Omnichild, you are the best mom in the world ___
General Cosplay Thread
-
-
@Coralsnake: Actually we do have Ponyo planned! I just forgot to add that to the list!
@Kitsch: aaaawww <3 thanks. She also thinks I am the best mom.
-
OMG OMNI I will die of cuteness. Then, your Hubby can be Fujimoto and you the mother… DAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I keep joking with my sis that because of her funky hair right now, she could cosplay Sosuke... you know, since your daughter is like our height, it should work. jk xDD but yes... I am so EXCITED FOR OTAKON NOW ;u; I was worried cause I was afraid we'd be such a bore but I have hope now xDDD
-
hahahaha no no! You guys won't be a bore at all. We will have the most awesome and most retarded room ever! It will be a blast.
-
I'm almost done with my Luffy Oyabun costume, so I conned my friend into doing more OP cosplay with me. So now I'm doing Ivankov from the Chapter 587 cover page as seen here and she's going to do Dragon. :3
-
I'm planning on doing a Magellan cosplay for Sakuracon, but I'm trouble wondering what to do regarding the hat. Any tips?
-
Mmm you might look and see if you can find a small child's Police costume hat or a doll hat. If you can find a Police costume that's made for toddlers, that would probably be a good size. If it's black then all you need to do is remove the fake badge and replace it with an Impel Down badge. That's what I'll do with Shiryuu's hat.
I got Sabo's hat today. It's not supa perfect, but it's oversized (I ordered it because all teh reviews were like, this hat is too big and I have a giant mellon). It'll fit good with the wig and it has the oversized look to it like Sabo's hat does upon his head. I think this will work great and look really nice when I get the goggles on it.
-
Haha, Reya, do you live in WA? We should meet up at Sakuracon at some point. If you're Magellan I'm sure you won't be too hard to find. :P
-
Anyone cosplaying OP at Fanime? I'm going to wear Shakky there! Hopefully I'll find someone to do Silvers Rayleigh with me. :P (Gosh I wish there were an easy way to 'seek' specific cosplays for specific cons…)
-
@Neoqueen kinda like a matchmaker.com but for cosplay? That…would actually be kinda awesome.
-
wow, I missed the plus size cosplay thread I see. I know that poster was going about it wrong, but I kinda liked the idea of gathering cosplay ideas for different body types. Of coarse you can cosplay whoever you want. half my cosplays are guys. hell, who's gonna cosplay chopper. he's a dear for crying out loud.
At the same time, it's fun to dress up as someone you actually look like. Half the reason I cosplayed as maggie byrde is because I look so damn much like her. XD I had a blast. why should larger people be left out in having that kind of fun. It's hard to come up with characters that are not string beans. And who wouldn't have fun being Totoro!
I know it's a sensitive subject, but I don't think it should be brushed off entirely.
Edit: scrolled above: who would you rather see cosplay blackbeard; me, or that awesome dude in the picture at the top of the page. He just makes the costume!
-
Speaking of Blackbeard, I can't wait to get my bf to cosplay him u The coat pattern came in, so I can start taking measurements soon =3
-
oh, so you've convinced him to do it? has he watched any OP?
-
He's seen a little here and there. He knows who Blackbeard is XD. Actually, he watched one of the latest ones with me where Devon appears. I still plan on having him be Blueno too, need to get him to watch more Water 7.
-
"if he wants to be part of our cool geeky group, he has to watch one piece. in fact, i demand it!" XD
what a nice guy. dressing up for characters for his gf.
-
Lol you should totally cosplay Blackbeard, Lisa :P Go for it XDDDD
I want to sob forever because I won't have Shiryuu for A-Kon. If I get a job soon I will make that my priority for AFest >_> So you better force him to wear Blackbeard again for Afest LOL.
-
ROFL! Or we can save BB pirates for AFest. Who knows.
Anyway, I had a general question for anyone who would know. Where is the best place to buy decent colored contacts online? Non-prescription if its cheaper. I can deal with not wearing my glasses for a bit if I have to. Looking for a pair of blue ones =3
-
you have glasses? you still have seta ginny's contact info? she had special contacts for her Ryuk cosplay. (death note)
@arei: N.o!
XD
-
I'm kinda wary of the non prescription ones, the prescription ones are usually made to a higher standard, and all those horror stories of people getting their corneas scratched with the bad ones @_@
There was a thread on TMCC about this, I'll go find it again because it did have a non-prescription site.
One of my friends who gets non-prescription ones for cons usually deals with them disintegrating quickly, and one place she got contacts from, they didn't even last a day.
And yes Lisa, do itttttt.
-
Ah, ok. Well then I guess I can look into getting some prescription contacts. I need to go to the optometrist soon anyway.
-
If you are okay with circle lenses, I've used those many times with no issues. I actually get the prescription ones to match my glasses prescription. If you are worried at all about horror stories etc, I wouldn't recommend them just for your own sanity. I personally enjoy and use them often. Other thing of note, is that it's hard to find them without enlargement of the pupils so if you don't want that extra girly/anime eye look I also wouldn't suggest them.
-
I really wan to get some clear ones as that would probably be more effective for Shiryuu (and blue ones for America wouldn't hurt either XD), but I have perfect vision and have never stuck anything in my eye so I am petrified I'm gonna get some that mess up my eye @_@ I get a free eye exam covered by insurance so sometime I'll do that and get a prescription to try some nicer contacts… but I'm so nervous XD
-
I would definitely take advantage of that free eye exam then! Usually they will give you free samples as well which I really appreciate.
Good luck whenever you get to it :3
-
oh no, don't buy non-prescription contacts. Very bad for your eyes. Even if you don't get them in your eye power, you want them to at least fit your eyes.
Coastal Contacts sells prescription contacts in powered and nonpowered.
-
Awesome, thanks!
-
Eeeeeeeee~ Interview at laaaast~ Here is hoping. If I get hired, then I can definitely get Shiryuu done by AFest.
Sabo work is getting done, I may get him done for All-con by the skin of my teeth if I am able to scrounge up the cash for goggles next week >> Should be able to >> Hopefully.
-
Yay Arei! Good luck on the interview! Hope you get to finish your stuff as planned.
-
I got the job, but of course they won't do anything else til they get the precious drug test back >> I just realized the convention is NEXT weekend and not the following week LOL. But I have a feeling that I will be doing my orientation stuff this time next week, so I'm not really going to stress about the convention. That and I have to go to court over that stupid stuuuupid ticket Wednsday, that is really getting me down, i don't feel like stressing @@ (whats worse is I cant find my sheet of paper that told me the time it was supposed to be, fuuuuuuuuuuu-)
-
I'm planning on doing timeskip Luffy, and was wondering if anyone has tips or know of any sites that may help with doing the scar on the chest? I have no idea how I would go about doing that :/
-
Where are you doing TS Luffy at?
And you can just google latex scar tutorials and will get a bunch of fx makeup tutorials.
Otherwise I could just be unlazy and post you a few links. If you ask nicely….
-
Going to Acen in Rosemont, IL at TS Luffy. My plan for the scar as of now is to have my friend's neighbor do it, but not sure how much it cost and if she might end up being busy. She does a lot of FX stuff as a job or side job.
Backup plan is to have a friend do it just in case my friend's neighbor isn't able to. Looking for something not too complicated. A lot of the scar tutorials I seem to find are bloody scars sadly :( I would super appreciate it if you could post a tutorial for a scar similar to Luffy's :D Pretty please
-
I'll post some links in a little bit (I need to go wash some dishes.)
But if you are going to be at ACen and the one girl can't do your scars and your friend doesn't think they can do it, I can do it for you. Granted I am not busy with panels or whathaveyou's. I'm doing some fx makeup for another friend, and I know how to do scars.
And honestly with the bloody scar tutorials, you would just not do the blood.
Um…if you want, I can try to make a scar prosthetic for your chest as I am making a face prosthetic for my friend anyway. It will be good practice. XD
Anyway, I'll post some links later.
-
Omni will be at Acen too :P I wish I could come this year I am depressed foreverrrr ;A; Next year, totally (sorry A-Kon, you have nothing on the awesomeness of Acen)
-
hahaha well I kinda implied that I was going to be there in my last post. XD But yes, I will be at ACen.
Fum's Blog is a great place for various fx tutorials. So just look through there!
-
i seen a closet cosplay luffy that was pretty good. they drew a scar on a fleshy colored shirt. guess depends how far you wanna take the cosplay. but for drawing it on a t-shirt, it looked pretty damn good.
I have no idea what i'm doing for cons and cosplays this year. @_@ My friends totally missed the 2 week window for getting an art table at anime north. stupid sucky planners for artist allys
-
honestly, most cons are 100x better than A-Kon. I know Otakon is. It's better than I can even describe u I am SO looking forward to seeing special effects make up.
However, A-Kon will sadly be the first con I can get to this year, even though sis and I can't make it the whole weekend. Thinking about cosplay, already feeling pressure and the thrill of making stuff u
-
Well for someone who can't afford to spend money to go to cons in other states, I like A-kon just fine. Believe me, I wish I could… The Houston cons are ok, I haven't been to any recently. I enjoy our other local cons too, Anime Fest and Yule Con. While it is small, Yule Con is always a ton of fun!
-
luckily you live in a state that has awesome anime cons. If I was limited to only instate cons, I'd only ever get to go to one convention a year, and it'd be Tokyo in Tulsa, a nice little con where in probably 2 hours, you've done all there is to do, even though it's a 3 day con.
Also, I think Animefest is a BILLION times more fun than a-Kon and I'm SO SAD I can't go because of my job and you can't put off holidays at all ;___; Afest is probably the most fun convention in dallas. I think I'd have a better opinion of Yulecon if we'd been with someone else when we went the first year. It was horrible but I know now if my sis and I went, it'd be FAR more different and i'd be lots of fun n__n
-
You guys should go to Yule Con again, it really is fun! Again, it really does matter who you go with. It is not a big con, but I always enjoy myself.
I do love AFest, for the same reason, as long as I'm with fun people to hang out with. Sucks that you can't go though! ;_; (really wants to reprise CP9 with you guys~)
-
I was really gung-ho to finish Sabo for this weekend, but now all I can think about is getting my call to start work so I just, lost the desire. But now I'm sure I would not be starting this week and I could've hurried up and mostly finished Sabo for All-Con :/ Oh well, I'm not that depressed. Can start really putting energy into A-Kon stuff~
Kinda sad to miss the out of state stuff, but now i can plan for next year. Hopefully. If gas prices don't level off in the winter like they didnt last year, then blegh.
-

Thanks Coral. I actually had to make the shirt in less than four days and it was real difficult but a learning experience since the second thing I've ever made entirely out of scratch was Luffy's vest. I'm hoping to go to Animazement, Dragon COn and AWA since I live in the east side of America. Thanks again for the compliment. I also made expressions to make funny pictures.
!
-
oh dear got the expressions are my favorite part and I definitely admire and LOVE that you made that shirt u you're now like my favorite Luffy <3
-
LOL that last pic is priceless!! You make a great Luffy!
-
Ahahahha CKOanime, the expressions are priceless. Absolutely great idea.
-
Hahahaa I LOVE the expression eyes. That was a great idea, awesome XD

Thanks for the offer. I'm hoping to meet with my friend's neighbor this weekend and seeing what she says. I was just planning on doing something painted maybe, and didn't even think about anything like a prosthetic.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you do the scar? Also, awesome job on the shirt! I still need to figure out what I'm doing for my shirt. Thinking that I'll modify a red dress shirt, but I won't look too hard for anything until next weekend
-
Yeah I think the prosthetic shouldn't be too hard to make. It will only last about one or two uses for.
Good luck talking to the one girl about it. Hopefully she can do it, as she is probably better than me. XD
-
All-con is surprisingly fun! They have a steampunk theme this year. I was excited to run into Kim from Scuttlebutt u Did not expect her to be there, it doesn't seem like a big con. But I was glad to see her as well as a bunch of other friends. Going again tonight after work. We plan on reprising our Alice in Wonderland group, just because.
