The trailer is aimed at male gamers. It's not my sorta thing, but it's a common advertising method in the gaming community(sex sells). I was really annoyed with it at one point, but after a while I just seemed to stop caring. It's basicaly the same thing as developers showing off facial/backgound textures and a bunch of insignificant things up close in magazines for nerds that care for that sorta thing. For me, I just play the game.
THE GODDAMN BATMAN: Arkham City
-
-
I for one don't pay attention to stuff like this I mean yeah it's fanservice and it's blantant about it but I'm not interested in this because of that pure and simple. I'm intrested in it solely because I get to play as another character besides Batman it has the same appeal to it as playing as Joker in Asylum.
-
I must resist the "Batman: Arkham Kity" joke…
-
I'm pretty sure you can find a few people still miffed about the fact that you can't play as Robin or Nightwing.
Who and Who? Lol.
-
A demo was shown this morning on Spike. Catwoman isn't simply a playable character in a separate mode, or as a "second path" in the story. She is mandatory playable at random spots throughout the game. You switch between her and Batman, with the story taking a sort of, as the producer put it, "Pulp Fiction" approach. We got to see Catwoman's combat and… it's basically identical to Batman's. Which I guess is good, or else we'd have to keep getting back in the flow when we switched characters.

You want to know how to make me appreciate Harley Quinn in this game? Make this abomination:
Harley Quinn! Deadshot! King Shark! They’re a team of death-row super villains recruited by the government to take on missions so dangerous – they’re sheer suicide! Who will be the first to crack under the pressure? Find out in SUICIDE SQUAD #1, written by Adam Glass (FLASHPOINT: LEGION OF DOOM) with art by Marco Rudy (THE SHIELD).

But it's not like Catwoman isn't very sexually charged to begin with.

What on Earth could Harley Quinn possibly do to get on Death Row
OH NO THAT GIRL WHO WANTS TO SIT ON JOKER'S BONER SHE SHE SHE
SHE DID … SOMETHING BAD

@Holy:

It's from the DCU reboot….excuse me, I meant "relaunch".
Pretty much she is a completely different character. For example, as far as we know, Time Drake might not even be associated with Batman at all in the new DCU and Superboy looks to be a cyborg. Also, Barabara Gordon is Batgirl again and looks younger than Dick Grayson.

I know, I know. But it was just obvious that the trailer was stepping over the bounderies of sexual teasing to spoil whatever audience it was aimed at. Showing the same shot of her behind twice? Lovely.

Honestly, from the demo I saw, they were merely showing her gameplay in that trailer. Walking around as Catwoman results in heavy hip swaying.
-
i honestly dont care if we can be catwoman or not.
her behind looks nice none the less :) -
Yeah, someone needs to gif that shit. [/shameless]

After how much Rocksteady said Robin will never be in one of their games… and they end up selling out to make it a retailer exclusive DLC.

Maybe Warner Bros. twisted their arm good either way.
-
Who the hell wants to play as Robin? I'd rather play as Alfred with his mad boxing skills.
-
I wanna play as the Batmobile. Imagine Freeflow Vehicular Manslaughter. Batman doesn't kill, but no one ever said anything about his car.
-
Screw that noise, I wanna play as Thomas Wayne!

I know it's a Batman game and all but… I think Batman is far too dominating on that cover. The first games cover had a good balance of Batman and enviroment. I'm kinda disappointed Catwoman didn't find her way onto the cover aswell.
-
I love that coverr. especially the color scheme.
-
Just in case some people didn't click on Buuhan's link, here's the Catwoman trailer.
Hot damn! She's gonna be a blast!
Dude, what is the song in that trailer?
No one else answered this so….

I hear ya, I feel ya, I see ya, and I agree with ya.
The DC reboot has been remotely recent. I don't know if this is the same reboot, but….head implosion is expected.

Sex bomb!

The previous cover (the Batman: Arkham City logo) was just a placeholder, huh? I liked it better than this. It's really simple, but it works, I think.
Should I get the 1st game before getting this one?

Yes .

If you don't care much for continuity I'd say no.

[qimg]http://zoknowsgaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/batman-arkham-city-box-art.jpg[/qimg]Why do I have the feeling the Collector's Edition might get better boxart like MvC3.
-
Should I get the 1st game before getting this one?
Let me be more specific.
The first game sets the basis for this one. So storywise you should play the first one.But the real reason you should play Arkham Asylum is the experience. It's a fantastic game: great story, voice acting, and gameplay.
The Scarecrow fights still stand out to me, and I'm not sure if they'll exist in AC.
AA gets you used to the (fantastic) combat system, and introduces you to all the gadgets your ging to be starting AC off with. So that's another plus.
Andother reason you should play AA is for the environment. These games, while being similar are going to be different. The Asylum will have a different feel from the City. One is secluded while the other is expansive.
So yeah, I definitely think you should play the first one. Besides, you can get it relatively cheap.
-
just finished asylum, awesome game from start to end, i was so focused in collected all the riddles too… Can't wait for city
-
So, who's going to be my best friend and buy me Arkham City because it comes out on my 21st birthday? #shamelesswhore
-

This is probably old news for a lot of you, but I was going through my favorites and something in this caught my eye.
What I think people are really going to enjoy is not just how Arkham Asylum led to Arkham City, but also how the story in Arkham City sheds new light on the events you saw in Arkham Asylum.
KaizokuOLuffy: more reason for you to play the first one.
Everyone else: What really caught my attention was the shedding of new light on events in the asylum.
My brain has suddenly taken off with theories and ideas. But I'm also confused, as I thought everything was tied up pretty well, except for the post credit cliff hanger of course. What could be freshly illuminated?
Thoughts anyone?
Sorry for a practically empty post. This just got me thinking so I figured I share it.
-
Definitely cannot wait for this game.
Probably not going to leave my room for a few days when I get it. -

@IGN:
Robin will be an exclusive pre-order character to play in the game's challenge maps through Best Buy in North America. It's unclear as of now if Robin will be offered separately at a later time.
The Best Buy listing reads:

The Tim Drake Robin pack is available exclusively to fans who pre-order the game from Best Buy on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.Robin comes complete with his own unique gadgets and special moves, and will be playable in all challenge maps in the game, as well as two additional challenge maps that are included with the pack: Black Mask Hideout and Freight Train Escape.
The pack will also contain a bonus Red Robin character skin.

If I had the extra money I would.
-
So Robin looks like Damian Wayne…..but is supposed to be Tim Drake.
...
-
I still can't get over that Rocksteady actually put Robin in the game after all that times they said "no." Money must've said "YES" louder.
-
They haven't really put him in the game. He's in a couple of challenge maps that you can only get if you pre-order at best buy?
Let's be honest who here actually pre-orders their games at Best Buy?
I think Rocksteady just saw this as a way to get extra money for their next project. They are still a small independent studio after all. They did Urban Chaos: Riot Response which was good…nothing special. Then they made Arkham Asylum and now Arkham City.
That'll be 3 games to their name come October, so they can use all the funding they can get.
Besides all they had to do was design Robin and then swap him with Batman in the challenge Maps. Not a lot of work there.

The fuck?
Brings back painful memories of "Batman and Robin".
-
That Robin looks like some random bald thug who just got out of rehabilitation and he seems really pissed about the costume.
-
He looks like the guy from The Force Unleashed.
Or, alternately, a skinhead.
-
Is it too much to ask for Robin to have hair?
-
That robin looks horribly uninspired. I hate it. But I notice a lot of "fans" hate Robin, or don't want him in this game. I'll never understand why people want batman to remain solo.
-
Why do we want Batman solo?
Because he's the goddamn Batman.
-
Gah, c'mon Dev. team. You can make a better designed Robin than that, well hopefully he will look better when in color and not black and white.
-
They probably don't care enough to design a better Robin.
-
I still can't get over that Rocksteady actually put Robin in the game after all that times they said "no." Money must've said "YES" louder.
Or they must've been bullshittinging us.

This is kind of reminiscent of when people bitched and moaned about Scarecrow design in Asylum.

I never had a problem with Scarecrow's design. I didn't know people actually did.
I could care less about Robin.
I preordered my copy at Gamestop a month ago, so the only way I'll get to play as Robin is if his maps are later released.
-
I think the Robin design would be absolutely fine it it wasn't for that goddamn shaved head.
-
I never had a problem with Scarecrow's design. I didn't know people actually did.
Gamers are highly vocal about art or character design particularly in this generation. Personally I think the shaved head makes him look like a badass almost like a shaolin monk.
