oops, sorry, I didn't visit this thread for a long time ^^;
I believe winter special is the 3rd special, I don't know if KF has released this, because I never dled any anime (my poor dial up connection never allow me to ;_; ) but somewhere in this forum, there was a thread about this winter special. :S -
Sanji pointing a gun at Robin was a bit weird. To me, he'd never use a weapon, let alone his hands.
-
Uh, Sanji really did point a gun at All-Sunday.
-
they all amuse me. 20, 20,
-
I don't remember what happened in the manga but I don't think we had this scene.
Sanji tries to talk to Vivi. She doesn't hear. So Sanji tries to contact her again. Where as she goes:

And starts rambling. That just seemed wierd to me.

Sanji pointing a gun towards Miss All Sunday was always weird for me…. I mean.... Did they even have a gun in their ship before?... It just came outta nowhere in that episode.
And yes.... I know that it was in the manga.
-
Uh, Sanji really did point a gun at All-Sunday.
Even so, that was a little OOC for him in my opinion.
Of course, pointing a sword at her is even more OOC (good work there 4kids)
-
Yeah, it's not something I'd figure Sanji would do, but when I think about it, it's not really out of character.
-
Actually…. If you think about it.... Sanji grabbing a sword is more logical in a sence.
Sanji could have easly grabbed one of Zoro's swords from the ship..... But where he got that gun is beyond me.
They're still both OOC to me....
-
well i was re watching episode 115 when they put the new them in and they show robin. i didnt mind this at first, but then im like wtf why did they show robin if ppl didnt know if robin was gonna join the crew. nice move toei
Robin was also the singer of Shouchi no Suke, which gave it away for me… o_o (Shouchi no Suke is the ending to Little Garden)

I thought it was a kitchen knife…
Anyways, in Water 7, you see Nami trying out lots of weapons on the Going Merry... Maybe she doesn't like the Clima Tact?

That second picture is wonderful.

It's not what the characters did, it's just how Toei likes to play around with old jokes.
Chapter 300, the panel to the left
Screenshot from 193, same scene. What's wrong with this picture?
WTFreakin'F?! O_O

As Kryptonite said, Nami was carrying a gun during the Water 7 Arc. I don't think it's that odd that they would have had extra weapons on board their ship. :l
-
The scene with Nami and Sanji in that crappy Rainbow Mist arc always upset me - Nami cares for all her nakama, and she would NEVER tell Sanji to do something that would endanger his life over something like her shopping bags. That's something an anti-Nami fan fiction writer would do - it has no basis in Oda's canon.
The scene from movie 2, however, with Sanji's "This and that" line I didn't really find out of character. It may be a bit stronger than usual (I'd have to go back and check) but it still seems true to Sanji. Besides, we all know that Sanji is just talking about suntan lotion, right? ^_~ (kidding!)
-
Huh? I forgot what he said in the second film. Sexual joke?
Oh, and I think people misunderstand Sanji's unarmed fighting. He may fight with only his martial arts, but that doesn't mean he hates weapons or finds them cowardly or whatever. He's shown before, in the manga, that if the situation calls for it, he'll use 'em like a pro. Kaku didn't have a samurai code against weapons (or other…tools) either.
-
Wow, I thought this thread was dead a long time ago.
WTFreakin'F?! O_O
Robin was also the singer of Shouchi no Suke, which gave it away for me… o_o (Shouchi no Suke is the ending to Little Garden)
I thought that was just a coincidence…I never thought that was supposed to be Robin, but then, maybe it was.
-
I thought that was just a coincidence…I never thought that was supposed to be Robin, but then, maybe it was.
_> I knew it was Nico Robin/Miss Allsunday, because she was on the ship just before…
I suspected she would join because... she was in the ending. XD
-
In the memories arc, Sanji offers a hand to Zoro (who's been in the water for, like, half an episode) to pull him up and says, kindly, "You'll catch a cold".
Whatever happened to the Sanji that stuck cigarettes up his nostrils to point out Zoro's resemblance to a cacus? WHERE IS HE?
-

No, I meant I didn't think that was Robin singing in the ending song, it just happened to look kind of like her.
-
Movie 5: WHEN USOPP HID BEHIND ROBIN AND LET HER DO THE FIGHTING.
God I still hate that scene. How dare they? The rest of the movie was OK, but that… UGH!
I was hoping, about 5 minutes before the scene, that there will be a kick-ass Robin-Usopp tag team...
I look forward to Movie 6.
-

If you compare the ending to her when she's on the Going Merry before Little Garden… =)

Yeah, and after they even called him a lady. The great manly Usopp wouldn't take that and then step behind Robin! Deplorable.
I look forward to Movie 6.
It's wierd, but I think you'll like it.
Nami was a bit out of character in M6, I think she was PMS'ing XD but at least it wasn't as bad as her making Sanji hold her shopping bags in Rainbow Mist.
-
Just about everything in movie 5 was OOC. Hello, Chopper eating meat at the begining?? o_o Zoro betraying Luffy for some crappy Sephiroth-wannabe he supposedly knew from his childhood but conveniently never saw in flashbacks? Sanji being a complete wuss? I can't even remember any more since I saw that one once, I just remember staring at it going 'how could the people who work on this show get it so WRONG?'
-

Oh yeah, about that. I always assumed that Chopper is a vegetarian because he's a reindeer, but has it ever been said? He always seems to be eating whatever the rest of the crew is. In any case, it did just seem really wrong for Chopper to be fighting Luffy over meat. o_O
Zoro betraying Luffy for some crappy Sephiroth-wannabe he supposedly knew from his childhood but conveniently never saw in flashbacks?
Saga was like a total Gary Stew character from a fanfic. XD
-
Well, there was a scene in the Alabasta Arc where Chopper non-verbally told Sanji not to buy venison.
Sanji: He says this is venison.
'Chopper shakes his head.'Of course, Chopper eating venison would be cannibalisim I guess.
-
Yeah, that is different. I eat meat, but I won't eat human. XD
-
In movie 4, I still find it somewhat wrong when Nami borrows one of Zoro's katana…not just any of them, but the Wadou Ichimonji. Sure it's funny, but I always imagined that Zoro would be rather irratated if anyone else even touched Kuina's katana.
-
The out of character things amuse me
-
Can anyone fill me in on that Sacred Sword thing? Sounds funny.
-
in Winter Special, when Robin misunderstand drama and opera. the way she act really make me 'WHAT??!!! OMG is this the same Robin I adore so much??!!' fainted
but, honestly that was such a funny scene. –-> never seen Robin made any funny movements before :PAnyone got any screenshots of this? This is something I got to see. <_<
-

Are you asking for a summary of movie 5?
@Brad:
Anyone got any screenshots of this? This is something I got to see.
I think I can make some, I have the whole thing, it's just not translated into English (it's got chinese subtitles). But maybe video clips would be better. :P Usopp running around in the blond wig is pretty funny too.
-
Are you asking for a summary of movie 5?
Yeah. I wanna know about that Saga guy and what happens with Sanji and all that.
-
Even so, that was a little OOC for him in my opinion.
Isn't it up to the author to decide what is or isn't in-character?
-
Well, the real author, Oda, did have power of defining his characters and making it canon…
However, he maybe inconsistent. Chopper shows no fear when he tackled the Mr. 4 pair. Yet he completely wussed out in Skypiea, and needed to fight Gedatsu to re-strengthen his resolve.
Comments?
-
When did Chopper wuss out? He tried to attack Shura but it was really no use.
-
Well, the real author, Oda, did have power of defining his characters and making it canon..
Huh? When did I ever insinuate anything about "fake" authors?
-
He argued with the other two (Nami and Usopp) about being the weakest, it certainly doesn't look like the Chopper who fought with Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas…
Oh, and he ran around in the forest, screaming, when the Survival Game begin. I thought he would gain his cool and evade accordingly, but... You know, it's just different from Arabasta Chopper.
@Cap'n:
Huh? When did I ever insinuate anything about "fake" authors?
You didn't. I just want to confirm that the writers for the script (authors in a way) for Movies and such have a habit of making OOC moments… And that the contents shouldn't be considered Canon...
-
@Cap'n:
Isn't it up to the author to decide what is or isn't in-character?
Yeah…and as readers of the story, it's not hard to see when a character is not acting the way the author intends. It's inductive reasoning.
As for movie 5...
I suck at summaries, and I don't even remember the details very well, but basically, Robin finds some information about this sacred sword on the island they were on, that supposedly brings the a rule of darkness to world, and it turns out that some old childhood friend of Zoro's accidentally got a hold of it while trying to defend himself against a pirate attack, and it possessed him or something, and since Zoro conveniently happened to be on the island, he asked him to fulfil an old promise help him. Then, um, there's this girl that they meet named Maya who was supposed to Marry Saga before he became possessed by evil, and she's the priestess who does a ceremony to keep the big evil thing with the sword to happen, and I think I'll stop there, because I don't know if I'm making a bit of sense. XD
-
Zoro Onigiring the weird kid in movie 6 (with the bladed side of the swords).
-
I didn't think that wasn't OOC. He was young, but not a child, and also a full-fledged deadly fighter who was attacking him, Zoro had no reason to hold back.
-
When Usopp first meets Luffy, he's like "I'll shoot you, man!" and Luffy stares at him and he backs down. Just…weird. Dunno if it was mentioned.
-
How was that out of character? Luffy didn't just stare at him though, he said said what Shanks said to the mountain bandits. That was so early in the story, there really wasn't much to compare it to.
-
It's not out of character, but I wouldn't see something like that happening. I didn't even remember it until a little while ago, so I wasn't sure. I think it takes a bit away from Usopp's hilarity (is that a word?).
-
I agree with most things said in the topic, ones which annoyed me most were movie OOCness and filler OOC and how Team Rocket like they made Foxy in that one ep.. I mean the giant crab? wtf…
the whole dub is like 85% OOC in my op.
-
"Yeah…and as readers of the story, it's not hard to see when a character is not acting the way the author intends. It's inductive reasoning."
So wait... if the author didn't intend it, why are they acting that way? That doesn't make any sense, unless you're talking about the anime, in which case that's right but I'm referring to the manga.
Sanji will slap a bitch if he has to.
-
Some of the characters did act a little wierd in the Skypea arc. Not just the anime. Like Zoro's goggles-incident.
Also, there's a scene in episode 134 which I'm not sure is out of character but I did find it funny.
Luffy: "What have you been reading all this time?"
Everyone: (Luffy's interested in a book!?)
Luffy: "Did I say something wrong?"
Everyone: "Nothing! Nothing at all!"
-
I thought Zoro shouting like Tarzan before swinging on the vines in the Skypiea arc was out-of-character. Zoro's usually a quiet & serious guy.
-
Zoro screaming like Tarzan was very amusing
-
I don't remember if Zoro did the tarzan call in the manga…I don't remember it.
-
I don't know if I mentioned it already, but Foxy backstabbing Luffy after he helped him reclaim his ship felt really wrong to me and pissed me off. Foxy's a notorious cheater and all, but he obvious had his own sense of honor.
