However, I wonder if Oda is gonna reintroduce characters like Smoker directly in the main storyline. I have the impression that he is showing us characters that we won't see for a very long time or who won't play a major role in the NW.
I suppose Ippon-Matsu will be the last cover story within East Blue. Then we get to a seemingly never ending cast of characters in the Grand Line, starting with the shock of Crocus and Laboon seeing Brook and wondering.
Other than them, I'm curious to see if the giants are still futilely dueling with fists, what the new country replacing the old Drum is called, what Gedatsu is up to after his cover story, what Cricket and the monkeys are up to (please go to Skypeia), how the process of making Water 7 a ship is going (it should be more than a 2 year project), and what Lola is up to. Everything else, while nice to see, seems like it should have stayed relatively stagnant.
I'd also like to see the reactions of people like Moriah and Spandam, but since Kuro didn't make the cut I sort of doubt it.
I still want to know what happened to that pacifista.

Err, I think there's a very high chance that she'll appear during the Reverie which is bound to be coming. I see no reason why Oda would waste that opportunity, even if she does get a cover of seeing the newspaper (which I think she probably should).

I highly doubt Vivi would ever be completely forgotten. If she's not in the Reverie like Urouge mentioned, she's still bound to appear in tidbits like she always had been after major arcs. I just don't see her having a cover story though. Especially after a two-year time skip, the rebuilding of her country is probably going well now that it's been united again for so long. "A Day in the Life of Vivi" would probably be garbage seeing as her life is probably going pretty well…
On the other hand, I'd like to see either Chessmarimo, Wapol, or Foxy. Chessmarimo because really no explanation was given at all about what happened to him, and it'd be interesting to see how he copes with being permanently fused together. But then again it has been 2 years, so they've/he's probably dealt with whatever hardship. I'd like on update on Wapol too, just to see if he could potentially return or not. Idk why, but I'd like to see him back. But I mean he already did have his own cover story so it might not be likely he's featured again. I found Foxy pretty funny, and maybe he could be like Buggy, a recurring enemy.

I doubt they could scape from there without any ship or log pose, but that's irrelevant, the important is.. why so hate towards whisky peak, it has a cementery shaped like a cactus, and a poorly built and seemingly destroyed town, and a river through the island (or not, i even can't remenber this) and.. and.. nothig more, but… but... if mr.9 and ms.monday stayed there, sure now it's all rebuilt and is a good town for receive the pirates which have chosen that path , which doesn't seem a good idea at all, well...

Well still with Johnny and Yosaku apparently being based out of Cocoyashi yet showing up before Baratie which is where they showed up in the manga, it's showing that Oda's not entirely going in order of location or time of introduction, but kinda just a mix of the two. The point still stands.
I wonder if Oimo and Kaashi will be around Little Garden seeing Dorry and Brogy still punching each other or if Oda will make them appear on Elbaf or something. By the way, I hope Oda get's the Strawhats to Elbaf soon. It's gotta be freaking epic.

I agree with Dadan and crew likely being an exception. They were introduced only recently, but that was only because Oda was holding out on revealing them. It's likely he's had the idea from the beginning. She's extremely important to Luffy, and worth showing from the start instead of having to wait until we're 100 chapters into this cover story and at the most recently introduced characters. That spot's saved for Sabo.
I think it will be some kind of both, time we met them and the appearances of the islands we are on. But I do anticipate to see some characters on islands we wouldn't know they are on. Coby as a captain on an island we already know perhaps loguetown. Cricket in his new adventure. Lola on an island we already know.
Coby's not one I anticipate seeing. He's a marine, which we see throughout the actual story. They aren't staying put on islands long forgotten, and therefore don't seem like they'll be getting focused on in the covers. Same pretty much goes for villains evidently, which Marines fall under as far as the SHs are concerned. We haven't seen Alvida or Buggy, or even Kuro, who we haven't seen since East Blue. That takes away from them if we end up seeing them in the future.
What I expect to see are the people who were left on good terms with the SHs, which is why I think we may see Monday, even though she was a villain, she fought to save Vivi. The other BW members who stayed at Spider's Cafe are iffy since they cleared up their villainy, but not related to the SHs. And we'll definitely see Gedatsu. But yeah I'm highly doubtful we'll get a glimpse of Enel's impending moon army.
Now that GreatLiver said about good terms, I wonder about Gin. We didn't see him, and he did promise back on the day they would go again to the Grand Line. I wonder if Oda has Krieg's group stored for something.

He did not show characters like Smoker and Coby. It seems Oda is gonna reintroduce them directly into the stroryline.

I remember that the giants Oimo and Kashi from EL departed W7 for Elbaf. I think they should stop fighting and reunite with their crew. I hope so.
Oimo and Karsee said they couldn't go back to Little Garden if the duel wasn't finished yet. So yeah, Dorry and Brogy are probably next unless Mr 9/Miss Monday get some Oda love (or Banchi!!!).

We never did get confirmation that Miss Monday and Mr. 9 were still alive and kickin', but even so they were villains (sorta).
Couldn't Vivi, Carue or Igaram be the next (presuming Mr. 9 and Miss Monday are dead). As shown with Yosaku and Johnny who were at Cocoyashi and were shown before Baratie, Oda seems to show the characters in the order of introduction, and Vivi and Mr. 9 were introduced shortly after Crocus and Laboon while Igaram and Carue were introduced in Whiskey Peak.

Well if the baratie got 3 covers Alabasta, being the massive arc it was should get at least 4-5 I mean we got Vivi, Cobra, Ingram, Pell, less important jackal dude, Toto, lashes, scizzors, Kohza and the kid that saw Bon turn into the King.

It was a Pell joke, though mr.9 and Mrs. Monday suffered much lower damage than Ingram when his ship blew up right after them. The two named people you did mention were killed point blank, one of em was even tied up. I just think its extremely unlikely that they died.
Oh and good point I forgot about Toto's bro and Gedatsu, its gonna be a long coverstory though I don't mind, the baroque works one was 40 chapters long.
