princess for nakama ! (for being locked up and dreaming of adventures)
big sorry,i could not resist :D

big sorry**,i could not resist :D**
Neither could 30 other people.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't shaking hands while wearing gloves considered a sign of
betrayal in the Middle Ages? Now , I know it has to do with Decken's DF but still, this alliance doesn't seem so strong.
Vander Deckens "The pleasure's all mine" seems fishy to me. He's up to something :}
Well, he's the one who wants to marry the princess and have pleasure with her. :ninja:
I really wonder if this alliance of them is going to longer, I guess it's just like you say, Vander Decken will probably do something.
Ahh such a great chapter as always.
The interaction between luffy and the princess had me laughing.. Also the difference in the crews confidence level towards the end… Not forgetting Zoro :)
So I think it's agree'd that Van Der decken doesn't have a straw hat
okay im just gonna guess caribou will try to kidnap the princess. i know luffy will fight caribou. but who thinks vander decken will try to fight him too? just a wild guess
also the princess has her tail split in two so there is a chance she is over 30
@Badass:
Neither could 30 other people.
Correction - 31.
or is that 9001?
Similarly, now that Luffy is helping shirahoshi go on an adventure, damn the consequences, he'll of course be blamed for her kidnapping. The entire poseidon army is going to be mobilized to take down the strawhats, leaving them completely vulnerable to whatever scheme hodi and Vander are planning.
That sure makes it obvious that the SHs will be seen as enemies who teamed up with the Hodi\Decken alliance to distract the royal armee.
Iam still not sure if Vander Deckens curse is now a DF or not.
It sure seems like one with that ability, but he isnt effected by water, so it normally can
t be one.
Also it has similarities with Bon Chans fruit who also is activated by his hands, which vader Decken covers or else he would targed the one who touches him the next time.
But iam still staying with my "mermaids having legs with 30 and vander Deckens curse is somehow related to each other.
Seeing that this guy has 4 legs makes it for me more obvious without that i rly could point my finger to it.

It's not split, it's moving up and down.
(Snaps fingers) OF COURSE! GAH Why didn't I see that last part coming. Hordy wants to bring the Kingdom down, Vander Decken wants the Princess. Of course they would join forces! BLAST YOU ODA AND YOUR RED HERRINGS!
But yeah great chapter.
*We get a long overdue cover story. Wonder whose the main focus. Perhaps a bunch of unseen characters within the 2 years.
Man am getting so pumped. I complained about the speedy nature of the chapter last time but this is getting fun now. Stand by for next chapter!
It's things like Oda remembering not to let the Marines get a picture of Sanji's face, just so he can continue to be trolled, that I love about One Piece. It's a small detail, but I like it.
It's the same for me, it's one of my favorite running jokes.
Well I'm confused about why Van Der Decken is in half a bubble since he's a Fishman. If he has a DF ability the water should still be draining his strength because half his body is outside the bubble. Even the glove doesn't manage to cover up his wrist.
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/90932202/17
So I assume the strength draining effects of water works differently on a DF user who is a Fishman. After all water is a Fishman's niche. I don't think the glove was meant to block water so much as to make sure he didn't have physical contact with Hodi Jones. Maybe something to do with his curse.
i think its only going to drain him if his upper half is exposed water would have to go in his body for it to weaken him. as for his df i think its pretty cool i kind of doubted the point of a fishman with a devil fruit power. but oda did a really good job.
I think VDD is a siamese twin fishman also.. he has 2 pairs legs… and his protruding back is covered suspiciously, possibly another head
2 legs would be the norm for Fishman, even for all of them
So I'm thinking he's a aslo siamese twin fishman (or is it hydra for sea creatures?) who doesn't let others know, but we'll see
Van Decken is a pretty interesting character!-I think!
Well it's clear. If his head was exposed then he would lose the power and most likely just sink cuz he wont be able to swim but he wouldn't die cuz he can breath underwater.
It's not split, it's moving up and down.
oh man i fail. thanks for telling me that don't wanna be an idiot that doesnt know his one piece.

Holy Shit.
The ark in Hodi Jones base back drop is fucking gigantic.
How did it get done there? Could it possibly be one of the Ancient weapons? I think it's one of the more interesting aspects in this arc.
To really throw us for a loop, Van Der Dekken's glove could have "eaten" the fruit and by putting it on he really just screwed over Hodi…
I wonder if them defeating King Neptune's army = the destruction of FI.
Luffy is on good terms with the princess. However, that doesn't mean that he'd just bend over backwards and do whatever for. They attack he will defend he's shown this countless times before in throughout the series don't mess with his crew.
I'd also like to see how Van der decken and the princess meet. It seems as though he needs to touch people in order to activate his DF so who knows?
The only thing that's disappointing is the utter lack of sanji at all in this arc. However, that could lead to bigger things later on.
Madame Shirley is the reason why FI is going to be destoryed. If she didn't tell anyone about her prediction I doubt it would of came true. Since they're attacking the SH based on the prediction it makes it even worse.
Cariboo when are you going to rear your ugly head and cause some havok ?

But that would still leave us wondering what the bubble is for.

sorry can you elaborate i really want to here your idea it seems interesting

You know what a siamese twin (conjointed twins) is right? It happens in nature sometimes.
VDD can still be that type fishman and be this too
But I'm just speculating now
Not only 4 legs, but a protruding back (maybe a head) that's covered.
@romolis:

No need, the idea wont work because he can`t screw Hodi over with a devil fruit powered glove held underwater. The glove would (as any devil fruit user) loose its power.

i had to be evil for a second but i guess i dont even know why he has four legs. but chances are that will be explained later

Instead of Van Der Decken eating the Target Target fruit, the glove he put on on that last page could be the one with the real power. For Oda to avoid the whole Fishman DF user conflict, having the glove be the one who "ate" the DF would solve that problem and would be a nice twist in the Hoddi alliance because now Van Der Dekken has "marked him".
Then again that wouldn't explain why Van Der Dekken needed a bubble around him so, who knows plus the glove was in water, just a crazy theory anyway….
Decken and Hodi teaming up, awesome.
We're finally getting our fishman/merman/mermaid/fishwoman with the power of a devil's fruit! Target-Target huh… that's gonna be an interesting one.
Loving Decken's design as well.

oh so you mean like when spandam's sword ate the elephant devil fruit. i was lost there for a second but that is a great theory
a fishman with a devil fruit .now what do you nay sayers say

Had to fanart it, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun~

I love your coloring style so much, this is amazing.
Because the Japanese name for the shark he is based on is nekozame (cat-shark).
Yeah, I see that now. Thanks.
Also, I agree with everyone that says Decken nor Hodi feel like arc villains. Minor villains sure, but not arc villains. Heck, Decken seems like a nice guy.
I wonder if them defeating King Neptune's army = the destruction of FI.

Why lack of Sanji. He had more screentime than any other SH beside Luffy. Don't worrs he will come back and will kick either Caribou's or Decken's ass
So much love for Ussop right now. So anxious to see who the real villain and how long it will be before the "Candy" factory is destroyed upsetting the person who really can destroy the entire place.

When you see him talking to hodi he is inside a bubble, so yes, he's obviously affected by water. I think Oda didn't draw the bubble on the first panels maybe his ship is coated or most likely because he didn't want to ruin his own surprise of the axe making a 180 turn due to a DF
Right now everyone is enemy of the SH except for the Mermaid princess! This gives us a lot of possibilities for who will fight who. I think the most interesting way would be something like this:
!
But just like happens in every arc, Oda will totally suprise me, I hope.
I expect Decken to get jealous if he finds out Luffy is taking a walk with the princess.
Ah everyone got really strong :)
Does anyone else find it odd that after 10 years of lusting after the Mermaid Princess and hating Neptune that Der Dekken picks now to all of a sudden team up with Hoddie, or am I missing something

He hasn't even been mentioned since they left Madame Shirley's place.

I think more likely he's wearing the glove because whatever he touches will go towards his "target", since he wasn't wearing gloves when throwing the axe.

The pills are probably a recent development and for a while WB and Jinbei likely deterred any baddies from making big moves on FI. The coincidence is that the SH made it to FI just as the two decide to join forces. Definitely would have made more sense for FI to be in disarray before the SH got there.
That one minister has a monocle. Therefore he is corrupt/evil.

Of course Oda surprises you, your predictions are God awful.
Van Der Dekken doesn't really seem like a bad guy.
I mean he is more of a romantic stalker. He drew roses on the axe for pete's sake.
Favorite quote of the chapter:
Princess: "A pirate, does that mean you are a bad person?"
Luffy: "I don't know, that is for you to decide."

On the first page of this chapter you can see a small bubble on the upper left panel on the ship. Assuming that the bubble was also there when we first saw him, but didn't see it because he was in a silhouette, that would effectively solve the DF-user in the water problem.
He hasn't even been mentioned since they left Madame Shirley's place.
Sanji's absence always has a point to it. Recall Little Garden, where the whole time I was wondering how stupid it was that Sanji was not helping in any way, only for the whole thing to make sense later with the whole Mr. Prince thing.
Same with Water 7, while everyone had their eyes on Iceburg and CP9, Sanji was smart enough to wait at the station and then get into the puffing tom.
Does anyone else find it odd that after 10 years of lusting after the Mermaid Princess and hating Neptune that Der Dekken picks now to all of a sudden team up with Hoddie, or am I missing something
This happens every arc every Island that the strawhats come by. Nami finishing her 100 mil beri/Wapol returning as the king/ Enel about to finish off Skypea etc.
Well maybe not every arc but it's common in Oda's writing to put the SH crew smack in the middle of a huge commotion.

hmm, I see that now, thanks for pointing it out. so VDD ship is coated after all.
Sanji's originally intention was to drink tea, not to be Mr. Prince.
HAHAHAHAHA
What about Enies Lobby when Sanji later disappeared? He sure does that often. But it does play into the story later.
