I dunno if I could do a full re-read since the series started to go downhill for me. But I never did watch the anime. Is it complete or worth a watch in general?

It's missing a few arcs but the arc it ended on did feel like an final arc of sorts. That and the last two arcs start off with semi interesting premises and then jump off the deep end at some point.
Has a lot of filler arcs during the future arc where they somehow manage to not be in the future (which kind of defeats the purpose?)
-
Filler arcs that weren't exactly filler arcs.
-
Every time I see this thread get bumped—even all these years later—I somehow get concerned.

after re reading it I've got to say, man I really hate the slice of life arc, I liked the Mukuro arc a bit but the Varia arc was fun as hell, definitely the high point in the series
and I may be in the minority here but I really enjoyed most of the future arc, but that definitely should have been the final arc
and I could care less about the simion arc, not a fan of the arcobleno arc, and the end was awful
what I did like about the series:
Tsuna's main weapon the X gloves, love those and all the updates, it just felt like a cool and unique weapon and it was fun to see Him fly around
Love all his techniques the X- Burner, Zero point revised and the freezing ability
I love Yamamoto's sword style all of it, the using water as a defensive shield or to make a reflection out of it to confuse enemies etc. I love the idea of a sword style that changes with each disciple, each passes on there own version to their disciples who then passs on there own to theirs and etc etc, and as I said before I love the four sword style he uses against Genkshi, I love the Ariel combat in this series (I also loves Xanxus guns that allow him to fly around)
Everything with Mukuro was great, the illusion fights, giving chrome organs with illusions, and being able to posses her when he was in a high security prision on the other side of the world
I know Hibari is pretty generic but for some reason I loved everything about him, the "I'll bite you to death" and the "only the weak crowd together" etc. I also loved how Mukuro used the sakura trees to beat him in the Mukuro arc, and even after being weakened and beaten he still kicked Mukuros flunkies asses and then Mukuro himself
I hated Hibari's vongola box (the handcuffs) but loved his vongola gear, tonfas should always be his main weapon
I like Ryohei, but I always love boxing characters lol
I love the varia guys and all the different fights in the tournament (seriously the only reason I reread this series)Byankurn's powers were really cool, the being in contact with every other parallel universe is really cool, and why his men could easily defeat anyone except the vongola boxes (because he's seen all there techniques in other uiniverses except vongola boxes which only exist in one universe) and I like how his power got awakened
I love how the mcguffins from the varia arc actually became huge to the development and fighting styles in the future arcs
and hell I pretty much love what the rings can do, that each has it's own ability and each person has a different role as a guardianNow what I dislike
The entire first 63 chapters
AND LONGCHAMP!!! I HATE HIM!!!!
and frig it I hate Lambo too
I l don't like how chrome became a constant damsel in distress
I don't like how tsuna never develops as a character and as goes back to being whiny and weak
I Don't like Yamamoto's Vongola gear or Hibari's vongola box
I don't like how they got a bullshit power up that let tsuna beat byankurn when he clearly should have lost
I don't like how they got a bullshit power up to beat Simon guys
I don't like how the simon guys just appeared out of nowhere and were somehow way stronger than tsunas group,
seriously the power scaling makes no sense in this series
the ending sucks
The animal boxes, it made it like pokemon fights, stupid
they built up the six funeral wreaths and then they just get defeated by Ghost, and they vaguely hint at them all having insane powers that made them gods in other universes, like daisy being a person who can't die…. and then decided to skip that on everyone else and just give them a dinosaur boxes in there chest (lame)
theres literally hundreds of sky rings, but only seven Earth rings WTF
Tsunas dad being mega powerful out of nowhere? seriously if he can Tank Tsuna who's many times stronger than he was when he beat byankurn why the hell did byankurn become such a big threat?
Demon spade having everyone's ability
and I'm Tired so I'll think of more later -
Your review of the series reminds me of how much I don't remember of this series lol.

I forgot most of it too until I reread it lol

Damn I really can't remember any actual plot or much of the characters from this series.
-I remember loving Yamamoto but always end up getting disappointed. His personality was great tho.
-I'm not exactly sure what I tought of dynamite guy. I remember feeling you had to choose between him and Yamamoto and choosing Yamamoto. But he had a great fight in the Xansus arc that I totally forget but am sure I felt was awesome.
-I remember the painful slog of that manga being mostly a slice of life. My god I 'm not even sure how I got through such a painful process. I've never hated slice of life so much in my life -Probably thanks to friend telling me it gets better.
-I remember the running joke with the crying kid that could gain 10 years with a bazooka and his 10 years in the future self was better. Kind of funny gag. And one we saw the one 20 years in the future and looked badass. Was it ever used on someone else?
-I remember this manga pushing the whole parallel thing waaaay to far where everyone in Tsuna life was basically the copy of the first Vongola famila and he was basically the copy of the Vongola. God I hated the constant reminder from the baby
-I remember growing annoyed of the illusions power. By the end those "illusions" were doing waaay to much stuff to be illusions.
-xansus was cool
-enemies just popped up from nowhere and barely any build up
-I remember catching up just a week or a couple of day before the last chapter.
-Fuuuuuck the ending. We went right back to the first chapter and that's awful. At the very least have the baby respect Tsuna decision and leave.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Future arcl
Was Tsuna dead in the future? I seem to remember at the end of the arc dynamite guy is close to his casket or tombstone but I feel it might have been a fakeout and we hear or something.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Trying to read some wiki stuff it seems that manga had waay to many convoluted plot threads. Like parallel universes and stuff.

What was Kaoru's Earth Flame?

When Tsuna went to the future he woke up in a coffin and future Gokudera said he had died but then when the met with irie he told them that tsuna from the future was actually alive and that it was his plan to bring there younger selves to the future to fight
@KageKageKing:What was Kaoru's Earth Flame?
We never found out unfortunately, he was beaten by demon spade before we could find out what his flame was, and he never got the chance to fight again and show us

Mmm didn't mind the Daily Life arc, I mean it was suppose to be kind of a comedy really and a lot of it made me laugh (still love the one where Kyoko got hit by accident and practically became a terminator and the school festival one as well), though I do understand why some would feel it drags, it is rather repetitive in some cases (Tsuna runs into a problem, Reborn hits him with a dying bullet, Tsuna gain courage and loses his clothes, learns lesson, rise rinse repeat). If anything when they shifted to action it was a bit jarring, guess ratings were going down and it was the only way the author could save it.
-
That said, first serious arc was okay, you can tell the author was still testing the waters here. But the fights were entertaining (up till the final fight, there were no power ups yet, so everyone was working on their on ingenuity) and I do like the fact that Tsuna ultimately had to stand on his own two feet in the end despite the desperate situation. Got a nice send off to the Dying Bullet too.
-
Xanus Arc: Definitely the crowning arc of the series. Had some great villains, good tension, great fights and a nice use of all the characters involved. Really only thing that irked me was that last minute BS with the Varia and the rings. Yeah ultimately the power of the rings ended up saving the day. But was that necessary? Tsuna pretty much beat the guy and showed off a new power up. You'd think by that point they just cut their losses. But meh whatever.
-
Future Arc: Only really liked the first half, past the hideout raid part, it just drags. The Choice section was utterly pointless only to allow Yamamoto to avenge his previous loss and to defeat one of the Funeral Wreaths. The fights afterwards felt so scattershot cause it jumps around so much, by the time of the final battle between Tsuna and Byakuran I just wanted it to end already. This was also when they started going a bit overboard on power ups. Boxes that had animal buddies that granted more abilities, so much to keep up with. Just yeesh. I'm not surprised the anime ended here because by this point things weren't as interesting as before. Oh yeah, and lest we forget they had to put an anime only filler in the middle of this too @_@. I appreciate the backstory and all but the arc was bloated enough as it was.
-
Simon Arc: Eh decent, like a low-key Varia arc. Villains were interesting and I liked the contrast between them and the Vogola counterparts. Though their motive for betrayal was pretty silly. You'd think they get all the facts before assuming things. No, let's just attack on a whim than ask questions. I do like that by this point the heroes were seasoned enough to be right on par with their opponents from the outset. However I did have to tilt by head when the final final villain showed up, seemed rather out of the blue but hey a better finale than the previous one. Also nice to have an arc where Lambo isn't useless.
-
Rainbow Rings Arc: I…don't even remember much of this one. Something about a competition with watches. Then Reborn's an adult then he isn't and this guy who made the rings comes out and they're trying to stop him I think, just meh so confusing. Most I really liked was the whole mix and match pairing of previous villains with the heroes but that was it. The way they wrap it up is just so...odd. I still don't know what all that was about. Ending wasn't any better, basically pulled a "Ranma 1/2": status quo is back and hero still hasn't decided but the adventure will continue just not past this point. Bah.
Overall I really only read up to the Varia arc and just stop there. It's as good as ending for the series because going forward is just pretty mediocre at best.

Notable things I remember from the series:
- Dude with Tonfas, bird, and Kamikorosu (I'll kill you to death) catchline was awesome and had a great tune in the anime.
- Gokudera was cool.
- Xanxus had a lion. Lions are cool.
- The Genjutsu guy and the genjutsu girl were cool, and a nice foil to eachother. Liked their powers/personality.
- Byakuya was a very engaging bishounen type god-figure villain, and made the future arc watcheable. He reminds me of Clear from Gashbell, mixed with a bit of DIO flashiness (especially with how all he has all these subordinates despite being nigh-invincible). I thought he was cool.
- Tsuna never getting with the girl irked me to no end. Make a move already you idiot.
- Calm-mode tsuna with the whole female voice ai (?) who could make super flamey powers happen was really well done in the anime, and always got you hyped. Especially because of his theme song.
- The anime's music in general was incredible. I mentioned bird guy and tsuna having awesome music, but so did Byakuya and most of the characters. Really recognisable too. Made the series way better.
- Iirc the animation for many scenes was very good - but the pacing was utterly awful.
-
The first "arc", when it was 100% gag manga, made me believe this was going to be my favorite JUMP manga ever. That comedy was SO good! Then it turned into a shonen manga and I remember thinking it was a really generic one. Dropped it at some point due to complete lack of interest and never felt like going back to it.
