So, I got extremely bored and made a thread about the "Project Cafe" at the forum I co-run, and being bored, I also made images to go along with it, including a neat logo for it.
Being as I actually put effort in it, I decided to share it because "Why not?"

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm kinda excited about the potential of this thing.
In all honesty, when I saw this image, I thought it was the official logo for a second.
I finally got my first 3DS game in SSF4 and I suck at that game(but is still pretty fun)
Or a guy standing in front of a urinal.
I feel like I'm one of the few on the Internet who thought of a data stream or a flowing brook before urination the first time I heard that codename.
Well, "Wii" doesn't help very much, either.
The Stream is also known as the Wii 2, or the Wii Wii.
Am I the only European annoyed that a lot of titles are getting announced for Japan and the USA and we are getting nothing besides Zelda?(for 3DS).
I hope we start getting some titles and dates too.
Yeah it's annoying. And I seriously doubt the UK will get half of the JRPGs etc too. I guess we'll get Unlimited Cruise SP if we got the other recent OP games tho….hardly makes up for things tho.
I'll trade you my US 3DS (when I get it) for your EU one then, cause I'm wanting UCSP more than any other 3DS title announced. I hope we get it in the US, but doubt it. NB could make some cash if they do tho as the 3DS hardly has any games, so if UCSP is released this time there's a large chance people who never even heard of OP will buy it just so they have something to play on their shiny new piece of plastic.
Seriously, think of the amount of people who buy launch titles which they have zero interest in just so they have a game for the new console that just bought.

I'm with you buuhan. I really want that goddamn OP game.
The allure of an average game with a license attached is that great I guess.

Oh dont get me wrong I'm happy with the games I have, I have 120 hours on Samurai Warriors lol, I'm annoyed that I'm not seeing anything new coming for us though, ofc I want Zelda and the One Piece game but like Cyber Robin said, I want some Jrpgs and strategy games that have been announced to Japan and the USA and we don't know shit about it here.
Just because they haven't been announced for you guys yet doesn't mean you're not getting them. These games haven't even been released in Japan yet. I'm willing to bet a lot of releases will hit you guys within a year of their original release.
Well, Miyamoto did say he wanted to create a brand new "character" (or franchise) so maybe it'll be for a brand new RPG game…
The allure of an average game with a license attached is that great I guess.
Anime games tend to suck or just be average, I really don't get what the big deal is other than playing as your favorite series' characters. I guess Grand Battle was kind of fun but it truly was just another average game, nothing special about it.
I found Unlimited Cruise 1+2 to be a lot of fun myself. Never really got into most of the other One Piece games tho. Grand Battle 3 was pretty nifty.
Unlimited Cruise SP doesn't really have much extra to be honest for my liking tho. I probably will get eventually however.
Yeah, One Piece games have been alright, and the licence makes them worth it. Not great, but still definitely worth the buy.
But what I think we all really want is a One Piece fighter of Ultimate Ninja Storm quality, with stylish graphics and a good feel. Like playing a Naoki Tate episode, pretty much.
I notice that OP seems to have this strange loyalty to Nintendo in the past 5 years, and with the Cafe coming up, it would definitely be able to handle such a game.
You Europeans can be happy, you're getting Tales of the Abyss too: http://nintendoeverything.com/64185/
Goddamnit Buuhan get your ass over to the Osama thread
I was there, I sang "AMERIKA, FUCK YEAH!" to myself. Job's done.
Exclusive to Loading reveals a source close to Nintendo all the company's upcoming console.
On the 7th June, unveiling the world is waiting. Nintendo will unveil its new console at E3 in Los Angeles. But even now could Loading reveal one of the hottest - and most credible - rumors we have heard about the machine. This is all we got to know about Nintendo Feel.
Our source, who has a position close to the company, talks about the console in a conversation with Loading. We choose to present the information that we got it, untranslated and unedited.
- Nintendo Wants to change the way we play - again. The success of the Wii was proof Essentially thats the controller is everythin bit as important as graphical technology. When Nintendo unveils ITS next piece of hardware on June 7 th , the presentation Will Be as much about the feel, as the look, the ITS of new games. The revolutionary aspect goodwill once again ask the controller found in Itself.
After Touch will Feel
We have already heard that Nintendo will develop a controller with built-in screen. Since the information is leaked, it has drawn parallels to both Apple iPad and how Nintendo used the Game Boy Advance hand control to a few Gamecube games. But the new screen controller has another dimension - convey the sense of touch. Our source using the working title of Nintendo Feel .
- Haptic technology is a form of tactile feedback Used To Simulate the experience of touching Different objects best moments on screen. The player cannabis move Their fingertips across a surface and Clearly Feel the Difference Between Soft, smooth or rugged texture. Electronic companies across the World Have Been Conducting research in this field for years. It's Been That rumored Apple is close to patenting a similar technology, and we've seen the Toshiba demonstration of 'New Sensation UI Solution' That Applies a thin film over a screen in order to Achieve a haptic effect. In Nintendo's case, this is a natural progression of Both the Nintendo DS touch screen & the Wii technology.
Hardcore meets casual
After receiving information about Nintendo Feel from our source, we have been able to confirm that the technology exists. Toshiba demonstration seems to have been presented to the public and we have long had a Novint Falcon at the office. Novint was one of the first companies to seriously introduced the gaming world of haptic feedback.According to our source, work on the console going on for years, always with the goal of creating an equally direct and easily communicated concept that Wii.
- You Have to try Nintendo Feel to really understand. But the idea Itself is very easy to sell, no matter if You are Aiming for hardcore players or The Wider audience That was first introduced to games through the DS, Wii or Kinect.
And sure, anyone can imagine what the feeling of furry coat against the fingertips would make for Nintendogs. One need not be especially familiar with The Legend of Zelda for the understanding of the fantastic in order to draw patterns in the sand, feel the coolness from the river, burn on lava or perceiving structures of the bark of an old tree.
But at the same time, Nintendo Feel an experience you will not want to explain in words, but just put in the hands of the player. Which probably explains why Nintendo chose to have playable demos at E3, with in June, although the finished console not being launched until 2012.
Any vision of a
Nintendo Feel is in many ways a summary of all the grand visions Nintendo had in the past console generations. Even with the Rumble Pak for Nintendo 64 began giving the player physical feedback through the controls, and in 2006 introduced the concept of "Touch Generations" as a way to market the DS and Wii to a whole new audience. Whether we will see a "Feel Generations" campaign remains to be seen, but it is certain that the new console is an extension of the idea of more intuitive control. Also resurrects the concept of individual screens "Connectivity" which was launched during the GameCube / Game Boy Advance era, but never got the wide breakthrough Nintendo was hoping for. Our source avsöljar:
- Remember Vitality Sensor? It Will most likely be husband a comeback at this year's E3, though note as a peripheral for Wii, But as a key feature of the Nintendo Feel.

That sounds really cool. I can't wait to try it. I would've never thought of this to be honest. I have no idea how it even works :-/
It would be awesome if they'd have some to play at Gamescom this year.
Oh, and We Dare for Nintendo Feel? xD
Wow, that's really strange. It sounds cool in theory. I can't even imagine how it actually works, but it's another example of Nintendo technology that I'm curious enough about to invest my money in.
Haptic technology is kind of tough to truly understand without experiencing it first. I still don't really understand it. I played around with a haptic feedback device in a comp lit class a couple years ago. It was incredibly basic, but still really cool. You could see this floating cube on a computer screen and had this physical pen-like controller connected to the machine. Even though the cube was digital, I could feel it when I touched it with the pen. I could slide the pen along the cube and make it spin in place. You could build up enough momentum to make it spin by itself and when I tried to stop it by poking it in one spot, I could feel the cube resisting my force as it gradually slowed down. Like I said, I didn't really get how it worked and I'm not a tech guy, but it was really really interesting technology. I can't even imagine what Nintendo has in mind for applying it to an actual video game system. I'm pretty excited for this thing now.
Fuck, this system has too many damned names. Wii 2, Stream, Cafe, and now Feel? Honestly if that source is real, not only do we get Nintendo's date for E3 (the 7th, which is the first day of E3), we also get an explication of why the system has this supposed screen with touch and about to stream games to the controller.
I'm really interested as how Nintendo will make the gaming industry different again with this ability to "feel" the game and have the sense that you're actually touching it. I just want to see the console now and the games that will come to it, what's it's launch titles and later titles and other details like if Skyward Sword and Pikmin 3 going to it and how it will upscale wii games to 1080p.
Oh…um....wow. Dunno what to say XD It sounds interesting and all but I cannot possibly see how this could benefit games at all. (except maybe on a Nintendogs type thing. Oh joy I can see Ubisoft rushing out to make dozens of touchy feely pets.) I suppose Nintendo could find a way.
That look incredibly sketch. "The player cannabis move Their fingertips" lol…
also, in no way shape or form does that lend itself to hardcore gaming. AT ALL. It is by definition fluff, and I don't want to spend tons of money on a touchy-feely controller when all I really want is a PS3 with nintendo titles. I really don't see the point in this kind of stuff.

Hey man, don't knock it til you try it. Nintendo's not the type of company who's going to do things that will inflate their production cost unless they're fairly confident in the upgrade. I mean, you might be right, but for all you know it could be really cool and cost them less to implement than vibration technology. The controller will almost certainly be expensive, but the screen is likely still the biggest reason for it.

Yeah, the thing is, at the end of the day, I'm confident that Ninty will deliver. They always do, in my opinion. But for trying to recapture the hardcore market… this seems like the wrong way to do it. Which is why I don't trust this rumor. (now just watch me get completely floored by feeling up zoras at e3 lol)
I love how "hardcore" gamers would scoff at something like that, but will absolutely refuse to play any game that isn't in HD, despite the fact that the 2 both have basically the same purpose of increasing the appeal to the senses and having no real effect on gameplay
got my system today
Have no games for it yet.( too expensive) but i got DQIX and JUS and PK silver to play for now..
right now reading the manual and setting it up soon

Well to be fair controller prices seem to have gone up this generation so there's also that.

Not just the HD. Wii has the worst processing power compared to the other two, but it looks like the Cafe (or stream (or feel)) will better them both. And THAT'S what I care about. You just can't run a game like MvC3 on the wii.
and I challenge people to come up with viable ways to use a haptic touchpad. Like, I can't think of anything beyond nintendogs. or generic "chilling out with nature and feeling the bark and sand and stuff lol" that that article seems to think will be all the rage.

Every Nintendo fanboy that's never owned or played a 360/PS3 thinks the only benefit from having those consoles is playing in HD.

It depends on the genre.
Maybe there won't be much use when it comes to fighting or team-centric FPSs (but its still WAY too soon to call), but with Puzzle, RPGs, Simulation, ESPECIALLY Adventure games there are a lot of untapped ideas.
I wasn't referring to the 360 or PS3 at all. I'm referring to people I've seen online who specifically said they would play a game that wasn't HD anymore. Not a game that wasn't on the 360 or ps3, but specifically HD
Is there a release date for the update or is it still listed as Late May?

Once you see how good anything looks in HD, it's fucking hard to go back unless you frequently play the Wii or GC or PS2 or past-gen consoles to this day. Hell, I was playing F-ZERO GX the other day and the game looked bad on an HDTV, but a few seconds of playing around with the screen options made it look better.
Oh hey Nintendo whats up?
Wii Select? You're telling me that you're finally cutting the price on old Nintendo titles!
Well thanks guys, thanks for doing that one year before you release a new fricking console!:getlost:

lol. Out of them the Mario game doesn't exist in the UK. Smash Bros has been reduced for about a year or two. Only Twilight Princess manages to be expensive (probably due to it being a launch and not quite so easy to find.)
http://ca.kotaku.com/5797802/and-so-we-enter-the-wii-budget-age-with-the-arrival-of-wii-select
First-party Wii games finally actually being AFFORDABLE? Maybe Ocarina of Time 3DS won't be my first Zelda game afterall if Twilight Princess' used price goes to ~$15.
I might have mentioned I was considering trading in my Wii due to my super lack of playing it (had it since 2009, played it for like 30 hours) and that the successor was coming out soon… but I guess I'm keeping it. Gamestop is only giving $30 for it... So unless someone actually comes up to me and buys it for like $80-$100, then I keep it.

imagine a controller that is purely touch screen, besides two analog sticks and shoulder buttons.
that gives the developer teh freedom to make as many buttons and place them wherever they want.
what is the biggest fault to buttons on a touch screen? its purely flat and you can not feel when you push a button, or you can easily slide off the button and hit the wrong one ect.
This haptic touchpad will give the buttons a texture and the feeling of click and what not. That way you are able to stay on teh buttons and it feels right.
that is for hardcore games. you can't just think, ooh fuzzy controler for nintendogs. you have to think of other applications
No more hardcore gamers and developers saying "controller doesn't ahve enough buttons" or casual players being scared off by "too many buttons" Depending on teh game, the developer can give it 0 buttons, or give it 50 buttons. can make the buttons look like what they do. make them feel unique. ect.
but as i said before i feel the most important aspect will eb that it will gives the buttons on a touchscreen actual feeling and difference from around it, thus you will know when your on a button and not just randomly anywhere on the touch screen
I mean think of games on Ipad. THere are times my finger slides off or is off where it should be and thus screws me up. But if the object i'm supposed to be on has a sense of feeling, then i will be able to stay on it.
I think that I love you hinscher. I couldn't think of that, that's my biggest trouble with touch screens, are sight dependant. With this thing, you can simulate what you need, even a joypad.
well anyway, i just saw an article that has iwata saying how there will still be buttons
i'm just going to ignore this whole wii2 until e3 time. i just can't see how having a touch screen in the middle of say a gamecube controller will bring anything to the table besides picking plays in madden or attacks in pokemon, or having a mini menu open at all times ect. You know basically the dreamcast controller.
so i'm just going to wait and see what this really is.
edit: i just hope the new system plays blu rays, so i have another blu ray player.
So Nintendo's next console (let's just call it the Touch for now) will be in HD… but it will NOT feature a hard drive.
What the F?
I guess that's for costs.

meh i'm fine with a cheaper cost for no hard drive. hell i have a few hard drives laying around i am not using right now.
i get annoyed seeing 360 and ps3's many different models when its all just hard-drive size difference. and talk about overpricing hard drives. Its like, well give them an extra 60 gigs for $100. Its like "what?" ALso hard drives also tend to make developers have this rediculous INSTALL. I dont' want to buy a game and have a 5 gig install. what is this teh computer. hell lots of computer games have a 5 gig install and then NO CD required then. why the hell does this 5 gig install then only shorten load times by a second.
what is the biggest fault to buttons on a touch screen? its purely flat and you can not feel when you push a button, or you can easily slide off the button and hit the wrong one ect.
This. Nintendo (and gamers) love the feedback gained from pressing a physical button, there's no way Nintendo will release a controller with no buttons.

8GB internal storage (according to rumor) which is a massive jump from the Wii's 512mb. Here's hoping Nintendo will allow us to use an external hard drives.

did you not read the rest of my post.
this touchy feely tech makes it so that the touch screen in the spots you want FEEL like its a button or whateve ryou want it to feel like. Thus you would have the sense of pushing a phycial button, even though you aren't.
and i'm sure they will let us use external HD's, they let us use SD cards for the 3ds

Great post. I was really struggling to understand how this technology would truly be utilized, but this makes perfect sense. I'm pretty sold on this concept assuming it works well, now.
I'm still not comfortable with the wii-mote or the DS touch screen.
The future scares me.

I'll have to use it to accept it though.
