@GuetaMinute:
Personally, I think the game looks better than the recent shitty entries, and every time a Sonic game is announced everyone is quick to rush to this thread, bump it, and start the bitching and complaining and SONIC IS DEAD LOL THERES NO POINT WHY EVEN ANNOUNCE A NEW GAME BUT ANYWAYS LETS TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN AND DISCUSS HOW MUCH IT SUCKS AND HOW DEAD IT IS.
If you paid any attention you'd see that
a) we're all long time fans, who have plenty of good things to say
b) we hope and hope they do a good game and break the curse, or atleast show they have some idea of what they're doing
c) we have fairly constructive opinions on what they should and shouldn't do
d) even the few seconds the trailer show some of the recurring flaws we're too familiar with, like the fact they're doing the auto-rails thin tracks in 3-D again, which is one of the major things we dislike, so there's a reason for the annoyance
Wonder if you guys get tired of this.
Of course we get tired of it. We would love nothing more than for Sega to go "Hey look, we're so confident in this product, the first trailer we release is just going to be a solid 2 minutes of gameplay, showing off great level design, proper physics, and an understanding of what makes this work.
I would LOVE for that to happen, to be excited again.
Instead of teaser ads with half second clips intersperced with pre-rendered cgi designed to hide the missing of the point and the same-ness of it all.
And I know I'm gonna be massively flamed for this or something but I don't give a shit. Point is you people are way too pessimistic about the game, and Sonic in general. No shit it's a lot worse than it was 10-20 years ago, but is it too much to ask NOT to bitch so much about it? Most of you won't even buy it,, and hell, some of you MIGHT even like it (FUCKING CRAZY HUH?)
I dunno how you can say "no shit its a lot worse than it was" and then expect us to be happy about it. All we want is a game made as competently as they managed to make regularly 17 years ago on inferior hardware.
They couldn't even get Sonic 4 right, and there isn't even any 3-D in that one!
Again, the trailer already included auto-rail tracks, cluttered screenshots, and the usual oddball gimmick (two sonics!) that usually doesn't work out in their favor. And we've all been noting that we can't tell if they fixed the physics or not, but we're hopeful they did. Haven't even brought up pits of death, or psychic prediction full speed level layout, because we can't tell if thats there from the trailer either.
Its not our fault Sega's track record is against them and we've been burned a bunch of times. Even Sega themselves is aware of it and has pulled a bunch of their games from sale because they know they're horrible and tainting the product line! I kept buying games up through Unleashed, and hated that one and its massive myriad of flaws so much I swore that'd be the last time I'd buy blindly based on the name brand.
