@RomanceDawn:
I wasn't reading way back then, but I did go through the story from the beginning. I was so pleasantly surprised that the current villian wasn't somehow miraculously stronger than all things before it causing the Sraw Hats to struggle at every turn. Seeing Luffy just knock around Krieg and Zoro man handle Ms whatshername was extremely satisfying.
The Power Rangers can't get a new zord and new costumes and utterly destroy the new enemy only for next weeks episode have them get all blown up as if the power increase never happened.
Oda does it right with his strength levels. The people that do complain about have no idea why they liked One Piece in the first place.
@ Aohigi - Thanks for that. It's nice seeing a villian admit he is out classed before he is fully beaten. I wonder if that changes his plans at all aside from Noah?
yea i really like how oda does the strength thing. though it would have been kind of neat to have the strawhats go to fishman island BEFORE the timeskip cause tehn it would have been all amazingly hard fights for them and been fun to see them goign all out like to the bitter end like cp9. i'm glad they are kicking their butt now though and not have a GIANT Powerup to be met by insane guy instantly
@piratemarimo:
I think you're not the only one. Gaimon's description of the Grand Line was pretty damn bleak and it doesn't exactly match up. It also increases the disappointment when you realize that those guys were practically the only bounty hunters that have made appearances in this manga and none of them were the least bit threatening.
i wasn't mad at all, i liked what happened. it was like we were grosely underestimated and we put the grand line in its place, lol
@cooldud_21:
Why I have been a bit disappointed is because of the background Oda has been giving the NFP. He's given them awesome designs, very specific characteristics and mannerisms, and yet he has them fighting (till now) like random fodder. With Whiskey Peak, there was no 20 chapter buildup, they just went "hahaha, we'll catch these pirates when they're asleep" and Zoro went "slash, bang, thank you maam".
I also agree on there being no non-fodder bounty hunters in the series. I just imagine, if someone like Smoker had been an independent operative… sigh
i think you guys had too mcuh expectactions. Its like dadan. i mean look how much she was played up BY YOU GUYS on this site. just cause oda mentioned the name 100's of chapters ago doesn't mean its going to be some insane person or luffy's mom or ect. just like fishman island. I mean hell, arlong was supposed to be this strong fishman, if after our time skip we BARELY beat teh fishman it makes arlong look like the biggest pussy ever.
I like that even 600 chapters later, ARLONG still can be seen as relevent right now. If arlong was here right now, he could have been stronger than even Hodi was pre-drugs. So drugged up arlong would be same or stronger than hodi is right now.
and tahts what i like about this series. otherwise i mean look at naruto. the earlier enemies like the sword guy seems now that the entire cast should be able to beat him in a second, hell its rediculous thinking back on how kakashi was having a hard time with him. worse if if you think back on bleach or dbz characters.
