And again, seeing as she actualy very well could challenge these things, why Hiro never has her learn any spells I don't understand.
non-primary magic among guild members is disappointingly rare in general. the only instance i can recall off the top of my head is Luxus using Fairy Law.
I don't get why you guys have this obsession anyway. It's the same as Zoro always fighting the swordsman of the villain team.
I don't have a problem with it, but Zoro actively seeks out the swordsman within the opponents that the Strawhats are facing, unlike with Lucy she stumbles upon a summoner and ends up, always, gaining a key as a reward for defeating the opponent. From what I can remember there hasn't been any keys that were against the idea of joining Lucy, they went over in an instant after their master was defeated.
The point is 'Lucy fights another summoner' became true, she fought a summoner. Capricorn may have had his body taken over by Zoledo but it was still a fight.
From what i understood, "Lucy fights another summoner" can become true only when it's a 1 on 1 : the character's main combat in the arc which is against Kain.
Going by what you said if the main villain of an arc was a summoner and everyone had to fight him (which won't happen of course), we'll also count it.

Also I wanted to write "channel" instead of "challenge" , because that's a bit of a diferent meaning but yeah.
Hell, you'd think S class mages would have knowing and using basic spell casting as a recquirement.
And the exam itself so far doesn't seem to have suported this at all.

Well you make a very good point but the groups were split on the island as well as the enemy, and Lucy just so happened to stumble upon Capricorn…the summoner.
She's a magnet to these things. In your example it would be a little more petty to fill out the check mark though.
You convinced me, i ignored the fact that both enemies were split and as always the enemy's summoner had to face Lucy and co.
If no one minds :
[ ]"We need to send out an elite team of badasses! Eh, I guess Lucy, Natsu, Erza, Gray and Happy will do, instead of any of our other 40 unique guild members."
This arc has promise.
[ ]Gerard appears.
[x]Surprise Dragon Slayer
[x]Lucy fights another summoner
[ ]Erza handicaps herself so she can't solo the big bad
[ ]Maybe we should send Gajeel in as surprise backup and have him be awesome.
[x]Lucy gets naked/someone rips Lucy's shirt off
[x]"the "enemy" has become an "ally/friend"
[ ]Surprise last boss
[x]Manly tears
[ ]"This arc blows, I hope the next one is better. Maybe the end can save it."
[x]Natsu wins by deus ex machina 1 time only powerup. (needs to be confirmed i believe)
[ ]"The last arc was kind of lame. I hope the next one is better."
[ ]Arc ends, restart from #1.
But hey, if she does something against Kain, it'd be a big change.

Doesn't Mest count as a Gerard anyway? (Bishie with ulterior motives) @Crossword:

It's one thing for an author to give sword battles every arc and quite another for an author to follow the exact same formula of plot twists of his previous arc to the letter. You can compare it to Bleach's Soul Society and Hueco Mundo if you want.
You guys are just trying too hard now. Loki independently fighting another spirit who happens to summon humans does not indirectly mean Lucy has fought another summoner, and there was no surprise dragon or even god-slayer, he was making a joke. And I still don't think we can call Natsu's victory a 1-time powerup yet.
But I'm not going to pretend that I care what you guys check off on this list you've made, just pointing out you guys are trying really hard to fill it :P lol

Lol, no. This has nothing much to do with Loki. Lucy actually fought Capricorn alongside Loki remember?
Unless she just stood around and took the hits without an ounce of retaliation.
That is all.
That was before Caprico revealed what his powers were. I wouldn't even call this a proper fight since its not just Lucy who is fighting so it would still be invalid.
Zancrow uses god flames which is more powerful then Natsu's dragon slayer so hes not even a dragon slayer.

Zancrow uses Hades flames. Also every other "Dragonslayer" got his magic from a stupid crystal so the dragon part stopped being relevant a while ago.
A: Zancrow ate fire. That's a pretty Dragonslayery thing to do.
B: The list is for fun.

Yes, Fake Dragon slayers got their abilities from lachryma crystals but before Luxus started getting scales to signify he was a dragon slayer we couldn't just call him a lightning dragon slayer.
I didn't see Zancrow grow any scales when he ate an element like the other DS. so he wouldn't be a dragon slayer. Hes just a fire mage.

"Lucy fights another summoner". Capricorn is a summoner. Lucy fights Capricorn. Check.
Who summons humans if I'm not mistaken. Is there something wrong about a Celestial Spirit being a summoner besides Hiro not bothering to explain where these humans sprout from or are stored?

By this logic I suppose you're right, if you can even call it a fight. This is a huuuuuge stretch here but alright I at least see what you're saying now :P lol
I know you guys are just having fun with it, I just thought some of these things were a big stretch to try and make work. Personally I enjoy you all doing this so please don't let me discourage you, lol
Hey guys I don't hate Fairy Tail like most other people do, probably because it was one of the first manga I read when I was getting into manga so I didn't notice how unbelievably generic it was at first.
Anyways, I would like to see a detailed list of flaws in the series and why it shouldn't be read by anyone unless they want to read a bad manga. Because as I think about and analyze Fairy Tail it is pretty crappy, the only real story arc you could say was "good" was the Phantom Lord arc that was the only arc that was somewhat well written and cool.
Then Jeral showed up and I kind of stopped caring and my reading has been disjointed ever since. I'm not even reading any more I've decided to focus on good manga like Berserk, Toriko, Bakuman and Negima.
It seems unfair to ask for people to give lists of Fairy Tails flaws without providing one or two of my own so I'll give one. The one that seemed the most prominent to me was Lucy defeating powerful enemies like Bixlow, Angel and a few others which were horribly contrived. She's supposed to be quite weak because she doesn't have enough magical power to make the Stellar Spirits access their full power so Mashima just comes up with bullshit methods for her to win against her enemies.
It seems like it would be much easier just to give her more magical power so the Stellar Spirits could actually fight the enemies, but no let's let her win with "strategies". It also doesn't help that Lucy is pretty bland, she's basically just fanservice and little else.
Now I'd like to hear some other flaws like some people have said the story is really bad and I didn't really notice it being that bad at first, so I'd like some insight.

She's physically weak, and a little ditzy, but Lucy is by no means a weak mage. Where did you get the impression she was low on magic power?
In these pages, to defend Loke, she summons all the spirits she currently has at once. That would've killed a weaker mage, and Loke comments on this.
On an unrelated note, I've decided the main reason people want to criticize a series (any series) is because they intentionally look for the faults and don't "read" the series. They find one element they hate and focus so intently on the element, they can't ever enjoy the series again due to their "bias". Sure, these Mangas have their flaws. What piece of literature doesn't? I hated parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because a good chunk of the book/movie was them walking around, doing nothing relevant to the plot. Does it mean I hate the series as a whole? Absolutely not, I enjoy it and I still enjoyed Deathly Hollows as a whole, too.
This may fall on deaf ears, but… I've said my peace.

Why the hell haven't I noticed before how incredibly awesome you are!?!
As to why Fairy Tail is bad, it's because it is scum soup.
It literally takes out everything innovative and creative about a shonen manga leaving only a shallow plot with highly formulaic writing to the point you can make a check-list of the arc. The characters are just hollow archetypes and the woman especially are terrible, bland clones of each other except Erza who constantly gets gimped at every turn. It's like One Piece if you took out everything good about it. Like the scum of a rich, delicious soup. Hence scum soup.
You know there was this huge earthquake and tsunami in japan, that killed more than 10,000 people, just a week ago? So can't you just wait a week longer for your crappy manga?

I agree (I should be able to post a comment that's only a letter and a word)

Not at all actually. Seeing you keep asking when the next chapter will be out, while it should be quite obvoius now, that Weekly Shonen Magazine is taking a break due to that tsunami really freaked me out. I'm sorry if I came off too rude.
I know, but since Mangastream usually has the new Fairy Tail chapters around Sunday, and they didn't have it yesterday, you could assume it's on break right?

Shounen Magazine 16 is the one we got two weeks ago. The last Fairy Tail we read was in Shounen Mag 16.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but generally whenever we get Weekly Shounen Jump or Weekly Shounen Magazine releases, we're receiving it EARLIER than it goes to press in Japan, so we're ahead by a week. There was a delay on WSM 16, but I haven't seen anything to suggest one for this week, too.
Last week was Shounen Magazine 17. This is the Shounen Mag we'll be looking at this week. Unless that was delayed too, we should be getting Fairy Tail soon.
…And Kain is defeated. gg Fairy Tail. facepalm
To be clearer: in other words, WSM16 had the last Fairy Tail we read, but it didn't come out until Weds, the 16th in Japan (or a day or so after, as the article states). WSM17 will have the next Fairy Tail, but it won't come out until the 23rd in Japan. WSM18 will have the Fairy Tail after that, but it won't come out until the 30th there. Every time we see scans pop up on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday for Fairy Tail, Ippo, or Negima, we're seeing them half a week before they hit the stands in Japan.
Most people don't know that. I don't know how many other manga scans it's true for, but it's at least true for Jump (which releases on Mondays) and WSM (which releases on Wednesdays), which is why there was that big shitfest over Mangastream followers tweeting Kubo congratulations over reaching his 400th chapter or whatever it was almost a full week before that issue went to press in Japan.
