Looking into the coverage over at Toonzone, it sure seems that this is it for SymBionic Titan. Lots of angry fanboys…
Also, Super Hero Squad not showing up makes sense. CN didn't want to be airing a Disney product.

I will be extremely disappointed if they don't continue with SymBionic Titan. It is such a great show. Sometimes I feel like some shows get the short end of the stick because they aren't as marketable for merchandise as other. Then again, this show might just be too expensive to produce. It all comes down to money in the end. Sadly.
If Titan is indeed done for, then it's the first casualty of Adult Swim moving to 9PM since that forced it out of its Friday slot on an action block to a Wednesday timeslot before a bunch of shows that it had absolutely nothing in common with. I liked the show, but I always forgot when it was on since I avoid CN like the live action plague that it is on Wednesday nights.
Every single one of their hit shows has taken a pretty big hit from being shifted an hour earlier (half a ratings point or better in some cases), but Titan is the first show to actually be done in by it if it is indeed cancelled.
You know…
I might try this.
In terms of just the visuals, it does look pretty neat: http://www.toonzone.net/blog/blogs/290/future-spotlight-ii-the-amazing-world-of-gumball/
Not sure if I like the idea of that CG, live action, 2D mix.
But I do honestly think it doesn't seem actually look bad anyways, with that big combination of the three. The 2D illustrations are kind of cute?
Guess I'll give it a fair shot. I think it might deserve one.
looks pretty interesting. i might watch it.
Green lantern is getting his own animated series that probably won't suck. Nothing else matters.
^That's the number one thing I'm excited about AAAAAAAAAAH. Plus it's away from earth SO IT'S ALL SPACE AND THE CORPS AND FLKSDJLFKD.
they really like dude what would happen for it to stay this long. Well the thunder cats is going to be nice to watch. But i'm seeing all these shows and saying how the hell you gonna fit that on a schedule.
@RPG:

Easy.
After getting rid of old good programming, half of them are going to be cancelled after 2 weeks.
One random show from the lineup will end up airing 6 episodes daily 7 days a week.
(There was a period where Total Drama Island was aired like… nonstop. And Naruto before that...)
Unfortunately, it seems that Titan is really cancelled…according to this list, Sym-bionic Titan isn't listed among the returning shows. Maybe they just haven't include it yet, but really, all the signs are pointing towards cancellation at this point. Which is of course a crying shame, I just hope they managed to squeeze in a good finale before it all ends. I think I read somewhere that while its rating is still barely acceptable, its lack of merchandising and toys is what leads to it getting the axe. I really hate business sometimes…

So….why hasn't cartoon network showed any commercials showing awesome Symbionic Titan merchandise then?
Seeing the end of Titan like that was…pathetic. It actually was a good show developing it's story and doing stuff...but of course it isn't part of the modern 'EXSTREEEEEEEEEEEME' crowd CN is trying to get alongside their AS audience that wants nothing but Seth McFarlane.
there obviously wasnt enough spongebob influence for the show to last

No wonder the creative ones who made the network are going elsewhere…heck I heard nothing but good of the My Little Pony series on The Hub by the McCrackens...and meanwhile Nick isn''t looking that good considering that no matter what else they try gets cancelled while a long-stale sponge stays around because fans are braindead.
@Tokoro:

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is, in all honesty, awesome. The first two episodes are kinda like a magical girl series, and then it goes more episodic.
What the hell? Titan is getting axed now? (I need to find some confirmation)
Double what the hells? Why did the move it's time slot AGAIN? It didn't air on Wednesday (a commercial aired 30 seconds before 7PM saying a new one would be on at 7PM, no Titan aired that day), now it looks like they're airing it on Saturdays…
Still no Samurai Jack movie makes me think the the chances of anything awesome happening to save this show are slim if the network decided to be counter productive again.

Well, it seems like it's been a while since we've gotten a big batch of live action shows to take up hours of network time, and I've gotten comfortable with Cartoon Network having mostly cartoons for a good bit now so I figure they're going to hit that point sooner or later.
@Saturn:

What do you mean? I don't think anything outside of PPG had any real marketing machine power specific to the show itself. All cartoons are promotional vehicles for other products.
SBT's demographic is kids, tweens and teens. Maybe even parents, 45-60. If it's getting shares of freaky 18-25 year olds (cartoon buffs) I can imagine CN wanting to kill it. They could be airing a show that markets to the appropriate demographic in its place.
It's hard to market to "our" demographic…I mean, who are they going to curry the favour of? Axe Body Spray and Oil of Olay? I can't imagine any of those companies taking Cartoon Network seriously.

This sounds like Invader Zim all over again: we're getting the wrong demo, let's kill it instead of acknowledging it as a cult hit. CN should have realized by now that everyone from "that era" (Tartakofsky, McCracken, Hartman and…(massive sigh because he hates to admit it but it's true)...McFarlane) seems to skew towards multiple demographics and make shows for all ages, which is sort of what CN wanted when they first started out close to 20 years ago. Once upon a time they wanted a network for cartoons, now they just want a kids network that happens to show cartoons...then again that's the typical evolution of a cable network the last few decades, going from one mission to something broader and stupider.
@vyse&homunculus: Sort of figured since that's how PPG and Fosters go. I may need to check it out...but may have to do so online since my apartment doesn't have Hub. (though mom and sis watch it more at home due to their reruns of Happy Days and the 60s Batman)
Maybe if they had actually MADE toys for ST, they would have sold them

I haven't seen a good toy in years, barring certain CGI films. Even the $15 recast of the MMPR Megazord, while suitable for nostalgic purposes, is a lot smaller and less durable/poseable than the one that cost $15 in 1994.

You can't market to a cult. It's not cost-effective, and since corporations MUST have a profit motive, they are totally willing and completely justified to axe art in favour of more money. I remember reading on this forum a while back when someone posted an essay on why "channels" are becoming a lot more uniform to cater to demographics instead of themes like fantasty/sci-fi/history. It really makes good business sense, I can hardly blame the networks…
...except for the glaring problem of them being souless and antipathic. Artists enjoy other people's art, comedians enjoy other's comedy. So why does it seem like the people in charge of executive decisions for cable are completely insulated from their own programming? One would think that if they have a sense for what people like, they might be able to see influences beyond straight numbers.
I don't like being fed by robots...
Lord, they're planning on having another Hall of Game Awards next year?

What makes you say that? Snyder said it performed marvelously, but I would think that was just for show since it's obvious it did horribly.
The announcement of the 2012 Hame of Shame Awards was buried towards the end of the upfront announcements yesterday.
And, "performed marvelously" is apparently code for "did as well or slightly worse in the ratings than our normal Friday lineup despite six months of hype".

Add in "cost a hell of a lot more" with all the guest stars and advertisements as well as everything else in between.

It may not make business sense but sometimes having a cult hit is enough to help build respectability instead of just being a souless organization…which is what a lot of the executives are now. I get why they do what they do, but unfortunately they can't just keep going on and on trying to chase ratings all the time. Sure it makes sense to chase ratings but sometimes you have to acknowledge those who don't care about your profits and ratings and all that bullcrap. Networks really need to figure out how to balance between missions and trying to satisfy their bottom line but unfortunately that will never happen. Maybe I guess it's better to be more "concept based" at first and I get why networks change but that sorts of tarnishes their reputation. (see MTV evolving from a music video station to one more driven by the antics of dummies on the Jersey Shore...and yet they continue to claim their innovation when they haven't been innovative for a couple decades now)
What the hell? When did episode 18 of Sym-Bionic Titan air, in the early Saturday morning death slot? I hate how they intentionally try to make the ratings for a good show fail so that have an excuse to cancel it.
edit

Since it's a merchandise driven franchise, hasbro hasn't bothered to pull any of the episodes from the internet yet. You can even find it un-water marked (none of the stupid commercials at the bottom of the screen while the show is on) episodes on just about any streaming site that has it since they become available on iTunes or something a week after it airs.

The shift to a Saturday timeslot had to have been a rather late programming decision since they were airing ads for a new Wednesday episode on Wednesday. Some people reported even seeing ads for it after 6PM that day. It probably wasn't made that day, but came late enough that they didn't have time to make new ads. Then again, it might have been made a while ago and they didn't care.
well its after pokemon so there might be a small jump on the ratings.I lovethe show but its finishing the run on a reasonable time.Unlike YuYU hakuso at 5:30.still didn't see all the three kings saga
I saw the nextest episode of regular show on monday… And apparently the writing and animating team recently watched Scott Pilgrim.
Problem Solverz (TOON)
- 1.138 million viewers
- 0.8/1 HH
- 0.1/0 A18-49
- 0.8/3 T12-17
- 1.8/6 K2-11
Well, Problem Solverz tanked on arrival (Sym-Bionic Titan and Robotomy both managed 1.7 million on their premieres and both are now gone; even Unnatural History managed 1.3 million). What's your next move, Cartoon Network? How about a show that isn't ugly as sin?
How did that show even get the go ahead? Just looking at 4 or 5 seconds of the commercials gives away that its going to be terrible.
@RobbyBevard:

My guess: Same as the reason they try to keep live action shows. It's cheap to make.

Smart move. I actually stuck around for the whole thing out of morbid curiosity.
It like a kick to the nads following Regular Show.

Remember 6oz Mouse? apparently CN did when they greenlit that bullshit show.

My situation exactly! I didn't want to pre-judge the show like I almost did with Regular Show (glad I gave it a chance!) but by the end of it I was waiting for it all to go away forever! the only remotely clever thing in it was the Tuxedo Dog, and even then I swear I've seen it's face before.
Smart move. I actually stuck around for the whole thing out of morbid curiosity.

It lost about 300K of The Regular Show's audience, which is damned impressive for a 15 minute show. People must have instantly went elsewhere.

It did well on Adult Swim as an weird as all fuck nonsensical stoner show called Neon Knome, which aired a pilot in a voter-driven new show event before Cartoon Network decided it was perfect for them. I actually enjoyed that pilot for what it was, but attempting to incorporate a plot was a terrible idea. Problem Solverz is pretty worthless.
I expected a second Regular Show episode after the new one (like they did last week), but no. I got "Problem Solverz". It looks like someone was trying to recreate some kind of drug trip. I changed the channel almost instantly, still upset that there wasn't a second Regular Show.
Interesting news for the 3DS owners out there…
http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/impressions/25592
Until They announce Finn & Jake as playable characters, I ain't interested!
No playable Ed, Edd, and/or Eddy? I am disappoint. They could have "ripped off" Pokemon Trainer from Brawl for the three of them, switching in and out with each other. Eddy would be the small, quick, hit-and-run-attacks one, Edd would be the mid-sized one with ranged attacks, and Ed would be the big and strong tank.
Even so the roster is still impressive (I would say Johnny bravo is the biggest missed oppourtunity here) and if you go to their facebook page they are taking suggestions and replying to comments so voice your opinion's there. The 3DS version is done but they are still working on the WII AND PS3 versions whcih are supposed to have a larger cast so maybe you can get some people added. I just want sequels, sequels upon sequels upon sequels. Dbz this shit.
Wait a minute, there's going to be a Wii and PS3 version? Sweet.
I'm liking the game so far, except for the lack of Ed, Edd n Eddy, Cow and Chicken, Space Ghost, Juniper Lee, and Courage.
Also, Powerpuff Girls as 3 separate characters is a waste. Make one set of moves, 3 different skins/audio clips and have the player choose "powerpuff girl" and select which one they want. Opens up 2 slots for Johnny Bravo, Megas XLR or FINN AND JAKE!
What the fuck is Captain Planet doing there?
First cover looks kind of crappy. Like those ancient schockwave games on NC's site.
And yay for continued non effort on finishing things like Samurai Jack :(
What the fuck is Captain Planet doing there?
Probably nostalgia on the part of the people making the game.
Fuck Captain Planet and give me Captain Caveman.
Even so… What the fuck is Captain Planet doing there? That show is only nostalgic as an example of a shitty trend of preachy shows that we find hilarious in retrospect for their bad quality. They might as well have brought in the Sealab crew... If they wanted to go for nostalgic Hanna-Barbera, why not choose someone like Johnny Quest?
