Didn't Zed become a gag character?
-
Mr. Mxyzptlk. Gotta love a villain who's only goal in life is to fuck with their hero. He's more Loki than Loki ever was in Marvel's universe.
Of course the Mighty Monarch has a place in my heart as well.
Ah! How could I forget Mr. Mxyzptlk?
He's awesome, too.
On topic. I found this list by IGN which lists the top 100 comic book supervillains according to them.
The Joker is Number 2. He lost out to
[hide] Magneto [/hide]
which kinda surprised me. I kinda thought Joker had that number one spot guaranteed, especially after The Dark Knight. Here's the full list:
http://comics.ign.com/top-100-villains/index.html -
From the Disney Villains:
Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
From Batman's Rouges Gallery:
Jervis Tetch (The Mad Hatter)
From Spiderman's Rouges Gallery:
Mysterio (Quentin Beck)
From Horror Films:
Freddy Kruger (The Nightmare on Elm Street Series)

It all started when he got married to Rita which was due to parents complaining about their children having nightmares about him. They used that to tone him down a bit. Then in Zeo, he is dethrowned and forced to live with Rita's father and later a mobile home. Though, to his credit, he defeated the machine empire. He next made a cameo in the Turbo movie… and shown at the beginning of Space alongside other villains, and later just disappeared till he was made good at the end of Space.

Favorite Manga/Anime Villain of all Time:
Respect, Bitches.
And Freiza was #2.
-
Of those listed? Joker.
Red Hulk's another good one. -
I never got the appeal of Catwoman…I mean that Ign list just named her one of the top villains when she's not even a villain. Now I know a man dressing up as Bat to beat up criminals is kinda ridiculous(in thought) but a woman burgular using a cat motif to steal? that's kinda dumb. I think she's personifies that 'seductive feline female' perception common in 1940's noir detective movies . I mean I'm not completely sure how Nolan can make her believable in his world(in costume). I think its because of her good portrayals in other media that make her memorable, particularly Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt;aside from that she isn't all that memorable. I did somewhat like her in that title Loeb did a while back, aside from that she wasn't never much a villain to begin with.
Catwoman is name alone is synonymous with stupid. Its kinda funny when you say her name over again, Catwoman. I just can't take her seriously, honestly.
Oh and Ign blows I don't care about their opinion.

The Demon Xavier.

Wow… That's derailment on another level.

The Monarch should have been on Ign's list.
-
Why does anyone care what IGN puts in its lists anymore.
-
-
The Monarch shouldn't be on my list.

@Badass:
What about Hugo Strange?
What about Mad Hatter?
I now I mention him as "bald chestnut head H" due folks having such a gripe with me mentioning the guy. He's one of my faves, but he ain't the best villain out there he dosen't have many great stories as the one listed though he more than Catwoman though…
-
What about Mad Hatter?
I never said the Mad Hatter was my favorite supervillain. Nor did I ever mention him in anything except for one post when I agreed with Satsuki in the Batman thread.
Lol, like I mention him in every post. The Mad Hatter is not Swinub.
-
Neither is the 'bald chestnut head'. He's one of them, but many others beat him.
Oh come on, aside from me mentioning 'him' a few times in the Dark Knight Rises thread and this one. I haven't mentioned him at all. The only reason I mentioned him in that thread is because he fits the story where it as at now.
-
Can anyone who reads Batman explain this to me?
!
-
'Boner' was used in a lot of comics around that time, and wasn't usually seen in a sexualised sense. In that context it means - like a 'blunder' or mistake. Basically The Joker wants Batman to make a fool of himself. But looking through some of the panels, it's obvious the writer was going for cheap 'Hurr I said Boner, laugh' shots.
Still hilarious though.
-
my favorite is harvey dent. put that up.
-
Okay, I'll just surpass how the forum works and create a poll with more than 15 slots first.

or you could get rid of some of the clearly inferior ones…
lol jk man. i went with joker.
-
Deadpool :ninja:
But seriously:
Ozymandias, Bane, Galactus, Sabretooth. -
Now that i think about it, alot of my favorite villains are actually Batman villains.
Of course, as I mentioned, Joker and Riddler are probably my two favourites. Though my heart still holds a place for Mad Hatter, The Ventriloquist, Scarecrow and many more as well.
And also, a grossly underrated villain. The Clock King, from the animated series.
-
Haha, I don't know what happened or who the hell is Hugo Strange but I like you Bill.
-
Reading Secret Six, I'm starting to like Bane I mean he was terrible in 'Knightfall' which still (to me) the Batman equivalent of "The Death of Superman' then Superman comes back with a fucking mullet. But Bane really is a complex character and its showcased in his honorable qualities, he's interesting and I could somewhat see him working in the Nolan-verse well . Problem is (aside from Knightfall) he's not much of a villain and is more of a anti-hero and is a very complex man and I just don't see him succeeding Heath's Joker very well, I mean I'm sure Hardy will make a excellent Bane (he' easy to pull off) as evidence on his work on the Bronson character But Bane with him being in Nolan's next film taking place after the damage the Joker has done? I think he's best left when Batman has things under control and when Batman is more established. I mean the whole reason Bane went after bat's in first place was because he had a good reputation and wanted take over Gotham and put himself in the position. But that's just me.
Another thing why the fuck do people keep saying Bane was miscast as a white person in the blogs? Isn't Bane white in the comics as well? Bane isn't mexican he's South American with Spanish ancestry .There are such things as white hispanics…. Why do folks immediately think 'Hispanics' they think of the folks in Mexico or El Salvador? with mixed ancestry?
I mean I don't care but damn a lot sites have been mentioning Hardy has been 'miscast' as Bane who's hispanic.
Haha, I don't know what happened or who the hell is Hugo Strange but I like you Bill.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Strange
I got little bit of heat from mentioning so many times in the rises thread.
So I call him 'bald chestnut head' until he's confirmed or unconfirmed in the film, but the chances him not appearing is pretty big. Look at the Dark Knight Rises threadThe Monarch shouldn't be on my list.
The Monarch is awesome.
-
It's okay I suppose. Has any regular posters not messed up a few times?
Your posts are still insightful to read. -

Not really underrated as such, since he was only in 3 DCAU episodes. More like underused. Was another very successful re-imagining of an old villain, much like Mr Freeze.

Underrated in that everyone i've met absolutely hates Clock King. I haven't heard a single person say that they actually like him.
But true, he is underused as well.
-
The Floronic Man.
Seriously.
@Badass:
Here's the full list:
http://comics.ign.com/top-100-villains/index.htmlTheir list lacks Floronic man, so it is invalid.
Seriously.

Ign sucks, and are overrated. They put in Carnage who's awful and worser than Venom.
-
I am soft of surprised nobody mentioned Veidt Adrian. He needs more love.
EDIT: High five Akumu. -
I think Akumu mentioned him a few pages back.
-
@THE:

But he wasn't a villain. He saved the world.
-
Yes, and he shipped Nite Owl and Silk Specter II too.
But seriously, the whole point of the ending is we don't know if the world is saved or not.
His intention is more about surpassing Alexander rather than concern for the world.
Though, if war occurs, his biggest triumph is that the war will be less boring since he got rid of Jonathan Fucking Walking H-bomb Otterman. -
I always felt Rorschach was kinda the villain more then Adrien. I don't know why….

Are you sure they're referring to the Batman TAS version, and not the comic book version? Because the comic book one is one of the most mocked supervillains ever, up there with Crazy Quilt, Kite Man and the Duke of Oil.
-

Well, thanks to Rorschach the world might as well plunge into war after all. What a dick.

Born William Tockman, Clock King spends his early years taking care of his invalid sister. One day he finds out from a doctor's visit that he himself only has six months to live. Despairing for his sister's future, he watches the timing of a local bank's vault in order to rob it, hoping the money would provide for his sister after he was gone. His caper would have gone successfully, had he not tripped a silent alarm and been caught by the Green Arrow.[1]
While he is incarcerated, his sister dies alone. In further hideous irony, Tockman discovers that he really isn't terminally ill; his doctor had accidentally switched his papers with those of another patient. Infuriated, he escapes, later futilely attempting revenge on the Green Arrow. This is comedy gold

Most of my friends have never even touched a comic book, so they're talking about the TAS version. I don't know that much about the comic book version to be honest, he hasn't been in anyone i've read.

Discussion on whether anybody qualifies as a villain in Watchmen is fruitful in terms of illustrating deconstruction, but is otherwise kind of a pointless effort, is all.
