New to One Piece (Well Sort Of)

@Kairouseki:
I THINK Whitebeard is first shown in episode 151 though I'm not positive. And don't worry, you'll definitely see more of the man in the bar.
That's cool, I want to watch more but I've watched 72 mins today, dam. This is why you buy the dvds. I was going to buy 1st voyage the other day but decided to get 1st and 2nd voyages together when the new COD comes out as my brother will be buying that and 2 should cost me around the same price as that. And then I'll be buying tons of em, my birthday's in December and so is Christmas so that means lots of em.

MT I wanted to ask: how did you like Moor's design ?
Oh and the Ace thingâŚ....I advise you not to even look at chapter names for the latest 100 chapters or so .
Also , sorry if already mentioned but , are you gonna read on after you run out of episodes ? Because the end of the EL arc is prety crapy in the anime . You''ll know what I mean by that eventualy .
Oh about the Apis filler , what were you thoughts on that , you refered to it once I believe . I'm curious what you thought of the characters given how negatively the arc is viewed . Especialy since you (too) also like Rainbow mist , which most people here seem to hate .
-
Your reviews of episodes are quite entertaining to see, sometimes i just wish i could forgot some things i experience just to refind things like this.
Be sure to remember those feelings you experience, you cant get these back even with rewatching the series. I cant wait till you see te line-up in a few episodes.

I think he said he would watch the subs after i think?

If so I would advise : reading the Impel Down arc in manga format at least .
Because it was butchered as hell in the anime , I think anyone here will tell you that .

Yes the pacing was horrid as fuck seriously, never again will I actually watch that arc.

That bad? Blimey, but yep I will give it a read in the manga, I just need to buy the volumes first, no doubt itâll take me a while to reach that point but if itâs that bad I may just read it online.

Yep I do intend to read on, shouldnât be that many chapters so.
Which one was moor again? Either way I liked all the designs but a few stood out to me except I canât remember their names. As for the Apis filler Iâm mixed on it. It has its high points, such as the villain who I liked and the first few episodes were enjoyable but I thought it got really bad towards the end and I lost all interest in it. Iâll review it properly once I get the DVD.
-
You know Buggy right ? Well
! It had lots of Buggy poop joke filler . .
-
Seriously, I don't think ID was that bad in the anime. I decided to rewatch it, but at the same time, show it to a friend, and he really liked it and didn't think it dragged. I just think the whole waiting one week for a new episode is what made people really not like it. But that's just my opinion.
-
If you think Whitebeard's great when you see his debut, just wait until you finally reach the war.
-
Impel Down wasn't that bad. There was a stinker or two during the second half, but overall it was all right.
-
Impel Down only got bad with the Buggy filler (Although there wasn't really much else to work with really).
Some of the best art and animation in the whole anime in it.

Episode 147: Distinguished Pirates! A Man Who Talks of Dreams and the King of Undersea Search!
Plot: This episode didnât offer up enough to interest me, I enjoyed the bar fight at the beginning and other small moments scattered throughout including Nami entering âBitch Modeâ and then Robin appearing randomly with information but on a whole it didnât really interest me. The salvage monkeys were a little annoying, especially with all that screaming and yet another pit stop to meet some flaming cricket dragged this episode down for me.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: The animation was mostly good in this episode though there were a few iffy shots; the monkeyâs design looks horrendous in a good way and I also like the little doors they have for the monkeys. It was nice to hear some familiar tracks but still hoping that Bellamy get his own theme. Another good thing would be the voice acting though the annoying screams of that monkey ruined the character for me.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that wasnât Needed: My favourite moment would be the bar fight at the beginning of the episode, my least favourite moment would be the monkey screaming at the top off his lungs and the moment that wasnât needed would be the decision to go visit the frickin cricket as itâs just another pointless pit stop although it may be interesting when Bellamy shows up.
Heroes and Villains: The Straw Hats were great in this episode, from Luffy and Zoro just being cool for not fighting back and Nami being a total bitch to great effect they were a welcome presence. I like the thing Bellamy does when he sticks out his tongue, random but something I thought was unusual and cool. Also wondering who the 7th warlord of the sea will be, some great filler or canon would be a little tournament to decide.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I didnât see anything coming in this episode but a surprise would be the little glimpse of Shanks we got as it was kinda random.
Final Opinion: An enjoyable episode in its own right but canât they just hurry up and get to Skypea?
So the Score: 8/10 or 4/5.
Episode 148: Legendary Family! Noland the Liar!
Plot: An entertaining episode though I felt something was missing, something I canât quite put my finger on. Montblanc is an interesting character that as soon as I found out he was a descendant of Noland I was highly suspicious of him, perhaps heâs lying about a few things? Liked the little fall outs between the 2 monkeys though their voices sometimes can be hard on the ears. Enjoyed the âbattleâ between Sanji/Zoro vs. Cricket though it could have been longer, it was a blink and youâll miss it fight. Other good scenes made me enjoy this episode though there was nothing mind blowing or spectacular about it.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Iâm not too keen on Cricketâs character design, just doesnât appeal to me; the scene with Mihawk at the end I thought was really well animated, he is perhaps one of my favourite characters design wise. Enjoyed the storybook animation, perhaps the highlight of the episode. I think a new track debuted in this episode when you first see Cricket, Iâm not sure but old or not I enjoyed it. Liking Cricketâs voice, suits him in my book.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that wasnât Needed: The favourite moment would be a tie between the storybook (the animation wins me over) and the skirmish that ensues between Sanji, Zoro and Montblanc. There wasnât a lot I didnât enjoy in this episode but there seems to be a lot of Kaya and saying how great the Going Merry is mentions as of late. As much as I did like the initial shock of seeing him again Mihawkâs presence seemed a little random I guess wasnât really needed, unless of course he has a big role to play.
Heroes and Villains: The Straw Hats were fun as always to watch; Cricket bored me a little for no particular reason and so did the monkeys. Please show more Bellamy though, he deserves the screen time.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: Didnât expect Mihawk to show up so thatâs a definite surprise, also that Cricket was a human, I was half expecting him to be like Gregory out of DBZ. Didnât see anything coming which is a good thing.
Final Opinion: Good olâ fashioned tales of liars, a short battle and other cool stuff happening make this a good episode in my humble opinion.
So the Score: 9/10.
Episode 149: Steer for the Clouds! Capture the South Bird!
Plot: Loved this episode, a mad old romp with comedy, excitement and well madness (the latter being thanks to Bellamy). The idea of the Knock-Up Stream reminded me of a massive geyser though whether the Straw Hats make it to Skypea in One Piece (yâsee what I did there? :)) remains to be seen. The party scenes put me in a good mood as they were fun to watch but the absolute highlight would be the forest scenes. Luffy finding it hard to decide what was better, a beetle or the One Piece, Zoro being told not to step in the quicksand but doing it anyway and Sanji and Nami being terrified off tarantulas (donât blame them) and the appearance of Bellamy at the end made this an amazing episode.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Not a lot to comment on animation wise but I did like the design of the South Bird. Same applies for the soundtrack and the voice acting, not a lot to comment on for the basic fundamentals of this episode.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would definitely be the forest scene, least favourite moment would be the constant screaming of Nami in this episode, well towards the end anyways and the moment that wasnât needed would be the eye catches because I was caught up watching this episode and they snapped my concentration in 2.
Heroes and Villains: Yay for The Straw Hats, they had me laughing throughout this episode. Bellamy needs more screen time people because heâs friggin awesome though it looks like he will as of now. Montblanc was cool as were the monkey people.
Something I saw coming and Something I didnât: I guess I had a feeling that Mihawk wouldnât turn up in this episode and I didnât expect Sanji to be actually scared of tarantulas and Usopp to be fine with them when itâs normally vice versa in these sort of situations.
Final Opinion: This episode was bursting at the seams with fun, a joy to watch.
Score: 10/10
-
I remember watching those episodes when they aired on TV. They flashed most of the strikes and took away Cricket's cig.
Anyway, get ready for one of my favorite fight scenes in the series in 2 episodes.
Edit: And the awesomeness that is political episodes in One Piece.

Episode 150: Dreams Don't Come True?! Bellamy Versus the Saruyama Alliance.
Plot: Great episode, certain things I wish were expanded upon and some things Iâm glad werenât. One thing I would have liked to see in more detail is Bellamy vs. the Saruyama Alliance seeing as we havenât had a proper battle since Luffy vs. Croc but what we got was nice, feel bad for the monkeys, wished theyâd survived. One thing I was glad wasnât expanded upon was Luffyâs journey back to Mock Town, that could have been a chance to put in some filler though Iâm glad Toei opted against it. The scenes in the tavern were funny in a way, hearing Bellamy so confident of himself, all we needed was for that speech to suddenly cut to Bellamy with his face in the dirt after being (I hope) defeated by Luffy.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Might seem a little random but like the designs for Bellamyâs crew; also the animation for injured people, in other animes Iâve seen itâs just black grazes and occasional blood even on the uncut versions (namely DBZ) but I donât see any of that in use in One Piece but then again it is more recent. Loved the track at the end as Luffy and Bellamy met, not a lot else to comment on soundtrack wise except yay for familiar tracks. Still digging Justin Cookâs take on Bellamy, also Iâm starting to like the voices for Masira and his brother.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that wasnât Needed: My favourite moment would be Robin easily capturing the South Bird, least favourite moment would be the fact that the apes got hit, was starting to like them and the moment that wasnât needed would be the trip back to Mock Town to face Bellamy, itâs quite a cool idea to have Luffy run all that way just to beat up someone but surely they could have had the fight on Jaya?
Heroes and Villains: Luffy was magnificent in this episode, gotta love his dedication and his passion. Robin was also cool easily grabbing the South Bird randomly and continuing the trend of me missing characters after theyâre gone I now miss the apes. Villain wise Bellamy continues to stay in my favourite list, so Iâm guessing there will be a big 2 part battle to conclude the Jaya arc, yep Iâm excited.
Something I saw coming and Something I didnât: I guess I knew that Luffy was going to face Bellamy despite Cricket telling him not to and something I didnât see coming would be Robin easily capturing the South Bird.
Final Opinion: Another terrific episode, the plain awesomeness of Jaya is making me ask âDo they really need to go to Skypea?â
So the Score: 5/5
Episode 151: 100 Million Man! World's Greatest Power and Pirate Blackbeard. Plot: Luffy defeated Bellamy with a single punch!! Weâve finally met Whitebeard!! Shanks and Mihawk returned!!! And we met more warlords and some marine head honchos! And the man in the bar was Blackbeard!!! Truly epic and amazing episode topped off with surprises galore. But just to be incredibly picky and ruin all the goodness I must admit I thought it was a bad idea to have Blackbeard be the man in the bar, at the end we saw him all ruthless and such but a few episodes ago he was having what I gathered as a comedic rivalry, but hey itâs early days. It also would have been nice to see more warlords but then again that kinda ruins part of their âpirateâ nature. So as I was saying brilliant episode, did I also mention Shanks (my favourite character) returned?!!!
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Kuma and Pink feather guy (canât remember his name) had fairly decent character designs, wasnât too keen on them, same applies for Whitebeard, donât like how huge they made him, donât tend to like huge characters and well Sengokuâs design was just a bit weird. Would have been nice to hear some new tracks, perhaps a âWarlord themeâ? And for the voice acting, love Whitebeardâs voice, pink-feather guy is 50/50 and Sengokuâs is pretty good. Shame that weâre no longer gonna hear Justin Cook as Bellamy but hey at least Blackbeardâs voice is good enough to be a âreplacementâ. Speaking of Blackbeard not too keen on his character design, not that Iâm racist but itâs hard for me to take him seriously, he looks a little goofy with the teeth and such.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would be the âbattleâ between Luffy and Bellamy, Luffy taking him out with 1 punch was sheer epicness. I donât really have a least favourite moment, I guess that the monkeys survived, I appreciated them more when they were dead. And the moment that wasnât needed was well um, Luffy getting hit once well sort of by Bellamy cause it would have been a tiny bit more epic if Luffy was literally untouchable.
Heroes and Villains: Good olâ Luffy, he was probably the only hero in this episode (marines donât count) so I guess you could say he was the best hero on the block. A lot of new villains to digest, pink-feather guyâs ability is neat though what does Kuma do I wonder. Would have been better if the episode featured solely on the meeting as everyoneâs introductions felt a little rushed. Farewell Bellamy, youâre old news now, he has been replaced by Rockstar! Rock on! :)
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I knew Whitebeard was going to turn up but I didnât expect Shanks to turn up, whoop-de-whoop.
Final Opinion: Woo-hoo for Whitebeard, boo for Bellamy. Just kidding Bellamy, I love you man.
So the Score: 5/5
Episode 152: Take To The Sky! Ride The Knock-Up Stream! Plot: A disappointing episode⌠well the first half anyways, from the moment they began to ride the Knock-Up stream it was friggin exciting. Farewell to the monkeys, farewell to Cricket, but hello Skypea! Though I must admit Iâm not looking forward to it, the whole premise just doesnât interest me. I donât like how they wrote off Blackbeard so quickly and easily, heâll most probably be back but the Straw Hats escaping from him just felt a bit too cartoony, I was half expecting him to say âIâll get you one dayâ or something. But the Knock-Up stream bit was exciting as hell, such a feel good moment when We Are began to play. And now into SkypeaâŚ
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Blackbeardâs ship is awesome, itâs just plain old wood, but itâs just cool in a way. This is the 2nd time as of late that We Are has played though this time I liked its use, made the Knock-Up stream all the more exciting.
Voice Acting wise great as always. The Good, the Bad and the Moment that wasnât Needed: Favourite Moment definitely is the Knock-Up stream part though Luffy revealing that he was so late because he went to look for a Hercules beetle was fun too. Least favourite moment would be getting rid of Blackbeard so easily, surely they could have had a short scuffle like Luffy/Smoker in Logue Town or better yet have Blackbeard go to Skypea or not catch up with Luffy at all. Moment that wasnât needed would be Cricketâs line about how the Straw Hats would be the most unusual bunch of characters heâs ever met.
Heroes and Villains: Usopp was my favourite character in this episode, sure he did the same old routine of âI donât wanna goâ and being scared but it made me laugh in this episode when normally it just makes me smile. I should have probably commented on this in the animation section but itâs about time this section got some love: like Blackbeardâs crew designs, especially the doctorâs.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I sort of knew that they were going to successfully ride the Knock-Up stream but I didnât see Blackbeard appearing in this episode coming, maybe thought theyâd wait a few episodes like they did with Mihawk when we saw him recently.
Final Opinion: Fun episode though not this arcâs best.
So the Score: 8/10 or 4/5.
Jaya Arc Review
General Thoughts and Feelings: This arc felt like a little side trip for me, like in the Pokemon Games when you have to do extra stuff before you can go to say a gym. But whilst in both the side trips are good for the most part, thereâs one big difference between the 2, Pokemon doesnât have a Bellamy, well at least I donât think so, if it does well not one thatâs cool and mad and voiced by Justin Cook. Throughout this arc you have some great episodes, some of the best individual episodes in the franchise so far in my opinion. You have comedy, action, political-ness and Whitebeard. Sure certain parts felt like a letdown but thatâs only because the rest of the episodes are strong in comparison. Definitely can be considered a good arc in my opinion.
Favourite Hero: Iâm going to say Luffy again. Throughout this arc he displayed the characteristics that I liked so much. His determination and loyalty when battling Bellamy to get back Cricketâs treasure, his energetic side and humour when hunting the South Bird in the forest and later riding the Knock-Up stream. At certain times certain elements of his character felt predictable, you can sort of tell when heâs riding the Knock-Up stream that heâs going to like it so maybe some proper character development could occur in the future, I donât know if anyone else has noticed this but Luffy hasnât lost anyone like say Zoro or Nami, perhaps they need to kill off someone close to him, Shanks? Ace? Someone else entirely to change his character.
Favourite Villain: I think you already know the answer. The reason I like Bellamy so much is because heâs like a pirate thatâs taken his crazy pills, heâs so cocky and arrogant that you kinda cheer when heâs taken down but also regret cheering when he is cause heâs awesome. Ok he gets a little bit boring after time but well heâs Bellamy you gotta love him. Notable mentions must go to Whitebeard whoâs just so awesome and Blackbeard has potential.
Favourite Episode: Episode 151 was just brilliant. You have an exciting battle, only for it to end in a slightly disappointing epic way. You have frickin Whitebeard, Shanks, Mihawk, Blackbeard, Kuma and Pink Frickin Feather Guy! You have good music, great animation, best episode of the arc by ooh a Âź of a mile.
Least Favourite Episode: I guess Episode 144, it had some good moments but lets be honest here, type Shamblebobbledibbledooble if you thought Masira was a crap character on first viewing? Shamblebobbledibbledooble. Ok the idea of a salvager had potential but the general bulk of the episode just didnât interest me enough. Sorry Masira fans but this is one monkey who can burn in hell, up until Episode 150 that is when he supposedly dies and therefore becomes more awesome.
Final Opinion: Great arc, great characters, great music. One last thing: Bellamy!
So the Score: 9/10
-
The feather guy is Doflamingo. Remember his name because he's awesome. My favorite warlord. Kuma's awesome too but gets more so down the line, more interesting as well.
I'm sure you'll learn to love Blackbeard later on . Whitebeard also, although most of this is going to take quite awhile.
And Bellamy shows up once more, at the end of Skypeia.
-
The soundtracks are all originally created for the movies so you dont get new tracks 1 at a time.
Im wondering though what did you think of our dear Blackbeards "glorious" ship. -
The soundtracks are all originally created for the movies so you dont get new tracks 1 at a time.
Im wondering though what did you think of our dear Blackbeards "glorious" ship.Very old fashioned, like a raft but it's a potential warlord's ship which means it's automatically cool. But like it anyways.
-
Kuma is incredibly important down the line, keep an eye on him.
And welcome to Skypeia, home of lightning.
-
I saw you using the phrase "(they) wrote him off to easily" . It's a prety common misconception when one comes into the series and only knows the anime that the anime is an original product not based off of anything . A lot of fans feel like that at first .
However , aside from a few changes in the story for whatever reason (Luffy's scar came from him stabing himself to prove he was a "man" to Shanks and Zeff ate his own leg etc.) , the plot is writen by Oda and the anime crew realy doesn't have too much (if any :P) influence on it .
Also kind of disapointed you didn't mention the Gorousei or Sengoku .

My mistake, meant to use Oda but always end up using they.
And I didn't think they were that important so I didn't comment, but I guess they're both alright so far.

They're very importantâŚas important (or more) as Kuma and Doflamingo.

Episode 153: Sail the White Sea! The Sky Knight and the Gate in the Clouds!
Plot: I wouldnât call this an epic episode but I would call it an enjoyable one for sure, basically amazing start to Skypea. Up until the âGorillaâ showed up I was enjoying this episode but not tremendously. I did enjoy Usopp in the clouds, looked fun but that seemed to be the only worthwhile thing as of that point. But then bang the Sky Knight showed up and this episode got a lot more interesting. Heavenâs Gate reminded me of The Check-In Station in DBZ, at first I was a little confused when the âjudgeâ would have let them through either way but then when she announced âHeavens Judgementâ I had a slightly better understanding. Iâm guessing itâs some sort of punishment for not paying, maybe theyâll get arrested? Whatever the outcome the Straw Hats are in troubleâŚ
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Not a lot to comment on animation wise though I did enjoy the designs of the Sky Knight and the Gorilla. I was expecting Heavenâs Gate to be golden gates but then again is that a little too religious? I believe a new track debuted in this episode in the battle between Luffy/Sanji/Zoro against the Gorilla though Iâm not sure, either way it was dam good. For the Voice Acting it was awful, nah just kidding, it was great, so no surprises there then.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite Moment or rather moments would be just the fun of being in the clouds, Usopp swimming in them and Luffy bouncing one made me actually want to be there. Least Favourite Moment would be the Sky Knight giving them the whistle for free, I know itâs not a big deal I just didnât like it for some reason and the moment that wasnât needed would be just randomly seeing Cricket.
Heroes and Villains: A fun episode must mean the Straw Hats were doing something fun and cool which they were, Usopp being brave for once, Luffy and Chopperâs excitement, Nami being a bitch, Sanji and Zoro having some funny lines and Robin just being cool. I enjoyed the gorilla because say in the Pokemon Games when you enter a new town or whatever and thereâs like new Pokemon that are stronger, he was like that, a taster of whatâs to come which I always enjoy. Still not getting the vibe from Blackbeard, itâs like heâs either comedic or serious and they canât find the right balance, heâs either one or the other.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I saw nothing coming in this episode but I didnât expect for âHeavens Judgementâ to be announced, actually thought they were getting a freebie, should be interesting to see how that plays out.
Final Opinion: Awesome start to Skypea, if the rest is as good as this then weâre in for one hell of an arc.
So the Score: 10/10
Episode 154: Godland, Skypiea! Angels on a Beach of Clouds.
Plot: Another entertaining episode, Skypiea is already exceeding my expectations and Iâm guessing I havenât even got to the good stuff yet. The cloud beach looks so much fun, I love those scenarios where the Straw Hats just go off and explore or similar for the first time. Iâm warming to Conis and her father already, they seem to be likeable characters. Up until the end I thought they were too good to be true but I donât think they would have warned the group about Upper Yard if they werenât good. Speaking about Upper Yard, call this a shot in the dark but I think God might be the villain of this arc, even reading that it sounds mad but wouldnât that be cool? Luffy vs. God: I can picture it now.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: I was hoping weâd see more of Skypiea, not like all of it but when they first see it was mostly covered by clouds; Conisâs design as well as her fatherâs are ok though their pet is cooler. Didnât hear much music in this episode though it didnât really need it. As for the voice acting like Conisâs dadâs voice, very welcoming, reminds me of my granddadâs.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would be the ending, the island where God lives sounds epic, Least Favourite Moment would be explaining what the dials do, apart from the âUsopp smellsâ one the rest of the demonstration didnât really interest me. Moment that Wasnât Needed I guess would be anything just so we got to see if Nami goes onto Upper Yard.
Heroes and Villains: More funny stuff from the Straw Hats, Conis and her father seem nice, so yep good episode for the heroes. Villain wise wishing we got to see âHeavenâs Judgementâ although thatâs probably to come. I think God might be like Apocalypse and his priests mentioned last episode might be like his horsemen.
Something I saw coming and Something I didnât: Didnât see anything coming and I was surprised that Nami got lost and ended up on the island where God lives. No matter how many times I type the island where God lives it just keeps on getting epic-er.
Final Opinion: Another strong episode for Skypiea, hurry up and show us more of Upper Yard!
So the Score: 10/10
Episode 155: The Forbidden Sacred Ground! The Island Where God Lives and Heaven's Judgement.
Plot: Skypiea keeps on going from strength to strength, this episode had some truly exciting moments and perhaps the most epic moment One Piece has ever seen, comedy, action, mystery: this episode had these and yâknow what it was bloody brilliant. Finding out more about Eneru had me on the edge of my seat, not because I was excited by the information that was being relayed it just had me captivated. The priests look to be fun characters with their rivalry about who gets to kill who; the scene where Eneru strikes down the man was epic beyond belief with great music and animation, made it look really powerful. I wish Nami had step foot on Upper Yard but Iâm sure thatâs to come. Elsewhere fun was to be had with some comedy moments although for me nothing could top the action on the island where God lives.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: I donât like the designs for the priests, not one bit, they just donât look very threatening to me, did they really need wacky hairstyles and appearances? Loved the animation in the scene I mentioned above where God literally strikes the man down, the music was equally fitting and more than satisfactory. Voice wise not too keen on the Priests, theyâre too goofy for my liking, why not have them like the Fishmen, sure Hatchan was kinda goofy but the rest werenât and they were better for it. There was one particular voice that I loved but I donât know his name but when I do find out Iâll tell you.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would definitely be the scenes on Upper Yard, already the priests have proven themselves to be a force to reckoned with despite their goofy nature, actually Iâd say theyâre more deranged than anything but still. Least Favourite Moment would be still not finding out what Heavens Judgement is, in ways thatâs a good thing but itâs also frustrating, like the white berets by the way. Moment that wasnât need I guess would be um well nothing, everything seemed fine. Eye catchers I suppose?
Heroes and Villains: Glad that Nami had a starring role in this episode, she seems the most sidelined out of everyone so it was a whoop moment that she wasnât pushed to 1 side as per usual. Glad they didnât show Eneru (even though I already know what he looks like having seen future box sets), it adds to the mystery and stature if he doesnât show his face.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: Of course Nami was going to have a little poke around Upper Yard though I wasnât expecting Sanji to knock down Usoppâs cloud pirates, they actually looked good, dam you Sanji!
Final Opinion: I know youâre not supposed to but-
Hurry up and step on Upper Yard! The mystery is killing me, I wanna see more than some forest! Oh good episode by the way.
So the Score: 10/10

Aaah Skypiea, one of my most favourite arcs/sagas, have fun watching Mr10.
-
It's actually spelled Guerrilla.
And while Skypeia may be long it's actually really good. Although some people say it seems like filler, not exactly sure why.
Satori is the only Priest that I don't like. The others are pretty cool, especially Aum and Gedatsu.
-
People think Skypiea is filler due to it supposedly being irrelevant to the plot but i just say meh to that it is an adventure series after all.
Main reason why i dont like Skypiea is just the main villain dissapointed me. -
Enel's awesome, though. A question to MisterTen: has Enel been shown actually or just talked about?
-
@Kairouseki:
Enel's awesome, though. A question to MisterTen: has Enel been shown actually or just talked about?
just hate how he dissapointed me in the fight, i expected an epic fight what i got was hardly close to awesome.
-
My mistake, meant to use Oda but always end up using they.
And I didn't think they were that important so I didn't comment, but I guess they're both alright so far.
Just to clarify :P
The Gorousei rule over the world government and in essence the whole world .
Sengoku is the head of the Navy . All of it . Right above the admirals .

He's been talked about and I think he said one thing though if he did I didn't hear it well enough. But you've seen him strike someone down from off-screen, that's about it.

Episode 156: Already Criminals? Skypiea's Upholder of the Law!
Plot: A enjoyable episode though I didnât enjoy it as much as previous instalments in Skypiea, the reason being it was too loud (and not because I had the volume up) and in your face. Whilst the Straw Hats getting into more trouble was funny it got a little annoying, maybe itâs because Iâm grouchy today but Usoppâs constant shouting got on my nerves. I did like Nami randomly coming and crashing into the white beret captain. However I loved the last few minutes as soon as the white beretâs started attacking, I enjoyed Gum Gum Fireworks and then at the end I thought weâd see Eneru but what we got was just as good, so now the Straw Hats are going to be tested in Upper Yard, interesting for sure.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: There wasnât a lot of noteworthy animation in this episode though I liked the design of Luffyâs new attack. Same for soundtrack, a great musical moment when the battle against White Beretâs began and ended, also it was a welcome return for the soundtrack that played at the end of the episode, now that is the music I would have played when Luffy entered the tomb back in Alabasta. Voice Acting pretty good though Usoppâs screaming got on my nerves.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would be Luffy finishing off the white beretâs, least favourite moment would be Usoppâs screaming and moment that wasnât needed would be eye catches I suppose.
Heroes and Villains: As I mentioned above I thought the scenes where the Straw Hats get into more trouble were funny my highlight from that encounter would be the snoring tax or whatever it was. Villain wise the white beretâs were ok though I guess theyâre only supposed to be the grunts so not a lot of characterization was needed.
Something I saw coming and Something I didnât: Something I saw coming would be Luffy fighting off the white beretâs and something that came out of the blue would be Nami crashing into their captain.
Final Opinion: Skypiea is holding strong though I do agree with whoever said it felt like filler, well good filler come to that.
So the Score: 8/10.
Episode 157: Is Escape Possible?!? Eneru's Ordeals are Set in Motion!
Plot: A fun episode to watch, liking the path the story is carving, should make for some great episodes. Last episode I didnât particularly like the idea of being exiled to the clouds and die a long and painful death, just didnât seem all that exciting. But now if thereâs going to be a sacrifice should make for some gripping viewing. I had a bad feeling about Conis and I guess I was sort of right, though I wonder why she didnât warn the Straw Hats, maybe because Eneru would have inflicted his wrath upon her? So yep great episode and definitely am excited by whatâs to come.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: I was hoping this episode would end with the group arriving at Upper Yard cause I wanted to see what the island where God lives looks like but oh well. Didnât realize there was a new opening so I skipped it but Iâll share my thoughts on that next time; music wise liked the tracks that were offered up, suited the scenes well. Still not a lot to comment on voice acting wise though glad to hear Zoro doesnât sound like Piccolo as these episodes would have been dubbed around the time as Z Kai I believe.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Best part of the episode would be the idea of no escape on the Going Merry with the sea fish and the messenger of God, I was half expecting one of them to escape so it was a sort of pleasant surprise when they didnât. Least favourite moment would be not seeing Upper Yard but that can be considered a good thing and the moment that wasnât needed would be seeing the white beret guy every so often.
Heroes and Villains: I have a feeling one of the Straw Hats will die in this arc, dunno why I just think one of them might. Hoping to see more of the priests soon as I want to see if my initial opinion will change and any idea when we see Eneru for the first time?
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: Didnât see anything coming in this episode but I didnât expect Sanji to be more worried about the fact that Nami was wearing a top rather than Nami herself.
Final Opinion: Fantastic episode and a great way to start 2nd voyage.
So the Score: 9/10
Episode 158: Trap on Lovely Street! Almighty God Eneru!
Plot: Terrific episode though it felt padded out in places, but nonetheless I enjoyed it. Iâve had my suspicions about Conis but it was still a shock when she revealed her intentions, though of course Luffy was going to forgive her, I think her betrayal did more good than harm because now Luffyâs a little more pissed and pissed Luffy always tends to win. Eneruâs attack was pretty darn epic though it did feel a bit of a rip off moment when the Sky Knight saved them though I wasnât expecting him to be God. The ending had me psyched, bring on Upper Yard!
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: The animation for the opening was pretty good though it did seem a bit of a weird to choice to really make the characters stand out by having black outlines around them. The ending itself wasnât half bad, the singing was good but I loved the instrumental so I guess Iâll rank it as my 5th favourite ending. Voice Acting wise I want to hear Eneru, I know I could easily go on behind the voice actors but spoilers.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: My favourite and least favourite and moment that wasnât needed all take place within one minute: Favourite moment is Eneruâs wrath and least favourite moment/moment that wasnât needed were the Sky Knight saving Conis and Luffy, though Iâd be more pissed had it ended on a cliff-hanger and the Sky Knight saving them was at the start of the next episode.
Heroes and Villains: I feel sorry for Conis, I can understand why she did what she did and now Iâm eagerly awaiting Luffy vs. God, should be epic though it probably wonât happen for another 30 or so episodes. Villain wise the white beretâs confused me, if they were going to go to Upper Yard anyway why not just let them? Or is it because of Conisâ reason that you have to escort the criminals?
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I knew Luffy was going to forgive Conis though I didnât expect for 1: The Sky Knight to show up and 2: For him to be the original God, Sky Knight vs. Eneru in a future episode perhaps?
Final Opinion: Oda certainly likes to hold out on things, if they donât reach Upper Yard next episode I swear Iâm gonna, nah never mind. Though Iâm just thankful this is not like Alabasta where they travelled to Little Garden and Drum Island before they reached the Kingdom of Sand.
So the Score: 9/10

Oh one thing - the scene where they make more and more offences in front of McKinley is just filler . In case you disliked that scene .

Oh, well it was alright I suppose, just seemed a bit weird how he was charging them with more and more offences for simple things.

They do still get charged as being Class 2 Criminals in the manga, though.

Episode 159: Onward Crow! To the Sacrificial Altar!
Plot: This episode had great fun scribbled all over it, this is without of the doubt one of the One Piece episodes Iâve enjoyed greatly. We had some laugh out loud moments including Zoroâs George of the Jungle impression, Usopp being constantly terrified which I actually enjoyed this time and Luffy just being stupid and Robin just being relaxed. The scenes where they were travelling through Upper Yard and avoiding the killer pendulums reminded me of Scooby Doo and as for the tortures at the end Iâd go with Sphere/Ball ordeal. As for Chopper, that poor reindeer, whoâs betting Eneru or the priests show up and take out all the others leaving the little guy to fend for himself.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Not a lot to comment on for these categories bar the fact I liked Chris Sabatâs George of the Jungle impression and also the new outfits for the majority of the crew suit them.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would be the crossing of the river, Nami almost smacking that tree was funny and also her line (at least I think it was hers) about how Zoro shouldnât piss off God. I donât really have a least favourite moment, but I guess that everyone else got new outfits and Luffy didnât. Moment that wasnât needed would be the eye catches.
Heroes and Villains: Robin was cool in this episode by being relaxed in the face of the danger and Chopperâs little vision about burning in a pot made me smile. As for the ordeals I have no idea what theyâll involve except I have a hunch the priests will be involved, one priest behind every door sounds about right.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I didnât see anything coming in this episode but I wasnât expecting the episode to end on the âwhich door should we chooseâ, I thought weâd get to see what they picked but it works better I thinks by leaving it on a cliff-hanger.
Final Opinion: This episode was fun, Fun, FUN!
So the Score: 10/10
Episode 160: 10% Survival Rate! Satori, the Mantra Master!
Plot: Iâm mixed on the battle so far, part of me enjoys it because itâs different in a way to anything One Piece has shown me before but also Iâm not the battleâs biggest fan because I donât particularly like Satori, my reasons Iâll explain in the next section. Iâm glad they decided to have Luffy enter the fray first as normally heâs the one who takes on the big, bad villain at the end of the arc, maybe he will, who knows but still wasnât expecting him to fight first. Wish that Nami and her group were given more to do, same for Chopper: the one time they donât really distract from the battle itâs one that I wish they would.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Probably the most redeeming thing about Satori is his design, itâs different and wacky and frankly quite cool, I think his voice suits him but nonetheless I donât like it, too camp for someone whoâs supposed to be powerful and ruthless. Soundtrack was cool in this episode, some good tracks.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that wasnât Needed: Favourite moment would be Usoppâs little visions about what would happen in each ordeal, least favourite moment would be the lack of a âproperâ devil fruit power for a God, not that every villain has to have one but in my humble opinion it makes the battle that bit more interesting. And moment that wasnât needed I guess would be the un-epic cliff-hanger of Luffy stuck in a tree and Satori gloating.
Heroes and Villains: I was half expecting Conis to turn up in this episode or the previous one, even if her appearance is just filler as they always tend to show characters for a few moments the episode after they âleaveâ, eg: Cricket and Vivi. Iâm glad that Oda chose Satori as the first priest as based on first impressions heâs my least favourite so Iâm glad they got him out of the way.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: Didnât see anything coming in this episode but I wasnât expecting there to be a battle between Luffy and Satori.
Final Opinion: Give the evil priest a (better) devil fruit power so this battle becomes more interesting or make him more athletic so fist to fist combat is better.
So the Score: 8/10
Episode 161: The Ordeal of Orbs! Desperate Struggle in the Illusion Forest!
Plot: What a turn-around! After the slight disappointment of last episode this episode really turned the battle around, ok itâs nowhere near my favourite fight but at least this battle branched off into different directions, what with Usopp trying to rescue the ship etc. I was hoping the showdown would conclude this episode as Iâm not sure how much longer Oda can make the âfightâ interesting. I was surprised that (by the looks of things) Chopper is going to fight by himself but good on the author for giving him the chance. Zoro seems to be saving Nami a lot and I have no idea what the little kid is up to.
Animation, Soundtrack and Voice Acting: Not a lot to comment on for animation and voice acting; soundtrack wise I think this was the best episode musically in a good while because a lot of my favourite tracks were played.
The Good, the Bad and the Moment that Wasnât Needed: My favourite moment would everything that Usopp did, his battle with the birds (loved their little barbershop quarter style) and then him missing the boat because his utility belt was attached to the boat. Least favourite moment would be the Zoro and co stuff as they broke my concentration on the episode and the moment that wasnât needed would be the little kid sneaking about.
Heroes and Villains: So if each Straw Hat battles a priest shouldnât it be incredibly easy for Robin to defeat one? I mean her hands could appear from anywhere so her wandering hands could easily win, not just against a priest but almost every foe. 9 episodes into Skypiea and already theyâre in a battle with a priest, does that mean the battles are going to be incredibly long if presumably Skypea is about 30 - 40 episodes, I hope now as I canât stand much more of Satori.
Something I saw coming and something I didnât: I knew something bad would happen to Chopper when he was alone and I didnât expect Usopp to miss the Crow because of his belt.
Final Opinion: Great episode even though Satori isnât my favourite character and I tend to despise every scene heâs in.
So the Score: 10/10
-
Dont you worry about the whole fight as you call it will get boring, Oda has plenty of surprises left for you. Satori is practically the worst priest out there and the next one just plain bores me but the other 2 are my favorites theyr pretty fun encounters.
-
Satori isn't a God, he's just a priest.

You are watching the dubbed version online right? Until which episode are they online?
