I don't get all the love for the fights in Ippo. I suppose much is lost on me for not knowing the backstory and the build up but even so the possiblities are severely limited since they have to at least somewhat follow the rules of boxing and can't move very far or use their feet. It seems so underwhelming compared to the insane shit we usually get in anime like dbz, Kenshin, Op, Fairy tale, etc. Do you guys love them BECAUSE they are so grounded in realisim or what?

You can't give genuine appreciation for something you don't fully understand. The reason I like it is that it invoke strong sense of emotion and urge to root for the fighters involved. It may be limited to a ring fight, but the way they animate the scenes gives you the feeling that even though it is limited in a small square parameter, you are involved in something much more larger, that you are inside that very stadium, no that very ring cheering for your chosen fighter. Even with prior knowledge of the outcomes, you can't help it but be thrilled during the match.

And the announcer. Oh, the announcer.
Does the VA for the announcer get a throat sore after each episode. The guy is a beast!…A BEAST!
-
Silva and Zeno Zoldyck vs Kuroro Lucifer in Hunter X Hunter.

I really like the action in FMA. Especially Scar and Armstrong XD I mean…Scar spikes a guy like he's a football lol
It's not until about the middle of the episode, but it's a good episode anyway. Enjoy.
As for Armstrong…well it's Armstrong, He cries MANLY tears XDOh and the Fullmetal vs Flame fight. (Ed vs Roy) That was so awesome.

This post is deleted!

That was awesome…

Does anyone remember "The Boondocks Stinkmeaner Fight Scene" ??
Absolutely awesome..Which one? 1 and 3 were both pretty top notch. Also i have to say that almost every fight with Huey in the boondocks is amazing. Vs. Riley and Vs. Bushido brown are both great.

Time for this thread to be revived.
Now how about Zeppelli vs. WHAM from JJBA part 2. We all know
! zeppelli lost but damn was it a good fight.

2DQneTjoM3w&
Short and sweet, but still… a fitting final fight.
-
Ah I refuse to click on that video since I'm only 14 episodes completed of Bebop!
I don't know if Kuma vs the Strawhats counts as a fight, it's more like slaughter with how powerful Kuma is.
-
Ending fight of Sword of the Stranger, so good on bluray.

Ofcourse Zoro vs Mr.1

Ok that makes some sense then.

I really liked Sasuke vs Killer Bee, because of how awesome it looked.
As far as depth, and thought of the characters while the fight was happening, this fight loses some of it's rating. Still really awesome to watch.
Same thing goes for another one of my fav fights, Luffy Vs Blueno. Animation, and action are amazing, but lacks depth (which I will admit Luffy vs Lucci had, to make up for it)
As far as overall fights, based on animation, character development, ETC…. I gotta give it to...
Any of the Spike vs Vicious fights (from Cowboy Bebop) those were awesome
-
definitely Ichigo vs Aizen.…....... vs the Hyougko.........vs Urahara
-
Luffy vs Lucci was one of the best one-on-one anime fights, you would have to skip all the shit in between fight scenes but if you watch the scenes back-to-back that fight really kicks ass.
-
Several fights I can't count on the grounds that they are a slaughter not a fight. Depends on how you view shounen fights but there is a strong tendency for even opponents for it to be considered a real fight. At least balanced enough so there isn't a flat out white wash.
-
Ofcourse Zoro vs Mr.1

Please don't post bullshit amvs :getlost:
Below are the links for the fight without shite music spoiling it:
-
Super Gurren Lagann vs Anti-Spiral
-
definitely Ichigo vs Aizen.…....... vs the Hyougko.........vs Urahara
For all the build up and hype that was by far the lamest, most anti-climactic fight in manga history.
-
That was the worst fight in manga. It's my main reason for disliking Bleach. The heart was shite as was number zero but Urahara and Yoruichi getting one shotted like that was horrific.

Berserk:
Bleach:
Ichigo vs. Kenpachi
Ichigo vs. UlquiorraI'm agree with pretty much all of those except for the Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra fight. I was anticipating this fight for a while, and it really disappointed me. Ichigo at his strongest couldnt touch Ulquiorra in his first release, and then we get the "Oh-Shit-No-Fucking-Way" second release. Then, with an M. Night Shymalan like twist, Ichigo goes hollow form and deus ex machina rapes Ulquiorra. This was really when I started thinking Tite Kubo ran out of ideas.
If I had to give favorite fights to series, probably go like this.
One Piece: Luffy vs. Crocodile R3, Luffy vs. Lucci, Luffy vs. Eneru
Naruto: Neji vs. Kidoumaru, Jiraiya vs. Pain, Kakuzu & Hidan vs. Team Azuma + Kakashi, Killer Bee vs. Team Hawk

And them getting one shotted OFF PANEL made it worse.
And then there's butterflyzen….
-
Butterflyzen doesn't even compare, but I see what you are saying. Bear in mind I speak as a Yoruichi and Urahara fan, they are my favourite characters even above Kenpachi and Kenny is easily up in my top 3. As much as I liked Stark (he was my favourite espada aside from Grimmjow), I didn't mind how Shunsui was shown to be so broken. Then again Shunsui is easily in my top 5 characters so I cared more for him than Stark. Still better to have been beaten by a broken Shunsui than beaten offscreen by a hax character who didn't earn his hax power.
It should have went like this: Orihime destroying the Hyogyoku, and Bleach ending with Urahara vs Aizen both bankai, Aizen perhaps winning slightly but Urahara ultimately winning since he has hax kido as well as bankai. Maybe Yoruichi could have got involved as well, since it isn't uncommon in shounen more than one good guy vs one bad guy.
-
I happen to enjoy most of the fights mentioned here but for some reason, I really like the fights in the manga Crows. I mean nobody is pulling off anything special like energy attacks or transformations but I guess that's it. the fights are usually a brutal fist fight where usually, the one who hits hard and take nasty blows is gonna be the one who win in a fairly realistic setting.
I like the fight between Bouya Harumichi and Rindaman, since both are crazy tough fighters and it happens to be brutal for both of them. Actually, it's pretty hard to top that fight soon after in the series.
-
yusuke vs yom was a great fight even thogh it didn't turn out the way i wanted too

@RPG:

Yusuke vs. Jin was way better. The banter alone practically made it legendary.

3. Gaara vs. Rock Lee- The fight itself was pretty darn cool, I don't really read Naruto anymore, but I remember that fight being pretty sweet. I will probably have to reread this though because my memory on it has gotten pretty vague.
2. Luffy vs. Crocodile- While the fight itself was intense, the reason I liked it was because of the earlier fights. Luffy had been going from island to island defeating opponents with x amount of damage, and then when he decides to tackle a schichibukai he gets his ass handed to him, and shows him the true danger of being a pirate. This also set the tone of Luffy starting to have real challenges against his enemies.
1. Goku vs Piccolo Diamou- This fight had so much build up before that epic finish. The first fight with him he defeated Goku to the point that he mistook him for dead, not only that but he was only using half his power, and planned to use the dragonballs to get even stronger. Killing Krillin, Roshi, and Chiatzou then sealing their fate by killing Shenron. He survived the powerup using sheer willpower. We then get the dramatic ending of a battered and broken Goku mustering up all his strength into his arm to plow through Piccolo's body. Very great arc as a whole.

Mahou Sensei Negima: Negi vs. Chao
-
Takamara VS. bryan hawk

This will be an unpopular opinion, but I really, really loved the Pain vs. Jiraiya fight. Probably still the best thing in Naruto, in my opinion.
-
^ I liked Sasuke vs. Itachi better.
-
Shamo: Ryo VS Naoto Sugawara
My hands were getting sticky of sweat, I didn't dare to switch page, but I had to, the fight made me.

Mahou Sensei Negima: Negi vs. Chao
So I'm assuming you haven't reached Negi vs Rakan yet.
