Welp, took the plunge. I put a 3DS in layaway, I'll have it out the first week of June. I figured even if there's not much in terms of 3DS titles at moment that it would prove a good buy due to never having a DS, better than buying a DS for $100-$120 and just buying a 3DS in a few years.

Looks fake to me (that and the disc slot is way too small, GC sized) any thoughts?

cafe is now officially official, nintendo has confirmed. They're looking for a June 2012 release.
-
Wow, didn't expect them to announce it so soon. Guess we'll see in June how true the rumors have been.
With the 3DS in layaway I decided to go through the entire DS library and finger pick out the games I'm interested in:
[hide]
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Bleach: The 3rd Phantom
Dragon Ball: Origins
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Jump Ultimate Stars (played and beat on emulator years ago, really enjoyed it… but due to the expensive of importing I may pass on actually owning it)
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
One Piece: Gear Spirit
One Piece Gigant Battle (importing makes both OP games a huge if)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (played an emulator, but it'd be nice to play it again on the real thing)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
The World Ends With You
Pokémon Black and White
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (the Layton games are a huge if for me, not big on puzzle games, but I hear a lot about them)
[/hide]Primary "DO WANTS" are the Ace Attorney games and TWEWY.

Why is Okamiden not on there? Shame. SHAAAAAAME. Chrono Trigger is a must-have too. And I know you like RPGs so Radiant Historia needs to be gotten. Aside from that it's an overall good list. There's another Kingdom Hearts game out on the DS too. It's about as pants as 358/2 tho.
-
Okamiden - I've yet to play the first outside a rental, also hear it's not as great as the first.
Chrono Trigger - Releasing as a PSone Classic soon. TV > Handheld. (yes, I'm aware of the loading times)
Radiant Historia - I think I have too many RPGs already, but I'll keep it in mind.
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded - Think I'll skip it. -
It's not as good as the first. But considering how great the first is doesn't make it bad at all. It's like Back To The Future part 2. Not as good as the first. But still pretty awesome.
And I'd certainly recommend Radiant Historia over Kingdom Hearts, Revenant Wings, Bleach and Dragonball. Not to mention it's an obscure title thats really ignored.
-
Ordered a 3DS yesterday, couldn't wait for the price dropping lol.
Also ordered SFIV3D along with the 3DS.Any other games out worth BUYING?
Depends what kind of games u like. Right now the best games based on unanimous review are SSFIV, Ridge racer, shadow wars, samurai chronicles, pilot wings and cats and dogs. 1 fighter, one racing, one rpg, one hack and slash, one flying and one cat/dog simulator(?) Game. If you like racing pick up ridge racer you won't regret it especially if you can find other people to race (which I've found difficult) but aside from that Tibet just pick from the genre you like and you should be fine.

cafe is now officially official, nintendo has confirmed. They're looking for a June 2012 release.
Where do you see that?
-
There were actually a few problems like that back when the game launched. Basically because SSBB is on a dual-layered disc, reading it takes a bit longer and puts a heavier toll on the console, so it could be minute bits of dust that somehow worked its way in there making reading the SSBB disc hard.
You can either try to clean out the disc slot yourself or check the Nintendo Website, because a special service specific to the Smash Bros. problem….supposedly.
(thats a lot of s's)
Thanks, I've searched the internet and people are suggesting to use a cleaning disc. I'll try and hope for it to work:D
-
Where do you see that?
another 01net story (the guys who broke that the name was cafe and so forth).
It makes sense as well, they're not going to launch it any earlier in the year after the relatively poor 3DS showing in spring.
-
Good to know, I was fearing they would wait for E3 2012 for the first showing.
-
i'm super anxious for e3. with a new hardware coming out so soon with the 3ds i imagine they will announce a bunch of interconnectivity features between the two
also wondering on game like dragonquest 10 and other wii games that have been in development that we have seen nothing of for a long time if they were secretely transfered over to the new system or not.
-
DQX would make more sense on the wii. Enix always targeted the lead platform to maximise sales, and there's 86 million wii's out there.
-
DQX was also announced to be a Wii title well over 2 years ago, before IX even hit stores if I recall correctly, so its not like it should be a tremendous surprise.
-
But at the same time we haven't really gotten any info on it outside name and platform. But surely they've done a considerable amount of work in the past 2 years that they can't just start over on a new system.
-
I'd be really disappointed if it doesn't come to the Wii but to the "Wii2" … doubt it though

No Advance Wars? No Mario & Luigi? FOR SHAME.
and Meteos. Good God, Meteos. I think my soul is 50% Meteos by volume. My love and obsession with that game is both unhealthy and borderline illegal in some states. It is kind of like Tetris meets Pokemon Puzzle League meets MAKING ROCKETS OUT OF BLOCKS AND EXPLODING PLANETS.
I seriously can't recommend Meteos hard enough, I've been trying, but my devotion to the game goes far beyond what mere text could convey. When I was in the height of my Meteos frenzy, I would look around me and see disorder. I would see things that really should be lined up. I would walk around in a Meteos-induced haze, playing the game in my head whenever I closed my eyes. It got to the point where I would seriously look at people, and wish that their noses were moved up to be in line with their eyes, because that would make a good row. I kid you not.
So yeah, get Meteos.

Buu doesn't like Nintendo games :/ Otherwise I'd have recommended those same games along with Fire Emblem and Zelda.
Meteos I've never ever played but wanted to. Seems to be a bugger to find too. Is the Disney version the same basic game?

don't like nintendo games?
hearing that just makes me think of some idiot racists. seriously i can understand saying that you don't like first person shooters, or flight sims, or rpgs, or ect. But not liking nintendo games, or should say, not like "insert devloper" games is just ignorant in my eyes. To me its you just basically saying, i don't like gingers, or black people, ect. grow up.
there are some developers i'm sure that i have never bought one of their games, or liked one of their games, but htat doesn't stop me from checking out any new games they announce or release. Just cause i didn't like any of their prior works doesn't mean that can't change and won't stop me from trying them or reading consumer reviews i guess. video game journalists reviews me jack shit.

-
Buu I'm interested, wanna elaborate why you don't like Nintendo games?
Sure there are great games not made by Nintendo but whenever I buy a Nintendo console it's mostly because of the first party titles… -
Most on the best titles on the Wii ARE first party ones sadly.
-
Sigh… thanks Local for bringing up this shit again. I don't "don't" like Nintendo games, I've just never really played any of the companies big properties (Zelda, Metroid, only played a little Mario) is all, and like many long running properties, I tend to not like jumping in, these are huge properties with a lot of history and it's intimidating and I wanna choose carefully how I first experience them. Local has always taken this as me being "anti-Nintendo". If I was, I would not own a NES, Gamecube, GBA, Wii, and soon a 3DS. Admitably I haven't played any of these systems very much.
Truth be told, I'm considering picking up Zelda; OoT 3D and making it my first Zelda. Try not to paint false pictures of people, Local.
-
No, you stupid, stupid dumb fucking idiot, disliking Nintendo is a sin and a crime against humanity! Derr!
EDIT: Wait.. never played Zelda? Ok, for once, I kind of agree with Local, what the hell man?

not sure what you mean by saying long running properties and having huge history when refering to zelda, metroid, ect.
each game is completely original, except a couple. You don't have to have played any of the prior zeldas to play any of them. They are all essentially stand alone games. more times than not its a new zelda/link in each game. only a couple involve the same characters. And metroid, its essentailly just a you investigate a planet and find some pirates doing shit there so you beat the shit out of them all.
its not like god of war or kingdom hearts or name others that the stories are all one big trilogy or whatever. or looking at your sig, its not ilke prince of persia where its all one big story either.
hell compare them to final fantasy games more like it. Or I like to think of it as like the Terry Brooks, sword of shannara books. While yes they are in all one big continuity, you dont' have to have read any of the others. Each book is essentailly its own story. In a new timeline, with new characters, ect. Sure they may be ancenstors of the people in the prior books, but it's nothing big.

This post is deleted!

I wasn't talking about storylines by talking about them being long-running. More so there's a lot of games and it's the matter of deciding where to start. I honestly don't understand what the big deal is for not playing these games. I'll play them when I play them, there's no hurry, the classics aren't going anywhere… otherwise they wouldn't be classics.
This is why I didn't come in here asking for requests on what games to play on the DS, but merely I was posting my wishlist.
-
You dont need to play prior games to get into Nintendo's FP games. Thats one more thing thats do great about them. The Kirbys, Zeldas, Marios, Metroid's ect are all stand alone games that give you a fresh expereince with each new game. A big example is Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Bros. Its under the same franchise but the gameplay is night and day different.
Since you'll try OoT3D I wont push any games on you but I'll be really interested in your opinion after playing a 12 year old game… :) -
Wooo! Free Excitebike 3D with May update (In Japan)
fingers crossed we get it too.
Also. IT is still being made.
-
next console the sensor will be mandatory.
and then randomly ask you whether you're running offical firmware, and brick the system if you lie.

I just hope they find creative ways to use it. I can see something along the lines of Wii Fit: Vitality Edition coming along with it already, but I hope that's not all it'll ever be used for.
Heck, I want the new console to be pushed creatively, just like I hoped the Wii would have been (That's not to say we didn't have games that used the Wii effectively).
Although it's most likely going to happen, I don't want tons of shovelware crap coming out for the new system. -

Optical implants will be required to purchase the license to use this software.

I like the fact we're getting a bunch of great NES and SNES games made into 3D for the 3DS and they're not just remakes. So excitable. I really want to play such games like Castlevania, Mega Man2, and Yoshi's Island in 3D.
Also there might be a 3DS version of Pokemon Colosseum. So far the images are apparently Agate Village but not much else confirms it. And I doubt this was the pokemon title they were talking about before but whatever. Here's the images. Yes, the quality is ass but whatever.

Omg I hope not…I mean I hope that fake.
Even though Colosseum was the best non-handheld game of Pokemon and was actually fun, bah wtv I don't mind but I would prefer something new.
-
Looks more like XD than Colosseum methinks. I recall Colo's main char looking a lot more cooler. Can't remember much of XD tho.
-
I can't hear you over the sound of MIROR B.

Bah I'm confused, wich was the one where you snag the pokemons etc? wasn't it both? the one where you start with the emo guy with an Espeon or Umbreon, Emo guys ins't in those pics though.
Edit: Yeah that's XD, the Emo guys is from Colloseum.
-
Buuhan owned all those Nintendo consoles and never played any Legend of Zelda games, but made a Nintendo thread… this nigga...
-
Miyamoto expects to see more remakes on the 3DS. Now this could be a bad or good thing depending on if you like remakes of your favorite games. We already know Nintendo is using the eShop to let people download classic titles (Ex: Super Mario bros, Megaman 2, Castlevania, Yoshi's Island and many others) all in 3D and with more added stuff according to Reggie. But I really don't want the 3DS to remake every game in history.
A bit on Project Cafe. Iwata explains why they developed the Wii 2, saying "The reason Nintendo decided to develop the Wii 2 was that developers were having a difficult time surprising customers with the current Wii." and that the wii2 brings something new to home game systems. Iwata also confirms we won't be seeing a release for the Wii2 till sometime after April next year.

@Cyan:
I can't hear you over the sound of MIROR B.
The only man who loves Ludicolo almost as much as I do.

Most likely fake. They're using the old 3DS press shots with the old colour slide pad.

Take this with enough grains of salt to choke Oars:
http://mynintendonews.com/2011/04/26/nintendo-3ds-new-banjo-kazooie-game-coming-to-the-nintendo-3ds/
@My Nintendo News:
The latest rumour doing the rounds on the Internet is that Rare are currently in talks with Nintendo to bring across some of their beloved franchises to the Nintendo 3DS. Rare previously developed a couple of titles for the Nintendo DS but stopped once they were informed that they should solely focus their attention on Microsoft’s Kinect device.
Supposedly, the company is in talks with Nintendo to develop games for the 3DS platform, including a 3D continuation of the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Pleased with the success of their previous handheld outings and seeing no conflict between the XBox market and the handheld gaming market, Microsoft supposedly sees this as a positive as it could boost sales of their titles developed for XBox 360. Sources also say that Nintendo and Rare discussed a 3DS continuation of the Star Fox Adventures series, but that nothing is currently in development on that front.
-
Cooool! Sounds good for Star Fox fans!

That game's Pokemmon XD: Gale of Darkness. But, I wonder why it's being released for the 3ds considering there are over 200 pokemon introduced between XD's original release and now. Unless they're updating it.
-
Its a fake. As someone else pointed out, the 3ds image is an old prerelease one with the colored circle pad, which should be gray, not blue in a real 3ds.
-
Faking a pokemon game for the 3DS? So many hopes have been dashed.
Any way I am putting together some 3d screenshots of Crysis and Half life 2 for the 3DS. Does anyone want some Unlimited Adventure 3D screenshots or should I just skip that due to Unlimited Cruise coming out? I will also do Portal 2 when I get around to buying a copy.

screw Pokemon Coliseum, I want a better version of Pokemon Rumble. With all 5 gens. And a less-shitty move roulette.
