Well we don't have no franchise stores for anime in malls, etc. that just deal with all anime/manga? Why ain't there any? Do you think there will be in the future? Thanks
Why ain't there anime stores in America?

Because the market is relatively small and its riddled with bootleg merchandise.
But I have an anime only store in my mall. It sucks, but I do have one.

What is it called?

Because of the title of your post.

@Lil:
What is it called?
Anime Ages.

In the UK, in terms of television we have little to no anime at all. In terms of PAL DVDs we get a lot of Viz work, but usually if Funimation dubs it it means we don't get it. (We will be getting their Fairy Tail dub though!)
In terms of merchandise and that, luckily we have Forbidden Planet (which actually has a .com site as well! And I mean I realise it's good to have a tangible source, but I've just started net ordering myself lately so maybe you could contemplate using that?) and various bookstores will stock manga. We get some of the games for Europe release; Namco didn't release Gigant Battle in the UK, just mainland Europe because 'the market isn't big enough.'
But surely anime/manga is much bigger in the USA, I'd have thought. I mean I know after Japan, France has a huge market for the stuff. Perhaps not big chains of stores, but there are bound to be your odd few anime shops in your local mall?

Not much, but there's a sort of Asian Imports store (actually two) at my mall that sell a lot of anime merch.
Like said before, there isn't enough demand for it. I guess it's just better to go to cons and buy stuff there or just go to the online stores like amiami.

My local mall has an F.Y.E. store with a good quarter of the store filled with anime.

Suncoast used to serve that purpose, but they died off. Even Best Buy doesn't want to carry DVDs anymore.
-
Yeah I used to frequent best buy a lot for my anime DVD's, but then I wised up and realized they overcharge by a lot. It would be cool to see some sort of small anime/manga chain to open up, maybe one directly by Viz media (They're the only company I could see doing it).

What about "Made in Japan"?
