke reports.
I hope Arlong Park has a system like that.
Like if I were to report gekko for not paying me to take out insert members would that be a bad thing, as in against the rules?

Maybe we should do president and vice president for the APForum awards this year, instead of King and Queen. The presidents nominated will get to choose their vice president.
I have to throw down the crown someday.
Unless of course, we want another ten years. =3
i actually am too shy to initiate conversation with staff
but also i'm too shy to initiate conversation with non-staff
it's a personal problem (my deficient personality) more than anything else
and i usually don't have a reason to need to talk to anyone, so everything is cool

i always get excited because i think that maybe i got a cool or important e-mail (i rarely get e-mail)
but then i'm kind of disappointed because it's just a joke report (although sometimes it's kind of funny)
Hey wait a minute.
@RobbyBevard:
Fed the cat.
Robby, you own a cat? I love cats, but I thought you were a dog person! What gives?
@Uncle:
I wish it didn't keep getting back to the personal point because I don't even care about that. In my last post, the point is flatly bolded out. It's just this sense of barriers that isn't even there. Like the way I imagine it, staff members are authoritative figures like a teacher or mother or whatever because this is a community and not a business. So regular members do develop that inferior mentality and put staff members on a pedestal, even if you don't yourselves.
This gets amplified in the cases of more serious discussions, especially when those discussions are about their jobs or the site on a whole. If your teacher or mother chews you out, you're not going to want to talk to them again until the next time that you have to. And naturally, you don't know everything about your teacher or mother's personal life and you don't need to know that in order to know that they're the authoritative figures. But they are still people and it's necessary for us to know whether or not we can approach them.
Stupid comparison? Well shit, that's how most members see it. I won't even lie, I'm scared as piss of Vanessa. I feel like I'm on the verge of a ban right now or in my example, a beating or something.
–-
You get rid of the child-parent mentality and everything is a-okay. Like how I'm friends with buster call and Gekko or talk to jonas regularly. It's just a stupid complaint and I acknowledge it. But I can't help but feel there's simple ways to get around it that don't involve having to talk to every single staff member.
I kinda get where you're coming from, Kenny. Although perhaps for different reasons. I've been on these forums for a while now, since I was about 13 years old. I was rather shy about posting threads or even talking to the mods mostly because I was afraid I'd make an idiot of myself (or get banned) and because I basically put the mods on a high platform. This is probably because I was so young when I joined (not that I'm not young now, comparatively) and being the kid in school who never gets in trouble because they're afraid of getting in trouble; being young and shy especially around members who help organize the forum kinda makes it hard to communicate. (This shyness is also partially the reason why I never venture out of certain sections, like the Art section or the misc section.) The fact that I live with a single mom probably helped to create this glorified image of the mods. Of course, over the years this shyness receded quite a bit. However that didn't stop the shock of when I was promoted to senior member. I was totally 'HOLY FUCK WUT' when I heard about it. I didn't really think I was mature enough to be promoted. But afterward I got to see just how human the mods really are. I don't really see them as 'demi-gods' anymore but as people that others can consult with if one ever needs help. It's all just a psychological boundary that people create for themselves that doesn't really exist.
I'm not sure what I'm trying to say here; I guess I'm just letting you know that you weren't alone in your position, Kenny. I've felt that way before too, though I have grown out of it.
Heavy weapons should obviously go to Urouge. :ninja:
Oooooh, what's this?! :ninja:
And don't forget to add in the rest of the mods. Buster Call is the medic. Robby can be Demo or Soldier.
omg I wanna see this drawn
@Badass:
Hi .
Liar! You're made of ice, NOT MILK!
:ninja:
Holly, can I be your Secretary of Foreign Relations?
wait what now
Robby, you own a cat? I love cats, but I thought you were a dog person! What gives?
The cat is a lie. Who likes cats, anyways? Yikes.
Well, anyways. After reading the whole thread, I kinda want to give my two cents on the issue. I voted Yes on the poll question (and, in all honesty, I did so before reading the whole first post. Really have to stop doing that) because I think having having a General Thread for staff input would be nice. It wouldnt have to be all criticism, it can be praise to, basically every small (constructive) thing you want to tell one of the mods or the whole staff in general that doesn
t necessarily need it`s own thread. That would decrease the mass of pointless threads, make the mods job easier and may even encourage hesitant or shy people to give some feedback.
Now, regarding the whole "I want a thread to get to know the mods better" thing, eh. I actually think that would be kinda awkward and maybe even lead to the mods being more alienated from the rest of the forum. They should just be able to decide on their own when or if they want to reveal private information about themselves, like every other member, too. They dont need their own thread for that, they can just do it in normal conversation, like normal people do. And if they don
t want to, thats really up to them. I don`t feel that, for example Robby or BusterCall are just faceless robots that never let their own personalities shine through.
And Smudger, I don`t think you had any bad intentions with this topic, but you did go a little passive aggressive when you were discussing things with the mods, even though none of them were overly hostile towards you or your ideas. And if you reacted this emotionally over this little debate, how would a feedback thread work exactly? You go in to criticise a thing the mods did, the mods disagree politely and you start flaming them and comparing them to world dictators?? The thread would be locked ina couple of seconds.

Also I always thought it was cool how the mods can see posts that have been edited and what was edited even if the edit note thing doesn't show up at the bottom. Just a random thought.
Oh we see everything! All your dirty laundry!
So you can see anything that's been edited? Really? Okay I've tested it.
EDIT: You know, the fact that a message can be written and then edited out for only the mods/admins to see could be one way of asking a question out in the open but not really out in the open, somewhat accomplishing what (I think) was proposed in this thread.
Also I always thought it was cool how the mods can see posts that have been edited and what was edited even if the edit note thing doesn't show up at the bottom. Just a random thought.
How did you know that? :0
does that also include deleted posts by any chance?
I think they can see deleted posts too.
I remember it being implied somewhere. I lurk a lot so I don't remember where exactly.
They hear what we think, as well. They read our minds.
And Gekko knows our bank accounts!
Nah, we're not psychic.
… although I'm not really apart of the staff.
Ahem, they're not psychic, then. Otherwise they'd know what the purpose of this thread is. lol
