Is it possible that Aokiji is part of CP9, and that is why he may be on the island?
I don't think so, Kiji is a marine officer, and CP9 is secret services…

arlong-park.net is like a treasure trove of information ;o)
Anyone notice that the only parents of Straw Hats we've seen are Usopp's and Robin's?
what about Bellmer? She's not the natural mother of Nami, but for sure we can count her in.
Wow this chapter is cool. I hope that guy on page 15 is Aokiji. Sauro the giant is cool, I think Robin got a hat that is similar to the giants.
Robin's mother is pretty.<3
Pretty sure this fits in the timeline…
Robin's mom and Sauro were both on Gol D. Roger's crew, either at the same or shortly after his capture they went on the run. Olvia was captured. Olvia's the one who translated the lost history for Roger, and One Piece is in fact the combined tablets of truth.
Edit: I read some more posts, Sauro could be associated in much the same way as Tom was with Roger, not as crew, but as an accessory, but I consider it more unlikely than a ship large enough for him to live on too. Why does no one quote Robin and Gon Fouru's lines at the end of the Skypeia arc?
GF: "D." "I see they have the same initial... Is that why they're (Luffy and Roger) so similar...?"
Robin: "Perhaps..." "Or perhaps the connection between them is another "lost history."..."
That's what the scanlation I have says in any case. Those who carry the "D" initial are a bit too varied to all be related. First Blackbeard (He's the fourth, but he's the most different, still similar), now a whole clan of giants.
Maybe Nico Olvia was Gol D. Roger's girl
Luffy might be descendent of the ancient race that built the ancient weapons
I keep my idea that the D's are descendents of the ancient race
And the giants are a branch of that family
Edit 2: The truth of the past the government doesn't want people to know about, and that they'll kill to cover up. It's gathered in a distant place, with numerous enemies and dangers in the way. One small crew is attempting to uncover it. Anyone else reminded of Serenity?
Edit 3: Why do you think Dragon is a revolutionary? He knows some or all of the truth.
I was thinking where Sauro got the laugh dereshi.
Dere (tere) in Japanese means embarrassed or shy or something along that line, and shishishishi part is … semi-normal way to laugh. (Didn't Luffy laugh like that at one time?)
So my conclusion: Sauro is shy and not good at laughing, so created this weird way of laughing.
???
ooshi translated: I’ve been told from a long time ago that my laugh is bad
his laugh is bad??
take it as you will, that's what it says.
ooshi78
It would be pretty damn weird if Sauro turned out to be the grandfather Aokiji owes a favor to, but I guess it kinda fits aside from the being a giant thing… here's hoping it's the guy Sauro was worrying about instead, if anybody.
Maybe somebody else already said the exact same thing, but as usual I only have the patience to skim through these threads.
I love Robin's face in that last panel.
interesting theory..
when I first read that Sauro had D in his name I thought that maybe he put it in his name because he was part of Roger's crew but then I read he says "everyone in my family has the name D" so that must mean his parents gave him the D, or his parents are Ds themselves, which make me wonder, is D a reference to the D in Gol D Roger's name or is his name in refernece to another famous D. That Gold Roger wasn't the original 'D' as it were.
First the mandatory "Good chapter".
A few thoughts:
Cover story: I can't see what all the fuss is about. Unless those chains are extremely heavy, Bon, could propably use it to bash Hinas face in.
The page 15 Man: I doubt it's Aokiji, but like Ivotas said: until we hear the sound, we can't be sure. But to me it just looks like a man walking in shallow water; it rises around his (unseen!) foot as he steps, and drops of water are hanging in the air. If it was Kiji freezing the ocean, I don't think it'd have that effect.
CP 9: I'm pretty positive that Spandine is Spandams father; this takes place 12 years before his W7 appearance, and just compare Spandines face to Spandams' in frame 3 of this page:
http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceMangav-3/volume37.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=7155
Random Thought #1: Sauros face reminds me of Blueno…
Random Thought #2: When I saw Robin on the last page, I thought she was...soiling the rock...
ooshi translated: Iâ€ve been told from a long time ago that my laugh is bad
his laugh is bad??
More of… He's not good at laughing.
Aww, Robin looks so cute/happy in that one square near the end. ^o^ That'w the first time we see her smile that big.
This is turning out to be interesting. I can't wait for the next chapter already.
Thx for the chapter and trans
So Dereshi is a form of laugh, really a weird one
This chapter really clears up some doubts , Poneglyphs reveal the blank history, it's made illegal by WG 800 years ago , 'D' is just a family name after all , Giants dont come from Elubafu /Erbaf only, CP9 was around for more than 20 yrs
It's nice to see Robin's cute side, more smiles and laughs from Robin in the next chapter I think
Olvia's really a pirate, no surprise why Robin became one, she really followed her mother's footsteps
Olvia's really a pirate, no surprise why Robin became one, she really followed her mother's footsteps
you can't assume that. she's just "wanted". it can be for anything.
ooshi78
I don't think Olvia was a pirate, more that see became wanted becuase she was looking into the lost history.
i really wonder why the research on the lost history is forbidden. it's pretty clear the world government has some bad backstory.
i think the world government was once like the Empire and killed a lot of people for no particular reason other than power. and now they want to hide that past. gold roger may have known it and was waiting for a "chosen" to stop the world government supremacy. that should be what crocus was thinking about when luffy left "he may be the one we've been waiting.
maybe even crocus is a D. wouldn't he fit well?
@The:
Random Thought #1: Sauros face reminds me of Blueno…
Right with you on that one. One of a number of faces I thought looked pretty familiar.
So this is much is certain.
Olvia was recently captured.
Soon afterwards, a Navy ship arrives.
CP9 is apparently already on route to Ohara by this point.
Not long after these three events, a Buster Call is issued.
As far as the person who goes ashore, I'm not so sure that it's Aokiji. That doesn't look like an iced over sea to me, more of a dramatic effect. I get a bad feeling from that Navy ship; something seems off about it. If it was a high ranking official going ashore, then where are the Marines watching them go? I don't get a Marine vibe from that person anyway, they seem to be wearing a cloak instead of any type of uniform. It's possible it's a clandestine operation, but the Navy vessel obviously stuck around long enough to be noticed by the locals, which would undermine their plan. Besides, CP9 is already on its way there.
I almost wonder if it's Olvia after she's killed everyone in the crew of the ship that captured her. After discovering this as well as the forbidden research, Spandine will use the Navy ship's Golden Phone Snail to summon a Buster Call, which may well be why Spandam wants so badly to do this.
Also, considering that Spandam was head of CP5 only a few years after this, I lean towards Spandine actually being Spandam's older, more competent brother that he was jealous of.
Well let's see….I think Sauro is part of gold roger's crew, I think they might have forced Olvia to tell them about Ohara......what else....It COULD be Ao Kiji I suppose and...well...that's it. I'll expect a little more meat in the next chapter.
Haha, nice chapter. Oda fed us a huge load today, but I think the tastiest bit is that "D," is a family name. I think that entails all whom bear "D," are related. =D

Please do not thake the following comment as anything more than playful ribbing:
No shit, sherlock.

that's something else that shouldn't be assumed.
everyone in his family linage has "d". which doesnt' mean that other families can't also have "d". there may be two or more families that have "d".
ooshi78
My thoughts on the "Don't Sauro" thing.
Its quite possible that the CP9 pulls some crap on the Ohara archeologists and Robin is very hurt by it.
Sauro then proceeds to help his friend out but ultimately only manages to piss off the marines even more.
Very likely that he takes the last hit while trying to protect Robin.
Anyone notice that we can see 8 members of CP9 on the ship. 8 seems to be a constant apparently.
It definitely could be Aokiji. He always operates alone without telling head quater :P
that's something else that shouldn't be assumed.

That's possible, but the bulk of the D. that we have seen so far have either been directly related, have a physical resemblance, or act just like each other. Sauro is the wild card so far, but even he reminds me of Luffy in a way.
I wonder which of those planets/moons in the library is Pluton and which is Poseidon.
My thoughts on the "Don't Sauro" thing.
…
Very likely that he takes the last hit while trying to protect Robin.
Which makes it possible that she did indeed destroy those Navy warships at this point as Robin would be superpissed if Sauro is killed saving her.
I am so happy to see this chapter. ^_^ That seemed like the longest wait ever. Thank you for the translation, ooshi.
Well, I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. I just can't wait until next week. It's really exciting to see all these mysteries finally unraveling to an extent.
I'm going to guess that the panel in the previous chapter where Robin was saying "Sauro, noo!" was her seeing Sauro being killed, probably trying to save Robin's life.
Whoever it was on pg. 15, it doesn't look like ice to me. But then, maybe Aokiji didn't have DF ability yet. I just don't see any reason to believe it's Aokiji yet. But it seems like we will see him here at some point, because of what we know from the chapter where the stawhats encounter Aokiji.
Sauro then proceeds to help his friend out but ultimately only manages to piss off the marines even more.
Very likely that he takes the last hit while trying to protect Robin.
You're probably right, though I think perhaps Sauro was the one who got Robin off Ohara before the Marines lit it up.
@391:
Voice: Fire!!!
Robin: No, Sauro!!!
=(
I read the chapter again and that guy in the water is really tall. Aokiji almost for sure.
This "void in the history" is really intriguing. Makes you wonder why the Gorosei want to keep it a secret. This reminds me of an italian comic book called Martin Mystere. In that comic there is a secret organization called "The Men in Black" (not the Men in Black with Will Smith, these Men in Black were introduced waaay before those in the Marvel comic/movie) whose only purpose is to stop anyone from discovering the mysteries of the world (i.e. Atlantis, Jesus Christ, the Templars, Marcus Aurelius, Dante Alighieri, Mu, Orpheus…). I think that the true history and the Porneglyphs are Oda's means to criticize the subjectivity of national historians (and other people) when they adress certain periods in history so they can makeover them and make them fit their ideological means. For example:
I could go on and on. What I'm trying to say is, Oda is probably very aware of this problem, so he's trying to warn people and make them aware of it. Whatever happened during those 100 years, you can bet it was nothing good.
Forget about Naruto. Forget about Bleach. Forget about Dragonball. One Piece is the best Shonen manga ever.
I don't know whether this has been discussed. Can anyone please help me to find the actual '100 years of lost history'. Any idea on this time period????
Sauro maybe puts Robin on the raft that we see him build in this chapter and then goes off to defend the people against the buster call. Robin gets pissed off that Sauro is killed and she goes into super-hyper crazy pissed off mode and destorys all the marine ships, which then leads to her bounty.
So THIS is how Robin knew about CP9 (and was scared shitless by that encounter with Blueno in town) interesting.
I really like Sauro so far. He's pretty awesome. Spandain looks pretty sweet too.
The Marine COULD be Ao Kiji. He has a long coat and is approaching the town alone, so he must be a very important (and possibly powerful) person. I wonder how old he'll be…
good chapter got some thoughts on it
seems that a lot of people have been killed trying to find the lost history of the world and robins mom maybe the next on that list also Olivia is a splitting image of robin makes me wonder if the father had any genetic or parental input at all:molly:
Sauro is already growing on me with that strange laugh and it seems that the giants don't get along at all.there might be two or more island's filled with giants feuding over which one is better as sauro seems to think of the giants on elbaf as barbarians.
the cloaked figure on the island could be ao kiji but I doubt it with the water not being frozen and if it is robins mother then she must have a devil fruit to be able to walk on water.
Anyway good chapter and i cant wait for the next one that comes out next week right?

That's a pretty good theory, especially Sauro putting her on the raft. I don't know if Sauro is the one that destroyed all the ships though, but maybe.
@Cap'n:
I wonder how old he'll be…
Was wondering about that too. Though If that is indeed kiji, I'm more curious to know exactly how old he is when they encountered him on Longring Longland?
Initially, I was thinking early to mid 30s back @ 319, but given the time period of the flashback, I'm thinking maybe he's in his early to mid 40s?
A thought accord to me, what if the guy on page 15 is one of the other 3 admirals of the marines. Robin knew who there were too.
@Green:

For example:
- the fact that most of the people that signed the Declaration of Independence and the fist american president, George Washington were slave owners
- the slaughtering of the nobles during the French Revolution
- the war crimes of the Allies during World War II (the bombing of Dresden, the rampage of Berlin, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Russian prison camps in Germany at the end of the war...)
- the Japanese slaughtering of chinese and korean citizens during the Japan-China war and World War II
I could go on and on. What I'm trying to say is, Oda is probably very aware of this problem, so he's trying to warn people and make them aware of it. Whatever happened during those 100 years, you can bet it was nothing good..
Well I agree with you there, on the whole, about there being nothing good in the hidden hundred years, I've got no choice but to point a few things out about your main argument…
1: I don't know anybody who doesn't know George Washington owned slaves.
2: Japan and America (along with places like Denmark) have got GOLDEN human rights records compared to, say, Germany or France. France, for example, JUST FINISHED a near civil war thanks to it's unnoficcial segreagation policies towards muslims. Human rights wise, the US and Japan are practically saints.
A thought accord to me, what if the guy on page 15 is one of the other 3 admirals of the marines. Robin knew who there were too.
Well, back in the Longring arc Aokiji says he arrested Robin once, so that at some point in the last twenty years Robin has been arrested by him and I think that when he did, he decided to take her to a WG building were she came accross the other two admirals, I still think that there was the possibility that Aokiji took Robin to Enies Lobby but somehow managed to escape, which would explain why she gave in to the WG so easily, because she knew she could escape again.
Ao Kiji was my initial thought too. That's not so far from the trick he does with the bike. The panel with a leg would be a tad off if it wouldn't hold some relevance - at least the guy, or the gal, has a deformed leg or some really fancy pants, if he has pants on, that is (this is still a big mystery, can't say a way or another yet).
Anyway, since everybody seem doing these and I'm a monkey, my "prediction": Roger's crew just got attacked by the World Government, Sauro was a member. Olvia was a member too but she was captured, hence the sealed fate. Sauro drifted to the island. The World Government needs Olvia's daughter, Robin, and they send Ao Kiji. Once Sauro learns Robin's last name he feels an obligation to protect a daughter of his crew mate. And then big things happens, Ao Kiji, CP9, Sauro is Luffy's grandpa and Buster Call and blah blah bang bang bang.

France, for example, JUST FINISHED a near civil war thanks to it's unnoficcial segreagation policies towards muslims. Human rights wise, the US and Japan are practically saints.
Japan? JAPAN?
The US has an appalling history, but we pretty much own up to it and have actively made steps towards correcting it. Japan pretty much pretends that many of their most grievous human rights violations never even happened regardless of what anybody else says, which is why the Chinese are so pissed off at them as of late.
just….I'm so damn happy there's a chapter next week.... enjoy it while it lasts.....we're about to enter the "Blank Holidays".>=(
Awesome chapter….
Robin was a cute kid, reminds me of my niece...
And the CP9 back then look totally awesome as well.
Thanks a lot for the trans ooshi. It makes a lot more sense now. :adore:
Robins statement "what do you fight for? You who care the name of D." back in Alabasta appears now in a completely new light for me after this chapter.
And though we have no clue that there´s something to it, I´m 100% sure that Nico Olivia is the one that deciphered the Skypiea Poneglyph for Roger.
Very awesome chapter. But what must I hear? During the holidays, no new chapters? Aww, that sucks!! It´s a pain in the ass time of the year all by itself and now it´s even responsible for not giving us our weekly dosage of OP. Shit!
@omae:
just….I'm so damn happy there's a chapter next week.... enjoy it while it lasts.....we're about to enter the "Blank Holidays".>=(
So when does this 'blank' period begin and end? I can remember most of January being totally dead at the start of this year.
Clover: Since the ban on Poneglyph researching 800 years ago…
800 years ago: the fall of Shandora? This looks too similar to be just a coincidence...Oda could have put any random number, but he put 800...after all, there was a Poneglyph in Shandora...damn I'm just enthralled by this chapter.
Ocean & others: That Porn Glyph talk made me ROFLMAO, literally. You guys are too much...nearly died laughing.
"Robin! Don't peek into Clover's Porne Glyph research material!"
Thanks to those of you who didn't feel obligated to say "wow, it's Aokiji!"
And Spandine….I dunno if he's related to Spandam (they both had a slight resemblance to Franky), but I don't think it could be his father. He doesn't look too old, and Spandam had to be at least 15 around that time.
