Dammit! Now I have to sing!

Ah, Be Our Guest. A song where the parody has ruined it for me forever.
Along with Part of Your World, Whole New World, and the entirety of Pocahontas thanks to Animaniacs.
Poor songs. The parodies are hilarious… but I still end up thinking them whenever I hear the originals now.

See my vest. See my vest. It's made from real gorilla chest.
-
See my sweater! There's no better! Than authentic Irish Setter!
-
See this hat? Twas my cat!
My evening wear's vampire bat! -
See my poodle on my noodle it will rest.
-
Try my red robin suit, it comes in one breast or two!
-
Oh dear, I'm afraid I missed that one.
-
Like my Loafers former Goafers twas that what skinned my sofas but a Greyhound for Tuxedo would be best!
-
So let's prepare these dogs…
-
Steal two for matching clogs!

See my veeeest!
See my veeeest!
Seeeee myyy veeeeeeeest!
He really likes his vest.

There's also this. Be warned. It WILL ruin Part of Your World forever. Possibly the entire movie, for that matter. NSFW.

Also fun, yet terrible. Not quite as ruinous of your childhood because its different.

Grizzly bear underwear.
Turtlenecks, I have my share.A couple of the other lines were a bit off:
Beret of poodle, on my noodle it shall rest.
Liiiiiike my loafers?
Former gophers!
It was that or skin my chaffeurs, but a greyhound tuxedo would be best.
Let's prepare these dogs.
Kill two for matching clogs. -
I thought the loafers line sounded off. (and isn't it "greyhoud FUR tuxedo"?)
I'm pretty sure I remember "steal" instead of "kill" though. It might have been an edited run, however.

This is probably one of the funniest Disney song parodies, even if it doesn't use the tune from any one. I can still look at Part of Your World the same after watching it, though.

For the record, here's the complete lyrics for "See My Vest."
! Some men hunt for sport,
Others hunt for food.
The only thing I'm hunting for
Is an outfit that looks good.
See my vest, see my vest,
Made from real gorilla chest.
Feel this sweater, there's no better
Than authentic Irish Setter.
See this hat, 'twas my cat.
My evening wear, vampire bat.
These white slippers are albino
African endangered rhino.
Grizzly bear underwear,
Turtle necks I've got my share.
Beret of poodle on my noodle it shall rest
Try my red robin suit,
It comes one breast or two…
See my vest, See my vest, See my vest.
Like my loafers, former gophers,
It was that or skin my chauffeurs,
But a greyhound fur tuxedo would be best...
So let's prepare these dogs,
Kill two for matching clogs!
See my vest!
See me vest!
Oh, please, won't you see my veeeeeesst! -
Ah. Guess I misheard or I saw a censored version.

JnrfUUZlNFQ[/ youtube]
md9NSairxbU[/ youtube]I watched those same videos earlier today.
The second part is oddly edited, probably for time. There's a whole thing where Yakko confronts Taz and is all "Hey, you're Taz aren't you!" "Me no Taz!" and then tries to get him to do "that funny thing!"

Hey guys, why don't you stop and care more about the real greatest Disney news in forever:
Fantasia will be released in a 4-Disc Special Edition Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack and in a 2-Disc Special Edition DVD on November 30, 2010
Edit: This is the most obnoxious GIF I've ever seen and I feel compelled to just keep it here.
-
Definitely getting Fantasia. It's the only gaping hole left in my DVD library.
But now more Tangled news!
Here's another promo, this one actually showing the villainess, Mother Gothel:
U4I2qfp_0ucThey also released a bunch of quick chara vids:
Flynn
LT5TKk1EqG0Pascal
sZ_mVjtQ-j8Rapunzel
L8mF5sv7bKgPub Thugs
NpBT78YQOmsAnd, finally, a 90-second spot (I'm already loving Brad Garrett's chara):

Nice, I was just lamenting about how I never got the last Fantasia DVD release.
-
Thanks for the heads up. I'd preordered the uk edition but the us one has double the discs(2bd + 2dvd as opposed to 1bd + 1dvd or 2bd), so I assume we're missing out on something with the dvd's yet again.
-
Not nececarily. Sometimes they break material that could easily fit on one disk into to, just for the sake of having "more disks!" Especially with how much blue ray can hold.
The "bonus digital copies" make no sense to me.
But yeah. Fantasia. Awesome. And they're throwing in 2000 in for the hell of it? Well, it wasn't as good, but I haven't seen that one since it was in theaters. I remember flying whales and the one that blatantly ripped off Princess Mononoke. (And Thank Roy the animators refused to do what Eisner suggested with the wedding march.)
Also really looking forward to Rapunzel.
-
Fantasia 2000 was really lacking the depth of the original, from what I recall. It was more akin to music video than experience. The music felt undeveloped and the animation didn't really "go" places like the original. I don't remember if it actually had those orchestra elaboration live action segments either. If it did, they weren't nearly as interesting.
I'm trying to withold from watching Fantasia again until the blu-ray has come out. It's been so many years, another month shouldn't be too bad.

What was that? Either I've forgotten or I never heard about it.
Showing the Disney couples (Mickey/Minnie, Donald/Daisy, Goofy…Clarabel?, etc.) with babies.
Disney, knowing this was retarded, went for the Noah thing.

Fantasia 2000 was mediocre. "Rhapsody in Blue" was very well done, and "Pomp and Circumstance" really made me want to cry toward the end (possibly my favorite one).
While I honestly feel bad for "Firebird" since that one really had some effort into it, but I didn't like it all that much (it almost felt like they were trying to make it their "Night on Bald Mountain", which you cannot compare to that). And adding "Sorcerer's Apprentice" for a second viewing just felt lazy.
But I often feel that everyone forgets "Carnival of the Animals". Which, though comical versus the true beauty of Fantasia, in itself was a lot of fun.

I remember reading somewhere that Walt planned to do a Fantasia every year, switching old pieces for new ones, updating old ones, and generally keeping the thing alive.
Tragically, the world couldn't handle that much awesome, and the project got put on hold until Fantasia 2000, hence why Sorcerer's got kept in.
Why they left out Bald Mountain and Ave Maria is a mystery.

Neat. I wouldn't have minded an annual Fantasia, though I believe that it would have been ruined by now.
Honestly, I don't know why they brought back Sorcerer's Apprentice, and not Bald Mountain/Ave Maria (honestly, Bald and Ave songs are one in Fantasia, without the other, it just not as good). I mean, I love Mickey Mouse, and 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' IS a good song, but Bald/Maria was just the icing of the cake.
For me, that WAS the best bit, even as a kid. I was petrified of the creatures as a kid, but it was one of the few things that scared me that made me want to watch more.
-
I also remember reading about possibly adding music other than classical if it did go annual.
I would kill to see Disney animate a swing club with their characters set to Glenn Miller's 'In the Mood'.

Methinks that they picked Sorcerer's because it would have less or a traumatizing effect on the kiddies.

Fun fact. Many people think Fantasia is an hour and half of Mickey Mouse, have no idea its an unconnected silent musical, and leave the theatre in a huff with their screaming kids when Night on Bald Mountain comes up, when the whole thing turns out to not be at all what they expected. (even though its, you know, a 70 year old movie.)
Happens every time it gets re-released.

Heh. I'd enjoy that. I'd love more stuff like Fantasia, done entirely with musical and animating talent.

True.
My childhood was so different from many kids. I stayed up late with my sisters watching Friday the 13th or Halloween. I'd cover my face with a pillow, petrified, but I never complained that a cartoon would scare me.
Perhaps such is why I enjoy horror so much now.
EDIT: Actually, I remember being in elemantary school (5th grade in fact), and my music teacher (coolest woman ever) made us watch Fantasia. We skipped over Bald Mountain. :( I remember being upset about that, and being confused that no one in my class had ever even heard of the movie. For me, it was as powerful and important to watch as any Disney classic.

Such is true with a lot of animated movies. I'm sure tons of mothers were pissed with Dr. Facilier, his shadows, and his death. Granted, Fantasia's rendition of Bald Mountain is definately scarier.
And Fantasia is 70 years old?!? That's amazing. It almost feels like it hasn't aged a bit, especially being better than majority of animation today.
I bought it for my mother on her birthday, so I can't wait to watch it again soon.

I thought it was just a Mickey Mouse movie, too because the only part I had seen in its entirety was The Sorcerer's Apprentice from a collection of old Mickey shorts. Then, I remember watching other parts of it in music class back in 3rd grade, and finally saw Rite of Spring. In fact, I saw the movie in its entirety for the first time four years ago.
As for 2000, I've mentioned before that I still like it. Though it still pales in comparison.

Begs the question of exactly who Goofy did it with to get Max.
As for the Fantasia re-release, I'm all over that like stink on rice.

Its the great mystery that the only bachelor in the group is the one that has a kid.
A kid that, from 1992-2000, grew up in real time.
according to wikipedia
Max's mother is called May. She looks like a cow. Goofy has been portrayed with a 'wife' in earlier films though she is always nameless and faceless and while with Max, Goofy has always been a 'single dad'.
but it has no source on that.
And apparently, in the Twice upon a christmas movie…
iEd-4xGyb6w
I dunno about that haircut, Max.Guess he ditched Roxanne somewhere along the way.
EXTRA ODD. Upon actually watching it and then credit checking. Mona there has the same voice actress as Roxanne, Kellie Martin. WTH.
-
Now i want to see one of those "How to set up your home theater" type of shorts about how to hire a hooker starring goofy, leaving him with a kid 9 months later
-
I bet you that one day, they will pull a "Chuckie from Rugrats learns about his mother" with Max.
It won't make me cry like Chuckie (Oh my God, did I fucking cry over that…), but it will feel forced and awkward.
-

You're studying to be an animator. Get on it.
I suppose Goofy is naturally clumsy. He'd probably just fall right into things.
I bet you that one day, they will pull a "Chuckie from Rugrats learns about his mother" with Max.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
I'm just trying to wrap my brain around the fact that Max apparently ended up dating two different girls that look and sound identical, in a christmas special I didn't know existed till 5 minutes ago.
I'll chalk that up to actually being Roxanne and then requiring a last minute dub over retcon for their plot to actually work when they realized a problem at the end of production.
Kind of like Kovu "not really being Scar's son".

Maybe Roxanne got a name change.
Although, Roxanne never made an appearance in An Extremely Goofy Movie.

She did show up in House of Mouse though.
…with a different voice actress.
Max has a strange love life. Best not to pry any further.

Rugrats Spoilers (But really….who cares)
! Chuckie from the Rugrats was the only kid on the show without a mother. One episode, they decided to explain the whereabouts of Chuckie's mother.
! Of course, Chuckie's mother is dead. They had an entire tearful story dealing with Chuckie trying to find his mother, until his father kind of figures out Chuckie's curiosity and tells Chuckie about his mother and that she died.
! We're given a brief flashback of his mother (very beautiful and nice woman) playing with Chuckie as a newborn. And it ends with Chuckie telling the other babies that his mother is "in the grass, in the clouds, in the water, in the…"
! And then I start crying like a queer.^I had a feeling Disney might someday do this to Max.

Seriously. Where IS Roxanne? She was awesome!
The entire Goofy Movie should be a bible to both Goofy and Max! Seriously, that movie made Goofy far more interesting than Mickey and Donald combined! …...I want to give Goofy a hug.
Wait....Mona and Roxanne have the same voice actress and look similar?
.....DISNEY, WHAT THE FUCK!?! There is no reason for this! None! The girls are pretty much the same person!
-
Roxanne had a college phase, obviously.

@RobbyBevard:
Roxanne had a college phase, obviously.
So in college, she had a gender change due to curiosity and named herself Rocky. However, she later regretted being a male and got a second gender change, back into a female. Due to the shame of once being 'Rocky', she decided to make herself a new name. Luckily, she was looking at a painting of the Mona Lisa when she made this decision.
So, she's now Mona.
It writes itself!
